In an effort to give a further boost to partnership, India, and the US signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (<keyword id="19914814" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="MoU" source="keywords">MoU</keyword>), which will enable the Micro, Small and medium enterprises (<keyword id="19910977" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="MSMEs" source="keywords">MSMEs</keyword>) of the two countries to participate in <keyword id="19908188" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="global-markets" source="keywords">global markets</keyword> and foster trade. "<keyword id="20233690" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="India-US" source="keywords">India-US</keyword> joining hands to promote cooperation in MSMEs," the official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, wrote on X. "Today, India-US signed a landmark MoU that enables MSMEs of the two countries to participate in global markets, drive innovation, foster trade, and support <keyword id="19930409" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="women-entrepreneurs" source="keywords">women entrepreneurs</keyword>," he added. S. C. L. Das, Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Isabel Casillas Guzman, Administrator, <keyword id="21149255" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="small-business-administration" source="keywords">Small Business Administration</keyword> (SBA), United States of America, signed the MoU here in New Delhi. The MoU provides a framework for both sides to discuss issues concerning micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and explore possibilities for cooperation. It envisages the exchange of expertise between the two sides on issues related to improving MSME participation in the global marketplace through mutual visits as well as webinars and workshops on topics including access to trade and export finance, technology and digital trade; green economy, and trade facilitation. The MoU also provides for the joint conduct of programmes for women entrepreneurs to empower them and facilitate trade partnerships between women-owned small businesses in the two countries. Recognising the crucial role that MSMEs play in advancing <keyword id="20421749" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="inclusive-growth" source="keywords">inclusive growth</keyword>, expanding exports, and boosting employment, the two sides also agreed to explore the development of a "Business Matching Digital Platform" to boost <keyword id="20035864" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="business-opportunities" source="keywords">business opportunities</keyword>.

India-US join hands to promote cooperation in MSMEs

State-owned <keyword id="77463" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="power-finance-corporation" source="Orion">Power Finance Corporation</keyword> has inked an initial pact with the <keyword id="6354766" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="gujarat" source="Orion">Gujarat</keyword> government to provide comprehensive financial backing for the state's <keyword id="6380509" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="generation" source="Orion">generation</keyword>, <keyword id="67884" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="transmission" source="Orion">transmission</keyword>, and distribution projects. Power Finance Corporation (PFC) signed an <keyword id="6368586" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mou" source="Orion">MoU</keyword> with the government of Gujarat on January 3, 2024, according to a company statement issued on Wednesday. The MoU was signed by Parminder Chopra, CMD PFC and Jai Prakash Shivhare, MD (GUVNL) in the presence of Bhupendra Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat. The chief objective of this MoU is to provide comprehensive financial backing for the state's generation, transmission, and distribution projects. The MoU, signed in Gandhinagar, marks a significant step towards bolstering various projects undertaken by the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL), Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL), Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Ltd (GETCO), Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (DGVCL), Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (MGVCL), Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (PGVCL), and Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (UGVCL). The collaboration is set to facilitate long-term debt and other critical funding necessities vital for executing these diverse projects. Under the terms of the MoU, the envisaged financial assistance stands at an impressive Rs 25,000 crore, dedicated to powering up various projects across Gujarat, it stated. This substantial financial commitment underscores PFC's steadfast commitment to bolstering the power infrastructure in the region and supporting the state's ambitious initiatives in the power sector. Apart from facilitating the expansion of power infrastructure, the MoU shall also help create employment generation of up to 10,000 in Gujarat.

Pure electric mid-sized SUVs for international markets are to be launched from 2025 onwards, according to a release from Tata Motors. The electric cars, based on the Avinya concept, will now be developed on JLR's Electrified Modular Architecture in exchange for a royalty fee, according to the press release issued on Thursday. "Avinya stands for 'Innovation' and represents our vision for a new paradigm in personal mobility. Being built on an architecture that is equipped with the latest advances in new-age technology, software and artificial intelligence, Avinya will spawn a new breed of world-class EVs, with global standards in efficiency and range. We are delighted to collaborate on the EMA platform with JLR for actualizing this vision," Anand Kulkarni, Chief Product Officer and Head HV Programmes, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility. Industrial production grows 2.4 pc in July

