Anand James, chief market strategist at Geojit Financial Services said “Expiry eve is a crucial day for expiry related trades as time decay sets in. As indices froze a little after 10 am, F&amp;O trades that reference such benchmark indices also slowed down. With hardly an hour's trade possible for such index-based traders the higher margins on F&amp;O positions may have been a double whammy.” The bourse said it depends on two telecom service providers for connectivity, and both failed simultaneously, resulting in the outage. India’s largest stock exchange halts trading after data glitches stop Nifty50 and Bank Nifty from updating

Shares of <keyword id="6355199" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="reliance-industries">Reliance Industries</keyword> on Wednesday rebounded nearly 6 per cent after plunging over 12 per cent in the previous session.The stock was trading 3.49 per cent up at Rs 1,152.05 on the BSE. In early trading hours the stock gained as much as 5.8 per cent to Rs 1,178.40. On the NSE, it was quoting at Rs 1,151.65, up 3.37 per cent. It touched a high of Rs 1,178.45, higher by 5.77 per cent. More than 1.71 crore shares of Reliance Industries were traded on the NSE, while BSE saw an exchange of 57 lakh shares till noon. The spurt in volume was more than 6.70 times during the day on the BSE. After surging 308 points in highly volatile trade, BSE benchmark Sensex was up 196.45 points, or 0.55 per cent, at 35,831.40, and the NSE Nifty rose 33.60 points, or 0.32 per cent, to 10,485.05. Shares of Reliance Industries on Monday slumped as much as 13 per cent amid a price war among oil producers leading to international crude prices crashing by their biggest margin since the 1991 Gulf war. Global oil benchmark Brent crude futures were trading 0.24 per cent higher at USD 37.31 per barrel at 1230 hours. Domestic financial markets were closed on Tuesday for Holi.

Reliance share price rebounds by 6% as crude prices rise

New Delhi, May 8 () Two exchanges at International Financial Services Centre in Gift City, India INX and NSE IFSC, on Friday launched trading in rupee-USD derivative contracts to enable participants to hedge, trade and settle in the dollar.With the launch, trades that have been migrated to other international financial centres will now bring rupee trading home.Besides, trading of INR-USD futures and options will enable participants to hedge, trade and settle in USD with market rules and ecosystem at GIFT City IFSC that is at par with other global markets.The launch was done virtually by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, where she rang the bell electronically and declared Rupee-Dollar Futures and Options contract open for trading on India INX and NSE IFSC, both exchanges said in separate statements."We welcome today's launch of rupee-dollar trading from the International Exchanges at GIFT IFSC. This new reform will enable India to become a net exporter of financial services, being in sync with the vision of GIFT City as a platform for onshoring financial services business, presently being lost to other financial centres across the world," said Tapan Ray, MD and Group CEO at GIFT City.India INX Chairman Ashishkumar Chauhan said the launch of INR-USD contracts is a great initiative to onshore the offshore rupee-dollar markets."Introduction of rupee derivatives in IFSC is crucial for the development of Indian financial markets. Rupee derivatives in IFSC would help in creating a vibrant forex market in India. "This will also play an important role to bring offshore rupee market back to India and strengthen price discovery in Indian markets," NSE MD and CEO Vikram Limaye said.The move comes after Sitharaman in her budget speech said that in recent years, there has been a surge in trading volumes of the Indian rupee in the offshore financial centres."The government and the RBI have taken various measures to permit rupee derivatives to be traded in the International Financial Services Centre at GIFT city, Gujarat," she had added.IFSC platform offers access for the international investors and non-resident participants who currently participate in INR trading in various offshore markets and shall offer such participants, an additional trading venue at par with the other offshore market platforms. Long trading hours and USD settlement at IFSC would also help to improve access for overseas participants. India INX, NSE IFSC launch rupee-USD derivative trading

New Delhi, Mar 26 () Leading stock exchanges BSE and NSE on Thursday cut down trading hours for commodities derivative segment till 5 pm, instead of current practice of allowing it up till mid-night, in the wake of coronavirus pandemic. The trading will begin at 9 am and close at 5 pm and the new timings will be effective from March 30 till April 14, the exchanges said. In separate statements, commodity exchanges -- MCX and ICEX -- announced about the reduced trading hours. Commodity markets trade between 10 am to 11.50 pm, while equity markets close at 3.30 pm. "In view of the novel COVID-19 outbreak, the nationwide lockdown of 21 days and pursuant to discussions with Sebi, it has been decided to revise the trading timings," BSE and NSE said in similar worded circulars. Narinder Wadhwa, President, Commodity Participants Association of India (CPAI) said the move will provide great relief to all members amid a 21-day nationwide lockdown. COVID-19: Exchanges cut trading hours for commodity trading till 5 pm

New Delhi, May 8 () Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday expressed hope that trading of rupee-dollar derivatives contracts in India will generate huge volumes, given the world class business environment and competitive tax regime at GIFT-IFSC. The minister on Friday launched INR-USD futures and options contracts on the two international exchanges -- BSE's India INX and NSE's NSE-IFSC, at GIFT-IFSC in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. "Given the world class business environment and competitive tax regime at GIFT-IFSC, it is expected that trading of INR-USD contracts may bring volumes to India," she said. The finance minister opened the trading facility by ringing the bell electronically through video conference. Trading volumes on India INX have been growing phenomenally ever since the exchange commenced trading activities in January 2017, BSE said in a statement. With a cumulative trading volume of USD 822 billion since launch and international debt medium-term note (MTN) program of about USD 48 billion, India's INR-USD derivative is expected to attract more participants to the IFSC and make India INX a leading centre for raising capital for issuers across the globe, it said. In a separate statement, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) said introduction of rupee derivatives in IFSC is crucial for the development of Indian financial markets. "Rupee derivatives in IFSC would help in creating a vibrant forex market in India. This will also play an important role to bring the offshore rupee market back to India and strengthen price discovery in Indian markets," it said. The major participants in rupee derivatives contracts at NSE IFSC shall include Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs), corporations, IFSC Banking Units (IBUs) trading members, global banks and non-resident Indians, it added. To provide a single window regulatory institution which would accelerate the development of India's first IFSC at GIFT City, the government established an International Financial Services Centres Authority to regulate all financial services in International Financial Services Centres (IFSCs). Currently, banking, capital markets and insurance sectors in IFSC are regulated by multiple regulators -- the RBI, Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), and Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (Irdai). The then finance minister Arun Jaitley in February 2018 proposed a unified regulator for the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) at GIFT City in Gujarat. Reliance Industries shares rebound nearly 3 pc

