New Delhi, Mar 8 () Mumbai-based film production company Mukta Arts, which runs multiplex chain under the brand name 'Mukta A2 Cinemas', plans to add around 25 screens by 2021 taking its total count to around 100 screens, according to a top company official. Mukta Arts, founded by Bollywood producer and director Subhash Ghai, is planning to invest around Rs 50 crore in the next two years for expansion of the multiplex chain, primarily targeting the budget segment viewers from tier-II and III cities in the domestic market. Besides, the company, which also has overseas presence and operates six screen in Bahrain, has plans to expand its operation abroad. "We currently have 74 screens across India and abroad. We are looking at cities like Chennai and Bengaluru to expand to 100 screens by the calendar year 2021," said Mukta Arts Managing Director Rahul Puri. Mukta Arts would be investing "over Rs 50 crore to reach our targets within the next two or two and a half years," he said adding that "the company is evaluating various ways to raise the funds required for the expansion". On being asked about the projection for the coming 3-4 years for Mukta A2 Cinemas, Puri said, "We intend to double the number of screens." According to its business strategy, the company would continue to focus on the Bahrain market in the gulf region and expand there. "We have a six-screen multiplex at Manama in Bahrain. We will be making an announcement shortly about expansions in Bahrain. At the moment, Bahrain is an area of focus for us as Dubai is fairly saturated," he added. In the domestic market, Mukta Arts is currently reviewing properties in Bihar and Assam. Mukta A2 Cinemas' turnover at the end of the third quarter of the financial year 2019-20 stood at Rs 65 crore. Currently, Mukta A2 Cinemas gets around 60 per cent revenue from ticket sales, 30 per cent from food and beverages and the remaining 10 per cent from advertisement. New Delhi, Jan 1 () State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) has begun an exercise to shed excess cost at the Mumbai offshore oil and gas fields of Panna-Mukta whose control it regained after two and half decades and has already saved Rs 1 crore in the shipping cost. 
 ONGC has changed the contract for bringing oil produced from the fields lying in the Arabian Sea to land, resulting in saving of about USD 5,000 per day, sources with direct knowledge of the development said.
It is expecting an upside in production too after a re-appraisal.
Sources said the previous operators, Shell India and Reliance, had engaged a floating storage and transportation vessel from Mercator Ltd for shipping oil.
 Soon after taking over the field last month, ONGC changed the shipper to state-owned Shipping Corporation Ltd, resulting in saving of about USD 5,000 per day, they said adding the saving totals to Rs 1 crore-plus.
Sources said the company will lay a small undersea pipeline soon to completely do away with the requirement of hiring ships for transporting oil to land.
 ONGC had originally discovered the Panna-Mukta and Tapti (PMT) oil and gas fields in the Arabian Sea off the Mumbai coast in the early 1990s. These were however taken away from the company and in 1994 awarded to a consortium of US energy giant Enron and Reliance Industries Ltd. ONGC as a government nominee was given 40 per cent back-in rights.
 Enron during its bankruptcy was taken over by BG Group of UK in 2003. BG Group's interest was subsequently taken over by Shell in 2016.
 The 25-year production sharing contracts for the PMT fields expire this week and Reliance and Shell had decided not to seek an extension for Panna-Mukta fields, resulting in them being reverted to ONGC on December 21, 2019.
 Reliance and Shell-owned BG Exploration and Production India Ltd (BGEPIL) held 30 per cent stake each in PMT.
 The Tapti fields had ceased production earlier in 2016 and the Tapti process platform facilities were handed over to ONGC (Government of India nominee) in 2016.
 Sources said ONGC sees an upside in oil and gas production from the Panna-Mukta field which it will firm up after doing a reappraisal of the reserves.
 The fields produce about 10,000 barrels of oil per day and 4 million standard cubic meters per day of natural gas.
 The production sharing contracts (PSC) for the Panna-Mukta and Tapti fields, which were executed by the PMT JV with the Government of India in 1994, expired on December 21, 2019.
 Decommissioning and site restoration of residual Tapti facilities, including five unmanned platforms and in-field pipelines, are being carried out by the PMT JV under India's first offshore decommissioning and site restoration project.
 The Panna-Mukta fields, off the Mumbai coast, have produced 211 million barrels of oil and 1.25 trillion cubic feet of natural gas since December 1994. New Delhi, Dec 20 () After operating Panna-Mukta oil and gas fields for 25 years, Royal Dutch Shell and Reliance Industries will revert the western offshore fields back to state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC), the companies said in a statement.
 Panna-Mukta and Tapti (PMT) oil and gas fields in the Arabian Sea off the Mumbai coast were in 1994 awarded a consortium of US energy giant Enron and Reliance. ONGC, which had originally discovered the fields, as a government nominee given 40 per cent back-in rights.
 Enron during its bankruptcy was taken over by BG Group of UK in 2003. BG Group's interest was subsequently taken over by Shell in 2016.
 The 25-year production sharing contracts for the PMT fields expires this week and Reliance and Shell had decided not to seek an extension for Panna-Mukta fields.
 "After 25 years of operating the Panna-Mukta oil and gas fields, the Panna-Mukta and Tapti Joint Venture partners will be handing over the Panna-Mukta oil and gas fields back to the Government of India's (GOI) nominee i.e. ONGC on December 21, 2019," a joint statement issued by Reliance and Shell said.
 Reliance and BG Exploration and Production India Ltd (BGEPIL) hold 30 per cent stake each in PMT while the balance 40 per cent is with ONGC.
 "The production sharing contracts (PSC) for the Panna-Mukta and Tapti fields, which were executed by the PMT JV with the Government of India in 1994, will expire on December 21, 2019," it said.
 The Tapti fields had ceased production earlier in 2016 and the Tapti process platform facilities were handed over to ONGC (GOI nominee) in 2016.

