During this time, she woke up at 4 a.m. and studied for at least 10-12 hours each day.Some prefer to take an easier route.The Journal found that several students had paid $15,000-20,000 to illegally look at the question paper before the exam. BI could not independently verify the figures.The police made multiple arrests related to exam cheating after results showed that 67 people received perfect scores in the NEET exams this year."Question papers are sold at extravagantly high prices," Ashok Rathore, a police officer who investigated cheating linked to India's medical school exam, told the Journal. "It's a nexus of desperate students, parents, tuition centers and printing presses."<h2 id="378edaf6-be36-458e-8847-661e66638c81">Leaked questions</h2>One student told BI that several Telegram channels dedicated to exam prep saw messages encouraging students "struggling with exams and don't have time for studies" to get in touch for "help.""My friend said he was asked to pay around 15,000 rupees ($180) to enter the private channel where they shared the questions," she said.BI reached out to the Telegram account offering "help". The person said they can provide next year's medical entrance exam questions for around 1 lakh rupees ($1,200).High ranks in these exams mean coveted "seats" in medical colleges operated by the state and national governments. Those with money can still legally obtain places in private medical colleges if they pay fees ranging from $115,000 to $145,000.However, some students with the financial capacity prefer cheating and getting a government seat instead."It makes very good economic sense," a senior medical advisor with knowledge of the matter told BI. "The question paper will be given for about 25 lakh rupees (around $29,000). For that much, they get a free seat in a government college where they only have to pay around 16,000 rupees ($190) per annum.""For the entire five-year degree, that still only comes to around one lakh rupees ($1191), so of course rich students would rather do that instead of paying their way into private medical schools."<h2 id="4ff61c3d-756d-47c9-8f47-2f6be9f1f6a0">Earning a 'merit' seat</h2>The advisor — who preferred to remain anonymous but whose identity is known to BI — also said there is a significant amount of respect that comes with having "earned" a merit seat instead of paying their way into a private "management" seat."Unfortunately, there are very few objective metrics that people have as outsiders to judge the competence of their doctors, especially at a time when everybody in India sits with an MBBS board outside their clinic," agreed Asish George, a doctor who cleared the entrance exam in 2014."For those people, the fact that someone cracked a highly competitive entrance exam and got in would inspire more confidence than someone who paid their way through the whole thing."According to the Journal, authorities in India have tried to install video cameras inside exam halls and increased their monitoring of social media to catch cheaters. But many are still finding ways to illegally gain the upper hand, at a high price. The NTA did not immediately respond to a request by BI for comment.

Stalin will table a bill seeking exemption from NEET exams in Tamil Nadu

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is now inviting applications for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020. This year onwards, NEET will be the only entrance examination for applying to all the undergraduate courses in medicine — including All India Institute for Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) and other private colleges. <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/home/education/news/neet-2020-application-registration-process-to-begin-today-at-ntaneet-nic-in-check-important-points-here/articleshow/72325284.cms">According to</a> TOI, this year the agency has added a security feature to the examination — it will use artificial intelligence to crack down on any suspicious cases of blurred or similar-looking photographs. The NTA will release the application forms today i.e December 2, 2019 on its official website at ntaneet.nic.in at 4 pm. The last date to register is December 31. The entrance examination for all the MBBS and dental course seats will be held on May 3, 2020 and the regulatory body will roll out the admit cards on March 27. The results are expected to be declared on June 4. The test will comprise of a total of 180 questions from three sections — Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The candidates will have to upload both passport-size and postcard size photographs along with the online application. The application fee for candidates from the general category is ₹1,500 and ₹1,400 for the EWS/OBC category. And for the transgender and SC/ST candidates, the application fee is at ₹800. The application procedure will be updated as the registration opens.

NEET 2020: NTA to declare medical entrance exam results today — Here’s how to check the scorecard

Under this, the government will introduce fee relaxation for students enrolling in private institutions. “The Medical Assessment and Rating Board will grant permission for new medical colleges, starting PG courses and increasing seats based on the standards set by the UG and PG boards,” the Cabinet noted. The NMC will constitute three autonomous bodies — Under-Graduate Medical Education Board, Post-Graduate Medical Education Board, and Ethics and Medical Registration Board — which will focus on ensuring global standards of education. Every year, 80,000 students take admission in MBBS courses across the country. While 150,000 take the entrance examination to enroll in 50,000 seats for PG courses. Now, MBBS doctors need not take extra exams for licences, PG admissions

