The stock of the company climbed 2.30 per cent to trade at Rs 13,417.05 apiece on the NSE. On the BSE, it rose 2.06 per cent to trade at Rs 13,439.55 per piece. Later, in the intra-day trade, the shares of the Gurugram-based automobile major advanced to hit a 52-week high of Rs 13,680 and 13,675 apiece on the NSE and BSE. In the morning trade, the company's market valuation also rose by Rs 15,941.78 crore to Rs 4.29 lakh crore on the BSE while it stood at Rs 4.30 lakh crore on the NSE. The 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 127 points or 0.16 per cent to trade at 81,868.34 while NSE Nifty went up 61.40 points or 0.25 per cent to 25,012.55. In a regulatory filing on Wednesday, <keyword id="44883" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki" source="Orion">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> India reported a 47 per cent jump in net profit to Rs 3,650 crore for June quarter, riding on the back of cost reduction efforts, favourable commodity prices and foreign exchange gains. The auto major had logged a net profit of Rs 2,485 crore in April-June FY24. Net sales increased to Rs 33,875 crore in the June quarter as compared with Rs 30,845 crore in the year-ago period, the company said. The country's largest carmaker said it sold 5,21,868 vehicles during the first quarter, up 5 per cent as compared to the same period previous fiscal. The company said it sold 4,51,308 units in the domestic market in the first quarter, an increase of 4 per cent over the same period of FY24.

However, the shortage of electronic components had put brakes on overall sales. According to <keyword id="44883" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="maruti-suzuki" source="Orion">Maruti Suzuki</keyword>, it had sold a total of 167,520 units (domestic 143,250 units, sales to other car makers 3,822, exports 20,448 units) in October 2022 up from 138,335 units (domestic 112,788 units, sales to other car makers 4,225 units, exports 21,322 units). Hyundai Motor India Ltd sold 58,006 units (domestic 48,001 units, exports 10,005 units) last month as against 43,556 units (domestic 37,021 units, exports 6,535 units) sold in October 2021. Utility vehicle major Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd said it had sold 32,298 passenger vehicles last month in the domestic market, up from 20,130 units sold in October 2021. On the other hand, Tata Motors Ltd said it had sold 45,423 passenger vehicles last month (34,155 units sold in October 2021). Interestingly for Nissan Motor India, exports outnumbered its domestic sales last month. The company had sold a total of 10,011 units out of which exports were 6,950 units and domestic sales were 3,061 units. Indian car makers drove good sales in October in spite of component shortage

With emission and fuel efficiency norms getting tighter, <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>'s largest car maker <keyword id="6363602" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="maruti-suzuki-india-ltd" source="Orion">Maruti Suzuki India Ltd</keyword> expects to have only hybrid (mild and strong), flexible fuel, compressed natural gas (CNG), electric, bio-fuel powered vehicles, said a senior official. As a result, pure petrol powered cars may not figure in the company's portfolio of cars in a decade. Already the company has stopped rolling out diesel powered cars. <keyword id="44883" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="maruti-suzuki" source="Orion">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> is also focusing on growing its sport utility vehicle portfolio and the market share in that segment. "Pure petrol powered cars may not be there in the company's product line up, say in 10 years time as the emission and fuel efficiency norms are getting tighter," Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director, Marketing &amp; Sales told IANS. He said the new Corporate Average Fuel Economy or Efficiency (CAFA per cent) norms may come into place in 2032. Unlike the norms for the tailpipe emissions, the CAFA% norms are for a carmaker's entire portfolio. More the fuel efficiency of a car, the less the tailpipe emissions. As there is a limit on achieving higher fuel efficiency with the current technology, companies are looking at alternatives. While electric vehicles are one option, it is not viable for the entire automotive segment in India in the short term owing to issues like availability of charging infrastructure, vehicle price and its payback period and others. The other option is rolling out vehicles powered by mixed fuel -- ethanol plus petrol, hybrid, flexible fuel, CNG and the like. Be that as it may, Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for unveiling its first midsize petrol-electric hybrid SUV on July 20. The vehicle will be rolled out in two variants-mild and strong. Maruti Suzuki to discontinue petrol-powered cars in 10 years

