There’s no method in this madness as <keyword id="136180" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="director-Sajid-Khan">director Sajid Khan</keyword> attempted to create a <keyword id="2368861" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Multi-starrer-entertainer">multi-starrer entertainer</keyword> <keyword id="6485088" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="wit">wit</keyword>hout sparkling wit, intelligence and a tight <keyword id="6371619" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="plot">plot</keyword> that would have produced some rollicking fun and an intriguing escapade. But <em>Humshakals</em> never rose above <keyword id="2368891" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tiresome-gags">tiresome gags</keyword> and <keyword id="2368890" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Banal-humour">banal humour</keyword> in spite of some <keyword id="2368892" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Good-acting">good acting</keyword>. Still, here’s the surprise of surprise, the movie has hit <keyword id="18712" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="80" keywordseo="Gold">gold</keyword> at the <keyword id="827271" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Domestic-Box-Office">domestic box office</keyword>, raking in Rs 40.13 crore nett in the first three days (trade figure Rs 34.91 crore). It is the 4th biggest opening weekend this year after <em><keyword id="6593120" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Jai-Ho">Jai Ho</keyword></em> (Rs 60.68 crore), <em><keyword id="6427325" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gunday">Gunday</keyword></em> (Rs 43.93 crore) and <em>Holiday</em> (Rs 41.32 crore).<br />

“<em>Humshakals</em> Fri 12.50 cr, Sat 12.59 cr, Sun 15.04 cr. Total: Rs 40.13 cr nett India biz,” tweeted Bollywood trade analyst and film critic, Taran Adarsh. Overseas total is approximately $2.02 million or Rs 12.16 crore from 40 countries, according to Adarsh. However, Monday collections at home saw a sheer drop of more than 60%, reaching a little over Rs 5 crore as per industry estimates. Total <keyword id="1996076" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Domestic-collections">domestic collections</keyword> after Day IV stood at Rs 45.23 crore nett, which means the movie is all set to hit the <keyword id="2368887" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rs-50-crore-mark">Rs 50 crore mark</keyword> at home by Day V. Although it is a <keyword id="87291" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="big-budget-movie">big budget movie</keyword> and cost a whopping Rs 75 crore including P&amp;A, <keyword id="106474" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Fox-Star-Studios">Fox Star Studios</keyword> and <keyword id="22777" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vashu-Bhagnani">Vashu Bhagnani</keyword>’s <em>Humshakals</em> has acted smart and already bagged Rs 45 crore by selling its satellite and music rights.<br />

<em>Humshakals</em> hit nearly 3,000 screens and it is the third <keyword id="2368881" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Widest-release">widest release</keyword> of 2014, behind <em>Jai Ho</em> and <em>Holiday</em>. Going by the <keyword id="2368884" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Opening-day-performance">opening day performance</keyword>, it ranks third this year – Rs 12.50 crore nett on Friday (June 20). Salman Khan-starrer <em>Jai Ho</em> tops the list with Rs 17.50 crore while Ranveer Singh-Arjun Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra-starrer <em>Gunday</em> amassed Rs 15.50 crore on <keyword id="2368879" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Debut-day">debut day</keyword>.<br />

<br /> Coming back to the critical part of the movie, we were literally at a loss to track the <keyword id="1097560" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="storyline">storyline</keyword>. Here are three male stars – <keyword id="333" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Saif-Ali-Khan">Saif Ali Khan</keyword> (<keyword id="2368848" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ashok-Singhania">Ashok Singhania</keyword>, the tycoon), his best friend <keyword id="1420" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Riteish-Deshmukh">Riteish Deshmukh</keyword> (<keyword id="6358442" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kumar">Kumar</keyword>) and <keyword id="17416" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ram-Kapoor">Ram Kapoor</keyword> (Ashok’s <keyword id="529153" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="80" keywordseo="Wicked">wicked</keyword> <keyword id="2368847" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Mamaji-Kunwar-Amarnath-Singh">Mamaji Kunwar Amarnath Singh</keyword> who is after his wealth) – but to complicate matters, you will find them all in triple roles. Also, true to Bollywood <em>ishtyle</em>, Ram Kapoor manages to pack off Ashok and Kumar to a <keyword id="495099" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="mental-asylum">mental asylum</keyword> where their <keyword id="2368862" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Doppelgangers">doppelgangers</keyword> are being treated.<br />
 <br /> What follows is pure mayhem, especially when a third set of Ashok and Kumar (this time created with the help of plastic surgery) comes on board to dupe the real duo. The baddie (Ram Kapoor) also gets his fair share of lookalikes and all three <keyword id="2368864" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Male-leads">male leads</keyword> caper around as females in various outfits and hair-dos. The climax at the <keyword id="118569" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="House-of-Commons">House of Commons</keyword> was as muddled and wobbly as the <keyword id="2368854" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Multi-layered-plot">multi-layered plot</keyword> and fails to tickle us. Sajid also got hold of three dazzling female leads – <keyword id="654350" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tamannaah-Bhatia">Tamannaah Bhatia</keyword> (<keyword id="2425" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shanaya">Shanaya</keyword> who is Ashok’s lady love), <keyword id="8112" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bipasha-Basu">Bipasha Basu</keyword> (<keyword id="792912" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="mishti">Mishti</keyword>, Kumar’s love interest) and <keyword id="7427" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Esha-Gupta">Esha Gupta</keyword> (Dr <keyword id="1385858" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shivani-Gupta">Shivani Gupta</keyword> who was taking care of Ashok and Kumar in the asylum) – but they had little to do in this movie.<br />
 <br /> Going by its <keyword id="25892" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="box-office">box office</keyword> performance, the audience must have given a thumbs-up to <em>Humshakals</em>. But even a commercially successful movie may have a great many pitfalls. As film critic Saibal Chatterjee so aptly says, “<em>Humshakals</em> is an execrable comedy of horrors that plumbs the depths of stupidity and crassness... Sorry, Mr Khan, no matter how much money your film ends up with at the box office, the joke is entirely on you!”<br />

