On behalf of the people of the state, Khattar extended warm greetings to Modi on the occasion of his 72nd birthday. The Chief Minister boosted the morale of the thalassemia-affected children and their families present in the camp. He also got clicked for a group photo with them. On this occasion, Khattar also distributed cards among 125 children suffering from thalassemia through which they can get their blood tests done along with other tests like MRI etc. at free-of -cost for one year by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram. He said thalassemia is a serious disease in which a person's blood has to be changed after a period and its treatment is expensive. The Chief Minister added that the Ayushman Bharat scheme has been implemented to provide medical treatment facilities to the poor, and is a combined scheme of the Central and state governments. The poll of exit polls projected a win for BJP with a massive majority of 63 out of the 90 seats. However, there was only one poll, by India Today-Axis, which showed a neck-to-neck fight between the two coalitions- one led by the BJP and the other led by Congress. He was just 24 when he joined RSS in 1977. Having worked for 14 years, he joined the BJP and went on to become the Organizational General Secretary of the state. As a strategist with both the RSS and the BJP, Khattar remained in the shadows until he was thrown into the spotlight in 2014 when he was chosen as the BJP's candidate for the CM elections. Controversies surrounding Khattar Khattar’s five-year term in the state has also been marred with multiple controversies with the biggest one being the Jat agitation in February 2016. The Jat agitation saw violent protests and unrests in the state as the community asked for inclusion in the Other Backward Class, so as to get the affirmative action benefits. He was also in news right after Article 370 was scrapped for his comments on Kashmiri girls. However, all that can held against Khattar pales in front of the poor perception of the opposition. Ravi Kumar Dahiya to get ₹4 crore from the Haryana government for bagging silver in Tokyo

Chandigarh, Mar 2 () Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday announced special girdawari (revenue survey) of rabi crops affected due to heavy rains and hailstorms in some parts of the state recently. The special girdawari was ordered for assessment of crop loss so that the farmers can get compensation for damaged crops. The chief minister made the announcement in the State Assembly here after some members expressed concern over loss of crops due to unseasonal rains and hailstorms. On Sunday, Haryana's Cooperation Minister Banwari Lal had inspected fields of farmers and interacted with those whose crops were damaged due to rains and hailstorm in Rewari district. During his visit, Lal had assured the farmers of all possible help and also directed sub-divisional officer and officials of agriculture department to assess crop loss of every affected farmer. Khattar orders special girdawari of rabi crops affected by heavy rains, hailstorm

Chandigarh, Feb 28 () Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who also holds the finance portfolio, on Friday announced a Rs 1,42,343-crore budget in the state assembly here. Khattar, who presented his maiden budget, said that the debt is set to increase to Rs 1.98 lakh crore in 2020-21 as against Rs 1.76 lakh crore in the previous fiscal. He further stated that the expenditure will increase to Rs 1,42,343 crore, a rise by 7.7 per cent. Revenue receipts are expected to increase by 15.96 per cent in 2020-21 to Rs 89,964 crore, he said. The government has allocated Rs 5,474.25 crore to agriculture, Rs 19,343 crore to education and sports and culture, Rs 6,533 crore to health and medical education, Rs 6,294 crore to rural development and panchayat, Rs 349 crore to industries and Rs 9,000 crore to pensions, he said. Haryana CM unveils Rs 1,42,343-crore budget for 2020-21

Polling began Monday morning in 90 assembly constituencies in Haryana. Polling began at 7 a.m. and will continue till 6 p.m., officials said. As many as 1,169 candidates including 105 women of various political outfits are contesting the election. The prominent figures include Chief Minister <keyword id="2458540" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Manohar-Lal-Khattar">Manohar Lal Khattar</keyword>, former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, JJP's Dushyant Chautala and INLD's <keyword id="305401" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Abhay-Singh-Chautala">Abhay Singh Chautala</keyword>. Haryana's lone woman minister <keyword id="821757" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kavita-Jain">Kavita Jain</keyword> was among the early voters who cast her vote in <keyword id="142465" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sonipat">Sonipat</keyword>.  Malik thanked wrestlers <keyword id="390394" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Geeta-Phogat">Geeta Phogat</keyword>, <keyword id="10633" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sushil-Kumar">Sushil Kumar</keyword> and <keyword id="157783" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Yogeshwar-Dutt">Yogeshwar Dutt</keyword> for their contribution to her success. 
 
"It was inspiring when Geeta Phogat qualified for wrestling as she was the first Indian woman to qualify for Olympics. It lit a hope that if one weight category can qualify, there can be more. She also has a hand in my victory. A lot of people including Sushil Kumar and Yogeshwar Dutt have played big role in my victory," she said. 
 
Malik will also stop at few villages in Rohtak district including Ismaila village where she will meet her maternal uncle.

Haryana is expecting a spike in <keyword id="396143" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Foreign-investments">foreign investments</keyword> from <keyword id="1334" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="China">China</keyword> after over 100 <keyword id="6375845" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Small-and-medium-enterprises">small and medium enterprises</keyword> here agreed to invest over $1 billion in the state. The assurance was given to Chief Minister <keyword id="2458540" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Manohar-Lal-Khattar">Manohar Lal Khattar</keyword>, who is visiting the country along with a business delegation, to attract foreign <keyword id="6355120" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="investment">investment</keyword> in the state, according to a press release issued by the state government. 

