Jain is doing what entrepreneurs don’t even dare to think of. He is venturing into outer space through his Moon Express, the first private company to land a spacecraft on the Moon.<br />
<br /> Moon Express has signed a contract with Rocket Lab to launch three <keyword id="3257081" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Moon-Express-robotic-spacecraft">Moon Express robotic spacecraft</keyword> to land on the Moon starting in 2017. Moon Express is the first company in history to secure such a contract.<br />

“We will become the fourth superpower if we land up in moon,” said Jain.<br />
<br />
What may come as a surprise is that Jain does not have any experience in space engineering.<br />
<br />
So where did the idea some from? “Dream so big that people think it’s crazy. I think the biggest strength is not being expert in the field. Disruptive ideas come from people who come out of the industry,” said Jain.<br />
<br />
“It is not about the vision statement. It is about being obsessed with your passion. Exponential technology is making everything possible. Entrepreneurs are doing it all and will do it. Capital flows where opportunities are,” said Jain.<br />
<br />
Talking about when customers don’t come on board easily, Jain said it is really about the mindset.<br />
<br />
“You can watch me do it or be a part of it. You can be the coolest guy but your dad will always be the dad. Your self-worth is what you create. Your success is not about your bank balance, it is about how many lives you have touched,” added Jain.<br />

In November 2015, US President <keyword id="15962" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Barack-Obama">Barack Obama</keyword> signed a law that gave them <keyword id="3260564" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="lunar-mining-rights">lunar mining rights</keyword>. <br /><br /> Cofounder <keyword id="717668" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Naveen-Jain">Naveen Jain</keyword> says that his company is meant to spread a bigger message. <br /><br />

	“The biggest thing is to be able to make an autonomous lunar lander. It is a group of 30 people who did not take no for an answer. But we built a company which spreads a bigger message to the world, to achieve everybody’s moonshot and that moonshot can be as small as fighting against dowry,” said Naveen.

	It will take 10 years before they are able to take humans to space and the moon. But the good news is it might cost less than USD 1 million dollars, as technology makes materials cheaper and cheaper.

	“NASA has even tested successfully a 3D printed rocket engine and it worked. This changes the game. Now we can make a titanium rocket with carbon fibre that can take you to the lower orbit for 3 to 4 million dollars,” said Jain.

Since it was founded in 2010, Moon Express has been working diligently towards its goal of joining these three nations.</p><p>"If we succeed, <a href="http://www.popsci.com/how-first-private-landing-on-moon-could-move-humanity-forward">not only will we become the first private company to land on the moon but the fourth superpower</a>," Naveen Jain, one of three co-founders of Moon Express, told Popular <keyword id="41551" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="science">Science</keyword>. "If a small group of entrepreneurs can do something that only had been done by superpowers, that's a huge shift in what's possible."</p><h2><strong>Providing humanity with a plan B</strong></h2><p>Rephrasing John F. Kennedy's famous line, Jain explained that Moon Express chose to the go to the moon not because it is easy, but because it is profitable. Although the lander will be equipped with scientific instruments, the company's main goal is <a href="http://www.techinsider.io/first-private-moon-landing-2016-8">mining for metals, fuels, and moon rocks</a><span> - which some estimates have valued at $16 quadrillion dollars.</span></p><p>"We see this as a first step in providing humanity with a plan B, rather than living on a single point of failure called Spaceship Earth," Jain said.</p><p>Jain said that the fact that something that cost NASA billions of dollars a few years ago can be done for under $10 million dramatically transforms space exploration.</p><p>Moon Express is one of 17 contenders for <a href="http://lunar.xprize.org/">Google's Lunar X-Prize</a>, a $30 million dollar challenge to land a spacecraft on the moon, travel 1,640 feet, and transmit high-definition photos and video back to Earth.</p><p>It is the first private space company ever to ask for permission to travel beyond Earth's orbit, setting a precedent in space regulations. In order to be more persuasive, it <span>came up with its own temporary framework, allowing the US government to oversee the mission. </span></p><p>Although it hasn't yet chosen a landing site, they plan to <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/04/science/moon-express-faa.html?_r=0">stay away from the Apollo landing sites and other NASA artifacts</a>.</p><h2><strong>The beginning of our lives in space</strong></h2><p>The company hopes to launch toward the end of next year aboard an experimental rocket built by Rocket Labs, an aerospace company. Although it has developed and tested a large prototype lander, Moon Express still needs to produce a miniaturized version for the mission. Jain said that they are currently testing the navigation and propulsion system. They also need to work out the payloads and the <a href="http://www.popsci.com/how-first-private-landing-on-moon-could-move-humanity-forward">software that will land the rover on the moon</a>.</p><p>While NASA has had its eyes on Mars in recent years, Jain believes that the best way to learn to live there is to start by living on the moon.</p><p>"It's much better to learn to live off the planet when you're only a few days away rather than months on Mars," Jain said. "We're going to need to go the Moon first. This private company just became the first to get an official green light to land on the moon, and it could shape the future of space exploration

