<p>The <keyword id="208831" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="San-Antonio-Spurs">San Antonio Spurs</keyword> beat the <keyword id="255097" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Golden-State-Warriors">Golden State Warriors</keyword> 129-127 in the best game of the <keyword id="630356" type="SPORT" weightage="60" keywordseo="NBA-Playoffs">NBA Playoffs</keyword> so far Monday night.</p>
<p>In double overtime, the Spurs were down 127-126 with 3.9 seconds left when Manu Ginobli drilled a WIDE open three-pointer with 1.2 seconds left.</p>
<p>The shot came off an in-bounds play, and there's really no excuse for Golden State to leave him that open.</p>

<p>The Warriors just got totally lost when Boris Diaw set a screen for Tony Parker.</p>
<p>On the screen, Jarrett Jack left his man (Diaw) in order to guard Parker. At the same time, Harrison bars stayed with Parker instead of switching onto Diaw. As a result, Kent Bazemore had to rotate down to pick up Diaw, leaving his man (Ginobli).</p>
<p>No one was within 20 feet when the pass was thrown:</p>

Tottenham needed a win against their hated rival Chelsea to stay alive in the Premier League chase. Anything else and Leicester City would complete one of the all-time great fairy tale seasons. He was&#xa0;never a superstar (he did, however, knock Steph Curry out of the 3-point competition during&#xa0;the 2013 All-Star Weekend), but he was a quintessential Gregg Popovich role player and helped the team win&#xa0;two titles.</p><p>Congratulations to Bonner on a terrific career, and on his flannel retirement. The Spurs honored a cult-hero role player by retiring his flannel shirt

<p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/572922b09105844d018c0863-1920-960/snapshot_20160503_171040.jpg" alt="Snapshot_20160503_171040" data-mce-source="ESPN"><p class="source"><span>ESPN</span></p></img></div><p></p></div></div><p>The Oklahoma City Thunder beat the San Antonio Spurs in Game 2 of their playoff series with a wild final 13.5 seconds that overshadowed a great game.</p><p>While most of the NBA world focused on Dion Waiters'&#xa0;shove of Manu Ginobli, the NBA came out on Tuesday and admitted that the refs actually blew&#xa0;<em>five</em> calls in those final seconds and that the shove was just one blown call that could have changed the outcome of the game.</p><p>In all, three of the calls missed should have gone against the Spurs, including Ginobli stepping on the sideline and hindering the inbounds pass, and two players blatantly grabbing Thunder players during the play. As for the Thunder, in addition to missing the shove by Waiters, the NBA also says a foul should have been called on the final shot attempt by LaMarcus Aldridge, who had his jersey grabbed.</p><p>Here are each of the missed calls as highlighted by ESPN. The San Antonio Spurs lead the NBA with 5 players competing in the Rio Olympics

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/560adf3c9dd7cc25008bde87-2109-1582/rtx10qdc.jpg" alt="Gregg Popovich and Tim Duncan" data-mce-source="Lucy Nicholson/Reuters" /><p class="source"><span>Lucy Nicholson/Reuters</span></p></div><p></p></div></div>The end of the San Antonio Spurs dynasty may not be as close some people believe.</p><p>It is widely believed that future Hall of Famer Tim Duncan will only play one or two more years. It has also been speculated that head coach Gregg Popovich will not want to start over with a new group and could also retire once the core group of Duncan, Manu Ginobli, and Tony Parker decide to call it a career.</p><p>However, not only is Popovich planning to keep going after they retire, he is already bracing himself for a time when he is coach of the Spurs without the Big 3.</p><p>In an interview with Sage Steele of ESPN, Popovich was asked about the end being near for this great Spurs team and if he will keep coaching when they are done. While he doesn't come out and say it explicitly, he does confirm that he has made the promise to keep coaching.</p><p>"Signing LaMarcus [Aldridge], I had to make a commitment," Popovich said with a hesitation and a smile. "I couldn't say, 'LaMarcus, we would love to sign you, see you later.' So I committed to those guys and I committed to LaMarcus. So, I've got to fulfill my promise."</p><p>Aldridge signed a 4-year, $84 million free agent contract with the Spurs this off-season. This means Popovich will coach at least four more years, through the 2018-19 season.</p><p>Just prior to signing Aldridge, <a href="https://twitter.com/ESPNSteinLine/status/617369856476860416">Marc Stein of ESPN reported</a> that Popovich's plan was to coach the remaining four years on his 5-year contract he signed in the summer of 2014.</p><p>As for coaching without Duncan, Ginobli, and Parker, Popovich seemed to confirm that it is only a matter of <em>when</em> and that he has already resigned himself to that happening at some point and is bracing for when that day comes.</p><p>"I will feel very weird walking out onto a court and not seeing Timmy or Manu or Tony out there," Popovich said. "[They are] kinda like my safety blanket or my comfort level. I'll miss them a lot."</p><p>The biggest fear for Spurs fans was that there would be a sudden drop-off, that the Big 3 and Popovich would all leave at the same time and the franchise would have to start over from scratch. Gregg Popovich had a great reaction when asked how he puts losing in the playoffs in perspective

