Anand James, chief market strategist at Geojit Financial Services said “Expiry eve is a crucial day for expiry related trades as time decay sets in. As indices froze a little after 10 am, F&amp;O trades that reference such benchmark indices also slowed down. With hardly an hour's trade possible for such index-based traders the higher margins on F&amp;O positions may have been a double whammy.” The bourse said it depends on two telecom service providers for connectivity, and both failed simultaneously, resulting in the outage. India’s largest stock exchange halts trading after data glitches stop Nifty50 and Bank Nifty from updating

New Delhi, The National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Monday cautioned investors against some fraudsters running illegal <keyword id="93391" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dabba-trading" source="Orion">dabba trading</keyword> with guaranteed returns to investors. Dabba trading is an illegal form of trading in shares, where operators of such trading rings allow people to trade in equities outside the stock exchange platform. The cautionary statements came after NSE found that the entities -- Shri Parasnath Commodity Private Limited, Shri Parasnath Bullion Private Limited, Faary Tale Trading Private Limited and Bharat Kumar (associated with Trade with Trust) --were providing dabba or <keyword id="721899" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="illegal-trading" source="Orion">illegal trading</keyword> platform with assured returns. The exchange said that these persons are not registered either as a member or authorised persons of any registered member of the NSE. Moreover, a police complaint has been lodged in this regard. Cautioning investors, NSE asked them not to subscribe to any such scheme or product offered by any person or entity offering guaranteed returns in the stock market as the same is prohibited by law. "Investors are cautioned and advised not to trade on such illegal trading platforms. Participation in such illegal platforms is at the investor's own risk, cost and consequences as such illegal trading platforms are neither approved nor endorsed by the exchange," the bourse said. For any kind of disputes relating to such prohibited schemes, mechanisms such as benefits of investor protection under the exchange's jurisdiction, exchange dispute resolution mechanism and investor grievance redressal mechanism administered by the exchange, would not be available to investors, it added.

NSE memes flood social media as the stock exchange halts trading due to glitch

New Delhi, Dec 2 () Leading stock exchanges BSE and NSE on Monday suspended Karvy Stock Broking Ltd's trading licence for all segments due to non-compliance of the regulatory provisions of the bourses.
The move comes after Sebi, through an order passed on November 22, barred Karvy from taking new clients in respect of its stock broking activities and had also prevented it from using the power of attorney (PoA) given by clients after the broker was found to have allegedly misused clients' securities.
In two separate circulars, the bourses announced that they "have suspended Karvy Stock Broking Ltd with effect from December 2, 2019 due to non-compliance of the regulatory provisions of the exchange".
The BSE said it has deactivated trading terminals of Karvy in equity and debt segment and put them in the risk reduction mode in equity derivatives, currency derivatives and commodity segment.
Sebi's directive had come after the National Stock Exchange forwarded a preliminary report to it on the non-compliances observed with respect to pledging/misuse of client securities by Karvy.
The exchange's preliminary report is the result of the limited purpose inspection of Karvy conducted by it on August 19, covering a period from January 1 onwards, Sebi had said in its order. SP

OPG Securities, alleged to be the main beneficiary from preferential access, was also given a fine in separate <a href="https://www.sebi.gov.in/enforcement/orders/apr-2019/order-in-the-matter-of-opg-securities-private-limited_42879.html">order</a>, and barred from accessing securities markets for five years. India’s market regulator finally slapped a fine on the National Stock Exchange for giving preferential access to certain brokers

New Delhi, May 8 () Two exchanges at International Financial Services Centre in Gift City, India INX and NSE IFSC, on Friday launched trading in rupee-USD derivative contracts to enable participants to hedge, trade and settle in the dollar.With the launch, trades that have been migrated to other international financial centres will now bring rupee trading home.Besides, trading of INR-USD futures and options will enable participants to hedge, trade and settle in USD with market rules and ecosystem at GIFT City IFSC that is at par with other global markets.The launch was done virtually by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, where she rang the bell electronically and declared Rupee-Dollar Futures and Options contract open for trading on India INX and NSE IFSC, both exchanges said in separate statements."We welcome today's launch of rupee-dollar trading from the International Exchanges at GIFT IFSC. India INX, NSE IFSC launch rupee-USD derivative trading