Mumbai, The trailer of the upcoming streaming series '<keyword id="18566324" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="bambai-meri-jaan" source="Orion">Bambai Meri Jaan</keyword>' was unveiled on Monday in Mumbai's Bandra area. <br /><br />The crime thriller series stars <keyword id="29287" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="kay-kay-menon" source="Orion">Kay Kay Menon</keyword>, <keyword id="657031" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Avinash-Tiwary" source="Orion">Avinash Tiwary</keyword>, Kritika Kamra, and <keyword id="12319844" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nivedita-Bhattacharya" source="Orion">Nivedita Bhattacharya</keyword> along with Amyra Dastur in pivotal roles.<br /><br />The trailer begins with a birdeye view of the Mumbai of the 1970 as the plot unfolds taking the viewers through the life of <keyword id="18648736" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="dara-kadri" source="Orion">Dara Kadri</keyword> (essayed by Avinash), a petty criminal who is born to an honest officer in the Mumbai police force (portrayed by Kay Kay Menon). The trailer shows Dara rising up the ranks as he encounters the likes of Haji (inspired by don Haji Mastan, and portrayed by Saurabh Sachdeva) as he digs his claws deep into crime.<br /><br />The trailer boasts of many retro elements like the styling, the lighting, the BGM, the DI, photography, the angles and the production design which was actually once hit by a cyclone during the making of the series<br /><br />The trailer gives the viewers a glimpse of the pain a father undergoes as he sees his family being torn apart by lost ethos, greed, and corruption.<br /><br />It is also reminiscent of the Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi-starrer 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai' however the premise differs but the broad brush strokes on the canvas seem similar.<br /><br />Talking about his role in the upcoming series, Kay Kay Menon said: "My character Ismail Kadri is multi-layered and complex. He is an honest cop and a doting father who isn't perfect. On one hand, he is deeply committed to cleaning the city of Bambai of all crime, on the other, to save his family, he is forced to become a pawn to the city's crime syndicate.<br /><br />"Even as Ismail fights against all odds not to give in to the evil surrounding him, he sees his own flesh and blood rising as the city's new gang lord. Shujaat and Rensil's vision for this character was so clear and precise that it was easy for me to essay this role. Thank you, Prime Video and Excel Entertainment, Rensil and Shujaat, for making me a part of such a gut-wrenching story."<br /><br />The series is set in a world rather, the Mumbai of the 1970s where gang wars, crimes, and treachery were a common occurrence. Against this backdrop, the fictional series is a captivating saga of an honest cop who sees his son choose the path of crime to overcome a life of poverty and struggle.<br /><br />Avinash Tiwary said: "When I first read the script and about my character, Dara Kadri, I was awestruck and hesitant at the same time. The character I play in 'Bambai Meri Jaan' is something that very few actors get an opportunity to sink their teeth into, this early in their career.<br /><br />"The way I saw it, there are villains and then there is Dara, a dynamic young man who believes that honest hard work won't get you money and power. From nothing (hunger) to something (provider for the family and his people) to everything (power), bhook is an integral part of his journey.<br /><br />"To become someone everyone bows down to, one who is feared and revered in equal measures, he has to turn into a cold-blooded monster. As a director, Shujaat's creativity, attention to detail, and his ability to inspire and motivate each one of us to give our best, really enabled me to bring Dara's character to life the way he and Rensil had envisioned while writing the script. I am looking forward to reactions from viewers from India and around the world."<br /><br />The story of the show has been penned by crime journalist and author S. Web series Bambai Meri Jaan promises to teleport viewers back to Mumbai of 1970s

