The <keyword id="19949639" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rupee" source="keywords">rupee</keyword> was trading in a narrow range against the <keyword id="19949640" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="US-dollar" source="keywords">US dollar</keyword> in early trade on Thursday, tracking a weak trend in domestic equities and elevated crude oil prices. <keyword id="20024982" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Forex-traders" source="keywords">Forex traders</keyword> said the USD/INR pair is expected to remain range-bound as the dollar demand from foreign investors and oil companies has been matched by the supply from the <keyword id="19899810" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reserve-Bank-of-India" source="keywords">Reserve Bank of India</keyword> (RBI). At the interbank foreign exchange market, the local unit moved in a narrow range. It opened at 83.57 against the American currency and touched 83.55 in initial trade, registering a rise of 3 paise from its previous close. On Tuesday, the rupee closed at 83.58 against the American currency. Forex, equity markets were closed on Wednesday on account of Muharram. "Despite a weakening dollar and the rise of peer currencies like the Chinese yuan and Japanese yen to 7.26 and 155.36 respectively, the rupee has yet to find traction," CR Forex Advisors MD Amit Pabari said. Pabari further said: "It appears that the RBI is the key force behind the rupee's firm stance. Even amid a weakening dollar, robust fundamentals and significant flows, the rupee has shown no significant upward movement, as the RBI strategically absorbs inflows to bolster reserves." Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, was at 103.80, marginally higher by 0.05 per cent. Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, rose 0.41 per cent to USD 85.43 per barrel. On the domestic equity market, the 30-share BSE Sensex was trading 219.58 points, or 0.27 per cent lower at 80,496.97 points. The broader NSE Nifty was down 80.25 points, or 0.33 per cent, to 24,532.75 points. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net buyers in the capital markets on Tuesday as they purchased shares worth Rs 1,271.45 crore, according to exchange data. Meanwhile, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Wednesday maintained India's GDP growth forecast at 7 per cent for the current financial year, citing that a rebound in agriculture is expected given above-normal monsoon projections. Rupee trades in narrow range against US dollar in early trade

The rupee witnessed range-bound trading against the <keyword id="19949640" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="US-dollar" source="keywords">US dollar</keyword> in early trade on Wednesday and fell 3 paise amid a negative trend in domestic <keyword id="19925781" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="equities" source="keywords">equities</keyword>. <keyword id="20024982" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="forex-traders" source="keywords">Forex traders</keyword> said the strength of the American currency in the overseas market and elevated crude oil prices also weighed on the local unit and restricted the upmove. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the local unit opened at 83.45 and lost further ground to trade at 83.46 against the greenback in initial deals, registering a decrease of 3 paise from its previous closing level. On Tuesday, the rupee appreciated 4 paise and settled at 83.46 against the greenback. "The Indian rupee closed higher on Tuesday and opened flat with most Asian currencies range-bound to weaker. Rupee is expected to remain in a range of 83.35 to 83.55 with dips to be bought by importers," said Anil Kumar Bhansali, Head of Treasury and Executive Director Finrex Treasury Advisors LLP. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, was trading marginally higher by 0.05 per cent at 105.66. Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, were trading 0.42 per cent higher at USD 85.37 per barrel. In the domestic equity market, the 30-share BSE Sensex declined 81.42 points, or 0.10 per cent, to 77,972.10 points. The broader NSE Nifty fell 36.05 points, or 0.15 per cent, to 23,685.25 points. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net buyers in the capital markets on Tuesday, as they purchased shares worth Rs 1,175.91 crore, according to exchange data. Meanwhile, Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das on Tuesday asserted that the high interest rates are not impeding growth, and made it clear that the monetary policy will "unambiguously" focus on getting down inflation going forward. The country is at the threshold of a "major structural shift" in its growth trajectory and is moving towards a path where 8 per cent real GDP growth can be sustained on a yearly basis, Das said addressing an event by Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Bedekar &amp; Sons</keyword> group, passed away following a prolonged illness early on Friday, family sources said here. He was 56 and breathed his last around 12.30 a.m. at a private hospital after long fight with cancer. Bedekar's last rites shall be held around noon today at a crematorium in south Mumbai. All shops and outlets of the 123-year-old <keyword id="19369549" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bedekar-group" source="Orion">Bedekar group</keyword> remained close as a mark of respect for Bedekar, the fourth generation scion of the business enterprise selling its products worldwide. The Bedekar group and traditions of spices, pickles, papads, ready-mixes, etc. was started by the late V. P. Bedekar in a modest way as a grocery shop in Girguam in 1910. To remain relevant and competitive in the business, his teenaged son V. V. Bedekar launched a range of spices in 1917 and pickles in 1921, which caught the eyes and taste of the connoisseurs. This led to an expansion of the Bedekar shops at Thakurdwar, Parel, Dadar and Fort and the clientele expanded in leaps in bounds. To cope with the growing demands, he added five new manufacturing units and formed it as a private limited company in 1943, with current turnover exceeding over Rs 100 crore. The Bedekar brand and products are virtually household names in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and available on shelves in the US, Canada, Middle East, Australia, Europe and Far Eastern countries.

The price of the Delhi to Patna flight on October 22 was Rs 14,000 while the airfare from Mumbai to Patna reached Rs 20,000. The current fare from these two places to Patna is more than the rate from Delhi to Sharjah, which is Rs 11,000. Delhi to Bangkok's current ticket costs Rs 10,500, and Delhi to Singapore is priced at Rs 13,000. The air ticket from Kolkata to Patna was hiked to Rs 10,500. The airline companies during the peak season were taking advantage of the flexible fare. The experts believe that the spike may continue. The air tickets from other cities like Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Surat and others have also increased. One of the biggest reasons for the spikes in airfare is the unavailability of train tickets. The waiting lists for trains are very high and even <keyword id="56937" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tatkal" source="Orion">Tatkal</keyword> tickets are not available. Meanwhile, Northern Railway has decided to run 32 additional mail and express trains bound for Patna, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, <keyword id="2634001" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="jay-nagar" source="Orion">Jay Nagar</keyword>, Kishanganj, Katihar, and Barauni (Begusarai) to provide some relief to the passengers. The officials are claiming to run a total of 211 trains till Chatth Puja. The trains will start from Jammu, Amritsar, Ferozepur, Delhi, Bhiwani and Pathankot. Three-fold rise in airfares to Patna from Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata ahead of festivals

Mumbai, Jan 21 () Air India on Tuesday constituted a nine-member committee to look into staff-related issues in the wake of proposed disinvestment of the carrier, according to a notification.
 The panel has been set up a day after discussions between Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and representatives of various Air India unions.
 Puri had asked the airline to set up an internal mechanism committee comprising members from the management and its various trade unions to sort out privatisation-related issues of employees, a source had said on Monday.
 The committee would look into "HR (Human Resources) issues of the employees in the wake of the disinvestment of Air India Ltd," the notification said.
 Apart from three general managers of the airline, there are six representatives from various employee unions, as per the notification.
 The committee will regularly meet to crystallise issues within 10 days, it added.
 On January 7, a group of ministers headed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah approved the draft Expression of Interest (EoI) and Share Purchase Agreement (SPA) for disinvestment of Air India.
 In 2018-19, Air India's net loss was around Rs 8,556 crore.

According to her tweet, she was repeatedly asked to get up from her wheelchair and even after she told the security official that she could not.
