"Everyone around her was asleep."The teenager eventually moved to the row behind her as there were no seats next to her grandmother, the complaint read."Once off the plane and in the airport in Boston, Minor A told her grandmother that the man sitting next to her had done something 'inappropriate,'" prosecutors said in the complaint."What Dr. Mohanty is accused of doing in front of a fourteen-year-old girl is reprehensible," Christopher DiMenna, the Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Division, said in a press release. "Today's arrest should make it crystal clear that the FBI takes crimes aboard aircraft seriously, everything from sexual misconduct as alleged in this case, to assault, interfering with the flight crew, and theft."Investigators said in the complaint that they interviewed the teenager and the family members she met days after the incident. Mohanty, who was approached by federal agents in May 2023, denied the ordeal."I have no recollection of that," Mohanty told prosecutors, the complaint said.

Bhubaneswar, Apr 20 () Hoteliers in Odisha havesought a slew of relief measures including waiver of taxesfrom the state government to tide over the crisis arising outof the ongoing nationwide lockdown, an official said onMonday.The Reserve Bank of India's announcement for three-month moratorium on loan repayments in the wake of thecoronavirus outbreak is "not at all adequate" for thehospitality sector in the state, Hotel and RestaurantAssociation of Odisha chairman J K Mohanty said."Hoteliers have submitted a memorandum to the stategovernment seeking a number of measures for the survival ofthe hospitality and travel sectors, which are severely hit bythe lockdown."State tourism secretary Vishal Dev has also held ateleconference with us," Mohanty told .The hotel industry needs moratorium on repayments ofall working capital loans and overdrafts for at least oneyear, he said."There should be collateral and interest free loans upto 5 years for SMEs in tourism sector which will help themsustain and rebuild," Mohanty said, adding that the statefinance department was expected to write to all the banks forextending the relief urgently to the sector.The hoteliers have also urged the government to waivestate GST until the situation becomes normal. "We want a complete GST holiday for the tourism,travel and hospitality industry for the next twelve months,"he said.There should also be waiver of fees for licences orrenewals for the hospitality and travel industry in the statefor the time being, Mohanty said.The hoteliers, in their petition, also said the urbandevelopment department should provide 50 per cent discount inpayment of all statutory fees for getting approval of thetourism projects from the planning authorities."The taxes, which have been collected or yet to belevied during the COVID 19 period, bar licence, ground waterand electricity fees should be waived for three months, " hesaid.The industry body said the wage bills for salarypayments to staff account for 25-30 per cent of the revenue ofa hotel, and the government has made a "request" to allhoteliers to ensure that there should be "no salary cut orno retrenchment"."Under such circumstances, the HRAO urged thegovernment to consider extending interest-free financialassistance to the stakeholders for payment of salary, wages,and ESIC from the Odisha Labour Welfare Fund for at least sixmonths," Mohanty said.The hoteliers also demanded a comprehensive marketingplan for revival of the sector. "There should be a short and long term plans with athrust on domestic travellers and Indian corporate with properguidelines and various incentives for meetings, conferencesand exhibitions," Mohanty said.This apart, the government should declare a tourismpolicy with incentives to boost infrastructure of the state,he added. Hit by lockdown, Odisha hoteliers seek govt help