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"><p class="source"><span>CBS</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>I won't surprise anyone who's been paying attention with the claim that science fiction isn't just about spaceships and laser beams. At the height of Captain Kirk's era, the best questions for science fiction may have seemed centuries distant. But while that's less true today, the genre has only become more relevant and ubiquitous. It's a focusing tool, a way of channeling our hopes and anxieties about the future into coherent, digestible narratives. And no show on TV does that better than CBS's legal drama "The Good Wife."</p><p>Of course, on its face, "The Good Wife" doesn't seem like a science fiction show at all.</p><p>Slow-paced, understated, and centered on the career and marriage of middle-aged lawyer Alicia Florrick, the drama doesn't exactly target the "<a href="http://www.techinsider.io/will-we-watch-star-wars-in-the-future-2016-2">Dark Matter</a>" and "<a href="http://www.techinsider.io/sci-fi-show-reveals-major-space-problem-2016-1">Expanse</a>" demo. I actually picked it up out of sheer curiosity after  Hillary Clinton's remark to Stephen Colbert that she and Bill <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_by4NUtNARY">binge-watch it together</a>; Alicia's relationship with her politician husband <a href="http://www.gq.com/story/hillary-bill-clinton-good-wife">threads closely and unsubtley</a> to the darker moments of the Clintons' own marriage.</p><p>Regardless of the Clinton couple's fandom, "The Good Wife" is the one of the best science fiction shows ever on television, arguably one of the better works of speculative sci-fi ever to hit big with the general public.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"><p class="source"><span>CBS</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>The show lives in something close to present time in our universe, with a thin slick of dark, surrealist futurism floating on top. Apple, Netflix, Tesla, Google, and Facebook all exist in this world, but their various mistakes and malices show up in heightened form through the device of an imaginary, multi-armed tech conglomerate called "Chumhum."</p><p>Episodes center on ripped-from-the-tech-headlines plots like <a href="http://gizmodo.com/3d-printed-guns-are-only-getting-better-and-scarier-1677747439">3D-printed guns</a>, <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2015/jul/01/google-sorry-racist-auto-tag-photo-app">racist artificial intelligences</a>, and self-driving cars. But the writers often find layers of nuance beyond simple rehashing. They use the courtroom's structure to examine questions raised by the pace of technological development for a mass audience, taking each real-world event and imagining its next logical step. What are the consequences when learning algorithms learn racism? When an artificial intelligence kills or harms, who's to blame? How much responsibility do we bear for the 3D-printer designs we send out into the ether?</p><p>"The Good Wife," like "The Twilight Zone" and "Black Mirror," addresses these dilemmas without getting weighed down by self-seriousness. Unsettling as the show can get, its mood is absurd, with the tech-centric plot-lines leaning downright zany.</p><p>One of the better plot-arches involves a secret NSA wiretap.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"><p class="source"><span>CBS</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>"Silicon Valley"'s Zach Woods plays an analyst who, from a frat house-like secret NSA office, gleefully peels apart the main characters' lives and exchanges screaming goat GIFs with his colleagues. The eventual courtroom confrontation between Alicia and the NSA's wall of secrecy (in front of a judge played by "Arrested Development"/"Transparent" actor Jeffrey Tambor) is a work of goofy beauty.</p><p>Now in its seventh season, this show deserves a place on the shelf (or Netflix queue) with "Star Trek" and its more similar contemporary "Mr. Robot." Through all the real-world concerns it addresses, there isn't a better or smarter fictional catalogue of this decades technological hopes and anxieties. 'The Good Wife' is secretly one of the best science fiction shows on television

<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><span>Jihadist technology may now be so sophisticated and secretive, experts say, that many communications avoid detection by National Security Agency programs that were specifically designed to uncover terror plots.</span></p>
<p><span>And why is that?</span></p>

<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><span>[Because] <span> Al-Qaida leaders ... [use] ... a multi-layered subterfuge to pass messages from couriers to tech-savvy underlings to attackers.</span></span></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><span><span><span>... over the past decade [jihadists] have developed systems that blend <keyword id="207797" type="TECHNOLOGY" weightage="60" keywordseo="encryption">encryption</keyword> programs with anonymity software to hide their tracks ...</span></span></span></p>
<p>This is not unlike what Snowden did when he first communicated with <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/nyt-article-on-laura-poitras-and-snowden-2013-8">documentary filmmaker Laura Poitras</a>.</p>

<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><span><span>[Poitras] sent [Snowden] her public key — allowing him or her to send an encrypted e-mail that only Poitras could open, with her private key ...</span></span></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><span><span><span>[Snowden sent] instructions for creating an even more secure system to protect their exchanges. Promising sensitive information, the stranger told Poitras <strong>to select long pass phrases</strong> that could withstand a brute-force attack by networked computers. “Assume that your adversary is capable of a trillion guesses per second,” the stranger wrote.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span><span>What Snowden and Poitras likely did was use a highly encrypted email service (<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/meet-lavabit-edward-snowdens-email-2013-7">like Lavabit</a>) to exchange "the key."</span></span></p>
<p><span>That was their most vulnerable time. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/lavabit-shuts-down-fbi-2013-8">Since Lavabit just closed up shop</a> presumably under Federal pressure, we can safely assume that key wasn't snooped.</span></p>
<p><span><span>Then Snowden and Poitras set up another line of communication (possibly using another service) using that highly complex (40 characters) key or password to communicate.</span></span></p>
<p><span><span>Essentially uncrackable.</span></span></p>
<p><span>Now it's not even in the slightest bit of irony that we hear how potential terrorists use multi-layered encryption processes much as Snowden did — with the addition of one element, on-foot couriers carrying thumb drives to tech centers.</span></p>
<p><span>The AP reports that "s</span><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">o frustrated was the CIA at one point, the spy agency considered killing the couriers passing messages in an attempt to disrupt the terrorist group’s plans, said a former senior U.S. official."</span></p>
<p><span><span>One thing still works though: old-school human intel.</span></span></p>