 Speaking on the development, Trivikram Arun, Managing Director, BGEPIL said, "The PMT JV is a great example of a successful partnership between India's largest national oil company (ONGC), India's largest private company (Reliance) and an international oil company (Shell)."
 "Our teams have worked relentlessly to ensure a safe handover of the producing fields from the PMT JV to ONGC at the end of the term," he said.

Shell-Reliance give up Panna-Mukta fields; western offshore fields to revert to ONGC

The <keyword id="6354977" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Supreme-Court">Supreme Court</keyword> allowed the plea of <keyword id="10926" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Reliance">Reliance</keyword> Industries, which sought arbitration in London over its dispute with the central government on Panna, Mukta and Tapti oil and gas fields. 
 
A bench consisting of Justice SS Nijjar and Justice A K Sikri set aside the Delhi High Court’s decision to hear the government's plea against the arbitration proceedings in London. 
 
It said that the high court committed a ‘jurisdictional error’ by agreeing to hear the government's plea. 
 
In 2002, BG Exploration and Production India acquired the share capital of Enron Oil and Gas India Ltd. The production-sharing contract was to be operative for a period of 25 years, expiring in 2019. 
 
In December 2010, differences had come up on issues of payment and reimbursement of royalties, service tax and performance audit by the Comptroller and Auditor General, following which Reliance invoked foreign arbitration clause.

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (<keyword id="6354737" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="ONGC">ONGC</keyword>) is investing a sum of Rs 22,500 crore in redevelopment projects. These new projects will add capacity of 16.7 million tonnes of oil and 56 billion cubic metres of gas, said <keyword id="742600" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="DK-Sarraf">DK Sarraf</keyword>, chairman and managing director, ONGC. 
 "(In 2014) we launched Mumbai High North Redevelopment Phase-III, Mumbai High South Redevelopment Phase-III, integrated development of the Bassein, <keyword id="340020" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Mukta">Mukta</keyword> and <keyword id="150474" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="panna">Panna</keyword> formations and Daman development. These are very important projects for us and a lot of hope rides on their success. They will also serve as a litmus test for our project management skill to implement the projects without time and cost over-run and safely," he said. 
 
