This came after several traders and investors took to social media platforms to report glitches and problems that restricted them from trading on the index. Accordingly, the technical glitch impacted intra-day trading on futures and cash segments. The glitch occurred as rates on NSE stopped updating at 10.08, which led to the closure of the F&amp;O segment by 11.40 am and the cash market by 11.43 am. India’s largest stock exchange halts trading after data glitches stop Nifty50 and Bank Nifty from updating

The rupee fell 4 paise to 83.48 against the <keyword id="19949640" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="US-dollar" source="keywords">US dollar</keyword> on Thursday due to firm American currency and an upward trend in <keyword id="20024983" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="crude-oil-prices" source="keywords">crude oil prices</keyword> overseas. The local unit resisted the fall amid the unabated inflow of <keyword id="20480744" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="foreign-capital" source="keywords">foreign capital</keyword> but gave in to the pressure due to a muted trend in the domestic equity markets, <keyword id="20024982" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="forex-traders" source="keywords">forex traders</keyword> said. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the local unit opened at 83.43 and lost further to 83.48 against the greenback, registering a fall of 4 paise from its previous close. On Wednesday, the rupee settled 1 paisa lower at 83.44 against the US dollar. "The local currency's upward momentum was halted by a strong US dollar and rising crude oil prices in the international market," said Anand James, Chief Market Strategist, Geojit Financial Services. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, was trading higher by 0.02 per cent at 104.90. Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, advanced 0.02 per cent to USD 85.09 per barrel. In the domestic equity markets, the 30-share BSE Sensex fell 72.43 points, or 0.09 per cent, to 77,265.16 points. The broader NSE Nifty declined 30.25 points, or 0.13 per cent, to 23,485.75 points. Sensex rallies over 1000 points after extended trading session

New Delhi, Mar 13 () Stock market witnessed a halt in trading for the first time in more than 12 years on Friday morning after benchmarks hit circuit breakers on panic selling triggered by concerns over coronavirus pandemic.The BSE and NSE stopped trading for 45 minutes starting from little past 9.20 am.To curb excessive volatility, circuit breakers are triggered on the basis of three thresholds for stock movement -- 10 per cent, 15 per cent and 20 per cent. The BSE and the NSE compute the index circuit breaker limits for 10 per cent, 15 per cent and 20 per cent levels on a daily basis based on the previous day's closing level of the index rounded off to the nearest tick size, HDFC Securities said citing regulatory framework. For 10 per cent movement before 1 pm, trading is halted for 45 minutes. The break time is 15 minutes for 10 per cent movement between 1 pm and 2.30 pm while there would be no halt in case the same happens after 2.30 pm. As per norms, trading would be halted for 1.45 hours if there is 15 per cent movement before 1 pm and 45 minutes for such movement between 1 pm and 2 pm. Trading would be stopped for the day in case the 15 per cent movement is on or after 2 pm. Finally, a 20 per cent movement at any point of time would result in complete halt of trading for the day. Geojit Financial Services Chief Investment Strategist V K Vijaykumar said the last time there was a circuit freeze and trading halt was on January 22, 2008. There was also a brief trading halt on the National Stock Exchange on October 5, 2012 due to a freak trade. Before trading was halted on Friday, nearly Rs 13 lakh worth investor wealth evaporated in less than 15 minutes of market open. "Last time, we had a circuit freeze and halt to trading was on January 22, 2008 when the Sensex had its biggest till date loss of 1,408 points. This was also the first ever four-digit crash in the Sensex. Bourses halt trading for first time in 12 years

