<keyword id="2550719" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="OYO-Rooms">OYO Rooms</keyword>, a top name in budget hotels aggregator industry, has always made it a point to offer their customers the best options for making their experience comfortable. It has now decided to pilot a food technology venture as well as an on-demand housekeeping service. 
 The company plans to combine the kitchens of the hotels listed under its belt, and the food would be sold under the name of <keyword id="3137676" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="OYO-Cafe">OYO Cafe</keyword>. 
 "As in any food business, we noticed that our partner hotels' kitchen have excess inventory," Maninder Gulati, head of strategy and corporate development at <keyword id="2808667" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="OYO">OYO</keyword> told ET. "So, the idea is, if we can utilise that and use food tech platforms like Zomato or Swiggy to distribute that food then that's a revenue generation potential for our partner." 
 The company also plans to dabble into on-demand housekeeping services venture, with the name <keyword id="3138076" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="oyo-care">OYO Care</keyword>. "That is an on-demand cleaning service. Our area managers can facilitate cleanup for a room as and when a customer needs it," said Gulati. 
 In the past two years, the Gurgaon-based company has gained a lot of popularity, and has become a top name in the industry. In August, OYO raised $100 million in a round led by SoftBank, and since then, it has spread its assets to 30,000 rooms in 130 Indian cities and towns. OYO Rooms knows the way to the customer’s heart

<ul><li>The round was led by Elevation Capital, along with <keyword id="2457593" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="India-Quotient">India Quotient</keyword>, <keyword id="8830555" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="titan-capital">Titan Capital</keyword> and <keyword id="9908413" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="first-cheque">First Cheque</keyword>.</li><li><keyword id="10331594" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Yellow-Class">Yellow Class</keyword> plans to expand its presence in 500 cities in India and international markets.</li><li>The company claims to have over a million students listed on the platform and it plans to onboard 9 million more by next year.</li></ul><keyword id="1464841" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Edtech">Edtech</keyword> startup Yellow Class has raised $6 million in a Series A round led by Elevation Capital, with participation from existing investors India Quotient, Titan Capital and First Cheque. Other participants of Yellow Class’ Series A round include Meesho’s cofounder Vidit Aatrey, Indifi’s founder Alok Mittal, Bounce cofounder Vivekananda Hallekere, <keyword id="2808667" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="OYO">OYO</keyword>’s global chief strategy officer Maninder Gulati, OYO’s chief operating officer Abhinav Sinha, PropTiger’s chief executive Dhruv Agarwala and Xiaomi Indonesia’s country director Alvin Tse. Yellow Class will use the funds for improving the product experience for both parents and children, developing more content and building brand awareness. A part of the funding would also be used to hire for leadership roles across the product, technology and engineering verticals as it plans to expand to 500 cities in India and international markets. In November 2020, it had raised $1.5 million in a seed round led by India Quotient. The company was founded in 2020 by Anshul Gupta and Arpit Mittal to offer extracurricular and co-curricular classes to students between 3-12 years of age. The company currently offers courses across 40 categories like art, craft, dance, yoga, general knowledge, logical reasoning and more. These courses are taught by experienced mentors including influencers, professionals and celebrities. Each class is attended by 10,000 children simultaneously and the platform has over a million students registered on its platform. The company aims to onboard 10 million monthly active teachers in the next one year. Yellow Class’ founders Gupta and Mittal, in a joint statement, said, “Studies have shown that more than 100 million Indian kids below 13 years of age spend an average of 100 hours per month on YouTube and other similar platforms. Parents are actively looking for better, interactive alternatives that would be beneficial for their child’s cognitive growth.” The company claims to have grown 18-fold in the last six months and plans to build new categories of extra/co-curricular classes on its platform. It is also looking to incorporate classes in vernacular languages, driving social peer-to-peer engagement and ensuring deeper progress tracking. Edtech platform Yellow Class raises $6 million in a funding round led by Elevation Capital

