Known for her goofy and creative videos that are highly relatable, Koli has amassed an enormous following – 5.86 million subscribers on YouTube and 2.7 million on Instagram. Having come a long way from starting her YouTube channel in 2015, her trick to being relevant as a content creator has always been associated with being honest – even when she does brand collaborations. Speaking at the Business Insider Global Trends Festival, Koli shared how she has created a balance between her content and brand collaborations. The fine line between branded content and collaborations India’s booming social media market has seen a rise in the number of influencers from across categories – beauty, fashion, entertainment, comedy, and more. It has also paved the way for viral influencer marketing, where brands use an influencer or content creator’s platform to reach out to their audience. But here’s where a problem also comes in – how much-branded content is actually content for your audience? Koli believes that digital media users are over the era of direct marketing, and pathetic ads don’t have space on social media. “For creators like me, we put our life out there; it’s a much more honest conversation we have with our audiences. When the relationship builds on a foundation like this, it gets very difficult to sell things. I believe more in collaborations and how that helps my channel and the brand,” she said. As a content creator, Koli is not ready to compromise on any communication that goes up on her channel as she knows a bad integration will leave a dent in her channel. “The creator, as well as the brand, have a lot at stake while creating a brand video. It’s important to have a conversation and make it collaborative,” she said. Koli also shared advice that she got from her YouTuber friend – <keyword id="9827959" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="BeYouNick">BeYouNick</keyword>. “He says that every time you write a brand video after your script is ready, just remove the brand from it. Does the video still work? If it does, then it’s a beautiful placement where the brand works seamlessly well, and your video works on its own,” she said. How lockdown changed the way brands reach out to their audience As the coronavirus lockdown happened, content creators too had to adjust to new ways of making videos – many had to take up different skills and become their own photographers, videographers,etc. Meanwhile the audience’s time spent on new media platforms actually jumped many folds, which meant the demand for content was greater than ever. In fact, for Koli, she saw that the consumption pattern of content had changed entirely during the lockdown – people were spending more time on her channels. “More than how much new audience we got, the audience behaviour changed drastically during the lockdown. So even if zero new users came on my platform, the behaviour and consumption pattern changed,” she said. Koli shares that the lockdown was like a massive collaborative project where brands met creators midway and understood their pain points. “When the lockdown started, brands also very quickly adapted to the way of content creation. I was clear with brands that if they are expecting a highly produced video, that wasn’t going to happen,” she said. Australian all-rounder Shane Watson announces retirement from competitive cricket

If all goes well, Phase-II clinical trials of Russian vaccine Sputnik V will commence at state government-run College of Medicine and Sagore Dutta Hospital by the end of this month, a senior official of the health department said on Tuesday. The necessary surveys -- which include visiting the hospital to check its infrastructure and cold storage facilities -- have been carried out by a site management organisation before starting the process, he stated. Snehendu Koner, the head of business development at site management organisation CliniMed LifeSciences, said a report on survey findings has been sent to the Drug Control General of India (DCGI) for approval. "We have visited the site, conducted checks on its infrastructure as well as facilities for storing vaccines and immunogenicity samples. "We have also gone through the hospital's records and found it has experiences of conducting clinical trials. Our findings are quite satisfactory and we have sent it to the DCGI for approval," Koner told when contacted. Once the DCGI gives green signal, the hospital's ethics committee will issue a clearance to start the Phase-II clinical trials there, he said "We have also identified the principal investigator as well the co-investigator for the process," he said. The clinical trial of Sputnik V, scheduled to be held throughout the country, will be conducted by pharma company Dr Reddy's Lab, which has joined hands with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF). According to a health department official, the RDIF will be supplying 100 million doses of its potential COVID-19 vaccine to Dr Reddy's Lab. Hundred volunteers will be chosen all over the country, and out of them 75 will be administered the vaccine. Twenty five others will be given placebo -- a substance or treatment which is designed to have no therapeutic value. Phase-II trial of Russia's COVID-19 vaccine awaits DCGI nod in India

