The nomination and remuneration committee has extended the tenure of Gurnani till December 19, 2023 as it looks to work on the succession plan of Gurnani. Gurnani said that the succession plan will be finalised by the committee as per the corporate governance norms of the company. "I've done the same business for a very long time. I became a CXO at the age of 38 and am now stepping down at the age of 65. All I'm trying to say is that I've been a playing captain for a very long time. I will become a coach. I will no longer be a playing captain," Gurnani said. One of the longest serving CEOs in the technology sector, Gurnani told PTI that would like to see the other side of the world and pursue things that are close to his heart. "I have been one of the longest serving CEOs of the technology sector. I think it is fair that I get to see what the other side of the world looks like and I'm not talking about travel. I'm talking about a few things that I've always wanted to do in life. It is also good for the corporation that we get a new leader because a bit of rotation is like getting more oxygen into the system," Gurnani said. While talking about business, Gurnani said Tech Mahindra will continue to deepen its presence in Japan and Europe and look at opening delivery centres closer to the home of its employees. "I have always been a very big admirer of Japan, I will continue to create much deeper business interest in Japan. Frankly, I think Europe is a big opportunity now. Because overall Europe has felt the impact of the war. "The war has been closest to them. Every individual in Europe has paid a price by inflation and higher energy bills. I believe that some of our cost transformation initiatives would be very helpful to European clients. So, my focus will be Japan and Europe," he said. Gurnani said that the technology sector has matured and they have continued to serve their consumers, businesses, enterprises and corporates around the world by not taking a position. "The only area where there has been some conversations is there organizations which are using cyber attacks as a weapon," Gurnani said but declined to reveal further details. When asked about a broad strategic action plan that the company is planning to put in place this year, Gurani said that Tech Mahindra will look at distributing delivery centres across the country and near to the homes of its employees. "We continue to make technological investments in the future of technology. Right now it is AI, cloud, metaverse and we have already started investing in quantum computing. We want to be ahead of the curve. There are some of our products which I think will be able to commercialize them a lot better," Gurnani said. Kolkata, Feb 1 (PTI) Terming the union budget presented in Parliament on Tuesday as a "Pegasus spin budget", West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said it has got nothing for the common people who are being crushed by inflation and unemployment. Banerjee's principal chief advisor Amit Mitra claimed there is no direction for financial growth in the union budget and it is "either a hoax or lack of goodwill". The opposition BJP supported the Union budget as "pro-people" and asked the TMC government to come out with a white paper on the amount of investment that has materialised in the state in the last ten years. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presenting the union budget in Parliament said the country's economic growth is expected to be at 9.2 per cent in the current financial year on the back of a sharp rebound in the economy. Criticising the budget, Banerjee said the Centre was lost in "big words signifying nothing". "BUDGET HAS ZERO FOR COMMON PEOPLE, WHO ARE GETTING CRUSHED BY UNEMPLOYMENT &amp; INFLATION. Mitra, who was addressing a virtual press conference, said India is the only country globally with stagflation and the union budget will hit rural employment further with the reduction in allocation for the job guarantee scheme. "There is no allocation for social security schemes. The biggest thing is that there is no solution for middle class employees in the budget. 1.20 crore middle class people lost their jobs in lockdown. What is allocated for them in the budget? What is allocated in the budget for the families of those who lost their lives due to COVID? There is nothing." he said. Mitra, a former finance minister of the state, said there is no direction of financial growth in this union budget. "The income tax structure remains unchanged. There is nothing for the poor and middle class. The Centre's budget is either a hoax or a lack of goodwill," he said. Mitra said the amount allocated for 100 days work had been reduced from Rs 98,000 crore to Rs 73,000 crore in this year's budget, which is a "terrible thing". The budget does not address the problem of 30 million unemployed people or inflation of 14 per cent of wholesale prices or 6 per cent of the increase in consumer prices. "It does not stimulate demand by putting money in the hands of the common people - something that all other countries are doing," he said. The BJP on the other hand accused Mitra and the TMC government of destroying the state's economy. "The union budget is a pro-people budget. The TMC has opposed it for political reasons. But before opposing it, TMC should answer why Bengal has been pushed to a debt trap. It should come out with a white paper on the investment the state has received and those which has been implemented on the ground," BJP state spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya said. Businesses witnessed slowdowns and many are still on their way to recovery - slowly but steadily. However, the watches and wearables division of the Titan Company started seeing recovery from Q2 and Suparna Mitra, Chief Executive Officer, Watches and Wearables Division, at Titan Company Limited is confident that the business will enter its growth phase in Q1 FY22. Titan Company, despite being a <keyword id="10974561" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="legacy-brand">legacy