In the morning trade, the company's market valuation also rose by Rs 15,941.78 crore to Rs 4.29 lakh crore on the BSE while it stood at Rs 4.30 lakh crore on the NSE. The 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 127 points or 0.16 per cent to trade at 81,868.34 while NSE Nifty went up 61.40 points or 0.25 per cent to 25,012.55. No wonder then, sales from premium segments in 2024 make up around 27% of all FMCG sales and even contribute a massive 42% to the sector’s value growth in India. Nielsen report further adds that luxury brands that position themselves at twice the price of their category’s average are even witnessing stellar growth. In fact, for most FMCG brands like Tata Consumer Products, <keyword id="20002610" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hindustan-unilever" source="keywords">Hindustan Unilever</keyword> (HUL), Dabur, and Nestle, it is this premium segment that is growing much faster than their regular ones. And where will this consumer spend? On premium products! <h2>Online shopping shifts from mass to class</h2>Amazon’s Great Indian Shopping Festival, which was live between September 27 and October 29 this year, saw 140 crore customers, more than 85% of whom came from non-metro Indian cities. On the site, there was a 400% spike in sales in premium sales across categories like watches, fragrances, handbags, jewelry, and more. Rival <keyword id="19896939" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="flipkart" source="keywords">Flipkart</keyword> noted a similar trend, recording 1.8x growth in premium beauty and personal care products during the first half of this year. <h2>Dialing in premiumness</h2>The Indian smartphone ecosystem has always been dominated by basic phones, or those entry- and mid-range phones that are priced between Rs 10,000 and Rs 6,000. October auto sales – Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors report a decline, Mahindra continues to grow

Japanese car maker <keyword id="20032993" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Suzuki" source="keywords">Suzuki</keyword> Motor Corporation on Monday said it will continue to expand SUV portfolio in India to recover its overall market share in the passenger vehicle segment. The company, which currently has around 58 per cent stake in <keyword id="44883" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="maruti-Suzuki" source="Orion">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> India, said its net sales increased by 732.6 billion yen (15.8 per cent) year-on-year to 5,374.3 billion yen for the last financial year. Operating profit increased by 115 billion yen (32.8 per cent) YoY to 465.6 billion yen. "We will continue to promote the expansion of our SUV models (in India) and aim to recover our total passenger car share," Suzuki Motor Corporation said in a statement. Currently, <keyword id="19950117" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti" source="keywords">Maruti</keyword> Suzuki sells SUV (sport utility vehicle) models like Brezza, Jimny and Grand Vitara in the domestic market. The company's market share has come down to around 42 per cent from over 50 per cent a couple of years back in the domestic passenger vehicle segment on account of limited options in the SUV segment. With the market demand rising for SUVs, the company is in the process of bolstering its presence in the segment and regaining its market share. Suzuki Motor Corp said that in April 2024, a new production line with an annual capacity of 1 lakh units started operations at the Manesar plant. The company said it plans to secure a production capacity of around 40 lakh units in India by FY2030. Suzuki Motor Corp said it expects record sales and profits this fiscal due to higher unit sales. "The company is compiling strategies in various fields, including technology, and will announce the new mid-term management plan by the end of FY2024," it stated. September Auto sales – Automakers report a decline, Mahindra and Mahindra overtakes Tata Motors

