<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container float_right"><div class="image on-image"><p class="source">Bob Levey/Getty Images</p></div><p></p></div>Texans quarterback <keyword id="1440427" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Matt-Schaub">Matt Schaub</keyword> went out of the game today with an ankle injury and many Texans fans erupted in cheers. The fans kept cheering when back-up quarterback T.J Yates took the field and Yates threw a pick-6.</p>
<p>Jonathan Joseph, a cornerback for the Texans was not happy with his fans, and <a href="https://twitter.com/PaulyGRadio/status/389492526022811648">says if they're going to cheer when someone gets hurt that they shouldn't show up at all</a>. Joseph said:</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">"They gonna do that, don't show the f***up."</p>
<p>Other Texans were mad at their fans too. Brian Cushing <a href="https://twitter.com/taniaganguli/status/389485661939433472">called the reaction "barbaric"</a> and Yates called it "straight up disrespectful."</p>
<p>It's never okay to cheer when a player gets injured, but<a href="http://thebiglead.com/2013/10/13/johnathan-joseph-tells-houston-fans-who-would-cheer-a-matt-schaub-injury-dont-show-the-f-up/"> as The Big Lead points out,</a> Schaub wasn't playing that poorly today and wasn't even the biggest problem for the Texans.</p>

Texans Player Tells Fans 'Don't Show The F*** Up' If They Are Going To Cheer For An Injury

That gap, between starter and backup, of $19.8 million is the largest in the NFL.</p>
<p>At the other end, there are nine teams actually paying the backup more than the starter. The winless Oakland Raiders have the biggest gap as starter Derek Carr has a cap hit of just $976,700 and backup Matt Schaub's cap number is $8.0 million.</p>
<p>In all, 13 teams are paying their starting quarterback at least $10.0 million more than his backup. Overall, the average cap hit is $9.2 million for starting quarterbacks and $2.1 million for backups.</p>

The Oakland Raiders Have The Most Expensive Backup Quarterback In The NFL And No Wins

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container full"><div class="image"><p class="source"><span>Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports</span></p></div><p></p></div>Johnny Manziel fell to the Cleveland Browns at No. 22 in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/nfl-draft-first-round-picks-2014-5">the first round of the NFL Draft</a>.</p>
<p>He was projected to go much higher, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/expert-nfl-mock-draft-2014-5">possibly in the top-5</a>. It's <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/johnny-manziel-browns-2014-5">a steal for the Browns</a>, but a disappointment for Manziel.</p>
<p>Twenty one NFL teams, five of which desperately need a starting quarterback in our estimation, had a chance to draft him and either picked someone else or traded down.</p>

<p><keyword id="865621" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Seattle-Seahawks">Seattle Seahawks</keyword> defensive end Michael Bennett was taken off the field on a stretcher after his head was violently snapped back while trying to sack Matt Schaub of the Texans.</p>
<p>Making matters worse was that an Bennett's father was in the stands and obviously concerned about the health of his son. The good news is that Bennett was moving all of his limbs prior to being strapped to the stretcher.</p>

Seahawks Lineman Was Taken Off The Field On A Stretcher With His Dad In The Stands

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Houston Texans quarterback Ryan Mallett <a href="http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000423288/article/bill-obrien-tabs-ryan-mallett-as-texans-starting-qb">will make his first NFL start ever on Sunday</a>. </p>
<p>Mallett doesn't have much of a track record. He has thrown four passes in his NFL career for 17 yards and an interception.</p>
<p>But he was a third-round pick in 2011, and since he has spent his entire career backing up Tom Brady, we really have no idea how good he is. Both Matt Cassell and Brian Hoyer have parlayed a job as Brady's back-up into a job as a starter elsewhere. Now it's Mallett's turn.</p>
<p>The Texans signed Ryan Fitzpatrick to <a href="http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000335725/article/ryan-fitzpatrick-signs-with-houston-texans">a two-year, $7.5-million contract</a> last spring after trading Matt Schaub to Oakland <a href="http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10644839/matt-schaub-traded-oakland-raiders-houston-texans">for a sixth-round pick</a>. Fitzpatrick was the uncontested starter going into training camp.</p>
<p>On the eve of the season, the Texans pulled the trigger on a trade for Mallett. Since the Patriots drafted Jimmy Garoppolo in the 2nd round of the 2014 draft, Mallett (who is on an expiring contract) became expendable and everyone knew it.</p>
<p>The Patriots just wanted something, anything for a player who was going to leave at the end of the year. Without any negotiating leverage, New England sent him to Houston for the remarkably low price of <a href="http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/extra_points/2014/08/reactions_to_ryan_malletts_trade.html">a conditional 2016 7th-round pick</a>.</p>
<p>It was a low-cost, low-risk move for Houston. Even if Mallett didn't play a down for them, getting a decent back-up quarterback for a 7th-round pick is a nice deal. Instead, they're going to give Mallett a chance to prove himself for the first time in his NFL career. If he plays great, they've finally found their quarterback. If he stinks, it's not like he cost him much anyway.</p>

The Houston Texans Got Their New Quarterback From The Patriots For Almost Nothing, And It Was A Genius Move

