But so what? What mattered was that they could finally attend Coldplay's concert. At 12 noon on September 22, when bookings for Coldplay’s 2025 India leg of “Music of the Sphere” world tour had commenced, A was also in line, having logged in since 11:30 am, from 4 different screens and through 6 cousins. But God, and BMS were in no mood to reward her efforts and patience. The ticket sale lasted for a mere few seconds, before the site crashed and all tickets were sold out. And per Coldplay, “If you were to ask me, after all that we've been through. Still believe in magic?”, the only acceptable response is “Yes I do, of course I do!” So, they went ahead, agreed to pay Rs 35,000, and bought Coldplay tickets which would’ve cost them Rs 6,450 via BMS. A steep price to pay, but at least they had their ticket to “an experience of a lifetime!”. As it is, the band had announced its retirement post its 12th album, and the band had just launched its 10th album, "Moon Music". <h2>BookMyShow to “fix” scalpers?</h2>But this morning, BMS startled many people like A by stating that unethically sourced tickets (read: tickets not directly booked via BMS) could be canceled. The ticketing platform added that they had provided details of all resellers that had caught their sight, including independent individuals reselling tickets for Coldplay’s tour across social media platforms such as Instagram (where A had purchased their tickets from) and WhatsApp. Not just these small resellers, but multinational ticket exchange and <keyword id="23273060" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ticket-resale" source="keywords">ticket resale</keyword> platform <keyword id="23278340" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="viagogo" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="viagogo" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="viagogo">Viagogo</keyword>, and its parent company StubHub Holdings have also been served legal notices by Zomato Live and BMS. While Zomato Live has not commented on if the tickets purchased via Viagogo or such scalpers would be canceled or not, it is no secret that hours after the tickets were shown as sold out on these official sites, tickets for both Diljit and Coldplay’s concert were available on Viagogo, albeit at sky-high prices. Even as of today, you can buy tickets for Coldplay’s concert in Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium on January 19th, 2025 on Viagogo. The catch? You should be willing to empty your pockets. Consider this. Tickets for level 2 stand E were priced at Rs 9,000 on BMS. On Viagogo, the tickets for this specific category start at Rs 54,431, and go as high as Rs 1,89,512. The tickets A bought were also originally priced at Rs 6,450. But on Viagogo, the starting range is Rs 31,288, going up to Rs 1,13,207. Talk about earning 5x-6x returns! In comparison, the ticket prices offered by these Instagram reseller accounts, also termed as scalpers, might look benign, even generous. But at the end of the day, scalpers are also looking to rake in profits, which they earn by selling these tickets in bulk i.e. lots of 5-10 tickets at once. After all, who is attending concerts alone? The slim margins on individual tickets are well cushioned by the extra bucks brought in by the higher quantities of tickets sold at once. Then, once this customer pays the remaining amount, the physical tickets will be dispatched to their registered address. Mind you, these physical tickets are important. Just e-tickets won't make the cut for both Coldplay and Diljit. You would not be able to enter the venue if you don't have this physical ticket or a wearable band. So, if the tickets are not delivered to your place before the concert, you’d be left stranded, even after paying all that money. Also, dont be surprised with a constant, relentless barrage of messages and calls, if you so much as just inquire about the tickets. Most scalpers, in a bid to quickly close on the opportunity, call incessantly, not giving buyers enough headspace to make rational, or for that matter, rationally priced decisions. But even after all the hassle, there is no guarantee of timely, or even delivery. State governments are also largely reluctant to establish regulations in these waters, since a resale would entail double entertainment tax, which only adds to their coffers. Says advocate Siddharth Chandrashekhar, Senior Panel Counsel at Bombay High Court, "Although some state police forces, like in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Punjab, have cracked down on illegal sales, arrests are rare, and the absence of cohesive legislation leaves enforcement inconsistent. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians (MI) took South African pacer Gerald Coetzee for Rs 5 crores. Coetzee had a base price of Rs 2 crore. