Mahindra has always made towering claims about its EVs for quite some time even before the idea was prominently known in the Indian market. The car will have an inverted L-shaped DRL and three barrel LED headlamps. Since this is an electric vehicle, the Funster model will cease to have the traditional seven-slot grille but will replace it with color changing lights based on virtual elements. The face of the car will show up fog lights combining three pieces. There will be a sharply chiseled chin splitter that will sport the Funster badge with illumination. Some of the highlights of the exterior design elements include windshield without a frame, sturdy metal design, finned alloy wheels, and a giant LED tail light running to the entire width of the car.

India’s electric charging infrastructure is far away from reaching the critical mass. Yet, that is not stopping auto makers from announcing and launching electric cars. At the Auto Expo 2020 in Greater Noida, auto makers revealed their plans for upcoming electric vehicles and showcased concept vehicles for the future. Mahindra, MG, Tata and Volkswagen are among the companies that revealed their plans for upcoming electric vehicles in India. Top upcoming electric cars in India Mahindra eKUV100 The Mahindra eKUV100 was launched at the Auto Expo 2020 with a price tag of ₹8.25 lakh, making it the most affordable EV in the country. It is currently sold as the Roewe Marvel X by the company’s parent SAIC group. It is powered by a 52.5 kWh battery that can be charged in 8.5 hours and a single charge will provide a range of 400 km. The three motors on the car can develop a combined output of 302hp and 665Nm of peak torque. It has a top speed of 170 kmph and can do 0-100 kmph in 3.1 seconds. As per Mahindra, the Funster is "a thrilling roadster electric concept with a playful convertible mode, nothing short of being an object of desire". It is powered by a 59.1 kWh battery pack with a range of 520 km on a single charge. Crozz EV concept was the only electric car from the German automaker at the Auto Expo 2020. It is powered by twin electric motors that can develop a combined output of 306PS and a peak torque of 320Nm. As per the company, the ID. Crozz has a top speed of 180 kmph and can do 500 km on a single charge. Greater Noida, Feb 5 () Homegrown auto major Mahindra &amp; Mahindra on Wednesday introduced electric variant of its compact SUV KUV100 at starting price of Rs 8.25 lakh (ex showroon Delhi post FAME benefits) at Auto Expo here. The company claims that electric KUV 100 (eKUV 100) is India's most affordable passenger electric vehicle in the segmen. eKUV100 offers peak power output of 40kW, torque of 120 Nm and a range of 147 km, ideal for city commuters. It comes with automatic transmission and could be fast charged to 80 per cent within 60 minutes. Besides, the company showcased e-XUV300, which is expected to hit the market in the second half of 2021 to strengthen its position in the EV segment. The company, part of USD 20.7 billion Mahindra group has also showcased Aton, a new age urban mobility solution and Funster, a roadster electric concept with convertible rooftop. "It is our firm belief that shared mobility would drive large scale adoption of electric vehicles and hence our product offerings would continue to redefine shared mobility space. We intend to offer widest range of vehicles to meet the needs of shared mobility, " said Mahindra &amp; Mahindra Managing Director Pawan Goenka here. He further said " affordability" is the guiding principle of the company in EV category. Speaking on e-KUV 100, he said it was an ideal vehicle for shared mobility and personal mobility. Sharing the details of e-KUV 100, Mahindra's Head of Electric Vehicle Development Ashish Malik said it would give the thrill of driving an SUV and eco-friendly feeling at the same time. " It comes with a city friendly motor of 15.9 KV, which is perfect for city commute. It delivers power of 40 kw and torque of 120 Nm. The range is almost 150 km," he said. It can be fast charged to 80 per cent in 55 minutes. "It comes with a liquid cool battery pack and also offers the convenience and comfort of auto transmission and many connected car features as pre cool and switch it off and on remotely or even digital connected features which would be revealed at the launch," said Malik. While talking about eXUV300, Goenka said, "it would be launched in the second half of 2021." The eXUV300 is powered by a powerful motor and a large battery capacity ensures a long range. It has a new futuristic design with new features, smart and premium interiors with blue highlights to accentuate the new character of this SUV. It has been built on a platform that has 5-star safety rating from GNCAP. According to Goenka, the company has invested around Rs 1,700 crore on development of electric vehicles which includes technology, infrastructure and products. "Right now we are investing another Rs 500 crore to set up a new R&amp;D centre at Bengaluru and a new capacity which we are setting at Pune," he said. Goenka further said shared mobility would be the driver of growth as it would be commercially viable. "I do believe that in EV in India the primary segment for drive the growth would be shared mobility. The reason is that the EV would be commercially viable. They have to be driven 150 to 200 km in a day which cannot happen in personal use mobility," he said adding " that is the reason Mahindra is focussing on shared mobility before we get into vehicle like eKUV 100 or eXUV 300." The company also has plans to launch Treo.4 of its first lithium battery based three-wheeler auto. "This will have everything locally manufactured except lithium cell," he said adding "it would be coming out very soon". On the future of electric three-wheelers, he said: I wouldn't be surprised if in 3 to 5 years 50 per cent three-wheelers sold in India are electric three-wheelers." While talking about Funster, Goenka said it was designed at the company's own design studio at Mumbai. Volkswagen today showcased four new cars at the ongoing Auto Expo 2018 in Greater Noida. Its subsidiary, Skoda also showcased the Karoq, a midsize SUV. Auto makers such as MG, Mahindra and Kia have also unveiled their vehicles at the auto show. Volkswagen introduced three cars – Taigun, T-Roc and the Tiguan Allspace. The company also revealed the ID. Crozz EV concept. Of the four cars unveiled, the Tiguan Allspace and T-Roc are scheduled to be introduced in the first half of 2020. Upcoming cars in India Volkswagen Taigun The Volkswagen Taigun is the first car from the company that has been built on the MQB A0 IN platform. It will be powered by the company’s TSI technology combined with a DSG gearbox. Safety features on the car include 6 airbags, anti-lock braking system and electronic stability control. The Volkswagen Taigun will be powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. The car will have a top speed of 183 kmph and will be able to go 0-100 kmph in 9.9 seconds. Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace The Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace is a bigger 7-seater version of the Tiguan which is already available in India and is 109mm longer than the current model. It is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox and offers 4 motion all-wheel drive. The Tiguan Allspace is expected to be priced around ₹35-₹40 lakh. Safety features on the car include seven airbags, ABS, ESP, tyre pressure monitoring system and a reverse parking camera. Volkswagen T-Roc The Volkswagen T-Roc is built on the company’s flexible MQB platform. It is powered by a 1.5-litre TSI EVO engine combined with a 7-speed DSG transmission. It puts out 150PS of power and 200Nm of peak torque. The Volkswagen T-Roc features an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control and an in-car connectivity suite. The safety features include ABS, EBD and a rear parking camera. Volkswagen ID. Crozz EV concept The ID. Crozz EV is an electric concept car that is cross between a SUV and a Coupe. It is powered by twin electric motors and comes with the company’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive tech. The electric motors develop a combined output of 306PS/320Nm and can provide a top speed of 180 kmph. The car can reportedly do 500 km on a single charge. It features the company’s CleanAir system and the company claims you will be breathing clean air in a car. You can also use voice commands to deactivate the autopilot and open and close doors. This car is expected to be announced in 2021. Skoda Karoq The Skoda Karoq is a midsize SUV and is expected to go on sale in the first half of 2020. It is based on the same platform as the T-Roc. Auto Expo 2020: Volkswagen showcases four cars, Skoda Karoq announced

