The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 185 points lower, and the S&amp;P 500 was down 0.44%. These are the stocks to watch out for during the trading session today: NMDC The ₹1,378-crore share buyback of the state-owned National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) will be starting on December 17 and will remain open till December 31. The shares of NMDC closed 5% higher on Monday. RIL, Airtel and Vodafone-idea The telecom arm of RIL, Reliance Jio, has accused Airtel and Vodafone Idea of resorting to unethical ways to spread rumours that Reliance stands to gain from the new farm laws. The telecom operator in a letter to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has sought strict action against the two companies and said that such acts of the rival companies could jeopardise safety and security of Jio’s employees. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) IT services major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) said it had expanded its strategic partnership with Star Alliance, the world’s largest airline alliance with 26 members including Air India, Air Canada and Air China. Tata Steel Tata Steel has acquired 4.32% additional equity in Tata Steel Minerals Canada, taking its overall indirect shareholding to 82% in the company. The rating agency has reaffirmed the long-term rating at AA-plus, suggesting a high degree of safety and very low credit risk, the company said in its regulatory filing. Lakshmi Vilas Bank locked in 10% upper circuit The shares of Lakshmi Vilas Bank were locked in a 10% upper circuit after the bank said the Clix Group have substantially completed the due diligence on a proposed amalgamation of the financial services company with the bank. In June, Lakshmi Vilas bank had signed a preliminary, non-binding letter of intent (LoI) with Clix Capital Services Private Limited and Clix Finance India Private Limited, collectively the Clix Group, in relation to the proposed amalgamation of Clix Group with the Bank. MRPL and ONGC Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals will buy 49% stake in ONGC for ₹ 1,220 crore. Also, ONGC has issued non-convertible debentures worth ₹1,140 crore on a private placement basis. ACC The cement maker ACC reported a 20.25% increase in consolidated net profit to ₹363.85 crore for the third quarter ended September 30. The company follows the January-December financial year. Its futures also posted the sharpest gain -- 4.8 percent -- in derivatives trade. Vedanta and other metal companies such as SAIL, <keyword id="6357147" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tata-Steel">Tata Steel</keyword>, NMDC etc are in an intense bear grip as global prices of metals collapse and demand remains tepid.

Infosys share price hits fresh 52-week high after highest-ever deal wins of over $3 billion

Mumbai, International quick-service restaurant chain, <keyword id="9903617" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="burger-king-india-ltd">Burger King India Ltd</keyword> (BKIL) began its journey on Indian bourses with a stupendous opening garnering a premium of over 130% on the first day of trade on Monday hitting the upper circuit just after 2.30 p.m. Against the issue price of ₹60, <keyword id="33542" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Burger-King">Burger King</keyword> stock opened at ₹115.35 on BSE, while on the National Stock Exchange, shares made a debut at %112.50, a premium of over 87% over the <keyword id="72231" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="IPO-price">IPO price</keyword>. After 2.30 p.m., the stock reached the upper price band of ₹138.40, 130.67% higher than the issue price on BSE. The upper circuit halts the trading in stocks for some time. The performance of the stock had even defied projections made by analysts who had expected Burger King to list at around 70-75% premium over issue price. "Such listing was in line with our expectation as the company issue was priced at a significant discount compared to listed peers such as Jubilant FoodWorks (Domino's Pizza) and Westlife Development (McDonald). One is that metals stocks are always linked to crude oil prices and, right now, they have jumped $84 per barrel, which is probably at a recent high. Usually when crude prices go up, base commodity prices also go up, which is a good thing for metal companies,” said Deven R Choksey, managing director at KR Choksey Investment Managers told Business Insider. Currently, the crude oil prices are at $85 per barrel, trading at a 2-month high after the US oil inventory fell for the seventh straight week to levels last seen in 2018. Note that crude oil is a basic input in the production process and is used to fuel cars and planes for transportation and generate electricity for use in production of goods and services. So any change in the price of oil will impact the costs for the company and hence increase the product price. Another reason for the rise in metal prices is that companies had cut down production in recent weeks because they thought the demand wasn’t strong enough. “Anywhere across the globe particularly Europe production capacities at being pared, they (companies) are not increasing the production be it because of environment issues or covid related restrictions. Many companies have been keeping their production capacity at a lower level, which is resulting in higher prices of the product due to shortage of supply,” added Choksey.