Mumbai, Mar 13 () Equity benchmark Sensex plummeted over 3,200 points and the broader Nifty sank near 8,600 level, hitting their lower circuit limits, in opening session on Friday as coronavirus pandemic-led recession fears fuelled worldwide panic. Stock exchanges have halted trading for 45 minutes. Manic selling across the globe rendered stocks at multi-year lows. Continuing its downward spiral, domestic BSE Sensex sank 3,213 points in early trade, plunging 10.86 per cent to 29,564.58, which triggered the lower circuit limit. Similarly, the NSE Nifty cracked 966.10 points, or 10.07 per cent, to 8,624.05. In the previous session, the 30-share BSE barometer settled 2,919.26 points or 8.18 per cent lower at 32,778.14, and the broader Nifty slumped 868.25 points or 8.30 per cent to close at 9,590.15. On a net basis, foreign institutional investors sold equities worth Rs 3,475.29 crore on Thursday, data available with stock exchanges showed. All Sensex components were in the red. HCL Tech was the top loser, tanking up to 15 per cent, followed by Tech Mahindra, Kotak Bank, TCS, IndusInd Bank, Axis Bank and NTPC. According to traders, volatility heightened in global markets as benchmarks world over went into panic mode, insinuating a freakish selloff. Wall Street lost 10 per cent in its worst session since 1987, while London also had its worst day since that year. Frankfurt had its blackest day since 1989, the year the Berlin Wall fell, while Paris suffered its worst one-day loss on record. Besides selloff in global equities, choppiness in international oil prices and depreciating rupee added to investor concerns, they added. The rupee depreciated 13 paise to 74.41 per US dollar (intra-day). Brent crude oil futures dropped 0.90 per cent to USD 32.92 per barrel. Further, incessant foreign fund outflow also spooked market participants, traders said. Elsewhere in Asia, bourses in Shanghai dropped over 3.32 per cent, Hong Kong 5.61 per cent, Seoul 7.58 per cent and Tokyo cracked up to 7.97 per cent. Within minutes after listing, the shares of Nureca gained 5% of their value and were trading at ₹666 apiece at 10:05 am in a robust market. The company's market value expanded to ₹665 crore after the listing. The company, incorporated in 2016, engages in the business of home healthcare and wellness products. It sells blood pressure monitors, pulse oximeters, thermometers, nebulisers, and self-monitoring glucose devices under the brand name Dr Trust. Nureca's asset-light business model was successful in attracting investment experts. The model allows Nureca to enter into agreements with vendors who manufacture the products as per the specifications. This allows the company to quickly scale its operations at a predetermined cost without incurring any capital expenditure on manufacturing facilities. The initial public offer of Nureca, which closed last month, was subscribed 40 times. The offer of the Nureca, which got fully subscribed on the first day itself on February 16, received bids for 5.5 crore shares against 14 lakh shares on offer. The category reserved for retail investors received the strongest response and was subscribed 166.65 times. The non-institutional investors' category was subscribed 31.59 times, and qualified institutional buyers(QIBs) was subscribed 3.10 times. Grey market premium fizzled out ahead of the listing Although the high number of subscriptions showed an excellent demand for its shares, just days ahead of the listing, the company's grey market premium fizzled nearly 50%, amid the high market volatility this week. The shares that were earlier commanding a premium of ₹150-160 were significantly down to ₹70-80 a share. Nureca stocks debut on bourses at 59% premium over IPO price

New Delhi, Mar 19 () Shares of Yes Bank on Thursday halted its four-session rally and plunged over 29 per cent after the company said its single largest promoter Madhu Kapur has pledged an additional 25 lakh share of her family's shareholding in the bank. The scrip plummeted 25.74 per cent to Rs 45.15 at the BSE. On the NSE, it cracked 29.19 per cent to Rs 42.80. In the last four trading days, the company's scrip had risen a whopping 142 per cent after Moody's upgraded the company's ratings and on announcement of a restructuring plan. Yes Bank, which came out of the RBI moratorium on Wednesday evening, said its single largest promoter Madhu Kapur, the widow of its founder chairman Ashok Kapur, has pledged an additional 0.098 per cent or 25 lakh share of her family's shareholding of 6.87 per cent in the bank. In an exchange filing last evening, the bank said Kapur has only 0.117 per cent or 3 lakh shares which are not pledged now. SUM DRRDRR