brand</keyword>, has over the years, focused on innovation and creating products that are relevant to the changing consumer needs. It has listened to its consumers while crafting its products and that has helped the brand stay ahead of the curve. In its Q3 results for FY20-21, the Titan Company stated that its Watches and Wearables division witnessed around 88% recovery and things are only looking up. Consumer demand in fashion accessories started picking up steadily from Q2 onward, and we saw a good recovery during the festive season. We introduced a lot of new collections in the wearables space to tap into the newer consumer trends. We launched Titan Pay – the first payment watch of India, in association with State Bank of India, to cater to the growing need for contactless payments. We also launched our first full touch smartwatch – Titan Connected X, to cater to the demand for smartwatches with a contemporary stylish look, and this was very well received by the market. More recently, we launched TraQ by Titan, a performance tracking device and app targeted at thousands of people who have taken up active sports such as running, cycling and swimming. Even before the pandemic, we were seeing an increasing number of Indians take up such activities, aiming for a healthy and active lifestyle. The pandemic only accentuated this trend, with even more people adopting these activities towards fitness. We had also noticed that this segment was under-served. The options for performance tracking were limited, not widely available, and sometimes not very affordable. In our experience so far, we’ve seen a good recovery across our business and that’s largely true for the overall fashion accessories category as well. We realized that while people were locked down, they were feeling a lot of emotions towards their loved ones and all the missed milestones such as graduations, birthdays, anniversaries, new jobs, etc, that they were not able to celebrate. We used that for the Titan Gift a Smile campaign, exhorting people to reach out and thank loved ones with a gift. We also witnessed a rise in our average price points by a significant margin during this time, as gifting as a purchase trigger started working well for us. We also did a campaign called ‘Let's Get India Ticking’. It was not a watch campaign, but a category agnostic, brand agnostic campaign about getting consumption back. While WFH is a new phenomenon, and is likely to stay in some form, we see that watches as an accessory continues to see strong traction. The need for dressing up and looking good continues to be relevant and will be even stronger for festive occasions/celebrations. We conducted thousands of empathy calls to our customers across all stores in our network to check on their well-being. We also initiated several consumer engagement activities through our social media handles. We also created thoughtful campaigns around special occasions such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day to communicate our sentiments and spread the message of hope and positivity that together, we will soonovercome these testing times. When the markets started opening up after the lockdown, gifting - which is a strong platform for watches, got an additional push as the idea of “self-gifting” became popular. Consumers were looking forward to rewarding themselves for having coped with the lockdown. They were also looking to celebrate important milestones that they had missed out on during the lockdown. The company curated “Gift a Titan Smile” initiative with an attempt to revive sales. Online has always been a big part of sales and we are doing a lot of digital <keyword id="6354839" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="marketing">marketing</keyword> activities. Kolkata, Feb 25 () West Bengal Finance MinisterAmit Mitra on Tuesday said suspicious transactions relating toGST is going up, while Rs 46,000 crore is yet to be recoveredfrom penal interest charges arising out of delayed GSTR III-Bfiling.Speaking at a CII event here, Mitra said thegovernment has gone on record in Parliament stating thatfraudulent transactions to the tune of Rs 44,000 crore hastaken place as traders failed to upload invoices."The GST was implemented in a haste without doing anybeta testing. This has resulted in fraudulent transactionstaking place across the country. Suspicious transactions arealso going up," Mitra said.He said there has been an unrecovered amount of Rs46,000 crore on account of penal interest due to delayedGSTR-III-B filing by traders.Mitra said owing to Centre's low tax collection, WestBengal will stand to lose Rs 11,000 crore which will be aheavy blow on the state's finances.The minister alleged that the Centre has been steadilyincreasing cess and surcharges which are not passed on to thestates."From 2013-14 till now, the Centre has raised cessfrom six per cent to 18 per cent," he said.On the country's economic situation, Mitra said in theGlobal Democracy Index compiled by The Economist magazine,India's ranking has dropped by 10 places to 51st in the world.As per the Global Social Mobility Index prepared byWEF, India's position is 76th among 82 countries."These are very disturbing signals as these areimportant for sustaining investors' confidence," Mitra said.Mitra said India's GDP growth is the lowest in 11years, employment is the lowest in 45 years while core sectorslike coal, steel and cement have posted negative growth rates.In contrast, Mitra said, West Bengal's growth ratewas double that of the national average with better industrialgrowth."In fact, the country is passing through a period ofstagflation, high inflation coupled with low growth", he said. dcNN NN