After making its maiden foray in Gurugram in 1983, country's largest car maker <keyword id="6363602" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="maruti-suzuki-india-ltd" source="Orion">Maruti Suzuki India Ltd</keyword> is going to set up its third facility with an outlay of Rs 18,000 crore in <keyword id="41646" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="haryana" source="Orion">Haryana</keyword> that will give boost to the auto industry. The automaker already has two manufacturing facilities in Haryana. The upcoming facility will have a production capacity of 250,000 vehicles per annum and is expected to be commissioned by 2025. In the past few years, Haryana has made rapid strides on several fronts, including industrial development, under the leadership of Chief Minister <keyword id="2458540" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="manohar-lal-khattar" source="Orion">Manohar Lal Khattar</keyword>, an official statement said on Tuesday. Haryana is well on its way to inclusive growth driven by a strong commitment of the government towards public welfare and ensuring the advanced facilities to its citizens. Likewise, the government is actively working towards making the state an industrial and automobile hub. The growth in automobile sector in the state can be gauged by the fact that <keyword id="44883" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="maruti-suzuki" source="Orion">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> is coming up with its third plant in the state. <keyword id="6912" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="maruti" source="Orion">Maruti</keyword> Suzuki India Ltd, Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Ltd and Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (HSIIDC) will sign an agreement for the allotment of 800-acre and 100 acre land at IMT Kharkhoda, respectively, at a ceremony on May 19 in Gurugram amidst the presence of the Chief Minister. The event would also celebrate the four decades of Haryana-Japan business relationship, which began in 1981 and continues to flourish even today, says the statement. Chief Minister Khattar said this is a huge achievement for the state as Maruti is setting up its third plant in the state. He said Maruti Suzuki has purchased an additional 800 acres at IMT Kharkhoda for its proposed new car manufacturing facility. The total project cost is estimated to be Rs 18,000 crore. It has the potential to generate employment for 11,000 skilled, unskilled and semi-skilled persons. Along with Maruti Suzuki, Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Ltd has also purchased a 100-acre land parcel for setting up an integrated manufacturing facility for two-wheelers, including engines. The total project cost is estimated to be Rs 1,466 crore, with a potential to generate employment for 2,000 skilled, unskilled and semi-skilled persons. "India is performing well in the ease-of-doing business and the ease-of-living index and Haryana is considered the fastest in both these respects. Haryana is one of the favourite destinations for global investors. Maruti played a major role towards development in the automobile sector and overall progress of the state," said the Chief Minister. "This will give a huge boost to the automobile sector and will motivate multinational companies in other sectors to set up their headquarters and manufacturing plants in Haryana. Along with this, new employment opportunities will also be created for the youth of the state. "Haryana has emerged as a magnet for the industry due to its enabling policies, availability of quality infrastructure, ease-of-doing business, conducive business environment and incentive structure. In Haryana, work was done to develop the industrial areas near the GT Roads and its proximity with Delhi other states too made it more preferred destination for industrial projects and there are dozens of industrial areas in multiple districts," said Khattar. The Industrial Model Township (IMT) at Kharkhoda, where Maruti Suzuki will be setting up its project, is an integrated industrial township with world-class infrastructure, being developed over an area of approximately 3,217 acres. It is strategically located on the Delhi-Haryana border, adjoining the western peripheral (Kundli-Manesar-Palwal) Expressway and State Highway 18. The IMT has abundant water and power supply from the NCR canal and the electricity utilities. Due to its proximity to Delhi and direct connectivity with Delhi Bahadurgarh, Gurugram and Sonipat via the KMP Expressway, Kharkhoda IMT will emerge as the next node for industrial development in Haryana. Regarding the expansion of Maruti Suzuki's foothold in Haryana, a spokesperson for the carmaker company said the company was in discussion with various state governments for their expansion plan but they find Haryana a suitable destination. "This first manufacturing facility at the site will have a production capacity of 250,000 vehicles per annum. It is expected to be commissioned by 2025. The land site will have space for capacity expansion and will include more production plants in the future," said the spokesperson. Notably, after setting up its first car plant at Gurugram in 1983, Maruti has steadily expanded its manufacturing footprint in Haryana by setting up a production facility at Manesar and a state-of-the-art R&amp;D centre in Rohtak. The two plants in Haryana - Gurugram and Manesar - together roll out around 15.5 lakh units annually. Today, the Gurugram-Manesar-Bawal belt is acknowledged as the auto hub of northern India.
