A new version of Volkswagen’s premium <keyword id="43820" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hatchback">hatchback</keyword> <keyword id="6390174" type="SPORT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Polo">Polo</keyword> has been launched to enhance the driving comfort for the customers. The new car is priced between Rs 5.24 lakh and Rs 8.42 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). <keyword id="166267" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Volkswagen-Group">Volkswagen Group</keyword> Sales India Director (Volkswagen Passenger Cars) <keyword id="1330635" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Michael-Mayer">Michael Mayer</keyword> said the company is confident that the introduction of new features in Polo in this festive season will appeal to discerning car buyers across the country.

Volkswagen launches new version of Polo to enhance driving experience

In order to enhance its presence in the <keyword id="47445" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-market">Indian market</keyword>, German auto major <keyword id="6361865" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Volkswagen">Volkswagen</keyword> is prepping up to widen its portfolio of products, which includes the iconic <keyword id="61548" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Beetle">Beetle</keyword> and its popular <keyword id="2914338" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="SUV-Tiguan">SUV Tiguan</keyword>. 
 An Economic Times report mentions that the <keyword id="2498183" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="automobile-manufacturer">automobile manufacturer</keyword> started the programme with the launch of a new version of its mid-sized sedan <keyword id="164573" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="vento">Vento</keyword>, priced between Rs 7.85 lakh and Rs 11.87 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). 
 <keyword id="1330635" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Michael-Mayer">Michael Mayer</keyword>, director of Volkswagen <keyword id="150905" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="passenger-cars">Passenger Cars</keyword>, told reporters in New Delhi, "India is an important mark for Volkswagen. In the next 24 months we plan to launch five products." He further added that the company plans to enter new segments with the launches. 
 
"We will be launching a sub-4 meter compact sedan next year. We also plan to bring Beetle into India. These launches will widen our product portfolio and enhance our presence in the country," said Mayer. 
 Further, the company plans to launch the 8th generation of <keyword id="134042" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Passat">Passat</keyword> sedan and brand new sports utility vehicle Tiguan, he added. 
 
Talking about the newly launched Volkswagen Vento, Mayer said: "The Vento has always been among our best received products in the market and with the changes made...we are confident that the product will continue to appeal to our customers." The new Vento comes in both petrol and diesel engines. 
 
According to the financial daily, besides expanding its product portfolio, Volkswagen is also planning to make India a low-cost manufacturing hub, which will cater to emerging and developed markets. 
 
The company also plans to increase the production capacity at the Chakan and Aurangabad units in the next two years. If we believe the reports, by 2018, the German carmaker is considering increasing its production to two lakh units.

​Volkswagen to soon launch Beetle and its SUV Tiguan in India

German auto major <keyword id="6361865" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Volkswagen">Volkswagen</keyword> will soon launch its utility vehicles in India. According to an ET report, the brand’s India office has been regularly sending feedback to its head office in Germany about the utility vehicles that are being built on the company’s multibillion-dolliar modular platform, MQB/MLB. 
 
The report also suggested that the brand’s new Polo and Vento will be manufactured in India and their launch plans are yet to be finalized. However, the new range of models are expected to hit the market by 2018. The company is also mulling to launch its sports and multi-utility vehicles in the country as well. 
 
The company may also consider to develop India as its manufacturing hub for its exports. As per the report, the company has sent its executives to work closely with the product team, offering engineering feedback in order to customize the models for India and other export markets. 
 
It should be noted that the German car maker had exhibited its Taigun compact SUV at the auto expo last year. The company now aims to sync its India products with those for the global platforms, which have moved towards hi-tech modular platforms. 
 "We are focusing on the segments which we haven't cleared so far and this is an intensive programme that we are running through this year to make these decisions," Mayer said. "I am giving that input to the board, two-three times a year. Board is very receptive to that, as the decision has to be made,” said <keyword id="1330635" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Michael-Mayer">Michael Mayer</keyword>, brand director of <keyword id="159682" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Volkswagen-India">Volkswagen India</keyword> in the report. 
 
He added that apart from clocking in good sales number and maintaining customer satisfaction, he is also responsible for sending inputs on the Indian market to his headquarters. 
 Interestingly, other auto makers have also been prepping up for launching their utility vehicle portfolio in India. Some of these brands include <keyword id="6374528" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Toyota">Toyota</keyword>, <keyword id="20630" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Honda">Honda</keyword>, <keyword id="44883" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki">Maruti Suzuki</keyword>, Hyundai and <keyword id="42747" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Motors">Tata Motors</keyword>. Currently, the utility vehicle segment in India comprises a fifth of the overall auto market and grew at 10.82% at the end of FY 15.