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Jason Miller/Getty Images</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>In a Monday Night Football matchup that was making more headlines for who was not going to play instead of those on the field, the Cleveland Browns lost what looked a sure win and they lost it in true stomach-punch fashion.</p><p>The bizarre set of twists and turns began with less than two minutes remaining when the Browns backup quarterback, Austin Davis (who was their third string quarterback last week behind Johnny Manziel and had not thrown a pass all season prior to the game) threw his first touchdown pass since Week 9 of last season with the St. Louis Rams. That touchdown tied the game 27-27.</p><p>The Ravens then seemingly had plenty of time to get into field goal range to win the game. Instead, their backup quarterback, Matt Schaub, filling in for the injured Joe Flacco, threw an ugly interception with less than a minute left.</p><p></p><p>This left the Browns needing only about 15-20 yards to get into field goal range to attempt their own game-winning field goal. </p><p>Sure enough, after a Davis scramble, the Browns set up for a 51-yard field goal with three seconds remaining. Certainly this was not an easy field goal, but this is one an NFL kicker is expected to make.</p><p>Only there is one problem. Long field goals tend to be more susceptible to being blocked because the kicker wants a lower trajectory on his kick in order to kick it farther. Sure enough, the kick was blocked.</p><p>But to make matters worse, the Ravens then scooped it up and ran it all the way back for a game-winning touchdown. Here is the play with the call from Browns radio (via ESPN and Fox Sports 1).</p><p></p><p>That's a terrible way to lose a game and it came against a division rival, a team that had left Cleveland in 1996, and in the midst of yet another season where nothing ever seems to go right for the Browns. </p><p>Afterwards, Browns coach Mike Pettine sounded devastated when speaking with the media. </p><p>"Tough one to wrap your brain around," Pettine said dejectedly. "Frustrating. Our guys battled back and came back from some deficits ... didn't finish it. That's the frustrating thing."</p><p>Pettine went on to describe the mood in the locker room.</p><p>"Like I said, frustrating," Pettine continued. "Hard to look at the men in the room, to see just the looks on their faces of being that close and coming up short. The Browns lost to the Ravens in the most heart-breaking way possible

I went 11-5 against the spread, which is especially impressive because I'd been away from football the week before and - full disclosure - I make my picks 99% based off how every team looked the week prior. (The other 1% is pure grit, folks.)</p><p>So this week I'm riding the hot hand and doing the same thing. Only four weeks of the regular season left! NFL WEEK 14: Our picks for who wins this weekend

He's also making a name for himself as ESPN's NFL gambling expert.</p><p>After going 19-2-3 over the final eight weeks of the 2014 season, Sal has caught fire again. Cuz is 15-6 over the last seven weeks, despite going 1-2 a week ago. He is also 10-3 this season on his "Best Bet."</p><p>So let's take a look at who Cousin Sal likes this week along with his thoughts on each pick. I like them over Pittsburgh."</li></ul><h2>Pick 2:</h2><p><span>His second pick is his two-team teaser - must pick both games correctly, but you get a more favorable point-spread in each game. This reeks 35-9 to me. ESPN's NFL gambling expert is still rolling - here are Cousin Sal's picks for Week 14

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Streeter Lecka/Getty</span></p></div><p></p></div></div>Thanksgiving marks the only government-official day where it's acceptable to consume double your weight in food while watching football all day.</p><p>The NFL is generous enough to take away from some of its Sunday flair and give us an extra two Thursday games for Thanksgiving.</p><p>Unfortunately, this year's slate is a bit of a dud - Eagles vs. Lions is the closest game of the day, in terms of season records, and neither team has more than four wins in ten tries. The Cowboys and Panthers, meanwhile, are a full seven games apart in the standings!</p><p>This makes the food the official highlight of the day, so before we get to this week's picks, a quick ranking of popular Thanksgiving foods:</p><ol><li>Mashed potatoes - Simple, basic, but nobody complains about mashed potatoes. They're the second-biggest staple of the traditional Thanksgiving meal, and they get the job done.</li><li>Pie - I will not debate which pies are best, but if you're a picky pie-eater, there are so many options that surely, you'll find something you like.</li><li>Ham - A quick Google search tells me ham is popular on Thanksgiving. I don't eat ham on Thanksgiving, but I can confirm ham is both salty and tasty, so you're doing a better job than me if you have ham on Thanksgiving.</li><li>Stuffing - The more experimental the stuffing combinations, the better.</li><li>Gravy - The centerpiece of the traditional Thanksgiving meal is so bland that we dump this stuff on it to make it taste better. Pretty vital part of the meal.</li><li>Salad - Hard to mess up salad. Amongst the thickness of the Thanksgiving meal, salad is like water.</li><li>Corn bread - Done right, corn bread is sweet and soft, and if you take issue with bread, I imagine eating with you is difficult.</li><li>Turkey - It kind of feels like a chore to eat turkey. It's the centerpiece of the Thanksgiving meal, the face of the franchise, simply because it's so big and can feed numerous people. Eating turkey on Thanksgiving feels like a hurdle to enjoy the other foods.</li><li>Green bean casserole - Whatever.</li><li>Sweet potatoes with marshmallows - Ruining sweet potatoes by dumping sugar puffs on them is a crime against the Pilgrims.</li></ol><p>Now to our picks!</p><p>[Note: with usual NFL-picker, BI Sports writer Emmett Knowlton out of office, this is my week to take the wheel]</p><p><strong>Philadelphia Eagles @ Detroit Lions (-1.5)</strong></p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Kevin C. The Cowboys are healthy-ish again, but the Panthers' secondary takes care of the Cowboys' offense, and the Panthers' streak continues.</p><p><strong>The pick: Panthers</strong></p><p> </p><p><strong>Chicago Bears @ Green Bay Packers (-9)</strong></p><p>Jay Cutler at Lambeau Field: 0-4, 51% completion percentage, three touchdowns, 12 interceptions. This Giants team feels ripe for a Kirk Cousins "You like that?!" game.</p><p><strong>The pick: Washington +2.5</strong></p><p> </p><p><strong>Oakland Raiders (-1.5) @ Tennessee Titans </strong></p><p>The Raiders have the fifth-best passing attack; the Titans have the eighth-best passing defense.