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) placed the opening bid for the South African later MI came into the fight. Later, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) joined the bidding war after CSK moved back. The total number of credit and debit cards in circulation has reached 1 billion in Q2 2022 especially with festivities around the corner. “While the number of credit cards increased by 25% from ₹62.81 million in June 2021 to 78.7 million in June 2022, debit cards increased by 2% from ₹906 million to ₹921.75 million during the same period,” Worldline said. As of June 2022, the top credit-card issuing banks were HDFC Bank, SBI, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and RBL Bank while the top debit-card issuing banks were SBI, BOB, Union Bank, <keyword id="62034" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="punjab-national-bank" source="Orion">Punjab National Bank</keyword> and Canara Bank. Credit cards volume and value stood at 688.65 million and ₹3.28 trillion respectively. “Even though credit card volume at POS and e-commerce are nearly equal, the value of e-commerce transactions is higher as compared with the value of transactions at POS. This is in line with the general trend of transactions of high-ticket items moving from the physical to the digital space,” Worldline said. In terms of value, consumers transacted ₹1,226.29 billion at POS terminals and ₹2,053.66 billion at e-commerce through credit cards in the second quarter. In Q2 2022, debit card transactions volume and value stood at 973.12 million and ₹1.91 trillion respectively. Prepaid cards transaction volume and value was 412.29 million and ₹206.36 billion respectively. When it comes to mobile payments, the number of transactions through mobile wallets was 1.52 billion and the value was ₹574.64 billion. Transactions through wallets are growing steadily recording a 38% increase in volume and 27% in value when compared to Q2 2021, revealed Worldline data. National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) processed about 829 million transactions worth ₹129 billion. As of March 2022, about 52.9 million NETC FASTags have been issued since the inception of the NETC program. Aadhaar-Enabled Payment Service transactions recorded a substantial volume of over 679 million transactions, registering about 38% growth over Q2 2021. The rising demand for credit in last couple of days has prompted banks to garner funds aggressively through certificates of deposits (CD), bonds, and fixed deposits (FD). The need for aggressive fund raising arose after the surplus liquidity in the banking system dropped sharply from the record high. According to the data compiled by Prime database, banks have so far raised around Rs 42,000 crore through CDs. This was even after the rates on this instruments are rising sharply. Banks aggressively garnering funds via CDs, FDs amid firm credit off take

Pathankot, May 12 () The litchi growers in Punjab staring at huge losses as the farmers are yet to be approached by contractors for their orchards amid a prolonged countrywide lockdown.In the past, contractors - mostly from outside states, including Uttar Pradesh - used to visit Punjab to take litchi orchards on lease, besides reserving them by paying advances to farmers.Last year too, litchi growers had suffered huge losses in Punjab, as many videos surfaced on social media, linking the fruit to acute encephalitis syndrome (AES).At that time, farmers reeled under losses as the litchi's price fell very low.Arvind Kalra, owner of 85 acres of litchi orchard here, said that till today, only one person from Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur has approached him on phone."Such a situation was once seen at the time of operation blue star when ripened fruits were not plucked. Without traders and commission agents, how can we sell our fruits which are perishable items. Lockdown situation brought the harsh situation for farmers like us," he said.He has litchi orchards in Himachal Pradesh too but he will not be able to go there due to the lockdown.In Punjab, mainly two varieties of litchi - Dehradun and Calcutta - is grown by nearly 1,100 farmers in few districts, including Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur and Ropar, covering nearly 3,000 acres of lands.Around 48 trees are grown in one acres and each tree yields approximately 50 to 100 kg of litchi according to its age, experts said.Jatinder Singh, horticulture development officer, Pathankot, said that this year, there is a very high yield production but like last year, farmers are facing serious problem."The harvesting time of litchi is from June 10 to June 25 and in- between, things will be under control to some extent," he noted.Mostly Punjab's litchi is sold in main vegetables and fruit markets in Delhi and Mumbai, from where it is sent to other states and exported to countries, including UAE, he said."We will issue passes soon to outstation traders, middlemen and commission agents and labourers so that farmers don't face any suffering," Jatinder Singh said.With nearly 12,500 labourers registered to be moved for their native states from Pathankot alone where orchards of litchi have spread over 1,600 acres of land, shortage of workers is another problem for the farmers.Sukhdev Singh Randhawa of Batala said that he has 17 acres of litchi orchard in Pathankot's Madhopur."I am residing in Batala around 90 KM away from my orchards in Madhopur and irrigating litchi tree is very essential for bumper production, otherwise the yield gets damaged. Warden of my orchards mostly from Bihar have already registered to return back to their native village. In coming days, labour shortage will more be a problem, when harvesting time will be at its peak. VSD BAL