New Delhi, The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) Chairman <keyword id="20085060" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="deepak-mohanty" source="keywords">Deepak Mohanty</keyword> on Friday said the total corpus under the <keyword id="20085061" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="national-pension-system" source="keywords">National Pension System</keyword> and Atal Pension Yojana has crossed Rs 11 lakh crore. The milestone of Rs 11 lakh crore asset under management (AUM) was achieved on January 10, 2024, he told reporters here. The AUM has increased from Rs 10 lakh crore to Rs 11 lakh crore in 4 months 18 days (August 24, 2023 to January 10, 2024), he said, adding the private sector AUM crossed Rs 2 lakh crore. The authority in September revised the AUM target of Rs 12 lakh crore for the current fiscal. The pension authority is working on a minimum assured pension plan, and it could become a reality in the next financial year if the guarantee issued is resolved. "There are a lot of complications in determining the rate of return, what to set as the bar for return. Fund managers are also thinly capitalised. So, you have to keep a check on their liabilities also," <keyword id="19981292" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mohanty" source="keywords">Mohanty</keyword> said. Asked about the Budget wishlist, he said the move to raise the assured return under the Atal pension plan continues to be on the 'wishlist'. However, he declined to comment if the <keyword id="19906106" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="interim-budget" source="keywords">Interim Budget</keyword> may take up the issue. Finance Minister <keyword id="19916618" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nirmala-sitharaman" source="keywords">Nirmala Sitharaman</keyword> will present the Interim Budget for 2024-25 on February 1. The pension fund regulatory body was considering raising the current return of Rs 1,000-5,000 to Rs 2,500-7,500. The chairman of the pension authority also said that few states who have issued notification to pull out of the National Pension System continued to contribute to the plan irrespective of the on-paper withdrawal. However, he did not wish to identify the states.

And these shorter ads are getting better if a report by marketing analytics company Kantar is to be believed. As of 2022, 17% of the shorter ads that were tested, cleared the threshold for creativity and effectiveness— as opposed to 7% a year earlier. The rampant popularity of short form video content has made it tougher for advertisers to keep it sharp and singular with vivid dramatisations. <keyword id="169310" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="digital-advertising" source="Orion">Digital advertising</keyword> is growing but those ads that are customised to the platforms are the ones which do better, Soumya Mohanty, managing director and chief client officer at Kantar, tells Business Insider India. Content can be the same, but it has to be customised. “Earlier, a TV ad used to be put online – that’s changing. It has to be customised to the platform, but the challenge is to do so in a way without losing coherence. When I see an ad on FB (Facebook) or YouTube, they turn out to be totally different and that doesn’t help, so integration has to be there,” Mohanty says, explaining how the ad world is fast-evolving. The importance of coherence in the performance of an ad has doubled in importance since 2015, as compared to the pre-2014 era, the Kantar report says. While mediums are different, communication should be similar across TV, YouTube, OOH, print and banner videos. OOH refers to out-of-home advertising and includes billboards, posters etc. What does Bharat want? The eyeball share of ads have been suffering as the number of screens are rising, but the essence of what India wants in ads is the same, observes Kantar. “India wants stories and emotions,” says Mohanty. Then there is an emerging area of buyers who necessitate brands to customise it to their sensibilities too — Bharat. The pie of rural and small town consumers is rising. The market is seeing 2.4x faster growth in rural areas compared with urban areas across premium segments in home, personal and food &amp; beverage (F&amp;B) categories, says the Kantar report. The rural consumer wants her product first and entertainment next; and the ad message needs to be clear and simple without metaphors, and should signal cultural familiarity. “It’s not that you can’t show them an aspirational product or a lifestyle, but do not show them something they are not comfortable with,” says Mohanty. In the last few months, a lot of ads have failed both at the urban, rural and even national level. Mohanty believes that the reason for the same is low testing of ads. “It’s because people decide to go with their gut feeling instead of testing. During testing, red flag ads always get caught. And brands should never do anything that they have to take back,” Mohanty says. Kantar has assessed a multitude of ads to pick the most effective ones across categories. Hindustan Unilever won the most laurels with wins across three categories — ‘food and beverage’, ‘home care’ and ‘un-stereotype’ for Red Label, Surf Excel and Bru, respectively, for TV medium. Welspun walked away with the top honours in the digital category for its QuickDry towel ad.

Satyakam Mohanty, <keyword id="6366201" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Louis-Berger">Louis Berger</keyword> group's former vice president, was arrested on Monday for paying off Goa politicians and officials to secure implantation rights for a Rs.1,031 crore water and sewerage management project in 2010, while he was serving as the head of the international consultancy firm in India, a police official told IANS. 

	"He was arrested today (Monday) under the anti-corruption law," the official said.
 