The Tamil Nadu government has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with 59 companies, which will lead to investments worth Rs 35,208 crore coming into the state. The deals were signed during an investors' meet at Coimbatore, which was presided over by Chief Minister M.K. <keyword id="60930" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="stalin" source="Orion">Stalin</keyword>. Agreements have been inked with seven companies in the fields of aerospace and defence system manufacturing, and an investment of Rs 485 crore is expected to be generated through this. Stalin said that the deals are an indication that Tamil Nadu is on the right path to become a trillion-dollar economy. He said that despite the challenges of Covid-19 and natural clamaities like rain and its related issues, it is a great moment for Tamil Nadu to attract the investments. The Chief Minister said that it was the third industrial conference in five months, which is a sign of the state government's efforts to promote industrial investment and growth. Stalin also laid the foundation for 13 projects worth Rs 13,413 crore, besides launching commercial production in 10 projects worth Rs 3928 crore. Government officials said that 92,420 people would get employment through these projects. Stalin said that the government is aiming to make the state the fintech capital of the country, as he released a fintech policy. Stalin also released a handbook on aerospace and defence systems. New Delhi, <keyword id="6358032" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="SpiceJet">SpiceJet</keyword> has signed an agreement with Belgium's <keyword id="505425" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Brussels-airport">Brussels Airport</keyword> for providing seamless transportation of <keyword id="9078985" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Covid-19-Vaccines">COVID-19 vaccines</keyword>, according to an official statement issued on Tuesday. As a part of the Memorandum of Understanding (<keyword id="6368586" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="MoU">MoU</keyword>), Brussels Airport would provide assistance to SpiceJet with regards to slots, networking contracts etc. for speedy delivery of vaccines, it noted. "The airline's cargo arm, SpiceXpress, envisions to provide rapid and secure transportation of COVID-19 vaccine from and to Europe and beyond with proper temperature-controlled mechanism under the MoU," the SpiceJet's statement said. As part of this association, Brussels Airport will be SpiceJet's first flight point for Europe, it mentioned. As strategic partners, both SpiceJet and Brussels Airport Company NV will jointly work with the government, pharma companies and forwarders to ensure a reliable ecosystem for vaccine delivery in a temperature-controlled environment, it said. India started its vaccine movement from Tuesday morning when SpiceJet flight SG8937 flight transported the first consignment of COVID-19 vaccine from Pune to Delhi. Chennai, June 6 (IANS) Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Aryabhatta Research Institute (ARIES) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the field of Space Situational Awareness (SSA) and Astrophysics. Space objects' orbital tracking, analysis and space weather studies are important aspects in Space Situational Awareness and Management to safeguard Indian space assets from critical conjunction threats like space debris. Future endeavours in space exploration depends on research and development (R&amp;D) in astrophysics, solar sciences, and space environment. Self-reliance in these areas is key to the progress of Indian space arena. This MoU will pave the way for future collaborations between ISRO and ARIES in establishing optical telescope observational facilities for space object tracking, R&amp;D studies in space weather, astrophysics, and Near Earth Object (NEO). AVP signs MoU with CCRAS for multi centric clinical trial on

New Delhi, Jan 28 () Domestic traders body CAIT on Tuesday "strongly condemned" the decision of the Gujarat government for a pact between Gujarat State Handloom and Handicrafts Development Cooperation Ltd (GSHHDC) and e-commerce firm Flipkart.
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) in a statement said it "strongly condemned the decision of the Gujarat government announcing" this memorandum of understanding (MoU).
CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said that it is "extremely unfortunate and regrettable" that on one hand Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has publicly expressed his concerns for the "unethical and unlawful business practices being carried out on Flipkart, and on the other hand Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has joined hands with Flipkart". 
He said this decision not only contradicts and conflicts with the Centre's stand but it also hurts the sentiments of seven crore.
This action by the chief minister also shows his "insensitivity and indifference" to the small retailers of Gujarat who are involved in a nationwide agitation against Flipkart's business model.
E-commerce major Flipkart on Monday said it has signed a MoU with GSHHDC for promotion of local handicrafts.
The agreement is part of Flipkart's Samarth initiative under which the Walmart-backed company is helping artisans, weavers and craftsmen set up their business on the Flipkart Marketplace. RR CS