Volkswagen to launch utility vehicles soon in India

German carmaker <keyword id="6361865" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Volkswagen">Volkswagen</keyword> plans to invest Rs 1,500 crore in India over the next six years as it looks to consolidate its position in the country by developing new products. 
 "India is a strategic market for us and we are looking at investing here in a systematic manner. Over the period of next five to six years we intend to invest Rs 1,500 crore on activities like enhancing localisation and new products," Volkswagen India President &amp; MD <keyword id="1932964" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Mahesh-Kodumudi">Mahesh Kodumudi</keyword> said. 
 
The company is also mulling making engines in India but it hasn't arrived on a decision yet, he said. He added that Maharashtra would be the company's first choice for setting up the engine plant. At present, the company imports the engines used in its cars in India. 
 
"Currently our localisation levels here are around 65-70% in value terms and going ahead our objective is to take it to 85-90%. We can achieve it by localising production of engines and gearbox and we are working on it," said Kodumudi. 
 "In India, compact sports utility vehicle and compact sedan segment is growing and we are looking at it. Also, with the increase in income levels in the country people are also looking at higher segments as well so that's another area of interest for us," Volkswagen passenger cars director <keyword id="1330635" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Michael-Mayer">Michael Mayer</keyword> said. 
 
"If we look at Indian car market, we are not present in segments which are showing growth. New Polo will allow us to increase our market share in the compact hatchback segment," Mayer added.