India’s automobile sector is expected to get a boost during the upcoming festive season, with a forecasted growth of over 15%, particularly in the two-wheeler (2W) segment. According to an ANI report, this projection comes from a research report by <keyword id="23122458" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nuvama-wealth-investment-limited" source="keywords">Nuvama Wealth Investment Limited</keyword>, which attributes the growth to increased customer enquiries and a resurgence in rural demand. A key factor driving this surge is the anticipated revival of rural demand, which contributes more than 55% to the two-wheeler market. According to the report, rural areas are showing strong signs of recovery, and the increased enquiries suggest a positive outlook for sales. This bodes well for mass-market original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) such as TVS Motors, <keyword id="19983534" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hero-motocorp" source="keywords">Hero MotoCorp</keyword>, and <keyword id="19897354" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bajaj-auto" source="keywords">Bajaj Auto</keyword>. The launch of new models, including the <keyword id="22875740" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tvs-jupiter" source="keywords">TVS Jupiter</keyword> and Hero Xtreme 125R, is also expected to boost two-wheeler sales. In contrast, premium OEMs like Eicher Motors, which produces Royal Enfield motorcycles, may not experience the same level of demand growth. In the passenger vehicle segment, rural demand accounts for over 35% of the market. While growth in this area is expected to be in the single digits, it is anticipated that utility vehicles (UVs) will outpace hatchbacks with double-digit growth. This trend will likely benefit manufacturers such as Mahindra &amp; Mahindra and Tata Motors, with new models like the Mahindra Thar Roxx and Tata Currv expected to attract a significant share of customers. On the other hand, <keyword id="19909974" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="maruti-suzuki" source="keywords">Maruti Suzuki</keyword>, traditionally a strong player in the hatchback segment, may see more subdued growth compared to its rivals in the UV space. In preparation for the festive season, dealers have ramped up their inventories for both two-wheelers and passenger vehicles. According to the report, dealers have built up stocks for 1.5 to 2.5 months, signalling confidence in the market’s potential for increased sales. This build-up of inventory demonstrates that both manufacturers and dealers are optimistic about the surge in demand during the festive period. While two-wheelers and passenger vehicles are set to lead the charge this festive season, the commercial vehicle (CV) market is expected to grow at a more modest pace. Demand for medium and heavy commercial vehicles (MHCVs) is projected to increase in the low single digits, primarily driven by replacement demand as freight availability improves across India. Similarly, the tractor segment is expected to perform well over the next few years, with volume growth likely in the high single digits from FY24 to FY26. Tractors are seen as a strong performer in the long term, and the sector is poised to benefit from India’s agricultural demand and rural recovery. Looking beyond the festive season, the report suggests that the long-term outlook for the two-wheeler and tractor segments remains robust. Historical sales cycles, which typically span two to four years, suggest that these sectors could reach new peaks in the coming years. As a result, the report forecasts high single-digit volume growth for two-wheelers and tractors through FY24-26, while passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles are expected to see low single-digit growth. As of 9:30 am, Nifty was down by 0.05% trading at 24,420.30 points, while Sensex was down by 0.15% and was trading at 80,254.37 points as of 9:30 am. All broad market indices opened the day in the green, except for Nifty 50, 100, 200, 500, and midcap and smallcap 50 opened in red. India VIX was up by 1.17%. Amidst sectoral indices, Bank, auto, metal, financial services, PSU, and <keyword id="61519" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Private-banks" source="Orion">private banks</keyword> opened the day in the red. Continuing its momentum from yesterday, <keyword id="6912" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti" source="Orion">Maruti</keyword> opened the day in green and was up by 1.66%. Grasim, Divis Labs, Eicher Motors, and Britannia were the top gainers in early trade this morning. On the other hand, Mahindra and Mahindra, JSW Steel, Axis Bank, Dr. Reddy, and Kotak Bank were among the leading laggards. As Mr. Aditya Gaggar, Director of Progressive Shares, notes, "A strong rally in the auto counters helped the index end on trade at another record level of 24,433 yesterday. The index has breached its previous high convincingly by forming a big green candle and opening the door for further rallying towards the 24,520–24,600 zone. At the same time, 24,340 will be considered strong immediate support. BankNifty oscillates in a well-maintained range of 52,260–52,720; a breakout on either side is a must (mostly on the higher side, considering the strong uptrend). The auto segment ended its consolidation of over 2 weeks with a strong breakout indicating the resumption of its uptrend". "Post the strong breakout, follow-up buying was witnessed in the <keyword id="20421583" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="FMCG-segment" source="keywords">FMCG segment</keyword> which boosted our confidence to remain bullish on the sector (ITC is on the verge of a major breakout). Sugar counters regained their momentum and some of them have already given a strong breakout (Andhra Sugar and Dalmia Sugar) and some are at the cusp of a major breakout (Balrampur Chini and Renuka Sugar). We continue to remain positive in the <keyword id="20350923" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pharma-space" source="keywords">pharma space</keyword>", he continued. Shrikant Chouhan, Head of Equity Research, Kotak Securities noted that among sectors, the auto index gained over 2% while intraday profit booking was witnessed in select IT, oil, and gas stocks. "Currently, 24,300/80,000 would act as a key support zone for trend-following traders. We believe, that as long as the market is trading above it, the bullish sentiment will likely continue. On the higher side, 24,500 -24,600/80,500-80,800 would be the immediate resistance zones for day traders", he said.

The auto major had reported a net profit of Rs 2,623.6 crore in the year-ago period, Maruti Suzuki India said in a regulatory filing. "For the first time, the company surpassed annual total sales milestone of 2 million units in FY24. The company continued to be the top exporter for the third consecutive year, now contributing 41.8 per cent of total passenger vehicle exports from India," the company stated. Maruti Suzuki shares were trading at Rs 12,687.05 apiece at the day's close, down 1.7 per cent from its previous close on the BSE.