<p><span><span><span>Needless to say, the Feds maintain that they caught wind of something, which is what led to the Embassy closings in Yemen (and elsewhere):</span></span></span></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><span><span><span>Intelligence officials have suggested that the plot was detected, in part at least, through NSA <keyword id="6354565" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="surveillance">surveillance</keyword> programs that have been under harsh worldwide criticism for privacy intrusions in the name of national security.</span></span></span></p>

At the time of writing, more than 57,000 residents have become infected, and another 2,530 have died after becoming sick, <a href="https://www.miamiherald.com/news/coronavirus/article243193561.html">according to the Miami Herald</a>.</p><p>As a result, <a href="https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2020/04/01/825383186/florida-governor-orders-statewide-lockdown">Governor Ron DeSantis ordered a statewide lockdown</a> at the beginning of April, causing businesses and organizations to completely change their daily operations. Big Cat Rescue, for example, has temporarily halted guided tours of its premises. </p><p>"It's been surreal here at the sanctuary without guests," Baskin told Insider. "Even though most days we only had a 3 p.m. tour, and on weekends we'd have a few tours of about 20 people each, I never realized how empty it would seem here without them."</p><p>By halting these guided tours, Baskin said Big Cat Rescue has lost approximately one-third of its revenue.</p><p>"Losing that meant we had to let go 10 of our 20 staff, and my husband and I are not taking paychecks," she said.</p><p>"We are trying out new ways of bringing virtual tours to our supporters," she continued. "We have always done Facebook Live broadcasts each day, but now we are trying to bring more consistent content like Feeding Tours LIVE, Keeper Tours LIVE, Singing Sundays, Cats for Kids on Saturdays, etc." </p><p>On Friday, <a href="https://www.tampabay.com/news/health/2020/06/04/got-questions-about-floridas-phase-2-reopening-weve-got-answers/">most Florida counties began the second phase</a> of the state's multi-wave reopening plan. Gyms, restaurants, and even amusement parks like Universal Orlando were allowed to take part, though with new rules, regulations, and limited capacities. But it's unlikely that Big Cat Rescue will join the list anytime soon.</p><p>"If we were going to open to the public, we would require masks, temperature scans, and some sort of accounting for where they were before coming here," Baskin told Insider. "Even then, I don't know that I would feel safe exposing our volunteers or cats to this invisible killer."</p><p>She also said <a href="https://www.insider.com/carole-baskin-says-big-cat-rescue-might-not-open-again-2020-6">she's worried that a supporter of Exotic might try to harm the animals</a> of Big Cat Rescue, saying: "Even if COVID-19 is under control by the end of next year — and I think it will be at least that long — I don't know if I would ever take the risk of allowing one deranged person from the #FreeJoeExotic clan to gain access."</p><h2>Baskin says her team have also had to implement protocols that maintain the safety of <keyword id="6371668" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="animals">animals</keyword> at Big Cat Rescue</h2><p>Since the pandemic made its way to the US, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tigers-lions-cats-test-positive-for-coronavirus-new-york-2020-4">cats both big and small have tested positive for coronavirus.</a> Though Baskin maintains that her sanctuary has always utilized safe practices, Big Cat Rescue has started to require all staff members and volunteers to wear masks around the animals.</p><p>"We have always been fanatical about cleanliness and prevention of transmission of disease by wearing gloves while preparing food and cleaning," Baskin said. "We have added wearing face masks when preparing the cat's food and when we are in close proximity to them."