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Emoji-identifiers called Yats are selling for hundreds of thousands of dollars.</li><li>Yats can be used as a personal URL or crypto-wallet address, replacing jumbled numbers and letters.</li></ul><p>At a virtual auction last April, bidders fought for a chance to own an emoji.</p><p>A single golden key sold for $425,000. A rocketship-and-moon combo sold for $200,000. A frog-and-crown combo sold for $105,000.</p><p>You may be thinking: These high-flying prices for a digital picture sound a lot like bidding for <keyword id="11893898" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="crypto" source="Orion">crypto</keyword> collectibles called NFTs. But this is a new craze — a craze for emoji-identifiers known as Yats that could become your online descriptor in <keyword id="12461337" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="web3" source="Orion">Web3</keyword>, or the next iteration of the internet.</p><p>A <keyword id="13132304" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="yat" source="Orion">Yat</keyword> is used as a person's online identity, a link to a URL or <keyword id="12368097" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="crypto-wallet" source="Orion">crypto wallet</keyword> address, for example. And according to Naveen Jain, the founder of Yat Labs, it's a tool for "self-expression" that replaces jumbled numbers and letters currently used in URLs and crypto addresses. </p><p>"<keyword id="13132306" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="emojis" source="Orion">Emojis</keyword> are a universal language," he said. "You can tell incredible stories using emojis. We thought that could be a way to humanize these addresses."</p><p>Yat Labs launched in February 2021, and in a year, the company sold about 160,000 Yats for about $20 million in revenue, said Jain, who was among <a href="https://www.coindesk.com/business/2021/12/07/most-influential-40-naveen-jain/">CoinDesk's most influential people of 2021</a> for his invention.</p><p>But since Russia's invasion of Ukraine last month, <keyword id="13132305" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="yat-prices" source="Orion">Yat prices</keyword> may not be as high as before, if NFTs are any indication. Sales of the digital collectibles have <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/currencies/bored-ape-yacht-club-nft-sales-plunge-crypto-non-fungible-2022-3">plunged</a> in recent weeks amid the war. Yat Labs said it's been involved in donation efforts to Ukraine, but didn't specify how. According to <a href="https://www.elliptic.co/blog/live-updates-millions-in-crypto-crowdfunded-for-the-ukrainian-military">Elliptic data</a>, the country has brought in $63 million worth of cryptocurrency from 120,000 donations.</p><p>Still, Yats have been popping up in prominent spaces on Twitter, where celebrities including Ke$ha and G-Eazy have placed their emoji-identifiers in their bio. G-Eazy's is a bat-rose, while Ke$ha's is a rainbow-rocketship-alien.</p><p>Single and double-emoji yats generally sell for higher prices because they're rarer, especially given that Yat Labs only has 452 emojis currently in its set. But don't worry, there will be enough yats to go around. With Yats able to come in five-emoji versions, there are about 19 trillion possible combinations, said Jain, allowing everyone on Earth to have about as many as they'd want.</p><p>"Our ambition is that ultimately we want every internet-connected user to have a Yat, at least one Yat," he said. "We believe that we have a chance to redefine how people think about online identity."</p><p>Jain said he envisions Yats as a way for people to "tell their story in Web3." </p><p><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/what-is-web3-internet-blockchain-cryptocurrency-web1-web2-future-2021-12">By definition</a>, Web3 is the successor to Web2 that will be based on blockchain technology and ideally be decentralized, giving ownership to individuals instead of large corporations. The concept has been widely debated, but Jain sees Web3 as a way for individuals to <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/currencies/facebook-metaverse-nfts-crypto-meta-cryptocurrencies-2021-11">own their identities</a> online and their Yats to be an expression of it. </p><p>"Imagine if your Yat is something like unicorn-robot-dancer," Jain said. "In three characters, that's really saying a lot. That's like telling a whole story about somebody that literally would be impossible to tell with alphanumeric characters."</p>