German automaker <keyword id="6361865" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Volkswagen" source="Orion">Volkswagen</keyword> will kick off its electrification journey in India with the launch of its electric car ID.4 later this year as part of its global efforts of mass electrification, a senior company official said on Thursday. The company, which unveiled the ID.4, expects the Indian passenger vehicles market to grow 5-7 per cent this year while it is targeting 10-15 per cent growth for itself. "Our first step to the electrification journey in India begins with the ID.4...," Executive Director Sales International Operations, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Michael Mayer said here at the Volkswagen annual brand conference. He said the ID.4 is being brought in as part of the company's global efforts of mass electrification. It will be launched in the Indian market later this year. Globally, VW is leading in the electrification journey, he said, adding, as part of the company's commitment to the Paris Climate Agreement 2030, it is continuing efforts in various spheres, including the development of charging infrastructure that's key to acceptance of EVs, recycling of batteries, digitalisation and connectivity solutions. The company is offering different products from ID.2 to ID.Buzz globally targeting several segments of customers, Mayer said, adding that globally, VW's electric vehicle (EV) sales grew 21 per cent at around 4 lakh units in 2023. "This is not the end of the story. It is our goal to take this success to other markets," Mayer said. However, he added, "This would be a phased approach, wherein we will strengthen our current portfolio on the basis of brand positioning for the market." "India, needless to say, continues to be a key market for Volkswagen. India is a 4 million car market now and is expected to grow 5-7 per cent this year," he asserted. The Indian automotive industry is now ranked third in the world even surpassing Japan, Mayer said, adding, "Who would have thought it ten years back?" He said VW is committed to the Indian market and the company will continue to introduce its premium products over the next few years. Volkswagen Passenger Cars India Brand Director Ashish Gupta said the company's sales grew 8 per cent in 2023. The company had sold around 44,000 units. "Our target this year in 2024 is to increase it by 10-15 per cent," he added. The company will continue to expand its sales and service network to tap opportunities coming from Tier II and Tier III cities. He said the company is targeting to have a presence in 170 cities with 230 sales and pre-owned car touch points along with 150 service centres in 2024. Last year, it had set up 45 sales and service touch points, he said, adding that at present, the company has 193 sales and pre-owned car sales touch points and 145 service centres in 145 cities. When Hinkle ("Once and Again," "Two and a Half Men") met the Riverside Drive dame on season one of the Emmy-winning series, the character's universe revolved around being proper, pretty, and perfect. Or, at the very least, being perceived as such. But on season four, which premiered on Prime Video in February, it's clear Rose has come a long way since then.She's made peace with her daughter Miriam "Midge" Maisel's divorce, taken a solo jaunt to Paris, relocated to Queens and back, and launched a matchmaking business so successful that her tri-state competitors have threatened war.So when series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino told Hinkle that this Rose was going to perform stand-up on the seventh episode of season four, the actress was still surprised, but slightly less than she would've been five years ago."When I got the news that I was doing it, I think for two nights — I only had the script a couple nights before — I'm not sure I slept because I was way too nervous," the actress, 55, told Insider during a recent phone interview.Below, Hinkle discusses her penultimate season as Rose, reflecting on her full-circle matchmaking career, the stand-up routine that took more than two days to capture, and the anticipatory heartbreak she's nursing ahead of the show's fifth and final season.<div type="image" title="marin hinkle rose weissman the marvelous mrs maisel" height="2453" width="3900" msid="90211727" hostid="261"></div>We kick off season four in 1960, a brand new decade. What excited you about entering this new era as Rose?All of us never were aware until we actually were given the scripts, whether or not we were going to jump time quite a bit.But seeing that it was supposedly half a night later from when we said goodbye to Miriam [on season three], it wasn't a huge mindset change. It's funny because we're like: "1960! We're a new person now!" One thing I did think that they let Rose get influenced in is her clothing. Her clothing shifted a little bit and I love that she's so on top of that. That's a mirror of who she's becoming within her work life.I have a mom who became a lawyer later in her life. She was always wearing dresses. This was in the '70s, so it was a bit later. She let herself, once she became a lawyer, start wearing pants and it changed her whole sense of self and strength. I tried to incorporate that into Rose.Once you saw her in pants, she was like, "I'm taking charge in a new way, and I've got a job. I'm going to make the money, and I'm more of a breadwinner than I've ever been. I'm not taking money from my family anymore, and my husband's not working. Or, if he's working, he's making about two cents at the Village Voice!" Her matchmaking business is so much fun to watch. It's one of my favorite parts of this season.Isn't it funny that it's not a profession that's died? If anything, it's only grown and grown in the years that we've used the internet to be able to do matchmaking. <div type="image" title="marin hinkle rose weissman the marvelous mrs maisel" height="2782" width="3900" msid="90211731" hostid="261"></div>You told <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epHixrz97TM">Entertainment Weekly</a> that you used to do some matchmaking yourself. Can you tell me about that? Did Amy Sherman-Palladino know that before writing the script?Amy and Dan [Palladino] didn't know that about my life. I've always been a person who loves incorporating different parts of my life with one another. I get such joy out of seeing one faction, whether it's college or elementary school, merge with my graduate school and merge with my professional life and my family. I had a number of people, particularly when I was in my 20s, who were like, "Isn't there someone?" There's a really extraordinary Broadway director I was working with at the time. He was bemoaning when I was auditioning for him. He was like, "Can't you set me up with a nice Jewish doctor?" I looked at him and was like, "I know one," and he was like, "Well, what are you waiting for?" I actually don't remember if I got the job, but that doesn't matter because I got out of the audition and called my great friend who was a nice, extraordinary Jewish doctor. Kind of like Benjamin was in our show!I matched him up with this really prominent theater director. They called one another pretty quickly and have been together ever since.Wow! What a track record.It's Michael Mayer, the Broadway director who's directing "Funny Girl." He was the one who brought it up, and then his now-husband is someone I knew from Brown. I've done that for a couple friends. <div type="image" title="midge maisel and rose weissman the marvelous mrs maisel" height="2605" width="3900" msid="90211733" hostid="261"></div>At one point this season, Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) tries to do some matchmaking for Susie Myerson (Alex Borstein), just like Rose. Do you think Midge and Rose are more alike than they seem? Ever since that first year, when they showed that she mirrors me when it comes to how she gets ready every night for the next day, I was like, "Look at that! Like mother, like daughter." That was a stylistic choice, but when you think of how they both care about the artistry of the visual and how they enter a space in the most beautiful clothing and the most beautiful hats, it's not an accident. They also have a wit and an edge about them. I do think that she has so much of her father too, this intelligence and her father's goodness of spirit. But her mom has this way of running the show that Midge has too.Season four is at a time when they keep finding themselves in a rotation. Without even noticing it, the two of them are walking the same path.