He won the Worli seat with a 26,000 vote margin over his nearest competitor NCP's Suresh Mane. He has secured 87, 453 votes, as per election commission website while his closest competitor Suresh Mane got 21,393 votes. So much so, his party members have already started suggesting his name for the post of deputy CM as Sena and BJP have already started a war of words over portfolios. One of Maharashtra’s youngest candidates, the 29-year-old <keyword id="6380894" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="aditya-thackeray">Aditya Thackeray</keyword> is likely to win his first election, says an exit poll by Times Now. As per the poll, he will conveniently win from the Worli seat that he is contesting. A total of 13 candidates are contesting from the seat across various parties like NCP, BSP along with seven independents. Aditya has been playing an active role before and after campaigning as well. After he cast his vote today, he kept hopping from booth to booth across the city, meeting voters and party workers. He also urged the public to come out and vote in the several interviews he gave today. The son of Uddhav Thackeray and grandson of deceased Sena supremo Bal Thackeray started his career in politics nine years back as the Youth wing leader of the party. He soon rose to become a leader and has contested his first-ever election this time around, fighting from the Worli constituency. The party has strong roots in the Maharashtrian community which lives around Dadar and Worli areas. In fact, the headquarters of the party is located in the same area. His father Uddhav Thackeray who heads the Sena party, recently said that he sees a Sena member becoming the chief minister of the state, one day. Currently, Sena is in alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party which fields the chief ministerial position. Many political pundits and public alike believed that the statement was made to coincide with Aditya’s political debut. But Aditya did not have a smooth ride. He was ridiculed for sporting a lungi, a South Indian attire, as his detractors cited his grandfather’s attacks on South Indian migrants a few decades back. He was also caught on the wrong foot endorsing the BEST bus service, and his refusal to address issues like a toddler slipping down the drain--did not go down well with the social media.

Virgin <keyword id="3356943" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="hyperloop-one">Hyperloop One</keyword>, the company that specializes in building hyperloop networks, is still trying to build a system of pods and tubes that can carry people and cargo from one place to the other. According to Harj Dhaliwal, Hyperloop One’s managing director for the Middle East and India, the company is tailoring their pricing model to encompass India’s ‘super price sensitive’ nature. He stated, “We are in the process of price modelling. We want to keep fares as low as possible to stimulate demand but not so cheap that will drive away financial or private investors from the project.” Good intentions pave the way, but it may not be so easy to implement according to Mathew Antony, the managing partner at Aditya Consulting. The deadline for this project is set for 2025, after which, further plans dictate that the route will be extended to include Ahmedabad from Mumbai in another 2 years. Virgin Hyperloop One is already testing their pods in the American state of Nevada. They’ve managed to reach speeds of 368 km/hr and plans to have three production systems in fully operational by 2021.

<ul><li>The <keyword id="6792700" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ease-of-living-index">Ease of Living Index</keyword> released on Monday says more about the scarcity of <keyword id="6355729" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="data">data</keyword> rather than the poor performance of cities. </li><li>Some cities scored a zero on certain parameters because there was no data collected at that level, to begin with. </li><li>Therefore, the data-driven approach of the Ease of Living index is an impetus for <keyword id="88267" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="accountability">accountability</keyword> and optimal resource allocation.</li></ul>The most recent addition to the debate of ‘which city is better?’ in <keyword id="3658" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword> is the <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/india/ease-of-living-index-here-are-the-top-10-cities-in-india-2839951.html">Ease of Living Index</a> that was shared by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. But rather than being strictly about the ease of living, the rankings also highlight the data sufficiency of Indian cities. A lot of the cities on the list, including the national capital of New <keyword id="66" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi">Delhi</keyword> that <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/india/ease-of-living-index-pune-new-delhi-mumbai-5304356/">came</a> in 65th, attained poor scores due to the <keyword id="6796055" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="lack-of-data">lack of data</keyword>. The lack of data doesn’t necessarily mean the absence thereof, but inefficiencies in the sharing of information. And, neither does it necessarily imply poor performance. But the shift in policy making to a data-driven approach is a forward-looking, albeit a little late to the party, solution. Data dive The index measured the ease of living in different cities along four parameters, namely - governance, social indicators, economic indicators and physical infrastructure.  The low scores of a lot of cities, especially ones that attained a zero in certain categories, doesn’t mean that those services are absent from the city. A score of zero more likely implies that the respective authorities didn’t provide the data that was required. In certain cases, there was no data to pass on because cities themselves are starved of data. For instance, public authorities don’t always have the data from private hospitals. Rather than look at this year’s list as an indicator of ‘which city is better?’, it should be looked at as an accountability reminder to cities. It’s only through <keyword id="387162" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="data-collection">data collection</keyword> and analysis that resource allocation can be optimised.

India’s Ease of Living Index city rankings more about data than performance

<keyword id="6360722" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="ratan-tata">Ratan Tata</keyword> expresses his strong views on the debate over perceived intolerance in the country. India suffers from an "inherently unequal" environment and divisions have been created for political reasons on the basis of caste, religion and communal groups, top industry leader Ratan Tata said. 
 
"This may help some people at election time, but they do not help in creating a unified country," he said. 
 The former <keyword id="6355725" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tata-Group">Tata Group</keyword> chief, who is now Chairman of Tata Trusts, said his greatest desire is to see India as a unified and equal-opportunity nation. 
 
"If you have the ability to study, work and rise on the basis of merit and not on the basis of who you are or how well-connected you are, that would make me very happy for our country.” 
 
"What we are going through now in terms of religious differences and inequalities, that is included in what I am saying," he said in an interview to the Tata Review, the business conglomerate's internal publication. 
 
"We have for political reasons carved out the country according to caste, religion and communal groups... We are now Maharashtrians, Punjabis and Tamilians rather than Indians. The day we all become Indians again, that's when the country will be strong," Tata said. 78-year-old Tata, who retired as Chairman of <keyword id="46894" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tata-Sons">Tata Sons</keyword> in 2012 after being at the helm for over three decades, was replying to a question about the priority issues that he thinks India should address. 
 
"I have always felt that India suffers from having an environment that is inherently unequal. If I could sum up in one phrase, I'd say my greatest desire as an Indian is to be proud of my country because it is an equal-opportunity nation," he added. 
 Referring to late <keyword id="6354478" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Indira-Gandhi">Indira Gandhi</keyword>, he said India had a woman prime minister, "but that was an exception on the rule".