The output of gas from the KG-DWN-98/2 (NDA) field in the eastern offshore is likely to start in the next 2-3 years. 
 
He informed that 16 new sources of gas were discovered in FY2014-15. "Therefore, the reserve replacement ratio is again expected to be in excess of one for a 10th consecutive year," he added. 
 <keyword id="81864" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="ONGC-Videsh">ONGC Videsh</keyword>, the foreign arm of the country’s multinational oil and gas company, had struck a deal for a gas field in Azerbaijan and also acquired a 16% stake in the Rovuma offshore Area-I in Mozambique. New Delhi, Apr 3 () Several retail companies and multiplexes operating in large premises and malls are seeking a waiver and negotiating rentals as their businesses are severely hit by the lockdown imposed by the government to curb the spread of novel coronavirus. Several real estate firms and mall owners have also confirmed receiving requests from retail companies operating from their premises to negotiate the rentals in such difficult times. Their respective organisations, Retailers Association of India and Multiplex Association of India have also already raised the issue regarding the difficulties and challenges ahead once the 21-day long lockdown is lifted on April 14. "We have received letters and emails from almost all retailers to not bill for the month of April. This is very normal as how to bill the space, when someone is not using the space," Select CityWalk CEO &amp; Executive Director Yogeshwar Sharma told . However, he also added that at the same time, mall owners have also not got any benefit as "expenses as salaries, maintenance etc are running. It's a tough situation." When asked if the rental waiver request would be considered, Sharma said, "No one knows how long this would continue. There is no clarity on the issue as to whether all malls and cinemas would be allowed to operate or not. It would be premature to say anything about." The real estate firms and mall owners have already received rentals for March, as they get rent in advance for the month. Mukta Arts, which runs multiplex chain under the brand name ''Mukta A2 Cinemas' said that it is in discussion with mall owners over the unprecedented situation. "We are certainly in discussions with all our partners about how we can best handle the situation in a difficult time for everyone. Our agreements do provide for Force Majure and we are considering every option," Mukta Arts MD Rahul Puri said. Kishore-Biyani led Future Group, which owns and operates several retail formats which include popular Big Bazaar and neighbourhood food and grocery store chain, Easyday Club, has also approached the mall and property owners for waiver of rentals till the time, the business is closed. Presently, complying with the government orders, retail companies are dispensing only essential items which include packed foods and vegetables and some of the FMCG products. V-Mart, which operates stores mainly in tier II and III cities said it has also approached the companies seeking a waiver of the rentals and has plans to put rentals of the month of April on hold. "We have also sent a request to our landlords and have communicated to them about the business conditions in such unusual times. We have told them that under the situation we cannot pay rentals of the lockdown period," said V-Mart Retail Chairman and Managing Director Lalit Agarwal. He further said, "We would need their support even for the period after lockdown is lifted, as it would take some time to reach the normal footfall count at our stores. They would have to accommodate us on the rentals." According to the Retailers Association of India, rent and salaries to employees make a large part of the cost of retailing firms which are facing challenges due to mandatory closure of the stores. "RAI has retailers and mall owners as members. Our belief is that they should sit with each other and share the burden of the agreements because this is an unprecedented situation," said RAI CEO Kumar Rajagopalan. RAI has asked the government to provide several rebates on taxes and others. "Rental rebates would not happen unless there are some tax rebates and GST rebates. How can malls owners'' providers rebate to the retailer on hand while paying taxes on the other hand. Rental is an issue, where the retailers and the malls have to come together and sit on a table," he added. Everyone is expecting the situation to be normalised soon, once the lockdown is lifted and their stores and multiplexes become operational. Sharma, hoped that the situation would be normalised soon as "both are partners in the business. We have long term relations." Pacific Group Executive Director Abhishek Bansal said: "Yes, we have received some request from few brands, but it is too early to gauge the actual impact. We need to wait for some more time to come to any conclusion." Gaurs Group MD Manoj Gaur said: "We consider brands as our stakeholder and partner. Will try to help them to the extent possible, but it has been around 10 days only, so need more time to gauge the extent of losses. We also need to wait and watch the kind of relief measures that Government may announce for industry in coming days." The <keyword id="6355014" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="delhi-high-court">Delhi High Court</keyword> on Wednesday sought response from <keyword id="375475" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Future-Retail">Future Retail</keyword> Limited on <keyword id="18635" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword>'s petition to set aside observations in the interim order of a single-bench in a suit filed by the retailer. On December 21, a single-member bench presided by Justice Mukta Gupta had refused to restrain Amazon from interfering in Future Retail's deal with Reliance by writing to the statutory authority in view of the Emergency Award. Pursuant to this, Amazon moved the division bench of the Delhi High Court against the order dated December 21. During the proceedings on Wednesday, the division bench of Chief Justice D.N. Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh issued notice to the Future Retail Limited and slated the matter to February 12. Advocate Gopal Subramanium and Rajiv Nayyar appeared for Amazon. Advocate Harish Salve came on behalf of Future Retail Limited, while Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Darius Khambata for Reliance. Amazon had dragged Future Group to arbitration at Singapore International Arbitration Centre after the firm signed a pact to sell retail, wholesale, logistics and warehousing units to Mukesh Ambani's Reliance in a Rs 24,713 crore deal. As per the Amazon, Future Retail Limited violated the contract by entering into the deal with Reliance. In a fresh plea before the Delhi High Court, Amazon stated, "The learned single Judge made certain prima facie observations on the merits of the Appellant's case in the arbitration proceedings which are inconsistent with the findings of the EA order and thus gravely prejudice the appellant." "The prima facie observations contained in the impugned order effectively resulted in allowing Future Retail Limited to collaterally bypass the EA order," Amazon said. Amazon said Future Retail has been relying on these prima facie observations to misconstrue the true import of the impugned order in an effort to mislead regulators to grant approval to the potential transactions which has forced Amazon to file an appeal to quash and set aside the prima facie observations.

