The classic cartoon series revolves around two friends named Motu and Patlu, who live in a fictional town called Furfuri Nagar. From being inanimate characters in kids’ magazine Lotpot, Motu Patlu was brought to life by Nickelodeon in 2012. Motu Patlu today reaches out to over 289 million viewers in seven languages across India, claims Nickelodeon. The show is amongst the top five shows on the channel, contributing 45% to Nickelodeon’s total rating. “Ten years ago, the Indian kids’ entertainment category was in need of indigenous characters and stories and Nickelodeon, with the launch of Motu Patlu, successfully paved the way,” Nina Elavia Jaipuria, head of hindi mass entertainment &amp; kids TV Network, Viacom18 said. Motu Patlu has to its credit over 1,000 stories across 560 episodes, 25 movies, and 20+ games across iOS and Android. They are also the first Indian animated character duo to have their statues at Madame Tussauds, Delhi. It was the fourth most searched show in the world in <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/nickledeons-motu-paltu-becomes-the-most-searched-show-in-china/articleshow/70228055.cms">2018</a> on Google Trends. “Apart from being an exemplary piece of great storytelling, it is the affability and relatable camaraderie that made the duo a runway hit,” Anu Sikka, creative, content &amp; research, Kids TV Network, Viacom18 said. To celebrate ten years of Motu Patlu, the channel has also initiated a dance challenge, giving viewers a chance to feature on Nickelodeon’s social media pages. The idea behind the shows is to weave in moral values into the cartoons. This might find takers in China as, like in India, families in both the countries want their children to watch shows under parental supervision. “Hence Chinese people have some inclination towards Indian content,” explains Suhas. As it's population grows, the Chinese entertainment industry<a href="https://blog.toonboom.com/china-animation-industry-asian-market-report"> too is expected to overtake the US as the world’s biggest box office in 2020.</a> China has over 800 million internet users, out of which 300 million users consume video actively on various platforms including iQiyim,Youku, and Tencent. The only Indian show I remember is Chota Bheem that marked its journey on television in 2008,” said Suhas, who created Motu Patlu in 2011. He further added, “Motu Patlu has been the top show for more than five years. The shows growth also led to the growth of Nickelodeon in India. When we partnered with Nickelodeon it ranked fifth but it became No. 1 cartoon channel soon after the launch of Motu Patlu.” Motu Patlu was also the fourth most searched show on Google in 2018, said China Internet Report 2019. The stories and characters are local. The more authentically local the show is, the better it travels,” Ted Sarandos chief content officer of Netflix told Business Insider India. If the trend continues, Indian cartoons might give a tough competition to their Japanese counterparts. For decades, Japanese cartoons and characters like Shin Chan, Doraemon, Pokemon and Ninja Hattori have been capturing the minds of children around the world, telling authentic Asian stories. Before a user attends a meeting, Meet will automatically frame the video to ensure that everyone is equally visible, the company said in a blogpost. There are no motion disturbances that could draw attention away from the meeting's subject because the automatic framing only happens once. But the video can be reframed manually at any time. This feature does not have an admin control. By default, this function will be disabled, however, it can be turned on by the user. The new feature is scheduled to roll out on November 2, the company said. The feature was first announced during the Google Cloud Next 2022. Earlier, the company had announced a Meet feature that enable users to unmute themselves by holding down the spacebar and to mute themselves again by releasing it. The company said it will make it easier for users to participate in their meetings by quickly unmuting to say something. 'This feature helps in situations where you forget to mute again after unmuting yourself. This feature is OFF by default and can be enabled in the <keyword id="4237083" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="google-meet" source="Orion">Google Meet</keyword> settings,' the company said. The company said it changed how the 'Hey Google' voice control works for Google Meet hardware devices. With this update, the Google Assistant will only be active when a device is not in a meeting and within 10 minutes of an upcoming meeting. Following the arrest the Editor guild has reiterated its demand to strike down the defamation law to avoid misuse. According to the Editors Guild, “The police action is high-handed, arbitrary and amounts to an authoritarian misuse of laws.  Prasant Kanojia was arrested from his home in West Vinod Nagar in New Delhi following a complaint alleging that he tried to “malign” <keyword id="43254" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Yogi-Adityanath">Yogi Adityanath</keyword>’s reputation. Kanojia, who is a freelance journalist, shared a video on his twitter account of a woman who said Yogi Adityanath sent him a marriage proposal. The noida-based news channel aired a story on the same woman. The Editor Guild pointed out the FIR against Vishweshwar Bhat, editor-in-chief of the Karnataka newspaper Vishwavani who published a story on Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil reporting that he got into a drunken altercation with his grandfather, former prime minister HD Deve Gowda. The FIR in this case too is filed as a suo motu by the policy and not by the person directly affected by the story.