New Delhi, Feb 4 () The National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday said it has launched Request for Quote (RFQ) platform for execution and settlement of trades which will allow market participants to transact in debt securities. 
The NSE RFQ platform can be accessed by eligible participants -- all regulated entities, listed corporates and institutional investors, among others, the exchange said in a statement.
The platform will provide market participants a range of options to seek a quote and to respond to a quote, while keeping an audit trail of all the interactions which include quoted yield, mutually agreed price and deal terms. This will bring pre-trade transparency in the transactions of eligible debt securities. 
 "The launch of 'NSE RFQ platform' is an important milestone for the debt market. The single platform for multiple debt securities including corporate bonds and government securities etc could go a long way in developing bond market in India," Sebi Chairman Ajay Tyagi said while launching the platform.
 NSE will manage the platform and will specify various parameters for facilitating effective interactions amongst the participants. The eligible transactions will be reported to the CBRICS reporting platform and will be settled by the NSE Clearing Ltd (NCL).
 "The NSE RFQ platform will facilitate further electronification of the debt markets in India. The platform will cover the entire process of seeking a quote for a security, interacting with various participants, doing multiple rounds of negotiation and recording all these chain of events in an electronic form," exchange's MD and CEO Vikram Limaye said.
 The platform is expected to increase the market activity in the debt markets along with bringing in required pre-trade transparency, he added.
 Rival bourse BSE activated its RFQ platform on Monday that enables trade execution and settlement in debt securities.

NSE launches Request for Quote platform in debt securities

New Delhi, Jan 13 () Shares of Coffee Day Enterprises and CG Power and Industrial Solutions on Monday fell by up to 5 per cent after the announcement that BSE and NSE will suspend trading in their shares from February 3 for not complying with listing norms.
 The scrip of Coffee Day Enterprises tanked 4.92 per cent to close at Rs 39.65 -- its lowest trading permissible limit for the day on the BSE.
 On the NSE, it dropped 4.91 per cent to close at Rs 39.65.
 Shares of CG Power and Industrial Solutions also declined 4.93 per cent to close at Rs 10.80 -- its lower circuit limit -- on the BSE and on the NSE, it dipped 4.88 per cent to Rs 10.70.
 Leading stock exchanges BSE and NSE will suspend trading in shares of cafe chain operator Coffee Day Enterprises and fraud-hit CG Power and Industrial Solutions from February 3 for not complying with listing norms pertaining to submission of quarterly financial results.
 However, if companies comply with the provisions of listing norms on or before January 29, trading in its securities will not be suspended, BSE and NSE said in separate circulars.
 The exchanges said these firms have not submitted the financial results for June 2019 and September 2019 quarter and/or not paid the fine amount levied for the non-compliance, as required under the listing norms of Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
 Consequently, trading in securities of these companies will be suspended with effect from February 3, 2020 "on account of non-compliance with Regulation 33 of Sebi (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015 for two consecutive quarters -- June 2019 and September 2019." Coffee Day, CG Power shares fall on trading suspension announcement

New Delhi, Feb 13 () Mahindra EPC Irrigation on Thursday announced that the National Stock Exchange has approved its application for the listing of shares. The company, it said, has made an application for listing of equity shares on the NSE. "We would like to further inform that the National Stock Exchange of IndiaLimited (NSE) has approved our application for listing and the date of listing of our equity shares would be February 14, 2020," the company said in a filing to the BSE. The trading of the shares at NSE may follow soon thereafter, the filing said. On the BSE, the shares were trading at Rs 153.00 apiece in the morning trade, up 4.01 per cent from their previous close.