Job losses and non-availability of casual work were the key reasons for this, and every fifth respondent was forced to go hungry because of no money to buy food, Mukta Srivastava, the state's convener for the Anna Adhikar Abhiyan, told reporters here on Saturday. The abhiyan, comprising a group of activists from food and nutrition sector, surveyed a total of 250 people in May and September last year in Mumbai, <keyword id="37647" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Thane">Thane</keyword>, Raigad, <keyword id="2094" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pune">Pune</keyword>, Nandurbar, Solapur, Palghar, Nashik, Dhule and Jalgaon. The <keyword id="6356303" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Centre">Centre</keyword> announced a nationwide lockdown in March last year following the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country. Later, after a few months, restrictions were gradually eased in a phased manner. "Around 96 per cent people out of those surveyed admitted that their earnings dropped sharply in the <keyword id="8970017" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="lockdown-period">lockdown period</keyword>, and their situation remained the same five months after the lockdown was lifted," Srivastava said. Of the <keyword id="10443932" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="total-respondents">total respondents</keyword>, 52 per cent were from rural areas and the rest from urban limits. Those surveyed included 60 per cent women, she said. Before the lockdown, nearly 70 per cent of the respondents had a monthly income ₹7,000, while the remaining earned about ₹3,000 per month, Srivastava said. "The drop in such already <keyword id="39116" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="low-incomes">low incomes</keyword> underscores how hard they would have been hit," she said. Nearly 49 per cent of respondents of the survey, conducted as part of the nationwide Right to Food Campaign, had to borrow money from friends and relatives to buy food, she said. Asked about the earning status of respondents in the first few months after the lockdown came into force last year, Srivastava said, "During April and May, 43 per cent people had no income at all. Only 10 per cent of them have come back to their pre-lockdown income levels." The situation of 34 per cent respondents, who had no income in April and May, remained unchanged till September- October, she said. The findings also revealed that 12 per cent of these people sold their jewellery while three per cent sold their land during the lockdown to buy food, Srivastava said. In nutritional aspects, the survey showed lower consumption of cereals (by 63 per cent), vegetables (76 per cent), pulses (71 per cent) and non-vegetarian food (82 per cent), she added. Around 96% people saw drop in their earnings during COVID-19 induced lockdown

