Congress, on the other hand, has its hopes pinned on <keyword id="39794" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sheila-Dixit">Sheila Dixit</keyword>, Delhi’s former Chief Minister who held her seat for 15 years. But data from the Election Commission shows that Dixit is way behind in the vote count with only 21.3% of the vote share versus Tiwari strong lead with 60.3% of the vote share. Even the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate, Dilip Pandey, only has 14.1% of the vote share to his name. Tiwari is also feeling confident about his win stating that he will come out ahead with a margin of over 200,000 votes while speaking to <a href="https://www.news18.com/videos/india/could-win-by-a-margin-of-over-2-lakh-votes-manoj-tiwari-2156349.html">News18.</a> He also said that the BJP is poised to win nation-wide with a margin of over 350 seats. Dixit, on the other hand, maintains that she will be victorious overcoming the divisions in religion and caste in the constituency.

Manoj Tiwari leads the election from North East Delhi

In the midst of the coronavirus crisis, the BJP high command has made a big change in Delhi as party President <keyword id="2255589" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="J-P-Nadda">J.P. Nadda</keyword> removed Manoj Tiwari from the post of <keyword id="972508" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi-BJP-president">Delhi BJP President</keyword> and has replaced him with <keyword id="2647910" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aadesh-Kumar-Gupta">Aadesh Kumar Gupta</keyword>. An official letter has also been issued on behalf of the party by general secretary <keyword id="209846" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arun-Singh">Arun Singh</keyword> in this regard. Apart from this, BJP has also replaced state party presidents in Chhattisgarh and <keyword id="6359754" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="manipur">Manipur</keyword>. In Chhattisgarh, veteran party leader Vishnudev Sai has been appointed president, while in Manipur, S. Tikendra Singh has been appointed as the new unit chief of the party. Significantly, Aadesh Kumar Gupta has been the Mayor of Delhi MCD whilw newly-appointed President of Chhattisgarh BJP, Vishnudev Sai has been a former Union minister.

Aadesh Kumar Gupta replaces Manoj Tiwari as Delhi BJP chief

<ul><li>Three-time chief minister of Delhi, <keyword id="5267" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Sheila-Dikshit">Sheila Dikshit</keyword>, will contest the national election for Congress from Delhi.</li><li>Dikshit, now 81 years old, lost the assembly election to Aam Aadmi Party led by Arvind Kejriwal in 2013.</li><li>The grand old party has fielded the veteran politician from North East Delhi, against BJP counterpart Manoj Tiwari.</li></ul>81-year old Sheila Dikshit will stand for the Indian National Congress from Delhi in the Parliamentary elections that are underway. She will take on actor, singer-turned politician from Bihar, Manoj Tiwari of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the <keyword id="2146480" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="North-East-Delhi-constituency">North East Delhi constituency</keyword>. Manoj Tiwari had won the election from the same constituency in 2014 and he is the state unit president of the BJP, making him Dikshit's direct rival in the 2019 Lok Sabha election. Earlier in January 2019, Dikshit was made the chief of Congress' Delhi state unit. Political speculators have pitched her return <a href="https://www.news18.com/news/opinion/sensing-tailwinds-is-sheila-dikshit-itching-for-delhi-comeback-with-lok-sabha-battle-1975613.html" data-type="tilCustomLink" target="_blank">as a signal for a possible alliance</a> with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), if the need arises.  Dikshit was the chief minister of Delhi for 15 years from 1998 before she lost to AAP led by Arvind Kejriwal in 2013. She was even pitched as the chief minister candidate for the Congress in the Uttar Pradesh assembly election in 2017, before she withdrew from it. Dikshit's legacy includes a significant upgrade in the national capital's physical infrastructure. Her image was also tainted by the allegations of her family's involvement in kickbacks and corruption around the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Her son, Sandeep Dikshit, was also a former member of Parliament from East Delhi. Sheila Dikshit is on Congress' list as election candidate for North-East Delhi

For 2019 <keyword id="56978" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lok-Sabha-elections">Lok Sabha elections</keyword>, <keyword id="66" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi">Delhi</keyword> will go for polling in single phase on May 12. The different parties are gradually announcing their candidates who will be fielding from the seven different constituencies of Delhi. Here is an overview of the different candidates nominated by the major parties contesting in the <keyword id="4287364" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lok-Sabha-elections-2019">Lok Sabha Elections 2019</keyword>. AAP is fielding Brijesh Goyal from New Delhi. Atishi will face the elections from East Delhi. The deal was originally worth $71 million (£46 million).The IPL has been badly hit by corruption scandals in the six years since it launched, including, as the FT notes, a huge scandal in 2013. Lots of players and officials, including Sreesanth, one of India's most famous stars, were arrested for fixing matches.This summer, two of the eight teams in the tournament, the Chennai Superkings and the Rajasthan Royals, also got suspended from the tournament for two years, after another scandal about fixing games.PepsiCo didn't give any formal reason for why it stopped sponsoring the IPL, but at the start of the month, <a href="http://indianexpress.com/article/sports/cricket/pepsi-wants-out-of-ipl-sends-notice-to-board-saying-game-in-disrepute/">the Indian Express reported</a> that the company had been in touch with the BCCI, Indian cricket's governing body. Pepsi was worried the game was in "disrepute" according to the report.Despite being pretty unknown in most of the world, cricket is by far India's most popular sport, and the IPL is now its biggest and most-watched tournament. It is loosely based on American sporting tournaments like the NBA, with big franchises and a playoff system.Many teams get financial backing from Indian celebrities, and superstar players from all over the world flock to India in April and May to play. Much of the IPL's appeal comes from its glamour, and the short "Twenty20" format it uses. Twenty20s last about three hours, a lot less time than traditional cricket matches (which can run to up to five days at the international level) making them far more accessible and easy to watch for fans.From next season, the IPL will be sponsored by Vivo Electronics, a Chinese phonemaker.