<ul><li>Oyo has received an undisclosed amount of funding from <keyword id="719382" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Airbnb">Airbnb</keyword> in a series E round. </li><li>The strategic investment will see both Oyo and Airbnb collaborate on various projects. </li><li><keyword id="2550719" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="OYO-Rooms">Oyo Rooms</keyword> had also announced its home rental service in Japan on Monday.</li></ul>US-based home renting startup AirBnB has reportedly picked up a stake in Oyo Rooms. In a series E funding whose details are undisclosed, AirBnB has invested in the Indian hospitality unicorn. According to earlier <a href="https://www.businesstoday.in/current/corporate/airbnb-in-talks-to-invest-100-200-million-in-oyo-report/story/329283.html">reports</a>, AirBnB had been looking at investing anywhere between $100 million-$200 million in the Indian startup. “As the 6th largest hotel chain operator in the world, we at, OYO Hotels &amp; Homes, are committed to offering our guests and travelers around the world, great quality living spaces. We are happy to have Airbnb as our partner in this vision,” said Maninder Gulati, Global Chief Strategy Officer at OYO Hotels &amp; Homes. Gulati further said that Airbnb’s strong global footprints and access to local communities will open up new opportunities for OYO Hotels &amp; Homes to strengthen and grow while staying true to our core value proposition. According to sources, the funding development from Airbnb comes as a strategic <keyword id="7485728" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Investment-in-OYO">investment in Oyo</keyword>. Both Oyo and Airbnb are looking at opportunities to collaborate on a range of projects, including making OYO accommodations available on the Airbnb platform. “India has approximately 410 million millennials, that’s more than the entire population of the US. This group increasingly makes up for the dominant segment of consumers and is looking for new and authentic travel experiences. We are working towards achieving 1 billion Airbnb users in the next 10 years and India will play an important role in helping us achieve that goal,” Nathan Blecharczyk, co-founder of Airbnb had told Business Insider on March 13. Oyo Rooms has been growing at a fast rate, expanding its business territories beyond India. Having successfully expanded in China and several South East Asian markets, on Monday, Oyo also announced that it’s expanding in Japan with Oyo Life – an apartment rental service. Airbnb picks up a stake in its Indian rival Oyo Rooms

Now, OYO is once again in the news for having acquired Amsterdam-based <keyword id="7586774" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Leisure-Group">@Leisure Group</keyword> of hotels. OYO is buying @Leisure from Axel Springer, the media and technology company, for $415 million. The acquisition marks an important step in OYO’s journey, as this becomes one of the biggest acquisitions done by an Indian startup in the global arena. With the acquisition, OYO will now have @Leisure’s more than 30,000-fully managed holiday homes across 13 countries in Europe and a subscription-based home management service with over 85,000 homes across 50 countries. This will add 300,000 rooms to OYO’s list. OYO has 175,000+ rooms in India, whereas in China it has 322,000+ rooms and in the rest of the world put together, it is adding 60,000 rooms every month. In India, over 15 cities have 200 OYO hotels per city. “If one were to look at Europe alone, there is an ever-increasing demand for vacation homes with an increasing trend of booking an entire home. Through this acquisition, the size and scale of the opportunity can be immediately unlocked for OYO’s Homes business. Today, more than 2.8 mn holidaymakers from over 118 countries book their holiday every year with @Leisure Group. The combined strength of both brands can scale the opportunity multifold,” said OYO’s Global Chief Strategy Officer, Maninder Gulati. Vacation homes are becoming a big part of OYO’s strategy – it had launched OYO Homes in 2017. OYO Homes already has over 15,000 villas and apartment units globally. Global expansion mode In a bid to become the world’s largest hotel chain (OYO currently holds the 6th position), OYO has been fast expanding its businesses in India and globally. In 2017, OYO had entered the China market and rapidly expanded to be one of the biggest hotel chains in the country. In fact, OYO has more rooms to offer in China than it does in india. Earlier in 2019, OYO announced its partnership with Japan-based SoftBank Corp and the SoftBank Vision fund to launch a new venture called Oyo Hotels Japan. It had also started a housing rental service in Japan called Oyo Life. The company also has a presence in Indonesian, European and Sri Lankan markets. Founded in July 2021, Groyyo has been working with MSMEs across South Asia. The company said it has empowered more than 200 manufacturers across South Asia by maximising their potential within six months of inception. The latest funding, it added, will help build its teams across key manufacturing clusters in South Asia along with expanding its presence across the US and the Middle-East. "With the rise and dominance of D2C brands, there is a pressing need for transparent, compliant, quality manufacturers who can cater to low minimum order sizes, fast turnaround times, and price competitiveness," said Subin Mitra, Co-Founder, Groyyo. The funding round also saw participation by investors such as Deepak Jain (Partner &amp; Manufacturing Lead, Bain &amp; Co), Arpan Seth (Partner &amp; Global PE Lead - Bain &amp; Co), OYO Group's Global Chief Strategy Officer Maninder Gulati and Bombay Chamber of Commerce Chairperson, Anjali Bansal.