The University of Delhi also abbreviated as DU is a public central university created in 1922. DU offers a wide range of courses in the under graduation, graduation, doctoral levels besides many diploma courses across a diverse range of fields like humanities, science, commerce, management, law, and engineering. Here we discuss how to get admission to the DU for the various graduate programs. Entry into Delhi University Admissions to DU are based on merit. The candidates seeking admission to the various courses need to clear an entrance examination conducted by NATA. For management courses, the scores of the CAT examination will be considered. For providing admissions to the dental and medical courses, NEET scores will be taken into account. Eligibility criteria for admission While seeking admission to the various courses in DU, students must ascertain if they satisfy the eligibility criteria specified by the university. Students of any age can seek admission to the various courses excepting in courses where the regulatory authorities including MCI, BCI, DCI and AICTE have specified the age limit. For taking admission to the various graduation courses the students must have completed 10+2 education in their school level with the main subjects related to the courses they wish to pursue in the graduation level. Entrance examination pattern The entrance examination pattern of the DU consists of multiple choice questions excepting in case of admission to language courses. The total duration of the entrance examination will be two hours. The students will have to take the entrance tests on computer-based mode. For UG courses, each question carries four marks with one negative mark for a wrong answer. The syllabus for the entrance tests for the UG courses will be based on the topics students studied in their plus 2 levels in their respective streams. The way to score well in the DU entrance exams for graduation courses includes becoming familiar with the exam syllabus, mastering the exam preparation materials available in the market, and practicing the previous year question papers. Admission process after the entrance examinations The results of the various entrance exams will be announced online in the month of July. For each of the categories, a separate merit list will be prepared by the university. The students are required to take a print out of the results for moving ahead with the subsequent admission process. For admission to the various merit-based UG courses, the university will announce the cutoff. The same will be published on the official website of the DU. The cut off will vary year on year depending on the demand of the seats in the given course. Candidates scoring the marks specified in the cut off can apply for admission. Scanned copies of the required documents will have to be uploaded online and once the admission is approved, the candidates will have to pay the admission fee online.

Now, the international students who enrol in online classes initially for university courses in the UK will also be eligible for the post study work-visa. In an <a href="https://study-uk.britishcouncil.org/sites/default/files/letter_to_prospective_international_students.pdf">open lette</a>r to international students, the UK Minister of State for Universities, Michelle Donelan MP together with Education Ministers from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, as well as the Minister for Exports at the Department of International Trade, said that “International students present in the UK before 6 April 2021 will still be eligible for the two year Graduate route, if you meet the other requirements of the route, even if you begin your course online before travelling to the UK in person.” The UK government also addressed the concerns around the study visa. The foreign students will be able to apply for a Tier IV visa soon. “Despite some COVID-19 disruptions to visa processes and exam timetables, you can still get started with the process. For example, you can familiarise yourself with UK visa requirements and talk to your chosen universities about evidence you may need to supply for a visa application,” the letter<a href="https://study-uk.britishcouncil.org/sites/default/files/letter_to_prospective_international_students.pdf"> said</a>. This comes after many students who were earlier considering universities abroad now cancelled their plans due to coronavirus. Many universities have shifted to online classes for even full-time courses for the current semester. However, the students are preferring to defer to next year to enroll in the January 2021 batch because they are still unsure of the online model. “The recent changes to post-study work, which will now be available to international graduates for two years, including those who have undertaken part of their studies online due to COVID-19, is a welcome move. These practical changes and this initiative to directly address international students looking to the UK as a study destination will go a long way to reassuring prospective international students that the UK is still the best destination for their studies,” said Emma Lancaster, CEO of <keyword id="307962" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Study-Group">Study Group</keyword>, which prepares foreign students for university degree programmes. Padmavati, India's first female cardiologist, has passed away due to Covid-19 at the age of 103 after battling the disease for 11 days. In a statement on Sunday, O.P. Yadava, Chief Executive Officer of Delhi's National Heart Institute said: "Our very own Madam Padmavati has left us all, after her centurial terrestrial journey. She fought corona bravely but chose to move on at 11.09 p.m. on August 29. Let us keep her in our prayers forever and long." According to another statement by the National Heart Institute, also issued on Sunday, she was admitted with Covid-19 and had breathing difficulty and fever. "She developed pneumonia in both lungs and needed ventilator support. However, she sustained a cardiac arrest and passed away," it said. The noted cardiologist, also a recipient of <keyword id="9774748" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="the-padma-vibhushan">the Padma Vibhushan</keyword>, had set up the National Heart Institute of the All India Heart Foundation and had served as its Director and President. Born in Myanmar on June 20, 1917, Padmavati earned an M.B.B.S degree from the medical College Rangoon. She had to leave the country due to the Second World War and settle in India. On her return to India, she joined the Lady Hardinge Medical College in New Delhi as a lecturer in Medicine, subsequently becoming Professor and Head of the Department. Later, she moved to the Maulana Azad Medical College as Director Principal and later as Consultant in Cardiology and Director at <keyword id="9855431" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="the-govind-ballabh-pant-hospital">the Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital</keyword>. Her research work has been on rheumatic heart disease, cor pulmonale, hypertension and coronary artery disease with special reference to epidemiology and prevention. The acclaimed doctor has published extensively in prestigious journals in India and abroad. She has taught undergraduates, post-graduates and post-doctoral fellows for over 45 years. Besides being awarded <keyword id="100507" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Padma-Bhushan">Padma Bhushan</keyword> in 1967, admavati also won the Padma Vibhushan in 1992, Harvard Medical International Award in 2003, B.C. Roy Award in 1975, Kamala Menon Research Award in 1975 and several others.