	Mohanty's statement has also been recorded in the presence of a magistrate.
 Top officials of Louis Berger have already pleaded guilty to a New Jersey District Court to offering bribes of $3.9 million to secure contracts in countries such as India, Vietnam, Indonesia and <keyword id="6387116" type="COUNTRY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kuwait">Kuwait</keyword>. 

	While the settlement announced by the US Justice Department did not identify the politicians and officials who were offered bribes, documents revealed that $976,630 was paid in bribes during 2009-2010 to a Goa minister and other officials.
 

	Louis Berger was part of a consortium that eventually won a contract to execute a multi-billion dollar water and sewerage project funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
 Congress legislator <keyword id="54051" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Digambar-Kamat">Digambar Kamat</keyword>, who was chief minister in 2010 has already been questioned, along with former Public Works Department minister <keyword id="69673" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Churchill-Alemao">Churchill Alemao</keyword>, who served in the Kamat cabinet at the time. Mohanty is the second person arrested in connection with the scam. Last week, JICA project director <keyword id="2966483" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Anand-Wachasundar">Anand Wachasundar</keyword> was arrested in the bribery case.

Louis Berger’s former president arrested on bribe charges

Mumbai, Mar 4 () Sebi is "internally assessing" the potential impact of the coronavirus epidemic on the capital markets, its Whole-Time Member S K Mohanty said on Wednesday. He, however, said the Financial Sector Development Council (FSDC), an apex body of regulators formed by the government, is yet to get involved in the discussions. The comments come a day after the action by central banks across the world, including a surprise 50 basis points cut in rates by the US Federal Reserve. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Tuesday also came out with a statement assuring the markets of all help. "Sebi is aware of coronavirus and the possible impact that it can have on the market. We are taking the necessary steps," Mohanty told reporters here. "We have seen the RBI statement; we are aware of it. Whatever has to be done, has to be done. We are internally assessing the situation," he added. When asked if the issue has been discussed at FSDC, he said, "Not yet". Addressing a capital markets summit organised by industry lobby Assocham earlier, Mohanty said Sebi has taken up the contentious issue of taxation on real estate investment trusts (REITs) and infrastructure investment trusts (InvITs) with the government. The Budget 2020-21 has provisions for changing the dividend distribution tax (DDT) for REITs and InvITs, which was seen as a dampener by the industry. "The taxation part is not in the hands of Sebi but we have taken it up with the government. Let's hope for the best," he said. "If that (change or amendment) happens, if we stick to the taxation incentive to REITs and InvITs given in 2016, if that is restored, then definitely India will get billions of dollars which will help our economy in a great way," he said. Speaking to reporters later, realtor Niranjan Hiranandani, who also chairs Assocham, welcomed the Sebi efforts. In 2019, India was able to get USD 20 billion in investments through the REITs and InvIT flows and the industry was expecting the same to go up to USD 30 billion in 2020, he said warning that continuing with the Budget provisions will adversely affect capital inflows into the country. The government is proposing to tax dividends at the hand of unit holders and there are concerns on double taxation as well, which have collectively put a question mark over the future of the business trusts' existing investments and also future plans. Mohanty said that so far, Sebi has been very supportive of the business trusts. Meanwhile, Mohanty also rued that there is a greater reliance on the "opaque" private markets for capital-raising, and also warned that such a trend does not bode well for the USD 5-trillion GDP target. He said there has been only a 1 per cent rise in the number of listed firms in India over the last three years, which he termed as "not a good sign.'' There is a "burden of compliances and disclosures" once a company opts for listing, while no such requirements are mandated if it continues as a private concern, which may be harm interests to list, he said. Even within the public issues, 80 per cent are offer-for-sales and not proposals for fresh capital-raising, he said. AA HRS

Jabong, the online fashion portal, has decided to discontinue several low-margin brands from its online platform, which includes three-fourth of its private labels. This is being done so that it can trim losses while positioning itself as a platform only for premium lifestyle products. 
 
A unit of German e-commerce incubator <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Rocket-Internet-invests-300-million-Euros-in-Jabongs-parent-company-GFG/articleshow/52075838.cms">Rocket Internet</a>, Jabong will now focus only on top 200-300 brands, as per a top company executive. 
 