New Delhi, May 7 () For over 34,000 employees of the country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), an in-house developed Wellness Mitra App has been acting as the guardian angel to assist them over the past two weeks as coronavirus pandemic rages on.The app that complements the Aarogya Setu App has been made mandatory for all employees across the value chain, requiring them to update their health status, including close family members, on the app everyday, according to the company.It has been developed to ensure safety and monitor employees' health on a real time basis, while a 'COVID-19 Task Force' has also been set up to ensure that all health and safety advisories are followed by the employees, it added.Commenting on the steps taken by the company to ensure safety of its employees, Maruti Suzuki India Member Executive Board (HR, IT and Safety) Rajesh Uppal said, "We are passing through an unprecedented global health crisis. Employees' safety is our top priority and we have developed the Wellness Mitra application that complements the Aarogya Setu App".The Aarogya Setu app helps in contact tracing and sends alert about COVID-19 positive cases in the vicinity, he said, adding "with the use of technology, we are monitoring health of all our employees on a real time basis"."The Wellness Mitra App has been developed in-house and it helps maintain the health log sheet of employees across all our locations in the country. It not just helps us to monitor well-being of employees but they can also seek help in case of any emergency through the app," Uppal further said.As the company gears up to resume operations both at its Manesar plant and in offices where relaxations are applicable, monitoring through the app. MSI is allowing employees who report good health for at least 14 consecutive days to come to work.Among the precautions, every MSI employees are required to record body temperature on the app every day and at the same time they can also can seek emergency medical support if required with help promptly extended by the company's rapid action task force.Questions such as if an employee has symptoms of fever, cough, difficulty in breathing, loss of smell, loss of taste, diarrhoea are asked in the Wellness Mitra App and details are closely monitored by reporting managers, across all locations/states in India.It also checks if there are any COVID-19 positive cases in employees' vicinity, while also periodically broadcasting the government guidelines of dos and don'ts.In addition, the company said it has also set up a 24x7 help desk to address any concerns and questions of employees.Maruti Suzuki India said it has also developed a similar app for its dealer and vendor partners to cover entire value chain. Kolkata, May 13 () West Bengal Finance ministerAmit Mitra on Wednesday accused the Centre of misleadingpeople over the announced Rs 20 lakh crore special package,saying that the actual dole is about 2 per cent of thecountry's GDP.In a big push to revive the economy, Prime MinisterNarendra Modi on Tuesday announced a Rs 20 lakh crore package,which combined the government's recent announcements onsupporting key sectors as also measures rolled out by theReserve Bank of India.About the financial package, the prime minister hadsaid it will be around 10 per cent of the GDP and will addressproblems of a wide range of sectors as well as difficulties ofmigrant workers."People must know the truth and the Centre's actualnew announcement is just Rs 4.2 lakh crore or 2 per cent ofGDP," Mitra said after Union Finance minister NirmalaSitharaman unveiled a major booster dose on Wednesday.Mitra said, the previous interventions by the Centralbank and the Union Finance ministry amounting to Rs 10 lakhcrore are included in the Rs 20 lakh crore package, believedto be a blockbuster stimulus.The RBI in four tranches since February 6, had infusedRs 8 lakh crore of liquidity into the financial system.Sitharaman had, earlier, announced a Rs 1.7 lakh croresupport."The government has set a borrowing limit of Rs 4.2lakh crore. Third-party cookies, specifically, are the ones that are set by an alternative site, other than the one you are on including a third-party video provider, social channel, or ad platform. When a publisher or site strikes a partnership with one of these businesses, they add a line of code to their site. Cookies help create user profiles, which provide detailed information on the sites you visit and the journey of what you do during your browsing time. This gives advertisers key insights into your interests and preferences, allowing them to deliver a more targeted advertising experience. Google’s Chrome browser makes up 69% and 40% respectively, of desktop and mobile browser share — accounting for more than half of the overall web traffic. The bottom line? Anyone with a website, including brands, agencies, and publishers, will be affected by the move. While some may argue this was an inevitable move, this doesn’t change its significance and the impact it will have today, and in the years ahead. In the short term, marketers lose an instrumental method they currently use to target many of their customers. In the long-term, they must find a more sustainable solution that is more direct and personal to the consumer. One way to achieve this is by seeking out and relying on first-party data from owned audiences. The other, and what would be much more complicated to navigate, is building better relationships with customers and the media they consume. Moreover, many experts predict that the real winners will be walled gardens like Google, Facebook, and Amazon, who now stand alone in their ability to provide a high degree of targeting at scale. The trend toward a cookie-less web impacts publishers and third-party ad-tech platforms the most, since this will require them to sell and serve ads in new ways. Digital publishing was already under pressure as ad budgets have shifted from their owned and operated properties to the big platforms. Some publishers, like The New York Times, have had success by refocusing their efforts on driving digital subscriptions. In short, we can expect a greater emphasis on one-to-one relationships that are personalized and relevant — but this won’t come without some obstacles and the likely continued flow of ad budgets to the big platforms.
