The government body is using its wit and humour on social media to break the tension in the air and resonate with today's youth. They have used the quirkiest ways possible to urge them to be sensible, alert and safe. From various pop culture references to turning board games into quirky posts, our Mumbai Police has used it all. It's latest campaign #MainBhiMumbaiPolice, in a stern voice, aims to tell Mumbaikars to become responsible and follow the task of self-policing. The initiative is a tribute to Mumbai Police’s efforts on-ground, who combat the deadly virus ensuring our safety and well-being. It urges citizens to consider themselves an extension of the force by taking on the highly responsible task of self-policing; thus ensuring that their family members stay inside their homes and keep everyone away from any risk of infection. The campaign has been further amplified by well-known celebrities like Anushka Sharma, Virat Kohli, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Neena Gupta, Rahul Bose and many more on their respective social media platforms. Meet the agency behind Mumbai Police’s latest campaign

Mumbai's police force was late to <keyword id="6354616" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Twitter">Twitter</keyword>, but it has made up for lost time since joining last month with a series of pun-filled <keyword id="6406419" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="tweets">tweets</keyword>. 
 The term "<keyword id="36730" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Mumbai-Police">Mumbai Police</keyword>" was trending on the social media site in India on Wednesday after the commissioner's official account posted its latest warning, to mark anti-drugs awareness week. 
 
"If you roll, we will weed you out," read the @CPMumbaiPolice tweet, which was quickly re-tweeted more than 1,000 times and won praise from Indian Twitter users 
 
"Mumbai police account is giving Twitter stand-up comedians a good run for their money," posted one user. 
 
Another tweeted: "Ok, Mumbai Police just killed it. The rest of you, go home." 
 
 
 
The Mumbai police commissioner's account has grown to have at least 22,000 followers since launching alongside the force's other official account, @MumbaiPolice, on December 27. The latter has more than 30,000 followers. 
 
Wednesday's tweet wasn't the first by police in the western Indian city to have caught Indian netizens' imagination with its use of humour to get across a serious message. 
 
"Your creepy comments on her photo will get you a long date with us," read a tweet from the commissioner warning against posting inappropriate or offensive comments online. 
 
"Giving out your personal details to strangers may land you in a 'web' of problems," was another post put out to promote their online security campaign. 
 
The force's traffic awareness week, also earlier this month, was marked with some puns as well, including a tweet which read: "Helmet or Hell-met. Choose Wisely." 
 Deputy commissioner Dhananjay Kulkarni told AFP that the twin accounts were being run by Indian content marketing and digital media agency <keyword id="3221909" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Trivone-Digital-services">Trivone Digital Services</keyword>. 
 
"The tweets are approved by police first," he said.

Mumbai Police's witty tweets are taking Twitter by storm!

<ul><li>The Mumbai police cyber cell has joined hands with Logically — a technology startup working out the inaccuracies and bias — to detect fake news. </li><li>It is monitoring the social media platforms — Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and WhatsApp — for 20 days now. </li><li>Any violations or problematic content will be reported to the <keyword id="65281" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Election-Commission-of-India">Election Commission of India</keyword>. </li><li>A team of 20 fact-checkers and verification experts has been formulated to detect, track and report fake news.</li></ul>Ahead of the <keyword id="13126" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maharashtra">Maharashtra</keyword> assembly elections on October 21, the Mumbai police cyber cell has joined hands with Logically — a technology startup working out the inaccuracies and bias — to detect fake news. It has been monitoring the social media platforms — Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and WhatsApp — for 20 days now to keep a check on any sort of violations to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). In case it finds any misuse of information or fake news, it will be reported to the Election Commission of India. During Lok Sabha elections in May, the startup detected 33,000 pieces of fake news. “Our previous experience with General Elections teaches us that this is just a start. The most popular type of content on these days was misinformation about polling booths being moved and dates being changed which could be a possible attempt at voter suppression,” said Lyric Jain, Founder and Promoter at Logically. Jain says that so far, misinformation regarding EVMs (Electronic Voting Machine) and doctored videos on EVMs being tampered with, are extremely popular. A team of 20 fact-checkers and verification experts has been formulated to detect, track and report problematic content. It is not political parties and candidates who are pushing misleading content, but third parties like followers and bots that put up misleading content. The most vulnerable of them all are the polling and result days. “While monitoring candidates can help we realized that more than the candidates themselves, most of the amplification of problematic content is conducted by their followers, bots and bad actors such as foreign governments. We are constantly keeping a watch on these unscrupulous agents who spread misinformation or disinformation,” Lyric added. The company that claims to have the largest dedicated fact-checking team in the world — also plans on improving the cyber analysis and approach towards it in rest of the states. Mumbai police is closely watching social media for fake news around elections