<p>On Thursday against the Houston Rockets, a nationally televised game on TNT, both Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobli did not play and the Spurs were blown out 98-81 in a game that wasn't even that close.</p>
<p>It is no secret that Popovich likes to occasionally rest his aging stars during the regular season, in effect sacrificing entire games to make sure his best players are well-rested for the playoffs. But it is a little jarring to see the dreaded "DNP (did not play) COACH'S DECISION" so early in the season during what should have been a fun matchup against their intrastate rival.</p>

<p>This is a strategy Popovich has been using for a few seasons now. During the 2010-11 season, Popovich did rest his stars, but he did not rest more than one on the same night until the final week of the season.</p>
<p>During the lockout-shortened 2011-12, we start to see Popovich move his strategy to the middle of the season when he sat Duncan and Tony Parker during the 33rd game of the season, a <a href="http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=320221022">40-point blowout loss on the road against the Portland Trail Blazers</a>. Ginobli also missed that game with an injury.</p>
<p>In the next two seasons, the Spurs started resting their stars earlier, but never as early as this season.</p>

<p>The move always happens on the road against a good team and on days when the Spurs had a game the night before.</p>
<p>Clearly the strategy is working as the Spurs are the defending NBA champs. So it is hard to argue with Popovich's strategy.</p>
<p>But at this rate, the Spurs are going to have their stars miss a lot of games this season and a lot of fans hoping to see some of the best players in the game are going to be disappointed.</p>

The Spurs Are Already Resting Their Stars For The Playoffs

<p>Several other members of the Heat and Spurs complained about the jerseys, including Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, and Manu Ginobli.</p>
<p>But while some of the NBA's biggest stars hate the new jerseys, they all have the same complaint. As a result, there is an obvious solution that would allow the NBA to keep using sleeved jerseys.</p>
<p>Simply put, the jerseys are too tight and need to be bigger.</p>
<p>LeBron <a href="https://twitter.com/BrettEP/statuses/416007714964123649">thinks they are too tight</a>: "I can't shoot with these!"</p>
<p>Ginobli <a href="http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-miami-heat-lebron-jersey-sleeve-20140306,0,7003284.story">thinks they are too tight</a>: "I got a bigger size...In the morning, I went to shoot and I felt it was a little tight."</p>
<p>Kawhi Leonard <a href="http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-miami-heat-lebron-jersey-sleeve-20140306,0,7003284.story">thinks they are too tight</a>: "I don't like the sleeve jerseys, either...Just felt a little tight."</p>
<p>Beno Udrih <a href="https://twitter.com/HerringWSJ/statuses/416004752854761472">thinks they are too tight</a>: "Personally [the short-sleeved jersey] bothered me &amp; my shot. On a normal shot Im used 2 getting my shoulder &amp; elbow up [unhindered]"</p>
<p>Even Mark Cuban <a href="http://espn.go.com/dallas/nba/story/_/id/10198314/mark-cuban-dallas-mavericks-says-nba-made-mistake-new-jerseys">thinks they are too tight</a>: "Cuban said he thinks the short-sleeved jerseys still will sell but that a lot of fans will be turned off by the tight fit."</p>
<p>The NBA faced a similar situation during the 2005-06 season when they introduced a new non-leather basketball. Players complained vehemently about the new ball and the league was <a href="http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/basketball/nba/2006-12-11-new-ball-gone_x.htm">forced to switch back to the leather ball mid-season</a>.</p>
<p>In this case, the NBA can keep the jerseys. But for the sake of the players and the fans, they need to be bigger.</p>

