The biggest extravaganza of football, FIFA World Cup 2022 started on November 20 in <keyword id="6355203" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="qatar" source="Orion">Qatar</keyword> and will be held till December 18. Eight stadiums across Qatar will be hosting the 64 matches of this tournament. A total of 32 teams from five confederations are competing at Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022 for the biggest prize in football. As many as 64 matches will be played during the course of 29 days. The teams are hosts Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal, the Netherlands, England, Iran, USA, Wales, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland, France, Australia, Denmark, Tunisia, Spain, Costa Rica, Germany, Japan, Belgium, Canada, Morocco, and Croatia, Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland, Cameroon, Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay and South Korea. It is the final World Cup tournament for Lionel Messi, the Argentina striker considered one of the greatest ever footballers of all time. It is also highly likely that 37-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo will don the Portuguese colours for one final time. This marks the first time the Middle East is hosting the event. It is also the first time the World Cup is being held outside the typical June-July window, in order to avoid the desert heat during the summers in Qatar. Meanwhile, Enner Valencia scored a brace to help Ecuador defeat Qatar in the opening game of the 2022 FIFA World Cup at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, Qatar on Sunday.With this win, Ecuador became the first team to beat the host nation in the opening match of the World Cup in the 92-year history of the tournament. The Round of 16 from December 3 onwards will mark the beginning of the knockout stage of the tournament. <keyword id="42747" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tata-Motors">Tata Motors</keyword> has been in shock lately, because its global brand ambassador Lionel Messi has been convicted by a Spanish court for tax frauds. 
 
The company has, as of now, refused to comment on the issue until further developments. 
 
A few days back, when Messi announced his retirement, the company was quick to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Messis-retirement-to-not-change-Tata-Motorss-pact/articleshow/52938468.cms">issue a statement</a> that his retirement would not effect the relations that he shares with Tata Motors. 
 
Messi, who has been the global brand ambassador for Tata Motors since last November, also has an extension option as a part of this two-year deal. He has, as per the contract, appeared in several TV commercials for Tata Motors, including the one for Tiago, the latest hatchback from Tata Motors. 
 
However, it was yesterday that a Spanish court <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Messi-sentenced-to-21-months-jail-in-3-tax-crimes-fined-Euro-2-million/articleshow/53079871.cms">sentenced Messi</a> and his father Jorge for a 21-month jail term for tax frauds worth 4.1 million euro between 2007 and 2009. This has forced Tata Motors to carefully evaluate the effects that associations with the now-controversial Football star will have on the image of the brand. 
 
However, since Spanish law allows one to serve probation when being sentenced under two years for a first-time non-violent crime, Messi is unlikely to go to prison. This surely is one point of relief for Tata Motors, because it has already put in heavy money to get Messi on board.

Tata Motors shocked over Messi’s tax mess

Argentine Football superstar <keyword id="704" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Lionel-Messi">Lionel Messi</keyword> has decided to retire from international football, but <keyword id="42747" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tata-Motors">Tata Motors</keyword> has said that his decision will have no effect on his association with the company, who had signed Messi as its global brand ambassador last November, making it his first association with an Indian brand. 
 
It was after Argentina crashed to defeat against Chile in the Copa America Centenario final that Messi announced his retirement, stating that “it hurts not to be a champion”. 
 
However, a spokesperson from Tata Motors has said that "this does not change our association with him." 
 
Tata Motors had roped in Messi in an extendable two-year contract to promote and endorse its passenger vehicles around the globe. 
 
Messi has also appeared in the commercial for Tiago, the latest car from Tata Motors.

<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Tata+Motors">Tata Motors</a> recently signed a long-term pact with sports icon <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Lionel+Messi">Lionel Messi</a> to endorse its range of passenger vehicles globally. 
 
<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Lionel+Messi">Lionel</a> will star in the campaign 'What drives us from within is what makes us great' to be followed by several others. 
 
In a statement, the magician of football said he was thrilled to be part of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Tata+Motors">Tata Motors</a>. "Namaste India. I am very excited about my first association with an Indian brand. I have always been fascinated by India and have heard such great things about this diverse country. I was once in India with Argentina National Team and I hope to visit it again," he said, referring to Argentina vs Venezuela friendly he played at the Salt Lake stadium in Kolkata four years ago. 
 
However, this isn’t the first time an international star has endorsed a desi brand globally.

<keyword id="42747" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tata-Motors">Tata Motors</keyword> has launched a new car named <keyword id="186164" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="ZICA">Zica</keyword>, and the officials hope that it would open new gates for the company, taking it back to the good old days when it used to be at the centre of the Indian car market. 
 
Talking of their latest offering, Zica is a compact hatchback that is put in the market to compete with Maruti Suzuki's Wagon R and Celerio, and Hyundai's Grand i10. This segment sells somewhere between 40,000 to 45,000 cars a month. 
 
The car was unveiled to the media last week and sales are expected to begin from January. Aimed at young, first-time car buyers and is a part of Tata Motors' aim to make `cool cars', offering desirable vehicles which are dependable and sturdy. Zica would be priced between Rs 3.59 lakh and Rs 5.59 lakh. 
 
Tata Motors, which is India's largest automotive manufacturer by revenue have plans to entice buyers by giving out lavish features that are not usual in affordable hatchback segment. 
 
Zica has been built on an all-new platform and has been designed and developed after enough research, taking inputs from around 1,000 prospective buyers. It is developed under Tata Motors' Jaguar Land Rover-inspired new product introduction process, and more than 200 engineers worked on the project for 3 years. 
 
"Zica is a fresh start for us, a new beginning," Mayank Pareek, president of passenger vehicle division at Tata Motors, told ET. "I am quite confident that the market will respond favourably as it is the bestlooking car, which delivers on style, performance and value." 
Talking of specifications, Zica comes with two all-new engines -a three-cylinder 1.2L all-aluminum petrol engine, estimated to deliver 1820 kms to a litre and a 1L diesel engine offering 25 kmpl. 
 
Like Nano, Zica too would be produced in Sanand. Zica is also backed by an overhauled ecosystem that delivers on cost, quality, network, sales experience and not to forget, a strong branding with world-famous footballer Lionel Messi as the company's new brand ambassador. 
With the launch of Zica and plans to bring out two new products every year, Tata Motors expects that the sales volume would pick up fast.