<ul><li><keyword id="6131977" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="The-Editors-Guild-of-India">The Editors Guild of India</keyword> has released a statement that urges <keyword id="4496357" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="republic-tv">Republic TV</keyword> to act responsibly and <keyword id="36730" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mumbai-Police">Mumbai Police</keyword> to not victimise journalists. </li><li>In a statement, the Editors Guild said, “It is high time that the channel behaves responsibly and not compromises the safety of its journalists as well as the collective credibility of media.”</li><li>It added that the Mumbai Police must ensure that investigation does not become a tool to suppress media rights.</li></ul>The Editors Guild of India has released a statement expressing its pain to see hundreds of FIRs filed against journalists of Republic TV, saying that the ‘victimization of journalists should stop.’ “The Editors Guild of India is pained to see the unedifying spectacle of hundreds of FIRs being filed against journalists of Republic TV, which is under probe for allegedly manipulating TRPs and spreading discontent against the Mumbai police,” read its statement. It further said, “It is high time that the channel behaves responsibly and not compromises the safety of its journalists as well as the collective credibility of media. The Editors Guild of India releases a statement urging Republic TV to act responsibly and Mumbai Police to not victimize journalists

Mumbai, Apr 16 () The Mumbai Police on Thursday used a bit of '90s nostalgia to drive home the point of social distancing amid the coronavirus lockdown. In a creative arrangement of titles of the popular Doordarshan shows, Mumbai Police shared two images with show titles arranged in a manner which read as an advice for people to follow on their official handle. "A simple message that's been just around the 'Nukkad' for decades. #NotJustNostalgia #TakingOnCorona" they captioned the pictures. "'Dekh Bhai Dekh', there's a 'Mahabharat' happening outside. 'Humlog' won't go to 'Nukkad'. We won't let 'Mungeri Lal Ke Haseen Sapne' turn into 'Flop Show,'" the first picture read. In another image, the Mumbai Police used titles of shows, including Shah Rukh Khan's "Circus" and "Fauji", writing, "'Shrimaan, Shrimati', please don't become 'Karamchand' or 'Byomkesh.' Coronavirus is being fought by 'Fauji', don't step out to do 'Circus.'" DCP Pranay Ashok, spokesperson of Mumbai Police, said it's their endeavour to reach out to people with different themes to give messages and using DD shows was one of the ways. "During the period of lockdown, there is a trend of nostalgic serials like 'Mahabharata', 'Ramayan' and other Doordarshan era serials. By using names of these serials we have appealed Mumbaikars not to come of of their homes and stay safe. "We always use current trends to spread our message to Mumbaikars, which are entertaining and also educating them," Ashok told . Mumbai police use old DD show titles to spread awareness about Coronavirus

The <keyword id="36730" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mumbai-Police">Mumbai Police</keyword> have filed a closure report in the #MeToo case by actress <keyword id="16193" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tanushree-Dutta">Tanushree Dutta</keyword> against Bollywood star <keyword id="6361516" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="nana-patekar">Nana Patekar</keyword> — that triggered a #MeToo movement in India making numerous women coming forward to report sexual harassment cases in the country. "Yes, we have filed a B-Summary Report before the court," Mumbai Police spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner of Police Manjunath Shinge told IANS. A B-Summary report is filed when the investigation can’t be continued due to lack of evidence to support the case. Tanushree Dutta, as per her lawyer Nitin Satpute, is going to challenge the move by Mumbai police. "If the police file any B or C classification of Summary Report, that cannot be final. We shall oppose it before the court. After hearing, if the court is satisfied, then it can again direct the police to re-investigate," Satpute said. Tanushree Dutta lodged an FIR against Nana Patekar in September 2018 alleging that he sexually harassed her during a film shoot in 2008.

New Delhi, May 5 () Startup IndField Services Pvt Ltd on Tuesday said it will provide one-time free disinfection services worth Rs 25 lakh to Mumbai Police, in the wake of COVID-19 threat. There are 250-odd police stations and offices in Mumbai. It would take 30 days to disinfect all of them, company's Chief Managing Officer Krishna Anand told . The disinfection process will begin from Wednesday. "It is a difficult time for all of us. Being a startup it was a difficult step knowing the financial crisis each company is facing during this turmoil, still our partners stood strong together and believed that it is the least we can do to express our gratitude," he said.