There Is A Simple Solution For The Short-Sleeve Jerseys NBA Player's Hate

<p>"I'm not making excuses," <a href="http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-miami-heat-lebron-jersey-sleeve-20140306,0,7003284.story">James told the media after the game</a>. "I'm not a big fan of the jerseys, not a big fan of them. I've got to figure something out the next time I wear the short-sleeved jersey...I already don't have much room for error on my jumpers."</p>
<p>James scored 19 points in the loss, making just six of his 18 shots, including 0-3 from 3-point range.</p>
<p>James wasn't alone in the complaints. Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh of the Heat as well as Manu Ginobli and Kawhi Leonard of the Spurs also expressed how much they don't like the jerseys.</p>
<p>This is not the first time James has complained about the jerseys. Prior to the Heat's Christmas Day game, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/nba-players-hate-short-sleeve-jerseys-2013-12">James exclaimed that he "can't shoot with these!</a>" James also mentioned that the Heat's shooters were "upset" about the jerseys.</p>
<p>It is one thing if random players complain about the new jerseys. But LeBron is the biggest star in the sport and the NBA is going to have to listen and make changes.</p>

LeBron James Hates The NBA's Short-Sleeve Jerseys

There is less of a difference between the 2nd-rated player (Kevin Durant) and the 13th-rated player (James Harden) than there is between LeBron and Durant.</p>
<p>Some guys we think are too low: Marc Gasol at a lowly 83, Kevin Garnett down to 83, Roy Hibbert at 81.</p>

Riding a four-game win streak, Gregg Popovich's squad is 22-5 (14-0 at home), comfortably in possession of the two-seed in the top-heavy Western Conference.</p><p>As <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/spurs-are-quietly-dominating-2015-12">BI's own Scott Davis noted earlier this week</a> in his breakdown of what makes the Spurs so good, watching San Antonio quietly dominate is an annual NBA tradition.</p><p>But what is less obvious is just how close the Spurs may have come to blowing up the whole thing and going into a rebuilding mode.</p><p>After the Spurs lost to the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of last year's playoffs, uncertainty lingered over an aging roster. Many expected that their early exit would result in Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobli's retirements; Danny Green was a free agent, and his future with the team was uncertain, too. </p><p>"I wasn't sure this team would be the same," Green <a href="http://www.expressnews.com/sports/spurs/article/Revitalized-Spurs-poised-for-rematch-with-Clippers-6705605.php?t=777f8ba7e4927fc3fb&amp;cmpid=twitter-premium">told the San Antonio Express-News</a> prior to the Spurs game against the Clippers on Friday night, their first meeting since the playoffs. "I thought it was all going to be blown up and changed."</p><p>In short, the team's entire future hung in the balance, and hinged on signing one blue chip free agent: LaMarcus Aldridge.</p><p>According to Tony Parker, Aldridge was the key to everything.</p><p>"Everybody knew maybe we could get LaMarcus," Parker told the Express-News. "There was hope, but at the same time it could've gone all wrong. Because if you don't get him, what do we do?"</p><p>"It was like playing poker - all in, you know?" Parker added. "Meaning, if we get LaMarcus, everybody's back. If we don't, I guess everyone will retire."</p><p>It's easy to look back now and think that Aldridge signing with the Spurs was always an inevitability. They are the league's model franchise, with the best coach and the rings to prove it. But the move was also far from a sure thing. In fact, Popovich may have had to delay his own retirement to make it happen. </p><p><span>"Signing LaMarcus [Aldridge], I had to make a commitment," <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/gregg-popovich-tim-duncan-retires-2015-9">Popovich told ESPN</a> with a hesitation and a smile prior to the season. "I couldn't say, 'LaMarcus, we would love to sign you, see you later.' So I committed to those guys, and I committed to LaMarcus. So, I've got to fulfill my promise."</span></p><p>Had Popovich been unwilling to make that commitment and Aldridge had gone elsewhere (possibly to the Lakers or Knicks had they not blown their pitch meetings), the Spurs dynasty as we've known it for the past decade would probably have drawn to a close. </p><p>Instead, Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard look poised to lead the Spurs to title contention for years to come - same as it ever was.</p><p>"We just do what we do," Popovich <a href="http://www.expressnews.com/sports/spurs/article/Revitalized-Spurs-poised-for-rematch-with-Clippers-6705605.php?t=777f8ba7e4927fc3fb&amp;cmpid=twitter-premium">said</a>.