Scientists have shown that there are seven "forms of disease" in mild COVID-19, and that the novel coronavirus infection leaves behind significant changes in the immune system even after 10 weeks, findings which may aid in the treatment of patients, and in the development of a potent vaccine. The study, published in the journal Allergy, involving 109 recovered COVID-19 patients and 98 healthy individuals in the control group, showed that various symptoms related to COVID-19 occur in groups. In the research, scientists, including those from the Medical University of Vienna in Austria, identified seven groups of symptoms including "flu-like symptoms" with fever, chills, fatigue and cough, "common cold-like symptoms" with rhinitis, sneezing, dry throat and nasal congestion, and "joint and muscle pain". They said patients may also experience "eye and mucosal inflammation" symptoms, "lung problems" with pneumonia and shortness of breath, "gastrointestinal problems" including diarrhoea, nausea and headache, and "loss of sense of smell and taste and other symptoms". "In the latter group we found that loss of smell and taste predominantly affects individuals with a 'young immune system,' measured by the number of immune cells -- T lymphocytes -- that have recently emigrated from the thymus gland," said Winfried F. Pickl, a co-author of the study from the Medical University of Vienna. "This means that we were able to clearly distinguish systemic (groups one and three) from organ-specific forms (groups six and seven) of primary COVID-19 disease," Pickl said. From the analysis, the scientists established that COVID-19 leaves behind long detectable changes in the blood of recovered patients, very similar to a fingerprint. Citing an example, they said the number of granulocytes, which are otherwise responsible in the immune system for fighting bacterial pathogens, is significantly lower than normal in the COVID-19 group. "However, both the CD4 and CD8 T cell compartment developed memory cells and CD8 T cells remained strongly activated. This indicates that the immune system is still intensively engaged with the disease several weeks after initial infection," Pickl explained. According to the researchers, increased levels of antibody-producing immune cells were detected in the blood of recovered patients. The higher the fever of the affected patient during the mild course of the disease, the higher were the antibody levels against the virus, they said. "Our findings contribute to a better understanding of the disease and help us in the development of potential vaccines, since we now have access to promising biomarkers and can perform even better monitoring," the scientists said. "Above all, the study shows that the human immune system "doubles up" when defending against COVID-19 with the combined action of immune cells and antibodies," they noted. According to the study, the immune cells are also able to memorise certain "moves" on the part of the virus and respond to them. "Now it is a matter of implementing these findings and using them for the development of highly-effective COVID-19 vaccines," the researchers said. "We understand what the law is and the pre-eminence of the role of Congress and specifically the House of Representatives when it comes to counting the votes. "We're ready. We're prepared. We've been ready for a while because we see this irresponsibility of the President, his disrespect for the Constitution, for our democracy and for the integrity of our elections. So we're ready for him," the veteran Democrat was quoted as saying in an NPR public radio station interview on Monday. Pelosi's remarks came a day after the Axios news outlet published a report on Sunday saying that the President has privately discussed plans to declare victory on Tuesday night even though it might take a few days for all mail-in ballots to be counted in some states, reports Xinhua news agency. As some states do not allow processing mail-in ballots until Election Day, such as key swing state Pennsylvania, analysts have warned that the winner of the presidential election may still be unknown when polling is over, and the final results could be delayed for days. But while speaking to reporters after arriving in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Sunday, Trump claimed the Axios report as was "false", while noting that he thinks "it's a terrible thing when ballots can be collected after an election". On October 29, the Supreme Court ruled that Pennsylvania election officials can accept absentee ballots arriving three days after election day, handing Democrats a victory in a legal fight, and prompting criticism from Trump. The President added he thought it was "terrible when we can't know the results of an election the night of the election in a modern-day age of computers". According to the latest tally from the US Elections Project, voters have already cast more than 98 million ballots in early voting ahead of Election Day. That figure, including more than 35 million in-person votes and nearly 63 million returned mail-in ballots, represents more than 71 per cent of the total votes counted in the 2016 general elections, the data showed. Besides the Trump-Biden race, all 435 seats in the US House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 seats in the Senate will also be in the fray on Tuesday. US Congress prepared to decide outcome of election if poll results are disputed

The <keyword id="6354977" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Supreme-Court">Supreme Court</keyword> Tuesday deferred to November 5 the hearing on a batch of pleas relating to charging of interest on interest by banks on EMIs which were not paid by the borrowers who availed of the RBI <keyword id="6840678" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="loan-moratorium">loan moratorium</keyword> scheme in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. The <keyword id="6354335" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="reserve-bank-of-india">Reserve Bank of India</keyword> and the Finance Ministry have already filed separate additional affidavits in the apex court saying that the banks, financial and non-banking financial institutions will credit into the accounts of eligible borrowers by November 5 the difference between compound and simple interest collected on loans of up to Rs 2 crore during the <keyword id="117489" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="moratorium">moratorium</keyword> scheme period. A bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan, R Subhash Reddy and M R Shah was requested by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta that the hearing in the loan moratorium case be deferred as he would be