</p><h2>The sanctuary has not had to limit the number of workers on its grounds, meaning volunteers can still care for the cats in the ways they usually do</h2><p>"Our number of volunteers has stayed steady," Baskin said. "Even though we typically have 80 to 110 volunteers, each one is only required to put in between four to 16 hours per week, so we have never had an issue of too many people at a time." </p><p>In an Insider piece about <a href="https://www.insider.com/tiger-king-truth-carole-baskin-big-cat-rescue-2020-4">how "Tiger King" depicted Big Cat Rescue</a>, Maddie Stone described Baskin's use of volunteers as "controversial, even among those in the animal-care community." Carnivore ecologist <a href="https://twitter.com/sciencewithtyus">Tyus Williams</a>, for example, told Stone that free volunteer work can discourage those without financial freedom to help, and <a href="https://twitter.com/zookeeperjake">Jake Belair</a>, an animal keeper at the Nashville Zoo, said animals "deserve expert care, not free care." </p><p>Speaking to Insider, Baskin said those within the animal industry who criticize Big Cat Rescue's volunteers do so because "people want to get paid to work with wild animals" and it "threatens their dream jobs." She added that "people equate free labor with unskilled labor," which she feels could not "be further from the truth."</p><p>To make sure that volunteers have adequate knowledge and experience, Big Cat Rescue requires they take 50 online courses through ZooCollege.com, pass them with good grades, and later work with expert keepers for 12 days of training. Baskin said Big Cat Rescue's "time requirement" is yet another "layer of accountability" at play.</p><p>"People must put in between four and 32 hours per week, depending on their level of proficiency and training, or they cannot remain in the program," Baskin said. "We use a shirt color system so we can tell at a distance the level of training a volunteer has, so we know if they are allowed to be near certain cats. Interns put in more hours, but we provide them with housing and a food stipend, whereas many other facilities charge thousands of dollars for people to come play around at animal care for a week or two. Most of those places offer hands-on play time and are really just exploitive money-making schemes operating under the guise of conservation."</p><p>"No one who has actually trained here as a volunteer or intern would ever say they weren't thoroughly trained and managed," she added. "At many zoos, a person can be hired to care for big cats and within a week, with no formal training in caring for big cats, have the keys to the cages. <a href="https://www.theledger.com/article/LK/20060824/news/608147669/LL">Enshala the tiger</a> who was accidentally set free and then shot to death at the Lowry Park Zoo was just one sad example. At Big Cat Rescue a person works with the smaller cats, like 25-pound bobcats to 40-pound lynx, for two years before they can ever even be within three feet of the outside of a big cat's cage, and they never get the keys. "</p><p>Some critics of Big Cat Rescue have also argued that enclosures at Big Cat Rescue are too small, based on scenes from "Tiger King." In her report, Stone argued that shots of the sanctuary are misleading, and make the enclosures "look appallingly small in the few glimpses we get."</p><p><a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/valerie-taylor-8b44b846/">Valerie Taylor</a>, the executive director of the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries — which conducted an audit of Big Cat Rescue in 2019 — told Stone "these enclosures are for small cats, such as bobcats and servals." In reality, according to Stone, <a href="https://bigcatrescue.org/refuting-netflix-tiger-king/">most of the sanctuary's habitats are larger than 1,200 square feet</a>, and <a href="https://bigcatrescue.org/cams/">live webcams</a> show that the cats have access to "shaded areas with trees, open-air play yards, and a lake."</p><p>Representatives for Netflix, and "Tiger King" directors Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin, did not respond to Insider's previous requests for comment when asked about its depiction of Big Cat Rescue.</p><p>"Our cats are spread out over many acres, so there is plenty of room to social distance," Baskin said. "In buildings, such as Food Prep, the onsite Windsong Hospital, and the Gift Shop, they wear masks and stay six feet apart."</p><p>Controversy aside, Baskin told Insider that there's still one major difference between Big Cat Rescue and zoos like the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park: their philosophy.</p><p>"Our belief is that no wild cat should be born for life in a cage," she said. "We believe that people will never save habitat as long as they can get their 'big cat fix' at a zoo. If the only place to see wild cats is in the wild, then people will do the hard work of protecting habitat which ends up saving us all."</p><h2>Baskin has also found ways to advocate for big cats while staying inside and social distancing</h2><p>One of the main ways she's done so is through the sale of <a href="https://www.insider.com/where-to-buy-tiger-king-masks-carole-baskin-2020-5">animal-print masks</a> that she created in collaboration with water-polo brand Tread365. Carole Baskin says she had to let go of half of Big Cat Rescue's paid staff while she and her husband aren't taking paychecks

