<keyword id="6911" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="suzuki">Suzuki</keyword> Motor’s Indian arm <keyword id="44883" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> is going to develop a new generation <keyword id="6412620" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Alto">Alto</keyword> and strengthen its hold in the entry-car space. 
 Alto’s share dropped nearly to 40% -48% with the launch of <keyword id="43777" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Renault">Renault</keyword> Kwid. Kwid, however, has been able to gain almost 20% of the segment sales. The average monthly sales of the Alto have come down to 19,000-20,000 from 21,500 in the last fiscal year. 
 
 As per the sources, the company has started working on the project which internally is being called Y1K. The <keyword id="3734807" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="new-generation-Alto">new-generation Alto</keyword> is most likely to be launched by the festive season of 2019. The car will be the most expressive Alto anyone has ever seen and may even sport a crossover deign, they said. 
 
As the car will be engineered and made in India, it will be tailored as per the Indian market need. 
 
"While the company has made strong headway in the premium end of the market with the Baleno, Vitara Brezza and Ciaz, it will never lose sight of its bread-and-butter segment ... as the largest carmaker, Maruti needs to have a solid option for the prospective buyer and Y1K is an initiative on that front,” a person in Maruti Suzuki asking anonymity, told ET. 
 
The new-generation Alto will be engineered and designed based on a new platform so as to meet new regulations. "The hardware and technology will come from Suzuki, the putting together of hardware - that is design, engineering and validation will be all done by the Indian team with local inputs” a second person told ET. A Maruti spokesperson said as a policy, the company does not comment on future product plans. 
 
Maruti has lost share in the entry A car space, but has been expanding the share B segment, priced between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 12 lakh and led by the new Baleno, Ciaz and Brezza. 
 
Maruti is most likely to revamp its WagonR hatchback and Celrio tool in the next three years as part of its plan to launch 15 new products by 2020.

Maruti Suzuki to revamp its Alto hatchback

<ul><li><keyword id="44883" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> has reported a drop in 24% in sales in September as compared to the same month last year.</li><li>Indian <keyword id="1108326" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="auto-manufacturers">auto manufacturers</keyword> have reported a continuous decline in sales for over a year now. </li><li>Maruti Suzuki had also slashed prices to align with the Government’s plans to revive demand. </li></ul>There seems to be no end to the woes of the Indian auto industry. Maruti Suzuki reported a drop in 24% in sales in September as compared to the same month last year. It sold a total of 122,640 units in September 2019. Indian auto manufacturers have been reporting a consistent decline in monthly sales for over a year now.

 “My belief is that we are near the bottom of the downward cycle and the economy, and <keyword id="47168" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Car-sales">car sales</keyword> should start to accelerate in the near future,” Marutii Suzuki’s chairman RC Bhargava <a href="https://www.thehindu.com/business/Industry/auto-industry-is-near-bottom-of-downward-cycle-maruti-suzuki-chairman-bhargava/article29267803.ece">said at the company’s annual general meeting earlier in August.</a> However, the situation doesn’t seem to have changed in spite of steep discounts and a festive season around the corner. Maruti Suzuki slashed 3,000 contractual jobs in August. Earlier in September, Maruti Suzuki also slashed prices to align with the government’s plans to revive demand. It reduced the price of select models like Alto 800, Alto K10, Swift Diesel, Celerio, Baleno Diesel by ₹5,000. “This reduction of price will be over and above the current promotional offers for the company’s vehicle range,” Maruti Suzuki said.

Maruti Suzuki car sales see no respite for the festive season, decline by 24% in September

<keyword id="44883" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> India Limited is going to re-strategise its future policy and concentrate on premium cars as its latest models, the Vitara Brezza and the Baleno, were a hit. 
 
Vitara Brezza and Baleno were in the list of July and August 2016, in which the former moved to the eighth spot in August and the latter was at the ninth position. 
 MD and CEO of MSIL, <keyword id="1595175" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kenichi-Ayukawa">Kenichi Ayukawa</keyword>, told TOI, “Originally entry cars had big volumes, but now people expect a little more premium cars. We have to prepare and respond to all these expectations.” 
 Meanwhile, <keyword id="6912" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="maruti">Maruti</keyword> will also upgrade itself in the small car segment after the arrival of the <keyword id="43777" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Renault">Renault</keyword> Kwid, which has been giving stiff competition to the Alto. 
 
“We are planning a new-generation of Alto,” Ayukawa told TOI. 
 
Presently, Maruti has a market share of around 47 per cent.

Maruti Suzuki profits fall by 39.3% for the second quarter

New Delhi, Jan 27 () Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Monday said it has launched BS VI compliant CNG version of its hatchback Alto with price starting at Rs 4.32 lakh (ex showroom, Delhi).
 The Alto S-CNG offers a mileage of 31.59 km/kg, MSI said in a statement.
 "With the introduction of Alto BS6 S-CNG, we reinforce our efforts towards sustainable green mobility," MSI Executive Director (Marketing &amp; Sales) Shashank Srivastava said.
 The launch of company's S-CNG vehicle range is aligned to government's vision of reducing oil import and enhancing the share of natural gas in the energy basket of the country from 6.2 per cent now to 15 per cent by 2030, MSI said.

Maruti launches BS VI compliant CNG version of Alto at Rs 4.32 lakh

New Delhi, <keyword id="44883" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="maruti-suzuki" source="Orion">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> India on Wednesday said it is recalling 17,362 units of models like Alto K10, Brezza and <keyword id="6379565" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="baleno" source="Orion">Baleno</keyword> to inspect and replace a faulty <keyword id="16103703" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="airbag-controller" source="Orion">airbag controller</keyword>. The affected models are Alto K10, S-Presso, <keyword id="6392173" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="eeco" source="Orion">Eeco</keyword>, Brezza, Baleno and <keyword id="-332" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="grand-vitara" source="Orion">Grand Vitara</keyword>, manufactured between December 8, 2022 and January 12, 2023, the country's largest carmaker said in a regulatory filing. "The recall is being undertaken to inspect and replace Airbag Controller free of cost, if required in these vehicles," it added. It is suspected that there is a possible defect in the affected part, which in rare cases might result in non-deployment of the airbags and seat belt pretensioners in the event of a vehicle crash, the auto major stated. "Out of abundant caution, customers of the suspected vehicles are advised not to drive or use the vehicle till the affected part is replaced," it said. Affected vehicle owners will be receiving communication from Maruti Suzuki authorised workshops for immediate attention, it noted.