Bringing contestants like the former Bhojpuri actor, Manoj Tiwari, in North East Delhi, singer, Hans Raj Hans, in North West Delhi and former cricketer, Gautam Gambhir in East Delhi may have worked in the BJP’s favour with different exit polls predicting that the national party is set to take home at least five seats from Delhi. BJP relied on star power during the polls, Congress stuck to legacy politics and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s platform was based on their municipal successes. During the 2014 election, BJP’s victory was unanimous with the political party winning over all seven seats. Now, the party is taking the exit polls an indication of their majority, has already planning for the Delhi’s assembly elections scheduled to take place in 2020 with reports of Tiwari taking meeting with official from municipal boards in the city. Before the polls, traders in the city already opined that while AAP was good for the city, they would still like to see a national party in power to represent the Delhi’s interests in Parliament. Several MPs on Monday made a statement against pollution in the national capital by riding bicycles, sporting masks and even choosing electric vehicles over fuel guzzlers as they arrived for the Winter Session of Parliament. The air quality in Delhi improved marginally on Monday but remained in the "poor" category for the second consecutive day. At 9 am on Monday, the air quality index (AQI) in the national capital stood at 207 against an AQI of 254 at the same time on Sunday. "I have given importance to young people this time while choosing the name of candidates. They all are young people," Banerjee said. State power minister and Trinamool Congress veteran Sovandeb Chatterjee will contest from Bhawanipore seat as Mamata chose to contest from Nandigram. While some surveys say that Congress might be able to win one seat out from under the BJP, others see a repeat of the Lok Sabha Election in 2014 with all the seats going to India’s saffron party. Delhi proudly houses the parliament, the ruling center from where the country’s legislatures are made. Over the past few elections, the statistics show that the voting preferences of the electors in the city and the results in these constituencies have been clearly reflecting the moods of the voters across the country. Hence the party that wins from the majority of constituencies in Delhi was only seen forming the government. During 2014 general elections for the parliament, the BJP won from all the seven seats in Delhi and eventually marched proudly to form the government. Lok Sabha elections 2019 date for Delhi

The <keyword id="58687" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bharatiya-Janata-Party">Bharatiya Janata Party</keyword> (BJP) has released a list of '<keyword id="6457266" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="star-campaigners">Star Campaigners</keyword>' for <keyword id="6357783" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="West-bengal">West Bengal</keyword> and Assam Assembly polls. Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> will lead the party's campaign in both the states. Actor Mithun Chakraborty, who joined the BJP at the Prime Minister's rally on Sunday, has been made one of the star campaigners of the party in West Bengal. On March 9, in a letter to the <keyword id="6359191" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="election">Election</keyword> Commission, BJP National General Secretary and Rajya Sabha member Arun Singh submitted the list of 40 star campaigners to the poll body. "List of leaders of the BJP who would be participating in election campaigning pertaining to the Assembly elections in the state of West Bengal (Phase-I)," Singh wrote. Similarly, Singh also submitted a list of star campaigners for Assam Assembly polls. Apart from Modi and Chakravorty, BJP's list of star campaigners for West Bengal includes party chief J.P. Nadda, Union ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Arjun Munda, <keyword id="197418" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Dharmendra-Pradhan">Dharmendra Pradhan</keyword>, Smriti Irani and Babul Supriyo. These apart, chief ministers <keyword id="43254" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Yogi-Adityanath">Yogi Adityanath</keyword> and Shivraj Singh Chouhan would also seek votes for BJP candidates in West Bengal. Others names include Manoj Tiwari, Locket Chatterjee, Roopa Ganguly, Shanawaz Hussain. Kailash Vijayvargiya, Dilip Ghosh, Suvendu Adhikari, Rajib Banerjee, Arvind Menon, Amit Malviya. Actress Payal Sarkar and Srabanti Chatterjee, who recently joined the BJP, have also been made star campaigners of the party in West Bengal. In a separate list of start campaigners for Assam, the BJP named Modi, Nadda, Shah, Gadkari, B.L. Santosh, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Himanta Biswa Sarma, state President Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Narednra Singh Tomar, Jitendra Singh, Irani, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur chief ministers Prema Khandu and N. Biren Singh, Yogi Adityanath and Chouhan. Names of local leaders are also included in the list of star campaigners in Assam along with Poonam Mahajan, Tiwari and Ravi Kishan.