busy arguing on behalf of the Centre in other matter relating to the Central Vista project. "These moratorium matters were listed yesterday but they came up today. I am requesting for an adjournment considering I have a case (Central Vista) where I will be arguing" the law officer said. A letter seeking deferment of the hearing in the case was also circulated by advocate-on-record Anil Katiyar for the Centre to the parties and the bench. The top court acceded to the request and adjourned the hearing on pleas including the one filed by Gajendra Sharma on November 5. The pleas pertained to charging of interest on interest by banks on EMIs which have not been paid by borrowers after availing the loan moratorium scheme of RBI during March 1 to August 31. Earlier, the RBI had filed the affidavit saying that it has asked all banks, financial and non-banking financial institutions to take "necessary actions" to credit into the accounts of eligible borrowers the difference between compound and simple interest collected on loans of up to Rs 2 crore during the moratorium scheme. Prior to this, the central government had told the apex court that lenders have been asked to credit into the accounts of eligible borrowers the difference between compound and simple interest collected on loans of up to Rs 2 crore during the RBI's loan moratorium scheme by November 5. The government had said that the ministry has issued a scheme as per which lending institutions would credit this amount in the accounts of borrowers for the 6-month loan moratorium period which was announced following the COVID-19 pandemic situation. On October 14, the apex court had observed that the Centre should implement "as soon as possible" the interest waiver on loans of up to Rs 2 crore under the RBI's moratorium scheme and had said that the common man's Diwali is in the government's hands. The RBI had on March 27 issued the circular which allowed lending institutions to grant a moratorium on payment of instalments of term loans falling due between March 1, 2020, and May 31,2020, due to the pandemic. Later, the moratorium was extended till August 31 this year. Her YouTube documentary ‘<keyword id="11579227" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Creators-for-Change">Creators For Change</keyword>’ gave her an opportunity to work with Michelle Obama, Liza Koshy and Thembe Mahlaba. They track the experiences of adolescent girls in Vietnam, India, and Namibia overcoming adversity to pursue their education. Besides that, her short film 'Khayali Pulao' was screened at the New York Indian Film Festival in June 2021. Looking back at her journey and these huge milestones today, Prajakta feels a bit of extreme gratitude and shock. She shares, “It is unbelievable. I feel some part of my brain just refuses to process it, which comes and goes. It made me uncomfortable at first. I kept wondering why can’t I process it? I should be jumping and screaming. I just want to sit still for 10 minutes and then I just simply got back to work. This also happened when I first spoke at Comic-Con. When I first heard that we got nominated at Emmys, my brain just stopped working then. I was happy with the nomination and then the documentary went on to win an Emmy! Emmy was never even in the vicinity of my plans or thoughts.” On whether becoming a global icon was always a part of her plan, she says, “Now it is a part of my plan. I didn’t know that I could do it. I am loving the reactions my documentary and short film have received, but I am not really jotting down my plans. Every day of my past six years has been different from each other.” In India, she has also set her foot into Bollywood with her movie Jug Jugg Jeeyo featuring Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani. She does see herself partaking in more feature films now and plans to keep exploring more acting options as they come but Youtube will always be her first baby. She says, “I always liked acting, I was in theatre in college and the first time I performed, there was this mad adrenaline rush of amusement that I felt. But radio was always part of the plan and I stopped acting after college. There were a few professional Marathi shows that I was a part of, it was pretty serious. However, I was hell-bent on becoming a radio jockey so I didn’t think twice before letting that go. After Khayali Pulao, Mismatched and now, Jug Jug Jeeyo, I feel I have tasted blood and I cannot stop. So, I definitely want to act more. I love being on set and it is Dharma! Telling us about her lows, Prajakta says, “It has happened to me so many times. It threw me off the first time, which was in 2017, I thought to myself, is it time for me to shut my channel? But I soon realised that it is a part of my job. I just had to make peace with the fact that not every piece of content I upload will work because my audience is changing, growing everyday and so is the platform. I am changing everyday, too. There are things that I wouldn’t like today from my past and I just have to accept that and find my way around it. Right now, content blocks and I are not friends but we are acquaintances and we can exist in the same room. I used to get very scared before and now I have realised that I only come out of it stronger.” Prajakta has seen lots of ups and downs in her career but she never gave up. The churn of employees at Indian IT companies is settling down as the likes of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), <keyword id="6354512" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Infosys">Infosys</keyword>, HCL Technologies, <keyword id="10862" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Wipro">Wipro</keyword>, and Tech Mahindra are witnessing some of the lowest attrition rates that they’ve seen in a while. “A large amount of lateral hiring happens because of attrition replacement. If I’m losing 20 people, I have to hire 20 people. To that extent, lateral hiring will come down,” HCL Tech CHRO Apparao VV told Business Insider. Part