Tata Motors announced the launch of its updated 2020 Harrier at Auto Expo 2020. The 2020 Harrier is the first car from the company to offer a panoramic sunroof, joining the likes of Jeep Compass and MG Hector. The BS6 Harrier is priced starting at ₹13.69 lakh and the automatic variant is priced at ₹16.25 lakh. It sports a 2.0-litre multijet engine capable of developing 170PS of power and 350Nm of torque. It is coupled with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox from Hyundai. It sports an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, JBL sound system with nine speakers, automatic climate control and a sunroof. It features an updated BS6 complaint 2.0-litre Kryotec engine that develops 170PS of power and 350Nm of torque. It has a round LCD display that fits well with its classic look and at the same time, offers a lot of information. The Bajaj Chetak is powered by a 3kWh battery that can be charged in 5 hours and has a range of 85 km on sports mode and 95 km on economy mode. It has a top speed of 78 kmph. It is a revamped version of its Ather 450 and brings a bigger battery, increased power and range. It is powered by a 6 kW electric motor that gives it a top speed of 80 kmph. It has a 2.9 kWh Li-ion battery that gives it a range of 75 km in ride mode and 85 km in Eco mode. The Ather 450X has been priced at ₹99,000 and the buyer can select from one of the monthly subscription plans for access to charging points. The Plus plan is priced at ₹1,699 per month and the Pro plan is priced at ₹1,999 per month. Buying one of the two plans gives you free charging at Ather Grid points. It is priced at ₹1.5 lakh and is currently available in Karnataka only. It is powered by a 4.4 kW electric motor and has a top speed of 78 kmph.  The Vespa Elettrica is a premium electric scooter that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. Piaggio, the company behind Vespa hasn’t launched the electric scooter in India yet - but said that it plans to do so, soon. The Vespa Elettrica is identical to the Bajaj Chetak in terms of design and features the same neo-retro look. It has a round headlamp, contrast colour air vents, a 4.3-inch digital instrument panel and smartphone connectivity. It is powered by a 4kW motor and has two riding modes – Power and Eco. The company has claimed that the scooter can be fully charged in 4 hours and a single charge will give a range of up to 100 km.  The Hero AE-29 was showcased during the Auto Expo 2020. It has a top speed of 55 kmph and can be charged in under four hours. As per the company, the scooter will have a range of 80 km on a single charge. The company has dubbed the AE-29 as the first IOT-enabled scooter. It features anti-theft smart lock, walk assist, reverse assist and mobile charger. The Hero AE-29 is expected to be launched in the coming months. Hero Electric AE-3 - a three-wheeled scooter

 Hero has showcased a unique three-wheeled scooter which is also known as a trike. The trike, dubbed as Hero Electric AE-3 will be the first such vehicle to be launched in India. The Hero Electric AE-3 is powered by a 5.5kW electric motor that gives it a top speed of 80 kmph. It is equipped with a 4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that can be fully charged in 5 hours and has a range of 100 km. Other features on the AE-3 include geofencing, real-time tracking, fully digital instrument cluster and reverse assist. The scooter can balance itself while standing still by using its gyroscope-enabled auto-balance park switch. Evolet Raptor - a rotor that pushes for 100 kmph

 Evolet, a Gurugram-based start-up showcased the Raptor maxi scooter at the Auto Expo 2020. It is expected to go on sale in June this year. The company has not revealed any information about its price yet. The Evolet Raptor is powered by a 3kW motor which gives it a top speed of 100 kmph. The company has claimed that the scooter can be fully charged in 3-4 hours and it has a range of 100 – 150 km on a single charge.