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>ReGen Villages</span></p></div><p></p></div></div>If you move into a new neighborhood being constructed outside of Amsterdam, your salad greens might come from the greenhouse attached to your home. Your eggs could be gathered from the village chicken coop, and your food waste would all get harvested for compost.</p><p><a href="http://www.regenvillages.com/" target="_blank">ReGen Villages</a> is a startup real estate development company aiming to build small, self-sustaining residential communities around the world. The first one is expected to be completed in Almere, Netherlands in 2018. Unlike traditional subdivisions, ReGen villages would be "regenerative" (hence the name), since they'd use resources in a closed loop.</p><p>"Regenerative means systems where the output of one system can actually be the input of another," ReGen's founder, James Ehrlich tells Business Insider.</p><p>In ReGen villages, household food waste is composted and fed to flies, which in turn feeds fish, which then fertilizes aquaponic gardens (multi-layered systems that combine fish farming and hydroponic agriculture, with plant roots submerged in nutrient-rich solution rather than soil). Those aquaponic farms grow produce for residents to eat, as do seasonal gardens, which are be fertilized by waste from livestock raised to feed residents. Rainwater is harvested and filtered for use in the farms and gardens, and on-site solar panels power the homes.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>ReGen Villages</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>Though this kind of regenerative, self-sufficient neighborhood might sound like a pipe dream, ReGen has already determined its first two sites. Ehrlich says he expects to sign a memo of understanding for a plot of land in Lund, Sweden in the coming weeks - the agreement will outline the intent to purchase the land and set forth initial terms. And ReGen's first site in the Netherlands is currently undergoing archaeological testing to make sure the village won't be built on top of any historic ruins.</p><p>Ehrlich expects to break ground there in the first quarter of 2017, begin construction by the end of the summer, and have the first 25 homes built by the end of the year.</p><p>Each completed village will house 100 families on about 50 acres. Each family's house will have an attached greenhouse for growing personal crops, and the village's communal farms and livestock will be managed and run by ReGen staff. Individuals can pitch in their labor as a way to lower the monthly fees homeowners pay on top of their mortgages. (In the Almere community, Ehrlich expects that cost to be around $560.)</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>ReGen Villages</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>"It's this concept that the way you look at a subdivision is edible, so you walk through the path and there's berries and fruit trees and nuts and spices and all kinds of things to enjoy," Ehrlich says. "We don't do lawns, we don't do golf courses or tennis courts. That's a good place to grow food, so we're going to grow food there."</p><p>Ehrlich refers to ReGen as the "Tesla of eco-villages," because he says the neighborhoods will allow eco-conscious people to elegantly go off the grid on their own terms. The villages will also use sensors and technology to monitor energy use, farming efficiency, and living patterns, and send that data to the cloud so villages in similar geographic regions can learn from each other. The strategy is similar to the way Tesla uses machine learning to analyze data gathered from the autopilot systems in its cars.</p><p>ReGen, which was founded in 2015, has partnered with Copenhagen-based architecture firm Effekt to design all the villages. Ehrlich says he hopes to build many more than the two that are already in progress - he's in discussions about buying sites in Denmark, Norway, Germany and Belgium.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>ReGen Villages</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>Ehrlich says the ReGen villages are designed to give people an environmentally friendly alternative to urban life. He also hopes they can help make agriculture more sustainable and less wasteful.</p><p>He envisions these communities as disaster-resistant as well, since they could likely continue running if the current grid were compromised. He mentions Superstorm Sandy as an example.</p><p>"My family was without power for three weeks, and it got real after about three days," he says. "You run out of food, and your credit card doesn't work, and even if you have cash, you go to the supermarket and the shelves are bare. It doesn't take long for civilization to collapse, for there to be chaos."</p><p>Not every village could produce enough food or harvest enough water to satisfy all of its residents, of course. Ehrlich says the percentage of the nutritional needs the village could fulfill will depend on the climate in a given place (a farm in Hawaii could produce more year-round food than one in Sweden), as well as what the residents have come to expect to eat (imported delicacies, processed food, etc).</p><p>But Ehrlich's initial estimates are optimistic - he says a village could produce enough fresh food to take care of 50-100% of the needs of its residents.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>ReGen Villages</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>And if there's any excess food or energy gathered, he says, that could also be sold, and the profits could offset residents' fees.</p><p>Ehrlich's next step is to firm up the designs for the different houses that prospective buyers will be able to purchase in the Netherlands.  The 'Tesla of eco-villages' is developing off-grid villages that grow their own food and generate their own power 