of it will be based on form booking and a part of it will be based on anticipation — past number. With attrition at an all-time low of 8.9%, India’s biggest IT firm TCS too has been focused on onboarding freshers since July. “We started onboarding freshers and increased our recruitment globally in Q2 in anticipation of the growth trajectory,” said TCS CHRO, Milind Lakkad, during the second-quarter earnings call. The company is looking to onboard 10,000 employees over the next year in the US amid the uncertainty around H-1B visa regulations. Over the last five years, TCS has hired around 21,500 employees in the country in its efforts to localise. Wipro, which recently saw a change in leadership with Thierry Delaporte at the helm, did not disclose any exact numbers but does have ‘robust’ hiring plans for the second half of the current fiscal. “Very robust hiring this quarter, both laterally and campuses. We continue to see the same momentum going forward,” said the company’s CHRO Saurabh Govil during the second-quarter earnings call. He added that given the company’s current growth momentum, hiring — laterally and via campuses — is an important part of managing that growth. This includes hiring across geographies, including India and in the new business areas, especially cloud and cybersecurity, where the demand lies. India’s IT sector is among the first to recover from the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic. Hiring freshers, rather than laterally, allows companies to pick up talent that’s relatively cheaper. It’s also easier to train fresh minds in-house for specific skills, especially because they are in short supply in the market. <ul><li>Global stock markets, including India, have witnessed a bout of volatility in the run-up to US elections. Most analysts believe that short-term volatility is likely to remain, irrespective of the verdict, but a Biden victory may be favourable for India in the long run.</li><li>Abhimanyu Sofat, head of research at IIFL Securities, believes that Trump’s victory will simply lead to the continuation of the current stalemate in global trade.</li><li>Biden’s win may play out well for the IT sector compared to Trump, analysts at Angel Broking believe. </li></ul>Stock markets around the globe saw the worst October this year, given the resurgence of COVID cases worldwide. But one other reason for the caution was the US Presidential elections. Indian stock-market index, Sensex, has shed over 222 points in the past one week, and if we eliminate today’s trading gains, the loss goes above 772 points in a week. The race to the White House is a keenly tracked global event. While it may be challenging to anticipate the outcome this time around, the impact on Indian markets is likely to be positive, according to UBS. They believe that if Biden comes to power by winning both houses of Congress, India will benefit from “potentially more favourable US trade policies.” Why is the US Presidential election important for India? Analysts believe that this time around, there is likely to be some delay around the verdict of US elections. Also, the possibility of it being contested in the Supreme Court will lead to volatility in the markets. “The US election is important for India not only economically but also strategically,” said Binod Modi, head of the strategy, Reliance Securities. Joseph Thomas, head of research at Emkay Wealth Management, said the markets in India might see heightened volatility in the run-up to the elections and immediately after that. “This volatility is the result of a perception that there could be drastic changes in the US policy depending upon who is going to win.” Jyoti Roy, equity strategist, Angel Broking, explained that a favourable outcome of the US elections results would result in a risk-on environment leading to strong foreign portfolio investment flows for India. Whereas, an adverse outcome of the US elections, on the other hand, will result in a global risk-off environment, which will lead to foreign institutional investors pulling out money from India and put pressure on the markets. How Biden’s victory may play out for India equities? The sectors which may continue to benefit as far as India is concerned is technology, pharma and healthcare, insurance and the consumer sector. According to Modi from Reliance Securities, no matter the outcome of US elections, the relations with India would continue to remain good given recent geopolitical developments. However, the democratic party’s win in the election can result in higher fiscal stimulus and favourable immigration policies, which bodes well for emerging market equities, including India. Angel Broking’s Roy also said Biden’s victory would also be extremely positive for the IT sector as the restrictions placed on H1B visas by the Trump administration are likely to be reversed. And, “In such a scenario, we would also recommend HCL Technologies and Persistent systems as our top picks from the IT space in case of a Joe Biden victory.” Whereas Amit Jain, Chief Strategist - Global Asset Class, Ashika Group, said “If Biden wins then you may see the World be back to Pre-Trump era, where you will see much better trade relations within the World Economies. This may benefit all the sectors, as we may see much better harmony and trade relationships within the world economies.” What if Trump wins? Abhimanyu Sofat, head of research at IIFL Securities, believes that Trump’s victory will simply lead to the continuation of the current stalemate in global trade. Hence, nothing major is expected pertaining to any specific sector. However, Angel Broking said, “Trump’s victory will be positive for cyclical sectors like Auto, Banking and small-ticket consumer durables.” In the Auto sector, they prefer two-wheeler stocks with Hero Motocorp and Endurance Technologies as their top picks. Cholamandalam Investments and IDFC First Bank are the top picks in the BFSI space, while Hawkins Cooker is the top pick consumer durable space, Roy added.
