In his IPL career, Starc has 34 wickets to his name in 27 matches he played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) from 2014-15. Earlier, Cummins broke the roof as he became the costliest player in the history of the Indian Premier League when he was acquired by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for Rs 20.50 crore on Tuesday at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. With a base price of Rs 2 crore, Cummins attracted the attention of Mumbai Indians who entered the bidding war for the first time. As the price continued to rise, MI backed while Royal Challengers Bangalore joined the bidding war against CSK. When it seemed RCB would walk away with the players SRH entered the battle, and a high-bidding war unfolded in the next moments. As he touched the 20 crore mark, the entire arena cheered and applauded. RCB eventually gave up and SRH acquired the services of the Australian World Cup-winning skipper for Rs 20.50 crore and Cummins became the most expensive player in the history of the IPL. Earlier, Sam Curran held the record with a price tag of Rs 18.50 crore. He was sold to Punjab Kings back in 2022.

In particular, look at no. 2 on the top investments list — Yuzvendra Chahal. His price of Rs. 10 Lacs returned an 82.6X multiple on the investment ! But this isn’t the first time “cheap” players outperformed at the IPL. In fact, <a href="https://medium.com/r/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.espncricinfo.com%2Fiplcountdown%2Fcontent%2Fstory%2F1090031.html" class="markup--anchor markup--p-anchor" target="_blank">it happens rather often</a>. This includes the wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Kartik. He has scored 325 runs in the 14 matches with an average of 23.21. This is not what one would have expected out of the second most expensive players in the tournament 

	Kevin Pietersen

	 Team: Delhi Daredevils Cost of acquisition: Rs 9 crores The third most expensive player for the IPL season 7 is Kevin Pietersen and is the captain of Delhi Daredevils. In the 11 matches that he has played, he scored 294 runs averaging 29.40. Post the last match with <keyword id="13883" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Kings-XI-Punjab">Kings XI Punjab</keyword>, Pietersen said in a media interview that he was bitterly disappointed with that day’s match. He added, “I'd like to apologize to the Delhi Daredevils fans.” Pietersen signed off saying that he hoped that the things would be much different in the forthcoming season.

	Cost of acquisition: 4.5 crores

	The Kiwi batsman Corey Anderson has having a horrible spell at the ongoing IPL. However, his knock of 95 runs in just 44 deliveries helped Mumbai Indians secure a place in the playoffs. In a nail-biting match, Mumbai Indians were entrusted with the task of chasing 190 runs in under 15 overs. Though his heroic feet needs to be accoladed, but in the overall stats, Anderson has hit 265 runs in his 12 matches and has an average of 29.44.

Kolkata Knight Riders (<keyword id="19924483" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="KKR" source="keywords">KKR</keyword>) all-rounder <keyword id="20453457" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sunil-Narine" source="keywords">Sunil Narine</keyword> has become the first player to win the '<keyword id="20028441" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Most-Valuable-Player" source="keywords">Most Valuable Player</keyword>' award in the Indian Premier League (<keyword id="19906063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="IPL" source="keywords">IPL</keyword>) thrice after beating the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the final of the 2024 season. Narine won his first <keyword id="19936836" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="MVP-award" source="keywords">MVP award</keyword> in the IPL 2012 after picking up 24 wickets, it was also his debut season. His second MVP came in the 2018 season of the tournament when he scored 357 runs and picked 17 wickets as well. In the 17th season of the IPL, Narine displayed a stunning performance for the Kolkata-based franchise. He scored 488 runs and bagged 17 wickets. In the final match of the IPL 2024 against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Narine took one wicket and gave 16 runs in his four-over spell, he removed Jaydev Unadkat from the crease in the 18th over. During the run chase, he scored six runs after playing two balls at a strike rate of 300. KKR lifted their third title under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer after thumping the Hyderabad-based franchise by 8 wickets on Sunday. Recapping the match, SRH won the toss and elected to bat first. KKR rocked SRH with continuous wickets, with the big buy Mitchell Starc justifying his hefty price tag. Only skipper Pat Cummins (24 in 19 balls, with two fours and a six) and Aiden Markram (20 in 23 balls, with three fours) touched the 20-run mark and SRH was bundled out for 113 in 18.3 overs. Andre Russell (3/19) was the top bowler for KKR. Starc (2/14) and Harshit Rana (2/24) also contributed well with the ball. Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy and Vaibhav Arora took a wicket each. KKR pulled off the run-chase of 114 run-target in just 10.3 overs with eight wickets in hand. Venkatesh Iyer (52* in 26 balls, with four boundaries and three sixes) and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (39 in 32 balls, with five fours and two sixes) shined for KKR in the final match of the tournament. Sunil Narine becomes first player to win MVP award in IPL thrice

<keyword id="126991" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mercer">Mercer</keyword> just revealed its list of most expensive cities in the world for expatriates and it shed light on various aspects. As per the Mercer's 23rd annual Cost of Living Survey, Luanda, the capital of Angola, emerged as the <keyword id="2905848" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="costliest-city">costliest city</keyword>, followed by Hong Kong and Tokyo at the second and third places, respectively. The other seven cities in the list were Zurich, Singapore, Seoul, Geneva, Shanghai, New York City, and Bern. Speaking about India, Mumbai emerged as the most expensive city for expatriates in India. It ranked higher than Paris, Canberra, Seattle and Vienna. Meanwhile, New Delhi was placed at 99. Chennai (135), Bangalore (166) and Kolkata (184) were the other Indian cities on the list. Overall, Indian cities have moved up the global ranking substantially. Mumbai has moved 25 notches up from being at 82 in 2016 while New Delhi has improved to 99 in 2017 from 130 in 2016, Chennai (135 this year from 158 in 2016), Bengaluru (to 166 from 180) and Kolkata (to 184 from 194). The improvement of ranking of Indian cities was not just on account of internal factors, but also because some global cities fell in ranking following currency volatility, especially in Egypt, Turkey and the United Kingdom, Mercer said.
