The notice was issued by Maharashtra’s Cyber wing to prevent exploitation of fans who buy tickets from online platforms, an official said on Wednesday. There are increasing numbers of complaints across online forums and social media about problems faced in booking tickets for such high-profile concerts and events through online platforms, an official said. Many people reported unresponsive websites during critical booking periods, he said, adding that it leads to black-marketing of tickets at exorbitant prices, sometimes as high as 10 times the original price. The Maharashtra Cyber wing found that measures taken by the platforms to avoid such situations were insufficient, said the official. A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has also been filed in the Bombay High Court seeking guidelines to curb black marketing and ticket scalping at major events, in the backdrop of alleged foul play during the online ticket sale for Coldplay's highly anticipated concert in Navi Mumbai in January 2025. The PIL said there are several irregularities and illegalities during the sale of tickets for major events, such as concerts, live shows and so on. Such irregularity and illegality were witnessed in September when tickets for the Coldplay concert were made available on the BookMyShow platform, it said. With inputs from PTI. Police ask BookMyShow to prevent black-marketing of tickets ahead of the Coldplay tour

And he thought he ran for the best position to do that: as head of the Maricopa County Recorder's Office, best known for processing documents, like deeds to a property, in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area.But the <keyword id="11907754" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="arizona" source="Orion">Arizona</keyword> Republican - a 30-something attorney who worked at conservative and libertarian think tanks - inherited a responsibility that has made the position of Recorder far more interesting than he would have liked: maintaining the county's list of registered voters. That has put him and his staff right at the center of allegations over the 2020 election."This position has given me a front-row seat to many disturbing sides of humanity, really disturbing sides," Richer said on a press call Wednesday. "Our latent herd mentality; our willingness to lie for personal gain; our predilection for violent rhetoric or even physical violence; and our extreme aggression toward contradicting facts and people. It's been eye-opening."Earlier this month, Richer and a fellow Republican with a normally boring job, Eddie Cook of the Maricopa County Assessor's Office, issued <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/maricopa-county-republicans-rebut-false-claim-of-ghost-votes-2020-2021-9">a joint statement</a> rebutting claims from a right-wing activist that "ghost votes" had been cast from vacant lots in the November 2020 election. Meanwhile, for the past several months <keyword id="11931724" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="cyber-ninjas" source="Orion">Cyber Ninjas</keyword>, a private firm with no experience auditing elections, has been purporting to do just that, searching Maricopa County's 2.1 million ballots for evidence of massive fraud that would discredit President Joe Biden's victory there. Led by a conspiracy theorist who has made clear that they believe the election was stolen, Cyber Ninjas has accused Maricopa County Republicans of trying to cover up the alleged crime - saying, for example, that they had destroyed key election data, a claim amplified by former President Donald Trump that the company's amateur sleuths <a href="https://www.marketwatch.com/story/arizona-election-auditors-admit-no-data-was-destroyed-01621380549">later retracted</a>, admitting the information in question had been found on one of their own hard drives.The particulars aside, the broader, sprawling conspiracy makes no sense, Richer said. In Maricopa County itself, he noted, "Republicans won the majority of down-ticket races, including mine, in which I unseated the incumbent Democrat chief county elections official - yes, in a race that was supposedly rigged for Democrats."But we now live in an age of "declining respect for professionals in the public space," Richer said. The knowledge that enables one to counter accusations of voter fraud is itself suspect. It's not enough for local election officials to hand count some 47,000 votes and finding "<a href="https://www.maricopa.gov/5539/Voting-Equipment-Facts">zero variances</a>," as happened in Maricopa County last year - to be trusted, one has to have already concluded that fraud was there, as the founder of Cyber Ninjas did before being awarded a $150,000 contract from Arizona's Republican-led Senate, supplemented by another <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/cyber-ninjas-says-received-private-donations-fund-arizona-ballot-audit-2021-7">$5.7 million in private donations</a>. We live in an age, Richer argued, where authority is based on the number of followers on Twitter and views on YouTube, at the cost of faith in institutions and the reliability of election results. It's a lucrative hustle for a few, but "it also has a real human cost," he said. "I can't tell you the number of people on my staff who have been targeted, who have been denigrated, [and] who have been harassed."In the field of <keyword id="11893346" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="politics" source="Orion">politics</keyword>, and now with vaccines and COVID-19, too many trust the demagogue and grifter - the likes of Cyber Ninjas and their "horror show" of an audit, Richer said - over the boring and competent."Oddly, we still know the importance of professionals in our personal lives," he said. "We still send our cars to the mechanic, our taxes to the accountant, and our teeth to the dentist ... And yet, in the public arena, many now seem to favor the loudmouth astrologists over actual experts and professionals."After weeks of delay, Cyber Ninjas is believed to be on the verge of releasing a report on its findings. Arizona Republican says false claims of voter fraud have led to violent threats and a 'front row seat to many disturbing sides of humanity'