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>On Tuesday, the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/us-government-laptop-ban-middle-east-airline-airport-tsa-dhs-2017-3" target="_blank">US Department of Homeland Security announced the introduction of an electronic device ban</a> for select flights coming from 10 airports in the Middle East and Africa.</p><p>However, many of the eight affected airlines seemed to have been blindsided by the news.</p><p>With only four days to comply, it's still uncertain how many of the carriers will be able to work out the logistics of the ban.</p><p>In addition, the thought process behind the decision and the intelligence on which the ban has been based remains unclear.</p><h2><strong>Terrorist threat</strong></h2><p>According to senior administration officials, the decision to implement these security measures is a result of intelligence showing a risk for terrorist activity involving commercial aviation.</p><p>"Evaluated intelligence indicates that terrorist groups continue to target commercial aviation and are aggressively pursuing innovative methods to undertake their attacks, to include smuggling explosive devices in various consumer items," an official said on Monday.</p><p>Whatever this intelligence consists of, it was substantial enough for the national security apparatus to act.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>According to James Norton, a former deputy assistant secretary of the DHS during the George W. Bush administration, security actions such as this will take place if there is evidence of a credible threat. An example of this happened in 2006 when the Bush administration issued an immediate ban on liquids after law enforcement in the UK foiled a terrorist plot to blow up airliners traveling across the Atlantic using liquid explosives, Norton told Business Insider.</p><p>However, what is confusing is that the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/uk-passengers-banned-from-carrying-some-electronic-devices-2017-3?r=UK&amp;IR=T" target="_blank">UK issued a similar ban on Tuesday</a>, but excluded four airports - Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, and Casablanca - featured in the US ban.</p><p>In addition, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/experts-trump-airline-electronics-ban-2017-3" target="_blank">many in the aviation community</a> question whether a ban of this type is even remotely effective in countering a terrorist attack.</p><p>It should be noted that Doha, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi are major international transit hubs with extensive multi-layered security procedures. In addition, US-bound flights are even screened in dedicated facilities using well-trained security professionals - often with law-enforcement and military experience.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>In fact, Abu Dhabi International Airport is equipped with a US Customs and Border Protection pre-clearance facility where passengers and bags headed for the US are screened by US customs officials.</p><h2><strong>Lithium-ion batteries</strong></h2><p>First, the electronics ban is not an outright ban. Instead, it forbids electronics such as laptops, cameras and tablets from being brought into the cabin of the aircraft. This means they will most likely have to be stored inside the cargo hold of the aircraft with the checked luggage.</p><p>However, such behavior is explicitly prohibited by the Federal Aviation Administration.</p><p>"FAA battery fire testing has highlighted the potential risk of a catastrophic aircraft loss due to damage resulting from a lithium battery fire or explosion. Current cargo fire suppression systems cannot effectively control a lithium battery fire," the agency wrote in an alert in February.</p><p>When asked, administration officials told journalists on Monday that they are working with the FAA to maintain a safe flying environment, but did not state specifics. Business Insider asked DHS for specifics on Tuesday, but have not yet heard back from officials.</p><p>This is particularly concerning for Michael Mo, co-founder and CEO of Kulr Technologies, a company that specializes thermal management systems for batteries.</p><p>"Lithium-ion batteries are inherently volatile with an average of one out of five million units expected to blow. It's statistics. It's not a matter of if, but a matter of when one of these things blow," Mo told Business Insider in an interview.</p><p>"So when that happens, it's better to have humans nearby to react and put out the fire."</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>In addition, spare lithium-ion batteries stored in the cargo hold are particularly dangerous because not only are they more susceptible to damage, they also tend to be packed into suitcases with incredibly flammable items like hairspray or deodorant.</p><h2><strong>Protectionist <keyword id="6358883" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Politics">politics</keyword>?</strong></h2><p>Of the 10 airlines affected by the US ban, three - Emirates, Etihad, and Qatar Airways - have been at the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/united-airlines-emirates-newark-athens-2017-3" target="_blank">heart of a heated rivalry with US carriers American, Delta, and United Airlines</a>. For some, the inclusion of these airlines seem way too convenient to be a coincidence.</p><p>"If you squint hard enough, there is some justification on a security basis for this, but the implementation has been haphazard and in manner that is particularly targeted at and does harm to the commercial interests of a set of airlines that has been the source of much competitive hand-wringing from US airlines," Airways senior business analyst Vinay Bhaskara told Business Insider.</p><p>When asked about the topic on Monday, a senior administration official denied any relationship between the electronics ban and the feud between the aforementioned American and Middle Eastern airlines.</p><p>However, the UK's decision to exclude the Middle East's big three from its ban proves to be particularly troubling. After all, it is believed that the UK government acted on the same intelligence as US officials.</p><h2><strong>Business impact</strong></h2><p>The immediate effect of the ban will likely weaken the Persian Gulf's three mega-carriers along with Turkish Airlines, Bhaskara said. Based on the latest rankings from <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/20-best-airlines-in-the-world-2016-skytrax-2016-7/" target="_blank">respected consumer aviation website Skytrax</a>, Emirates, Qatar, Etihad and Turkish Airlines represent the first, second, sixth, and seventh ranked carriers in the world.</p><p>Since the US government's ban calls into question the security of their home airports, these airlines will have to contend with the resulting negative publicity and uncertainty among customers.</p><p>A <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=as6ZEuo0IrE" target="_blank">new Emirates ad</a> argues that one doesn't need a laptop to have a good time on board its flights.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>In addition, many corporate customers do allow their employees to ship work computers in their checked luggage. This is due to concerns over theft of equipment and any sensitive information stored on the computers.</p><p>As a result, they may push some clients toward carriers that are not affected by the ban.</p><p>Currently, no US carriers offer nonstop flights into the Middle East. As a result, they won't benefit directly. However, the ban will likely drive lucrative business travelers back towards European hubs such as Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, and Paris. This means US airlines will benefit through joint ventures and alliance relationships with Lufthansa, British Airways, Air France, and KLM.</p><p>That said, not all US carriers will benefit. Airlines like JetBlue and Alaska have partnership agreements with Emirates. A reduction in business for Emirates cuts into the number of passengers who depend on JetBlue's and Alaska's planes to connect them to secondary and tertiary cities in the US.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>According to Bhaskara, the long-term effects of the ban are unknown. The strategic decisions the affected airlines and their competitors make will be determined by how long with ban is in place.</p><p>At the end of the day, it's still too early to tell what's going to happen. In contrast, <em><keyword id="1434830" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Yaariyan">Yaariyan</keyword></em>, literally a newcomers' movie and made by the <keyword id="202523" type="POSITION" weightage="100" keywordseo="debutante-director">debutante director</keyword> <keyword id="803235" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Divya-Khosla-Kumar">Divya Khosla Kumar</keyword>, has raced past the critically acclaimed <em>Dedh Ishqiya</em>. Released on January 10, the bubbly tale of adventure and <keyword id="125717" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="college-romance">college romance</keyword> has a <keyword id="2014756" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="First-weekend-collection">first weekend collection</keyword> of around Rs 16.50 crore nett while its four-day total has climbed to Rs 19 crore nett. <keyword id="2014759" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gross-collections">Gross collections</keyword> stand at Rs 22.20 crore at the <keyword id="827271" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Domestic-Box-Office">domestic box office</keyword> after Day 4 (January 13).<br />