<div type="image" title="the marvelous mrs maisel" height="2182" width="3000" msid="90211734" hostid="261"></div>It's been a journey watching all the characters grow throughout the seasons. I'm wondering, is there any improvisation between the actors on set? I'm not sure Rose has ever been able to say one word that isn't what Amy and Dan had exquisitely come up with. They have not just one, but two script supervisors on set; One who's matching what we do with our physical lives, and the other who's matching the exactitude — like, if the word is "there's," I can't say "there is." There's this panic when you're on set, like, "Oh my god, I have to make sure I do this completely right." There's also a sense of musicality, like a music note that's exactly what you have to play.I have never been able to improv on the show, because what they do is too perfect.You're also dealing with a different time period. There are a lot of nuances that have to be accurate.What's so great about Amy's stuff is the crispness, even in the way we move. When she has us walk down the street, they sometimes put music behind us. It gives you a sense as if you're in a musical, even though they'll pull the music later.Do you have a go-to song to put on when you walk?No, Dan is so versed and skilled in music, as is Amy. They come from a background of deep appreciation for musicals. I have nothing that touches the level of their expertise on that stuff.In fact, often they put something on, and afterward, I'm like, "Who sings that?" They'll be like, "Barbra Streisand" or "Sutton Foster," who they love. It's like, "Oh my god, I've got to go buy that."<div type="image" title="marin hinkle rose weissman the marvelous mrs maisel" height="2600" width="3900" msid="90211735" hostid="261"></div>"The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" is coming to an end after five seasons. How did you react when you heard the news?I've been a very lucky performer in that I've been on a number of shows that have lasted a bit.This one is heart-wrenching for me because the family is truly like a second family. Maybe that's partially because of COVID. It was a time when people's appreciation for connection was so large. We did a lot of Zooming with one another. I have that ache that happens if you contemplate death. That's a little dramatic.No, I understand!I'm going to have to hold onto Amy and Dan's hands and be like, "You have to promise, even if it's a lie, that we'll do something in five years!"I don't know how I'm going to walk away from these people. I'm just going to imagine that it isn't the end, even though they told us it is. <div type="image" title="coney island the marvelous mrs maisel" height="2751" width="3900" msid="90211738" hostid="261"></div>We'll have to cross our fingers for a reunion. Yeah, I think that's it. I do.There's an episode coming up where Rose has this crazy magical moment where real-life magic happens. My character ends up getting hypnotized and doing a stand-up act like my daughter. They brought us to a theater — and I've done a lot of theater, but I've never done anything that connects to what Rachel or Alex do in real life. I had to memorize something that was a version of what Midge would have done in one of her stand-up acts. I have to channel a little bit. They didn't want me to sound like her or be exactly like her, because it's obviously Rose in a hypnotic state. In the moment I asked the great Rachel Brosnahan, "Can you come on set?" She was there in the audience, but I was like, "Can you come up to the stage and hold my hand?" It was almost like she was a dance choreographer in that moment. It was very moving for me to try and connect to her. We were at the Cherry Lane Theatre, and I had to get on the stage in front of people they wonderfully hired and paid to laugh at me, even though I wasn't always necessarily funny. Hopefully, I was funny enough to make them laugh.<div type="image" title="the marvelous mrs maisel season 4" height="2600" width="3900" msid="90211740" hostid="261"></div>I'm sure it was great. So you wanted to mirror small parts of Midge's act without mimicking her?That's what the storyline was. When I got the news that I was doing it, I think for two nights — I only had the script a couple nights before — I'm not sure I slept because I was way too nervous.When people perform and then forget about an audience, it's a beautiful way to be on stage. But if you're looking out at an audience, the fear factor is so great.How long did it take you to capture that scene?Maybe I should be embarrassed by this, but they gave me a lot of time because they knew it was going to take a lot of time.That's so great.It took two and a half days, which is a long time to shoot one little scene. It was so much fun, and I was sweating profusely. I went up to Rachel afterward, who I love like a daughter, and I said: "Oh my god, I've been in awe of you since the day we started shooting, but my awe levels just surpassed anything I ever thought because that is the scariest thing, to do standup in front of people."<div type="image" title="rose weissman the marvelous mrs maisel" height="2599" width="3900" msid="90211741" hostid="261"></div>Absolutely, and she does such a fantastic job. I'm just excited to see Abe Weissman's face.Abe's face! I make fun of things the way Midge would, and Abe's face is so priceless.When I come out of my state of hypnosis, I have no memory of any of it. Not Marin, Marin remembers! Rose never has a reality check where she knows what she did.Poor Rose! Everybody else knows.If there had been iPhones, I'm sure it would be the most humiliating thing. If she heard what she did, she would be hospitalized. <div type="image" title="abe weissman rose weissman the marvelous mrs maisel" height="2194" width="3900" msid="90211743" hostid="261"></div>That sounds like such a joy to watch. Is there anything you'd like to add?Each year there's different kinds of movement emotionally. There were these times that Rose was making big strides in who she was as more of a feminist. Then she went through days where she was seemingly going backward. Sometimes it's interesting where people are championing her. Like, "Come on, go forth in a way that's like your daughter."It's also amazing that Amy knows that people have grown up in a way — my mother and father are like this, too — where you could push them into the new generation, but there are parts of them that are like, "For a long time, I've been this other way, so let me take a beat."Sometimes I almost want to have a contemporary approach to her where I'm like, "Come on, Rose! Pretend that you can be more liberated and you can accept your daughter." Then you realize that people, if they've been a certain way for this many years, they might be a little stuck.This interview has been edited and condensed for clarity.