"We had spread ourselves too thin and now we are shrinking our portfolio," Sanjeev Mohanty was quoted saying. Mohanty, who was earlier associated with Italian fashion brand Benetton, had joined Jabong as its MD six months ago. "We are sharpening our positioning and opting out of lower price point brands and labels," he added. 
 
Jabong had managed to reduce its losses to about a third in 2015, and brought it down to Rs 46.7 crore from a year ago, however, sales growth were slowed down to 7% at Rs 869 crore.

Coca-Cola launches its new ‘Thanda’ campaign with actors Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter

Paris, June 24 (IANS) European IT consulting company Atos on Wednesday announced to acquire Paladion, a US-based global provider of managed security services, for an undisclosed sum to enhance its global cybersecurity services. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, Paladion was founded in 2000 and has since grown to more than 800 employees and cybersecurity experts worldwide with more than $29m turnover in 2019. Led by CEO Rajat Mohanty, the company combines its cyber security specialists with proprietary Managed Detection &amp; Response (MDR) platform and Atos global Security Operations Centers (SOCs) to deliver faster security outcomes. The Paladion security delivery centres in the US, Middle East and India will join the wide network of Atos SOCs and benefit from Atos' unique go-to-market strategies. "Their cloud-native technology will be an asset for our expansion strategies in cybersecurity and cloud solutions, providing our customers with accelerated business transformation." says Pierre Barnabe, Senior Executive Vice-President, Head of Big Data &amp; Cybersecurity at Atos. The acquisition, expected to close in Q4 this year, will bring MDR capabilities to the Atos portfolio. "We believe this is an industry-defining deal, combining the scale and resources of Atos in managed security services with Paladion's cloud-delivered managed detection and response technology," said Mohanty. And it is confident it will come out of the current crisis even stronger.</li><li>We talk to Sanjeev Mohanty, MD – South Asia, Middle East &amp; North Africa, <keyword id="163329" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Levi-Strauss-Co">Levi Strauss &amp; Co</keyword> who tells us what the brand has been doing to minimize business impact and how it is adapting and preparing for a new retail experience for the post-Covid world.</li></ul>As lockdown norms are slowly getting relaxed across the country and malls and showrooms are slowly opening up, people are feeling a semblance of normalcy. While the last couple of months have been difficult for businesses across the spectrum, people are now working on strategies to minimize the impact. For retail brands, things will be very different. With a lot of safety guidelines in place, players will need to wait and watch how consumers behave in the post-Covid world. There is still a lot of uncertainty about when people will finally feel confident about visiting physical stores. So in such a scenario, how are retail brands preparing for this uncertain future? We recently caught up with Sanjeev Mohanty, MD – South Asia, Middle East &amp; North Africa, Levi Strauss &amp; Co who has been heading the 167-year-old brand in India. We tried to understand how the brand has been handling the crisis and how they are preparing for a changed world. He also talks to us about Levi’s’ recent Circles campaign and how it was aimed at spreading a sense of togetherness at a time when we have lost that personal touch with people. Excerpts: Q) Levi’s Circles campaign has been gaining a lot of traction on social media, thanks to a lot of known social media influencers being a part of the campaign. How important are influencers in your entire marketing mix? How did your marketing mix evolve during the lockdown months? COVID-19 has changed the world around us and, due to lockdowns or social distancing, in a way we have lost our sense of togetherness. It reminded us of our Circles campaign which we released back in 2017, a campaign that celebrated our human connection. The campaign was a reminder that our differences unite us and if we hold on to all that we share in common, we can find our way back to each other. We’ve adjusted the message slightly for this new moment. We felt it would ignite hope and show the strength of human connections and to bring people to believe that One Day Soon We Will All Dance Together Again. Our fans are spending more time online amidst the lockdown and that is where we wanted the conversations to happen. We are hopeful that the campaign will be well received. Q) The world as we knew it has perhaps changed forever. The post-COVID world will be very different, and so will be the consumer’s expectations from different brands that have been a part of their lives. As a brand, how are you prepping up to meet these uncertain expectations of the future? Will you focus more on your online presence now considering demand on e-commerce sites might get a larger push? As we continue to work hard to stay connected digitally — we have started the next phase, reconnecting and the reopening of our stores. We are rolling out new processes and social distancing and cleaning policies across all our stores. We are seeing a great response on e-commerce and our recent launch Levi’s® X SuperMario™ has been a hit, our fans have loved it. Every crisis is an opportunity and we are taking this time to accelerate our e-commerce capability. Q) What kind of changes do you anticipate in the retail world once the lockdown is called off completely? There will be significant changes to the landscape and every day is an opportunity to learn, to adjust, to adapt and then to learn again the next day. As we reopen, it won’t be “business as usual.” Shopping and buying behaviors will be different, and the full impact on retail is still a big unknown. That’s why we’re accelerating our efforts to becoming a leading, world-class omni-channel retailer. It will be on us to continue to evolve to meet consumers where they are, while continuing to deliver products that are stylish, built to last and sustainably made. Q) What is your contingency plan for the possible revival of the business in the post-COVID world? We have seen situations of extreme distress and have made it out because we have been financially disciplined, and we are geared up to do it again. While E-commerce will play a larger role now, we are constantly learning and adapting, doubling down on things that are working for us. Q) How do you anticipate consumer behavior will change, and how are you working towards embracing that change and working around it? The brands that are going to win are going to be the ones that have deep connections with consumers. We are making sure our stores are clean and focusing on ensuring that our consumers feel safe while shopping. Our staff has been prepared to wear masks and gloves and we ask that you wear face coverings when you come to shop with us so that everyone can enjoy a safe environment. Our stores are cleaned more frequently, and high trafficked areas are cleaned more deeply. Fitting rooms are one area that we pay particular attention to cleaning thoroughly and often. We are taking all the precautions and implementing tools for contactless payment. We will limit the number of people in our stores based on local guidelines and are using a quarantine process for items that shoppers try on before being returned to the sales floor. We are also depending a lot on technology, implementing tools for contactless billing, etc. to ensure that our fans feel safe shopping in our stores. Q) As one leading the organization, what were your top priorities during these last few months of the lockdown? What were the key lessons you learned from the experience? Our main priority is to keep our employees and our consumers safe. The pandemic has hit us all hard, but we believe that every crisis is an opportunity and with a strong brand, right processes and an outstanding management team ready to take of the challenge and has shown tremendous courage and resilience, we are confident we will emerge stronger. Q) How will you use marketing as a tool to bring consumers back to the brand? Will you use traditional media channels or become more digital-heavy? We have always endeavored to be where our fans are and over the last few months, owing to the numerous restrictions, we maintained a close digital connection with our audience. The focus is on being agile, respond to situations quickly, and most important being relevant to our fans. For instance, on May 20, we celebrated the birthday of the blue jean i.e. 501 Day online and realized that the 501 Live music program, entertainment, and interviews from some of our favorite artists brought a lot of joy. We also saw some of our fans and brand friends posting pictures from our past 501® Day events reminding us that the love for the brand is still strong.

The prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology want their students to start accepting internship offers from prospective employers, so that they can maximise the number of students who get placed by the time of the final placements season in December. 
 
Every year, almost 5 to 15% of IIT students are left without any job offers. 
 "Internship is a natural step for all the <keyword id="49737" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="IITs">IITs</keyword>. This will make room for more students in the final placement season," Debasis Deb, chairman of <keyword id="6364832" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="IIT-Kharagpur">IIT Kharagpur</keyword>'s Career Development Centre told ET.

Most IITs are to begin the PPOs season in a few weeks. 
 Adding that most IITs barely have 80% placements, Kaustubha Mohanty, faculty member in charge of placement at <keyword id="186684" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="IIT-Guwahati">IIT Guwahati</keyword> said that, "not a single IIT has 100% success rate in placing all its students."

"Internship is a courtship route for both companies and students before deciding on job offers," said Mohanty. It also increases the chances of getting a job offer.
