However, the broader Indian markets were not impacted, as communication lines at BSE continued even as NSE faced troubles. The traders were left in a lurch about their positions a day ahead of derivative contracts' monthly expiry. Anand James, chief market strategist at Geojit Financial Services said “Expiry eve is a crucial day for expiry related trades as time decay sets in. As indices froze a little after 10 am, F&amp;O trades that reference such benchmark indices also slowed down. With hardly an hour's trade possible for such index-based traders the higher margins on F&amp;O positions may have been a double whammy.” The bourse said it depends on two telecom service providers for connectivity, and both failed simultaneously, resulting in the outage. The glitch occurred as rates on NSE stopped updating at 10.08, which led to the closure of the F&amp;O segment by 11.40 am and the cash market by 11.43 am. India’s largest stock exchange halts trading after data glitches stop Nifty50 and Bank Nifty from updating

Drug maker <keyword id="63358" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Cadila-Healthcare">Cadila Healthcare</keyword> Limited has clarified that its drugs in the US have been recalled by its US subsidiary, Zydus Pharma USA; it was a class III type recall. The company gave the clarification following a news report that stated that the company had to recall one of its drugs in the US market. 
	 "The recall by our US subsidiary was voluntary and a class-III type recall, which means that the use of the product is not likely to cause any adverse health co<keyword id="6354646" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="NSE">nse</keyword>quences. There is no material impact”, said the company in a letter to the National Stock Exchange (NSE). 
	 The NSE on December 31, 2014, had sought clarification from the pharma major after a news report suggested that along with Wockhardt and Hospira, Cadila too has voluntarily recalled 58,920 bottles of Benzonatate Capsules—these medicines are used to treat coughs. The US Food and Drug Administration (<keyword id="6354656" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="FDA">FDA</keyword>) had published this information on its website.

Cadila Clarifies Voluntary Recall Of Drugs In
The US Market

India’s market bellweather <keyword id="43628" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bombay-stock-exchange">Bombay Stock Exchange</keyword> (BSE) and <keyword id="53581" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="NATIONAL-STOCK-EXCHANGE">National Stock Exchange</keyword> (NSE) have sought clarification after ousted Chairman of Tata Sons <keyword id="6356895" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Cyrus-Mistry">Cyrus Mistry</keyword> warned that <keyword id="6355725" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Group">Tata Group</keyword> faces $18 billion in writedowns. 
 
The two leading bourses NSE and BSE have written to some of the listed Tata Group companies in this matter. 
 
Mistry, on Wednesday, wrote an email to board members of the Tata Group and termed the decision as “shocking”. Mistry claimed he was never given a free hand and Tata’s Nano project was taken up as it was Ratan Tata’s dream. 
 
In his e-mail, Mistry said the group took emotional decisions rather than being practical. 
 
A notice on the BSE said, "The exchanges have sought clarification from the company with respect to a news article appearing on Bloomberg on October 26, 2016 titled 'Ousted Tata Chief Says Group Faces $18 Billion in Writedowns'. The reply is awaited." The BSE, NSE have written to Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Tata Power and other group companies. 
 
Tata Power, in its reply, stated the article was, "with comments purported to have been made by ex-chairman of Tata Sons regarding the company's Mundra ultra power project. The company has always made all relevant disclosures, as required, and has no further comments to offer." 
 
Replies from other Tata Group companies are awaited. 
 
Meanwhile, markets regulator SEBI (Securities Exchange Board of India) has been following the developments at the Tata Group closely. "After the exchanges report to us on these developments (at the Tata Group), we will decide our next course of action," a top regulatory official told ET.

 Confirming the development, BSE MD and chief executive Ashish Kumar Chauhan said in an event that the total number of <keyword id="6354763" type="EVENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="IPO">IPO</keyword> issues on such platform is expected to be around 100 this fiscal. 
 
These companies are from various sectors including trading, steel, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=manufacturing">manufacturing</a>, textile and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=finance+">finance</a> and are spread across the country. 
In March 2012, BSE and the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=National+Stock+Exchange">National Stock Exchange (NSE</a>) had launched SME platforms, becoming the only two bourses to offer such a segment in the country. 
 
