On Saturday, Mandaviya said that the government has been working to control the <keyword id="8913021" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="spread-of-covid-19" source="Orion">spread of Covid-19</keyword> and urged the people to wear masks and follow covid appropriate behaviour. "We are working on alert mode to control the spread of Covid-19 and are conducting environmental, sewage and human surveillance. Virus RNA was found in the sewage samples in Delhi and Mumbai," Mandaviya had said. He further urged the people to wear masks, avoid crowded places and follow Covid-appropriate behaviour. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Saturday decided to hold mock drills at all health facilities across the country on December 27 in the wake of the COVID alarm due to a surge in infection in many countries. This is to ensure readiness in the availability of oxygen support, and ICU beds among other preparedness measures in case of a surge of COVID cases in India. According to the Ministry, the objective of the exercise is to ensure the operational readiness of these health facilities for the management of COVID. Detailing the focus on the parameters during the mock drills, it said that the main focus will be on the bed capacities including isolation, oxygen-supported and ICU beds at the health facilities. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also chaired a high-level meeting on Thursday (December 22) to assess the COVID-19 situation in the country and cautioned against complacency while laying stress on testing and strengthening the surveillance measures, especially at international airports. He emphasized COVID-appropriate behavior at all times, especially in view of the upcoming festive season, including wearing masks in crowded public places. New Delhi, Feb 28 () L&amp;T-built Offshore Patrol Vessel ICGS Varad has been commissioned into the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Friday, according to a regulatory filing. ICGS Varad was commissioned into the ICG by Minister of State for Shipping Mansukh Mandaviya at L&amp;T Kattupalli shipyard, near Chennai. ICGS Varad set a record in Indian shipbuilding industry by becoming the first major defence ship to clear all sea acceptance trials in a single sea sortie, Larsen &amp; Toubro (L&amp;T) said in a regulatory filing. The vessel is fifth in the series of seven offshore patrol vessels contracted by the Defence Ministry on the company in March 2015, it said. Commenting on the commissioning, S N Subrahmanyan, CEO &amp; MD, Larsen a Toubro, said: "I am delighted to note that ICGS Varad accomplished a rare feat of clearing all sea acceptance trials in a single sea sortie". The first case of BF.7 in India was detected in October by Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre. So far, two cases have been reported from Gujarat while one case has been reported from Odisha, they said. "The BF.7's high transmissibility in China might be attributed to a low level of immunity in the Chinese population from the previous infection and possibly vaccination too," an official source said. BF.7 is a sub-lineage of the Omicron variant BA.5 and has the strongest infection ability since it is highly transmissible, has a shorter incubation period, and has a higher capacity to cause reinfection or infect even those vaccinated. It has already been detected in several other countries, including the US, the UK and European nations such as Belgium, Germany, France and Denmark. 3 cases of Omicron subvariant BF.7, driving China's Covid surge, detected in India

State-owned <keyword id="941710" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="hll-lifecare-limited" source="Orion">HLL Lifecare Limited</keyword> has paid a dividend of Rs 122.47 crore to the health ministry for the financial year 2021-22, an official statement said. HLL had a record turnover of Rs 35,668 crore and a profit before tax of Rs 551.81 crore in the financial year 2021-22. Mandaviya said the company played an important role in the procurement and distribution of emergency medical supplies during the pandemic, supporting the <keyword id="83655" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="union-health-ministry" source="Orion">Union Health Ministry</keyword> in managing COVID-19. "As a nodal agency for procurement and supply of emergency medical items for COVID -19 pandemic management, it has enabled real-time management of the crisis," Mandaviya added. He further noted that though PSUs were established with great vision, their performance has not always been satisfactory, the health ministry statement said. Expressing concern over the sustainability of PSUs, he pointed out that "financial discipline and responsible behaviour are key aspects for the sustainability of PSUs." HLL was incorporated on March 1, 1966, to produce contraceptives to support the government's family planning programme. While focusing on and expanding the core areas i.e., reproductive healthcare, HLL diversified into other healthcare segments like hospital products, hospital infrastructure management, medical equipment procurement consultancy, diagnostic services, retailing of pharmaceuticals etc, the statement said.