'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' star Marin Hinkle reveals her stand-up scene took over 2 days to film, and shares more behind-the-scenes stories from season 4

<keyword id="6361865" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Volkswagen">Volkswagen</keyword> has finally launched the much awaited Polo <keyword id="277185" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="GTI">GTI</keyword>. The beast car is launched at Rs 25.99 lakh in India and bookings for the limited edition car have started. The German automaker will only be selling 99 cars in India as of now. 
 
The three-door beast is powered by 1.8L 4-cylinder TSI engine matted with a 7-speed automatic DSG transmission churning out 192 PS of power. It generates 250 Nm torque at 1250-5300 rpm with a top speed of 233 kmph. 
 
The new limited edition car will be equipped with with signature styling such as GTI Honeycombed Grill, LED Headlamps with red inserts, Dual chrome exhaust pipes, and GTI Signature Red Coloured Stripes &amp; Stitching.

Volkswagen today inaugurated its new 3S (Sales, Service and Spares) dealership in New Delhi – Volkswagen Capital. 
 
The total number of Volkswagen dealerships in Delhi &amp; NCR has now shot up to 9 showrooms. The new showroom is located at Mohan Co-operative Industrial Estate, Main Mathura road and is part of the Landmark Group. 
 
The dealership boasts of a 25-bay workshop, fully equipped with a stock of spares. The workshop is equipped to undertake general repair and maintenance, as well as body and paint repair work.

This is one of its kind app from the German auto giant that will tell the VW customers various things. For starters it will educate the drivers on what each indicator on the dashboard suggests. The app will also tell labour charges on your next service, manage road side assistance and emergency contact details. 
 
Users can also book a <keyword id="135251" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Test-drive">test drive</keyword> via the app. A good feature if you ask us. This will enable a potential buyer to quickly call for a test car at a push of a button. Moreover, current set of VW owners in India can also send queries to the company and get them answered swiftly.

The limited edition is available in Comfortline and Highline trims. This comes along with latest entertainment and connectivity features. The connectivity features of this sedan consist of Blaupunkt infotainment system with GPS navigation and hands-free, 3G Internet connectivity and Bluetooth telephony. 
 Looking at the other aspects of the car, it has housed Igo-Navtech maps for navigation, a 7 inch TFT touchscreen colour display, USB connectivity and iPod/ <keyword id="6354606" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="iPhone">iPhone</keyword> compatibility into the centre console. 
 The rear-seat entertainment system showcases an Android-powered Bluetooth-enabled 8 inch Blaupunkt tablet with 3G-compatibility, twin-SIM functionality and Wi-Fi capability. Those who occupy the rear seat can enjoy 16 channels of live television, Internet radio and weather news on the tablet. A few TV stars were nominated, including Bryan Cranston for "All The Way" and Neil Patrick Harris for "Hedwig and the Angry Inch."
"A Gentleman's Guide to Love &amp; Murder" leads the pack with 10 nods, followed by "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" with 8 nominations.
The Tonys will air on June 8 on CBS.

TV stars Bryan Crantson and Neil Patrick won their first stage awards, while Audra McDonald had a record-breaking sixth win for "Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill."
Cranston's "All the Way" won for best play, while "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder" received the award for best musical.