<ul><li>The massive power cut in India’s financial capital Mumbai on October 12 may have been the work of hackers. </li><li>The Maharashtra Police’s cyber cell probe has reportedly found evidence of suspicious logins and is working to determine if this was a coordinated attempt to take down Mumbai’s power grid.</li><li>According to an earlier statement by the state’s Energy Minister Nitin Raut, the possibility of sabotage cannot be ruled out.</li></ul>The power was out in Mumbai for nearly a day on October 12, putting the stock exchanges, medical facilities, and other critical infrastructure at risk. Now, the state police’s cyber cell probe has reportedly revealed that this may have been the work of state-sponsored hackers. Sources told the <a href="https://mumbaimirror.indiatimes.com/mumbai/cover-story/oct-12-blackout-was-a-sabotage/articleshow/79312959.cms">Mumbai Mirror</a> that multiple ‘suspicious’ logins on the supply and transmission utility servers were detected during the month-long probe. Most of these accounts were from other Asian countries, including Singapore. The investigation is currently ongoing to determine whether it was a coordinated attempt to bring down India’s financial capital. State-sponsored hackers targeting India According to a report by <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/news/top-cyber-espionage-groups-that-have-india-in-their-crosshairs/slidelist/79120867.cms">CYFIRMA</a>, at least four different state-sponsored hacking groups have India in their crosshairs. This includes Mission 2025, Apt36, Stone Panda, and the infamous Lazarus Group. However, until more information comes to light, there’s no way to tell whether it was one of these four groups or a new player altogether that attacked India’s power grids. According to Mumbai Mirror, the attempts to break through have been ongoing since February — shortly after the COVID-19 outbreak started to spread. At the time of the Mumbai power outage, Maharashtra’s Energy Minister Nitin Raut told the media that the possibility of sabotage could not be ruled out. “There was a technical problem and the Kharghar unit stopped. There was an islanding failure in Mumbai, which shouldn't have happened. This is the reason that the possibility of sabotage is suspected,” he said. Not the first time a power facility has been breached in the last 6 months Earlier this year in June, there was another breach at the Jammu and Kashmir Power Department's data centres. Not only was the department rendered inoperable for three days, its website and mobile app were also taken down. Neel Kamal Singh from the IT wing of the J&amp;K Power Department <a href="https://twitter.com/jkmediasocial/status/1276213262229450752">told the press</a> that it was a ransomware attack, where all official files and data have been encrypted by the hackers. Before the attack was finally shut down, the hackers were able to compromise at least four servers. India is not alone Methods of warfare are no longer restricted to horses or firepower. Most attacks now happen in the digital space, and India is not alone in its struggles. Canada, for instance, has named China and Russia as primary threats to its cybersecurity. The country’s Communications Security Establishment (CSE) fears that these foreign actors are likely to target Canada’s power supply. The US has also identified China as a threat to its national security, with the possibility of an attack on some of its critical infrastructure. Mumbai’s massive power cut last month may have been the work of hackers

Mumbai, Jun 23 () Hackers based in China attempted over 40,000 cyber attacks on India's Information Technology infrastructure and banking sector in the last five days, a top police official in Maharashtra said on Tuesday. The spurt in online attacks from across the border was noticed after tensions rose between the two countries in eastern Ladakh, said Yashasvi Yadav, Special Inspector General of Police of the Maharashtra Police's cyber wing. 'Maharashtra Cyber', the state police's cyber wing, collated information about these attempts and most of them were found to have originated in Chengdu area in China, he said. "According to our information at least 40,300 cyber attacks were attempted in the last four-five days on the resources in Indian cyberspace," he said. The attacks aimed at causing issues such as denial of service, hijacking of Internet Protocol and phishing, Yadav added. Indian Internet users should pay attention to the threat of such attacks, create robust 'firewalls' and conduct cyber security audits, the IGP said. DC KRK KRK

