<ul><li><keyword id="973" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ram-Vilas-Paswan">Ram Vilas Paswan</keyword> is once again in-charge of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.</li><li>An eight-time Lok Sabha MP, Paswan did not contest the Lok Sabha Elections this year. </li></ul>Taking oath at the 6th position during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing in ceremony, Ram Vilas Paswan returns to be a Union Cabinet Minister in the <keyword id="6360789" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Modi-government">Modi government</keyword>. In the first term of the Modi government too, Paswan held the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. Earlier in his long political tenure he has held the ministerial position for various other ministries like Chemicals and Fertilizers, Mines, Communications and Information Technology and also Ministry of Railways. Paswan is a eight-time Lok Sabha MP as well as a former Rajya Sabha MP. Paswan is the president of the Lok Janshakti Party. Paswan did not contest the Lok Sabha elections in 2019, which came as a surprising news as he has been contesting elections from 1977 (from Bihar’s Hajipur constituency). It was reported that his son Chirag Paswan, who is a MP from the Jamui constituency of Bihar could be the one to hold a ministerial position as the Modi government comes back to power for the second time. However, junior Paswan had recently denied the<a href="https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/election-results-2019-ram-vilas-paswan-countered-by-chirag-paswan-on-ministry-2044323"> reports</a> to say that he was not taking up a ministerial position in the Modi cabinet.

<ul><li><keyword id="6354886" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ravi-Shankar-Prasad">Ravi Shankar Prasad</keyword> has returned to the Modi’s Cabinet of ministers.</li><li>Prasad has retained all the ministries he had – Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and the Ministry of Law and Justice. </li></ul>Ravi Shankar Prasad returns as a Minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Cabinet. Prasad who took oath in the 9th position during the swearing-in ceremony held at the national capital, has been given all his previous ministries once again. In the first term of the Modi government, Prasad held the Minister of Electronics and Information Technology and the Minister of Law and Justice from 2016-2019. From 2014-2016, Prasad was the Minister of Communications. However, Prasad was not new to the ministerial position in 2014. During the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, he held the positions – Minister of State in the Ministry of Coal and Mines, Minister of State in the Ministry of Law and Justice and Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Prasad, who earlier held the ministerial positions from his Rajya Sabha MP seat, will this time represent Patna Sahib constituency in the Lok Sabha. This Lok Sabha elections 2019 was Prasad’s debut in the elections for the lower house of the parliament. Interestingly, even with his debut, Prasad defeated Bollywood actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha by 2.84 lakh votes. Sinha had got a ticket from the Congress party.
