The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Super Speciality (<keyword id="20333776" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="NEET-SS" source="keywords">NEET-SS</keyword>) can be taken by <keyword id="20000183" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Doctors" source="keywords">doctors</keyword> having post-graduate degrees like MD, MS, and DNB, or an equivalent qualification for admission to super-speciality courses. A bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra was told by a lawyer, appearing for 13 aspirants, that the NMC has decided to not hold the exam this year. As per news reports, NEET-SS is likely to be conducted in January 2025. While issuing notices to the Centre, <keyword id="20457328" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Medical-Counselling-Committee" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Medical Counselling Committee" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Medical Counselling Committee">Medical Counselling Committee</keyword> and the NMC, the bench also gave liberty to petitioners Rahul Balwan and 12 others to make NBE (<keyword id="20123831" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="National-Board-of-Examinations" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="National Board of Examinations" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="National Board of Examinations">National Board of Examinations</keyword>) a party to the petition and listed it for hearing on July 26. Referring to an earlier judgement, the petitioners said NEET-SS has to be held every year and, moreover, the time schedule has already been fixed by the top court for admission to super-speciality courses. The lawyer said the decision to postpone the exam this year apparently stemmed from the fact that there were delayed admissions to medical courses earlier due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

After being pushed by the Supreme Court, the <keyword id="6356303" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Centre" source="Orion">Centre</keyword> on Wednesday told the top court that NEET-Super Speciality exam scheduled in November this year will be held as per the old question pattern. Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati, representing the Centre, submitted before a bench headed by Justice D.Y. Chandrachud that in the larger interest of students, the government has decided that the revised <keyword id="12191324" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="NEET-SS-exam" source="Orion">NEET-SS exam</keyword> syllabus will be introduced from 2022 -- the new question pattern will be applicable from next year. The bench replied that the "government has been very fair". Bhati said the exam scheduled this year will be held as per the old pattern. Advocate <keyword id="6368850" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="prashant-bhushan" source="Orion">Prashant Bhushan</keyword>, representing a petitioner, submitted that this should not in any way imply that the court is accepting the revised pattern exam for the next year. The bench recorded that the Centre states that decision has been taken in consultation with the National Medical Commission (NMC) and National Board of Examinations (NBE) and taking note of students' interest who would have commenced preparation for NEET-SS, before the change of pattern was notified. The bench said the Centre has stated that the modified pattern will be in effect from academic year 2022-23. "Since the grievance addressed under Article 32, and in these circumstances petitions under Article 32 are disposed of", said the bench. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court pulling up the Centre on the changes in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Super Specialty (NEET-SS) 2021 pattern, said the impression and message which will go out is that the medical education and medical regulation in the country has become a business and it appears the entire haste is for filling the vacant seats. On the aspect of syllabus change, the bench told the NBE counsel, "What was the hurry. You have an examination pattern which had been going on from 2018 to 2020." The top court said: "The impression we get is that the medical education has become a business and medical regulation has also become a business". The bench also comprising Justices Vikram Nath and B.V. Nagarathna said this would become a tragedy for the medical education in the country. Defending the pattern change, the Centre had proposed deferring the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (<keyword id="6361994" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="neet" source="Orion">NEET</keyword>) Super Speciality exam for 2021 by a period of two months. The top court was hearing a plea by Prateek Rastogi and 40 postgraduate qualified doctors, who challenged the abrupt last-minute changes, contending that they were made to favour the general medicine candidates. Bengaluru, Apr 20 () The Karnataka government onMonday launched a free online crash course "GetCETGo" to helpall students of the state prepare for CET and NEET 2020 examsduring COVID-19 lockdown.Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa launched "GetCETGo" inthe presence of Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for HigherEducation C N Ashwath Narayan, an official release said.It said, in view of the current situation across thenation due to COVID-19 lockdown, the Department of HigherEducation, taking cognisance of the situation has decided toreach out to the student community eyeing on successfullycracking competitive exams for career progress through thisonline crash course programme.The initiative will help young students who are at thecrucial juncture of their lives - in II PUC or Class 12, atthe time when regular classes and coaching initiatives whichusually cater to these aspirations being put off due to thelockdown, it added.Stating that the free programme made available to allstudents who are registered for Karnataka Common Entrance Test(KCET)- 2020, the release said, registered students will beprovided with a user ID and password to access the same.The web portal and Android App - along with thecontent for the Crash Course have been developed by SinchuInfotech and Deeksha Online, a reputed name in the industrywith a very successful track record for the past couple ofdecades, it added.The comprehensive platform for the crash course withthe videos, synopsis, interactive tests will be the firstinitiative by any state, especially of this scale on an onlineplatform for competitive examination in the country, itfurther said, adding that this scheme is intended to benefitall the 1,94,000 students who have registered for thisprogramme.