The 32-year-old Democrat is out with a new book, "She Will Rise: Becoming a Warrior in the Battle for True Equality," which is part-memoir, part-feminist political manifesto.Business Insider: You resigned last fall after tabloids and right-wing media published nude photos of you with a campaign staffer. You allege that your ex-husband leaked the photos without your consent after you left him. What convinced you to get back in the public arena, write this book, and launch a political action committee? Katie Hill: Honestly, even when I was resigning, I felt this responsibility to all of the people who worked on my campaign, who had believed in me. The decision to resign was hard enough, but I felt like if I were to totally disappear I would be doing a disservice and that I would be letting them down even further. I decided I needed some time, but immediately I thought I needed to get back into working on the mission that I thought was so important and having the experience that I did brought into even sharper focus that it has to be around getting true equality for women. So the organization that I started, Her Time, is intended to help more women get into public office, especially young women, women of color, people who are in these long shot kind of races, and to engage and mobilize young women as a voting group, and to fight for the issues I lay out in "She Will Rise," which are the fundamental legislative issues that I think will bring us to equality. But the bottom line is that we need to get more women into office and I felt like me disappearing wouldn't help that and, in fact, might hurt it. BI: After your experience with cyber exploitation, you teamed up with some victims' rights attorneys to potentially sue the Daily Mail, which published some of the photos. What's the status of that legal work? Would you like to see your ex-husband criminally prosecuted under revenge porn laws?KH: Yes, I'd love to see him prosecuted and the investigation is ongoing. I honestly have no idea why these things take so long, but I suppose that's the nature of the criminal justice system. It's pretty telling to me that someone as high profile as I am, who's got direct access to the US Attorney's office, who are the ones who have the case — if it's this hard for me to get the resources for my case to be pursued, it's so much harder for the average woman who's going through something like this. So that's one of the pieces of advocacy that needs to happen is that victims need to be able to hold their victimizers accountable. So that's one thing. The second is on the civil side, we are planning to file. We have been waiting on a date for it, for a couple of reasons, one of which is we wanted to finalize my divorce with my ex-husband, but he still won't sign the papers. Because of Covid the court date keeps getting pushed back further and further. So we're having to reassess our strategy and it may end up being the lawsuit happens while I'm still married to him. Either way, that's coming very soon and I think that's something that's important. It's going to be a tough case — it's kind of this intersection of the First Amendment and the right to privacy and where that line is drawn. We expect this to be a tough court battle, but I think it's important for how we set the standard for the way women are treated as they run for office and are in the public eye, no matter what their circumstance is. <div type="image" title="Katie Hill" height="1000" width="2000" msid="77511118" hostid="261"></div>BI: In your book, you call your relationship with a campaign staffer a "mistake," but you stop short of characterizing it as unethical. Would you say it was an abuse of power?KH: I think if you're just to look at it from the outside then yes, you can call it an abuse of power. The reason I stopped short of that is that on the campaign when we first started and our relationship started, it was so early and it felt so much more like a team of people. We were this grassroots campaign that had no shot, it wasn't like I was a member of Congress already, it wasn't like I was even this well-established candidate. There were three people who were working on this together. It was a mistake. If I were to look at it in any outside circumstances, then I would say it is unethical and I can own that. I think the very fact of that is why I feel so determined to put my effort in this work, even when it would be so much easier to stay away from the public eye and do something else. Political consulting is an option that probably would make more money than what I'm doing now. BI: You mention in your book that you believe in redemption for abusers. What do you think that process of redemption should look like in the #MeToo era?KH: When I say I believe in redemption, I mean that I believe in redemption as a concept. I think that people who make any kind of mistake — one act does not define a person and that a good person might do bad things and how do we assess that on the whole. I don't think we as a society have figured that out. Look at our criminal justice system. Does 30 years in prison, does that qualify you as having been redeemed? Is it a personal thing having to do with you and religion and whatever terms you come to in your own conscience. Or is it acts of service, is it something else entirely? For me, I think that's something we need to grapple with and I'm trying to chart my own course on what I think it's gonna take to earn redemption. I don't think I'm there yet, but I'm certainly trying. BI: You've been very candid about some of the most personal and painful experiences in your life. Other young women in politics — including "Squad" members like congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar — have also been very open about their own personal struggles. Do you think it's fair to ask women entering politics to be this vulnerable and exposed? KH: I don't know that there's anything fair in politics, especially when it comes to how women are treated and what's expected of