<ul><li><keyword id="19931193" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki-India" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Maruti Suzuki India" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Maruti Suzuki India">Maruti Suzuki India</keyword> on Friday reported a 47.8% rise in <keyword id="19942166" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="net-profit" source="keywords">net profit</keyword> for the March quarter of <keyword id="19910780" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="FY24" source="keywords">FY24</keyword>.</li><li>The auto maker reported a net profit of Rs 3,877.8 crore, on account of higher sales volume and favourable commodity prices.</li><li> The auto major had reported a net profit of Rs 2,623.6 crore in the year-ago period.</li></ul>The country's largest car maker <keyword id="19909974" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="maruti-suzuki" source="keywords">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> India on Friday reported a 47.8 per cent rise in net profit for the March quarter of FY24 to Rs 3,877.8 crore, on account of higher sales volume and favourable commodity prices. The auto major had reported a net profit of Rs 2,623.6 crore in the year-ago period, Maruti Suzuki India said in a regulatory filing. "For the first time, the company surpassed annual total sales milestone of 2 million units in FY24. The company continued to be the top exporter for the third consecutive year, now contributing 41.8 per cent of total passenger vehicle exports from India," the company stated. Maruti Suzuki shares were trading at Rs 12,687.05 apiece at the day's close, down 1.7 per cent from its previous close on the BSE. Maruti Suzuki Q4 net profit rises 47.8% to ₹3,877.8 crore

<ul><li><keyword id="44883" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> announced its earnings report for the first quarter of FY20. </li><li>Its profits have declined by 27.3%.</li><li>However, the company has managed to perform better than the market estimate. </li></ul>India’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki’s first quarter sales fell 14% and the profit fell by nearly twice as much, 27.3%. But the share price gained over a percent immediately after the company’s earnings report because the performance was better than expected. Over the past few months, car sales have been woefully slow in India, which had led to a lot of talk on performance of auto manufacturers for the quarter. CLSA, the capital markets research firm, had predicted that its first quarter profits could decline by 35-40%. Maruti Suzuki, just like its peers, has been reporting its declining sales every month, which also led to the car manufacturer lose its stock market price. The depleting fortunes in India cost the company’s Japanese partner Suzuki <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/suzuki-earnings-estimate-cut-as-marutis-india-sales-fall/articleshow/70128693.cms">$2 billion</a> in market capitalisation in just two days.

Going forward, the company hopes that a strong product portfolio and commodity prices will help them get back on track.

Luxury carmaker <keyword id="6363321" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="audi" source="Orion">Audi</keyword> on Wednesday said it will increase prices of its model range by up to 1.7 %, with effect from January 1, 2023. The company said it is hiking the prices due to an increase in input and operational costs. "The primary objective of the company's business strategy focuses on a model that begets profitability and sustainability. The price correction is affected as a result of the rising supply-chain-related input and operational costs," <keyword id="5176836" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="audi-india-head" source="Orion">Audi India Head</keyword> Balbir Singh Dhillon said in a statement. The new price range for the company models is directed at maintaining the premium price positioning of the brand, ensuring sustainable growth of both the automaker and its dealer partners, he added. <keyword id="148913" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="audi-india" source="Orion">Audi India</keyword>'s current line-up includes the petrol-powered A4, A6, A8 L, Q3, Q5, Q7, Q8, S5 Sportback, RS 5 Sportback, and RSQ8. The electric vehicle portfolio under the e-Tron brand comprises the e-Tron 50, e-Tron 55, e-Tron Sportback 55, e-Tron GT and RS e-Tron GT.  When the last quarter results were announced on July 26, its share price gained over a percent immediately after the company’s earnings report because the performance was better than expected. Second quarter woes In the second quarter, its worries only worsened from the first quarter. Its sales fell by 24% in September as compared to the same month last year.  In August, it had also slashed 3,000 contractual jobs as it had cut production. Maruti was expecting some traction as it started offering discounts across multiple car models during the the festive season. In September, Maruti Suzuki also slashed prices to align with the government’s plans to revive demand. It reduced the price of select models like Alto 800, Alto K10, Swift Diesel, Celerio, Baleno Diesel by ₹5,000. Maruti’s performance in the first quarter As the car slowdown hit the country’s automobile segment, almost every other manufacturer saw its profits fall in the first quarter of the current financial year. Maruti Suzuki’s first quarter sales fell 14% and profits fell by nearly twice as much, 27.3%. The total car sales for the first quarter had fallen by 17.9% as compared to the same quarter in the previous year.

As expected, manufacturers are rolling in discounts every month, to help push sales. Maruti Suzuki is leading the way with most ‘total cash discounts’ offered to consumers. While Alto models saw an 8% increase in discounts as compared to June, the Celerio Automatic and Dzire Diesel versions saw a steep increase of 23% and 27%. And, the manufacturers are beginning to blame the government. “There is no demand and no private investment, so where will growth come from? It doesn’t fall from the heavens. The auto industry is going through a very difficult period.