New Delhi, Feb 27 () Shares of Mahindra CIE Automotive on Thursday closed the session marginally lower reacting to the disappointing performance of the company in December quarter results. On the BSE, the stock traded in the red for the whole session but managed to go above its opening value only at the end of the market hours. It lost as much as 8.5 per cent to its 52-week low at Rs 129 in early trading hours. It settled at Rs 140.05, down 0.67 per cent over the previous close. On the NSE, the stock's opening value equalled its intra-day high while the trading session was in progress. During the day, the scrip touched its 52-week low at Rs 130, down 7.8 per cent. Finally, the stock closed 0.60 per cent lower at Rs 140.15.In terms of volume, the number of shares traded on the NSE was more than 4.3 lakh while it was just 26,000 on the BSE.This is the 10th consecutive session that the scrip has rested in the red zone. It has lost nearly 18 per cent since February 13, on the BSE.The company on Wednesday reported 91.1 per cent loss in consolidated profit after tax at Rs 12.61 crore for December quarter as compared to Rs 142.03 crore in the year-ago period.Revenue from operations for the said quarter stood at Rs 1,722.93 crore as against Rs 1,975.02 crore in the same period of previous fiscal. New Delhi, Feb 26 () Shares of Bandhan Bank on Wednesday reversed its early gains and closed over 2 per cent lower. The stock traded in the green only during early market hours and then went on to fall for most of the trading session. In a highly volatile trade on the BSE, the stock gained as much as 4.8 per cent to Rs 423.25 and after some time traded at its 52-week low of Rs 391.55. Finally, it settled 2.28 per cent lower at Rs 394.25. Similarly, on the NSE, the stock jumped 4.72 per cent to Rs 423 and then lost 3.11 per cent to hit its 52-week low of Rs 391.30. The scrip settled at Rs 392.50, 2.82 per cent lower over the previous close. More than 72 lakh shares of Bandhan Bank were traded on the NSE and 3.34 lakh on the BSE. The RBI on Tuesday allowed Bandhan Bank to expand its branch network after considering the efforts made by the private sector lender to comply with the licensing conditions. The bank said the RBI has lifted the regulatory restriction on branch opening, subject to the condition that the bank ensures that at least 25 per cent of the total number of banking outlets opened during a financial year are opened in un-banked rural centres, it added. Bandhan Bank shares reverse early gains, fall over 2 pc

New Delhi, Feb 26 () Shares of drug firm Cipla tumbled nearly 6 per cent on Wednesday after the US health regulator issued a warning letter for its Goa manufacturing facility.The shares plunged as much as 5.72 per cent to a low of Rs 401 per unit on the BSE. Later, it was trading 1.49 per lower at Rs 419 per unit.The shares of the company have been falling for the last three sessions. It has declined nearly 9 per cent since Thursday taking into account the today's low.On the NSE, it slumped 4.69 per cent to trade at Rs 405.80. It was quoting at Rs 419.50 apiece, down 1.48 per cent at 1120 hours. In terms of volume, the NSE saw an exchange of more than 40 lakh shares and the BSE witnessed a trade of 80,000 units till the mid-session. The company, earlier in the day, said it had received a warning letter from the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) for the Goa manufacturing facility.For the Goa manufacturing facility inspection, conducted from 16-27 September 2019, the company has received a warning letter from USFDA, it said in a regulatory filing. Mumbai, Dec 5 () Equity benchmark BSE Sensex dropped over 100 points in afternoon session on Thursday, after the the Reserve Bank of India kept the key policy rate unchanged at 5.15 per cent and decided to continue with its accommodative stance to support the economy.
 In the fifth bi-monthly review of the policy, the central bank also revised GDP growth downwards to 5 per cent for 2019-20 from 6.1 per cent projected in its October policy.
 After opening higher by 84.17 points at 40,934.46 in opening deals, the 30-share index pared all gains to turn negative after the policy announcement by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
 It was trading 100.56 points, lower at 40,749.73 at 1149 hours. Similar movement was seen on the NSE and the broader NSE Nifty was trading 11.25 points, or 0.09 per cent, down at 12,031.95 at 1212 hrs.
 Top losers in the Sensex pack included Sun Pharma, Yes Bank, Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, IndusInd Bank shedding up to 2 per cent.
 On the other hand, TCS, Tech Mahindra, ITC, Larsen &amp; Toubro, Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank and Infosys bucked the trend and were trading in the positive territory with gains of as much as 1.20 per cent.
 Rate-sensitive banking stocks faced the heat, with the BSE bankex falling 0.36 per cent. BSE realty index also turned red.
 The rupee was also trading lower by 8 paise at 71.61 in afternoon session.
 Brent futures, the global oil benchmark, fell 0.32 per cent to USD 62.80 per barrel. DRR DRR