BSE has about 110 companies listed on its SME platform, with a total market capitalisation of over Rs 7,733 crore. This platform has helped the listed SMEs to mobilise over Rs 832 crore. 
 The <keyword id="6354646" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="NSE">NSE</keyword> has 30 companies trading on its SME platform. The platforms provide opportunity to entrepreneurs to raise equity capital for growth and expansion. It also provides immense opportunity for investors to identify and invest in good SMEs at an early stage.

New Delhi, May 27 () Shares of Axis Bank on Wednesday zoomed over 14 per cent amid reports of fund infusion by private equity firm Carlyle. The stock jumped 13.46 per cent to close at Rs 387.35 on the BSE. During the trade, it advanced 14.96 per cent to Rs 392.50. On the NSE, it soared 14.23 per cent to settle at Rs 389.90. Axis Bank was the top gainer in the Sensex and Nifty pack. The company's market valuation jumped Rs 12,976.83 crore to Rs 1,09,308.83 crore on the BSE. In terms of volume, 20.52 lakh shares were traded on the BSE and over one crore on the NSE. According to reports, American company Carlyle may infuse USD 1 billion to own up to 8 per cent of Axis Bank. Issuing a clarification in this matter the bank said, "we would like to clarify that the news item is speculative and the bank has not taken any such decision in this regard...the bank shall keep the exchange duly informed as and when any decision is taken by it in this matter." Axis Bank shares jump over 14 pc amid fund infusion buzz

Warding off the anxiety of its employees over the merger with <keyword id="46013" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kotak-Mahindra-Bank">Kotak Mahindra Bank</keyword>, private bank <keyword id="2672898" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="ING-Vyasya">ING Vyasya</keyword> has clarified that the proposed merger with Kotak Bank will not affect the employees of the company. 
	 “The merger process entails as per the Banking Regulations Act, approval of the shareholders and thereafter approval from the RBI in addition to CCI’s approval. All protection related to employees has already been captured in the Scheme of Amalgamation which upon approval by RBI, Kotak Mahindra Bank shall fully standby and is obligated to comply with including sections related to employees job security, wages, pension including dearness allowance linked adjustments, provident fund, gratuity etc,” said the company in a letter to the National Stock Exchange (<keyword id="6354646" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="NSE">NSE</keyword>) in a letter dated January 5, 2015. 
	 
	It further added, “As is evident, we would like to start with a good faith constructive approach that secures all employees and creates growth for all stakeholders including employees after the RBI order. ” 
	 
	In a regular correspondence with the bank, the NSE had sought clarification from the company (ING Vyasya) after a news report suggested that the employees are worried about the proposed merger. 
	 
	According to the report, ING Vyasya staff is worried as Kotak Mahindra bank has not made any commitment regarding the continuation of the existing service conditions. It should be noted that following the amalgamation, more than 4,000 employees from ING Vyasya would be on the payroll of Kotak Bank.

Mumbai, Jun 24 () Equity benchmark Sensex advanced over 200 points in early trade on Wednesday tracking gains in index-heavyweights Reliance Industries and ITC amid sustained foreign fund inflows. After touching a high of 35,679.74, the 30-share index was trading 220.35 points, or 0.62 per cent, up at 35,650.78. Similarly, NSE Nifty rose 56.45 points, or 0.54 per cent, to 10,527.45. Asian Paints was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, rallying around 4 per cent, followed by ITC, Bajaj Auto, Bajaj Finance, NTPC and Titan. On the other hand, HCL Tech, IndusInd Bank, PowerGrid and Infosys were among the laggards. In the previous session, the BSE barometer rallied 519.11 points, or 1.49 per cent, to close at 35,430.43; while the NSE Nifty soared 159.80 points, or 1.55 per cent, to end at 10,471. On a net basis, foreign institutional investors bought equities worth Rs 168.96 crore in the capital market on Tuesday, provisional exchange data showed. According to analysts, news of disengagement between India and China has relieved participants, after days of heated arguments. Further, positive sentiment in global markets and unabated foreign fund inflows also supported domestic equities, they said. On the global front, bourses in Shanghai and Seoul were trading with gains in early deals, while those in Hong Kong and Tokyo were in the red.