	The chief minister interacted with business leaders and Indian diaspora based here to encourage them to invest in the state and take advantage of the new business friendly administration. 
 

	Over 100 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from as diverse fields as textiles, general engineering, auto components, and IT, have decided to consider shifting their units to the state after meeting the chief minister, the statement said. 
 

	Khattar made a strong pitch for Haryana as an ideal investment destination based on its strategic location, excellent infrastructure and supportive administrative system. 
 

	He praised the entrepreneurs and business leaders for their efforts in carving a niche for themselves and invited them for attending the Happening Haryana Global Investors Summit scheduled for March 7 and 8, in Gurgaon. 
 

	As many as eight MoUs were signed yesterday with top Chinese companies to set up a USD 10 billion industrial park and smart cities in the state. 
 

	The MoUs were signed with top Chinese companies like Wanda Group, China Land Development Company Private Limited, and ZTE Corporation.

Over 100 China MSMEs to invest over $1 billion in Haryana

The Election Commission (EC) is likely to announce polling dates for Haryana on September 19. The term of current assembly elected in 2014 will expire on 2 November 2019. In the previous elections in 2014, Manohar Lal Khattar of the BJP became Chief Minister after his party won 47 of the 90 seats in the state, getting a clear majority. Notably, Khattar was the first non-jat chief minister of the state in 18 years. The Indian National Lok Dal won 19 seats, while the incumbent Congress won only 15. The BJP hopes to retain power in the state this time too, but it is facing anti-incumbency. However, a fractured opposition that consists of the Congress and the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) could benefit the BJP. In 2014, the polling schedule for Maharashtra and Haryana was announced on September 20. Polling in both the states took place in a single phase on October 15. Results were announced on October 19. The term of current assembly elected in 2014 will expire on 2 November 2019. These state assembly elections will be the first after the Lok sabha Polls of 2019. They will also be the first after the abrogation of Article 370. These polls will serve as a litmus test for the BJP government amidst reports of acute economic slowdown.

Assembly Elections 2019: Election Commission to announce poll dates for Haryana soon

After a six-year-long wait since winning India’s first gold medal in women’s wrestling in the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=commonwealth+games&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Commonwealth Games</a>, the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=haryana+cabinet&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Haryana cabinet</a> finally approved the appointment of wrestler <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=geeta+phogat&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Geeta Phogat</a> as a Deputy Superintendent of Police in the state police this Tuesday. 
 
The Cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Manohar+Lal+Khattar+&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Manohar Lal Khattar </a>in <keyword id="41646" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Haryana">Haryana</keyword>, approved a Home Department proposal in this regard. 
 
"She is a graduate and a sportsperson of international repute. She is also a gold medallist in wrestling at the 19th Commonwealth Games-2010 held in Delhi," a state government spokesperson said. 
 
Phogat, who was also the first Indian woman wrestler to have qualified for <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=london+olympics&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">London Olympics</a> in 2012, was selected for appointment as Inspector in Haryana Police under sports quota that year. In March, this year, she moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court for promotion to a post on par with her achievements. The High Court then directed the Haryana government to decide on her representation within two months. 
 
But the wait for the reward made the star wrestler frustrated over the years. "Humein aadat ho gayi thi wait karne ki. Sab khush hain par jitni khushi honi chahiye thi, utni nahin hai (We got used to waiting. Everyone is happy but we are not as happy as we should have been)," Geeta had told the Indian Express. 
 
"While other players were appointed (as DSP) on winning gold in the same event, we were denied this for six long years." Geeta is the daughter of <keyword id="1940360" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Mahavir-Singh-Phogat">Mahavir Singh Phogat</keyword> and her sisters include <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=rio+olympics&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Rio 2016 Olympics</a> participants <keyword id="2449644" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vinesh-Phogat">Vinesh Phogat</keyword> and Babita Kumari.

Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh and the Jind and Karnal districts of Haryana have a reason to rejoice now. These three districts got bigger as the nod has been given to include them under National Capital Region (NCR) ambit. 
 At a meeting of the <keyword id="6426738" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="National-Capital-Region-Planning-Board">National Capital Region Planning Board</keyword> (NCRPB), <keyword id="168340" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Urban-Development-Minister">Urban Development Minister</keyword> M Venkaiah Naidu announced the decision. 
 <keyword id="6398939" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="haryana-chief-minister">Haryana Chief Minister</keyword> Manohar Lal Khattar, ministers of Delhi and Rajasthan governments and senior officials of the UP government were present for the said meeting. 
 
 
Naidu said that a committee has been appointed to look into the demands for the inclusion of more areas in NCR. 
 
"We have appointed a committee which will go into the aspects of what areas are to be included," he said. 
 The <keyword id="6358932" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Union-Minister">Union minister</keyword> said that before including any area, <keyword id="358683" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="The-View">the view</keyword> of the particular state government will also have to be taken. He added that a representation had come for the inclusion of Mathura in NCR which has now been referred to the committee and also to UP government, according to the PTI report. 
 
On the question of Mangar forest, Khattar said it was very important to ensure its preservation. 
 Naidu, on the other hand, also said that there was a discussion on the definition of 'Forest' during the meeting and the Union <keyword id="6356826" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="environment">Environment</keyword> and Forest secretary has been asked to seek the opinion of the <keyword id="43805" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Attorney-General">Attorney General</keyword> in this regard. 
 
He also said there was a suggestion that the Delhi-Alwar RRTS be taken up to Sota Nala, which is an industrial area.