Mumbai, Dec 23 () Equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty on Monday closed marginally lower as emergence of sell-off mainly in heavyweight Reliance Industries put brake on indices' four-session record breaking run.
 The 30-share BSE Sensex settled 38.88 points, or 0.09 per cent, down at 41,642.66, while the broader NSE Nifty slipped 9.05 points, or 0.07 per cent, to close at 12,262.75.
 Nestle India was the top loser in the Sensex pack, shedding 2.20 per cent, on its first day as part of the index.
 Reliance Industries (RIL) fell 1.78 per cent after the government sought to block the company's plan to sell stake to Saudi Aramco.
 Last week, the government moved the Delhi High Court seeking to block Reliance selling 20 per cent stake in its oil and chemical business to Saudi Aramco for USD 15 billion, in view of pending dues of USD 3.5 billion in Panna-Mukta and Tapti oil and gas fields.
 SBI, Tech Mahindra, ITC and Mahindra and mahindra were among the other losers on the index.
 On the other hand, gains in Maruti, Hero MotoCorp, Kotak Bank, Bajaj Auto and Bajaj Finance restricted the losses on the index.
 According to traders, the Sensex reshuffle led to some price movements as fund managers adjusted their portfolios.
 Yes Bank, Vedanta, Tata Motors and Tata Motors DVR have exited the index to make way for Titan Company, UltraTech Cement and Nestle India.
 Bourses in Shanghai and Seoul ended on a negative note, while those in Hong Kong and Tokyo settled in the green.
 Equity benchmarks in Europe were trading on a tepid note in their respective early sessions.
 On the currency front, the rupee depreciated 4 paise against the US dollar to 71.16 (intra-day).

On September 30, the government reduced them by 12.5%. However, one would believe that ONGC, which banks mostly on exploration and production of crude oil, will not be impacted heavily.. Yet, Moody’s believes that this is credit negative for the state-owned oil company. The agency gave a Baa2 stable rating to the Navratna company. “The decline is equal to 0.3% of the company's expected revenue and around 2% of pre-tax profits for FY2020,”said Moody’s estimates. Most of ONGC’s revenues, over 73%, come from production and sale of crude oil. A mere 17% of its revenues comes from natural gas production. The government revises gas prices every six months as per a formula which came into implementation in 2014. “Gas prices in India are determined by taking a volume weighted annual average of the prices prevailing in Henry Hub (US), National Balancing Point (UK), Alberta (Canada) and Russia,” the agency explained. ONGC produces as much as 50.04 million metric tonnes of oil and oil equivalent gas (MMtoe) as per its annual report. For the financial year ending March 2019, its natural gas production grew by 5.4%. A large chunk of its natural gas comes from Panna Mukta Tapti gas fields which it runs along with Reliance Industries and British Gas.

From the Shivajinagar seat, Vijay Kale of BJP scored 22047 more votes than Nimhan Vinayak Mahadev of INC and became the MP. From the Kothrud seat, Kulkarni Medha Vishram of BJP secured 64662 votes more than the runner up candidate of SHS Chandrakant Balbhim Mokate and won the seat. The Parvati constituency winner was Misal Madhuri Satish of BJP who got 69090 votes more than the SHS candidate Taware Sachin (Anna) Sham. The winner from the Pune Cantonment was BJP’s Dilip Kamble and he got 14955 votes more than the INC candidate Bagave Ramesh Anandrao. From the Kasba Peth constituency, Bapat Girish Bhalchandra of BJP won the INC candidate Dr.Rohit Deepak Tilak with a margin of 42272 votes.