But more on that later. First, let’s have a close look at <em>Dedh Ishqiya</em> and what all it offers. The sequel of the earlier movie has seen one major change in cast, though. It’s the comeback film of <keyword id="6358652" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Madhuri-Dixit-Nene">Madhuri Dixit-Nene</keyword>, but she can’t match the spunky ruthlessness of <em>Ishqiya</em>’s <keyword id="3844" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Vidya-Balan">Vidya Balan</keyword>. Just like the real Madhuri, <keyword id="241381" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Begum-Para">Begum Para</keyword> is sheer magic throughout the flick because of her ethereal grace. But her on-screen manipulations pale before the earthy Vidya who managed to mesmerise all in her earlier outing. And when those sparks are missing, can the <keyword id="25892" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="box-office">box office</keyword> catch fire?<br />

Obviously not, going by the numbers. <em>Dedh Ishqiya</em> has also opened on January 10 and grossed around Rs 14.25 crore at the domestic box office after Day 4 (January 13), according to industry estimates. The <keyword id="382940" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="opening-weekend">opening weekend</keyword> saw collections of around Rs 11.50 crore nett although the <keyword id="1988011" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Screen-count">screen count</keyword> stood at 1,000-1,200 at home. But then, the <keyword id="2014761" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Occupancy-rate">occupancy rate</keyword> was abysmally low, just 20%, and it faltered even in the state of <keyword id="6357713" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Uttar-Pradesh">Uttar Pradesh</keyword> where a strong support was predicted. Collections in the <keyword id="1235960" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Mumbai-circuit">Mumbai circuit</keyword> were low as well.<br />
<br /> But in spite of a <keyword id="182563" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="BO">BO</keyword> slowdown, the flick has earned some glowing accolades from noted critics. According to Anupama Chopra of the <em>Hindustan Times</em>, “<em>Dedh</em><em> Ishqiya</em> is worth watching just for Abhishek Chaubey’s ambition. He is not constrained by the demands of the box office.”<br />
<br /> Termed as genuinely smart and spicy, with many layers of truths and realities, the movie takes you through a semi-realistic <keyword id="2014763" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Poetic-journey">poetic journey</keyword> and a <keyword id="2014764" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Decadent-world">decadent world</keyword> that you don’t encounter every day. The story of <keyword id="2014765" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Love-and-deceit">love and deceit</keyword> intertwines and flows smoothly as <keyword id="2014746" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Khalujaan">Khalujaan</keyword> (Naseeruddin) and his nephew <keyword id="964492" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Babban">Babban</keyword> (Arshad), a thief duo posing as a nawab and his attendant, set their eyes on Begum Para and her assistant <keyword id="2014767" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Muniya">Muniya</keyword> (Huma), respectively. The rest becomes a classic journey of revelation and a rare insight into human nature.<br />

“<em>Dedh</em><em> Ishqiya</em> is an absolute delight because all its parts fit beautifully. The <keyword id="42054" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Cinematography">cinematography</keyword>, <keyword id="6363322" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="sets">sets</keyword> and <keyword id="571210" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Costumes">costumes</keyword> are exquisite. The editing is sharp. Most importantly, <keyword id="2014744" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Darab-Farooqui">Darab Farooqui</keyword>’s story is plotted wonderfully by <keyword id="33638" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vishal-Bharadwaj">Vishal Bharadwaj</keyword> and Chaubey’s screenplay,” writes <keyword id="122490" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="film-critic">film critic</keyword> Deepanjana Pal.<br />

But at this point, we are not sure whether the average Bollywood fans will give this movie a wide berth or not because of its subtle artistry and multi-layered messages.<br />

<em>Yaariyan</em>, the other release, features an overused youth-centric theme. But it tries to pose as vibrantly young and refreshingly different in approach. Starring <keyword id="975571" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Himansh-Kohli">Himansh Kohli</keyword> (<keyword id="3898" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Lakshya">Lakshya</keyword>), <keyword id="1923885" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="dev-sharma">Dev Sharma</keyword> (<keyword id="11610" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Neil">Neil</keyword>), <keyword id="1972144" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="serah-singh">Serah Singh</keyword> (<keyword id="25517" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="jenny">Jenny</keyword>), <keyword id="621559" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rakul-Preet-Singh">Rakul Preet Singh</keyword> (<keyword id="29620" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Saloni">Saloni</keyword>) and <keyword id="86267" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Nicole-Faria">Nicole Faria</keyword> (<keyword id="1282028" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Jia">Jia</keyword>), this one unfolds the story of close-knit <keyword id="2014775" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="College-mates">college mates</keyword> on a journey of discovery. But before they can come to terms with different <keyword id="6358061" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="relationships">relationships</keyword> and discover values that will keep them going, you will get tired of the regular dose of Bollywood <em>masala</em> punched into the mixture.<br />
<br /> Thematically, it has an uncanny resemblance to <keyword id="3778" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Karan-Johar">Karan Johar</keyword>’s <em>Student Of The Year</em>. However, the movie is a potpourri of several other things as well – from national sentiments to international violence and tolerance, from dressing scantily to thinking less like a modern individual and a general avoidance of <keyword id="2014777" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tangible-adult-themes">tangible adult themes</keyword>. But we are eager to accept those as the infallible Indian core values and tend to ignore the under-dressing as part of the modern gear.<br />
<br /> Although the <keyword id="1308674" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="production-budget">production budget</keyword> of this flick is not too high, some Rs 19 crore according to koimoi.com, the movie has been shot across states and continents – in <keyword id="6358070" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Mumbai">Mumbai</keyword>, <keyword id="6355478" type="COUNTRY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Australia">Australia</keyword>, <keyword id="48118" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sikkim">Sikkim</keyword> and <keyword id="6358045" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Darjeeling">Darjeeling</keyword>. And the <keyword id="6354530" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="music">music</keyword> of this movie is simply awesome, which is another reason behind its instant success.<br />

At the end of the day, it will be unfair to compare <em>Dedh Ishqiya</em> and <em>Yaariyan</em>. They belong to <keyword id="2014794" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Different-genres">different genres</keyword> and will attract different kinds of audience, to say the least. But it will be interesting to wait and see who wins the <keyword id="2014796" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Money-game">money game</keyword> at the box office. Films, even good films, are made to churn money and losing at that level does not speak well for a movie.<br />