us. I do think, though, that part of what has made our generation of young women running for politics different is that we are talking about these things, we are genuine, and we're trying to be as transparent as possible in sharing our lived experiences that are so common across the spectrum. I think that's part of what makes it powerful, I think it's part of what motivates people, just people getting involved, because they can relate. They can say, ok, this is a real person, this is someone who's been through the same kind of struggles I have and who's working to change it and who's made it through, which is why I talk about it in the book. I don't think there's a fairness element to it at all, but I think it's something that when you're able to, whether you're a male politician or a female politician, I think sharing your personal stories and even those parts that are really, really difficult to share, I think can have a big impact on people. BI: You're working with women who are thinking about running for office or who are for the first time. Have you talked to candidates who are scared off by that kind of exposure? KH: Absolutely. It's one of the first things people ask me is: 'With what happened to you, what's your advice?' And honestly the biggest thing that I say is that what happened to me is probably the worst-case scenario. So think about that and how you would handle it and if you had been in my position what you would have done. If you can work through that exercise, then you will be able to handle whatever it is that comes to you. And it's a lot to ask, it is true public service to say you're going to have to stand up to something that's really awful, but we need you. And the reason that you're here as someone who is running for office is that you're tough as nails. There are people who will support you no matter what and you've got a whole sisterhood of women who've been in similar situations that are there to have your back. So I don't think my advice is the most encouraging, except for to say I'm here, I'm alive, I'm not going away and hopefully that's encouraging to other women. BI: You briefly wrote about how women were among your biggest critics on the campaign trail. And during the Democratic primary, your male opponent won far more women voters than you did. Why do you think that is?KH: I think we all have an internalized vision of what makes a powerful person or what makes a leader. And that's contradictory with the things we want to see in women. Qualities like ambition — we're seeing this in the VP race — speaking up, being assertive, being risk-taking, all of those are seen as positives when they're in a man, but when they're in a woman we often tear them down. That's something that even as women we do against other women and I think we have to really be cognizant of that and aware of it. To be clear, and I think this is important too, the gap with women that I had against my opponent was specifically with women over the age of 45. And since women over the age of 45 tend to be much heavier voters that made up for the gap, but I won by 15-20 points with women under that age. So I think we are as a generation and as time progresses becoming more aware of that and not having that same kind of harshness towards each other. But hopefully we can start to see the same kind of desire to uplift each other across the board. BI: Your district just elected a Republican — Mike Garcia — by a pretty wide margin in the special election to replace you in May. Why do you think your former constituents went for a conservative Republican? Should this be concerning for Democrats in swing districts across the country? KH: The special election to replace me was a runoff, which made it a May election. It was the only thing on the ballot and it was the first in the state of California that was done all by mail. So it was an election that people weren't aware of, Covid had just happened so any kind of field campaign that would've run on the Democratic side was cancelled. Democrats depend on turnout, that was the case in 2018 when I won and that will be the case in the fall. When people don't turn out, the ones that do, reliably, are older, white, and Republican. And that's what we saw in this May election. So there are a lot of lessons to be learned from that and those are being taken into account as we move into November. But, importantly, the November election will have an entirely different electorate, which is far more favorable to a Democratic candidate. So I'm optimistic we'll be able to flip the seat again. And Christy Smith, the Democratic nominee, she's really talented, she'd be a great legislator and she'd be someone who is representative of the district. Mike Garcia is in lockstep with Donald Trump and the Republican leaders. We saw Hillary Clinton won my district by seven [points], I won my district by nine [points] and that is not a coincidence, that is a representation of what the district truly wants and is moving towards. I think Mike Garcia and the special election is a blip and reflective of how hard it is for Democrats when we don't get the electorate that we need, when we aren't able to convert people into votes, when we aren't able to get that turnout. BI: Many people voted by mail in the special election. Are you concerned that Democratic voters aren't prepared to vote by mail in the fall?KH: It's one of my biggest concerns and I know that, across the board, the DNC, the DCCC, and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, they're all working at making sure we're addressing that. But for all we hear about Donald Trump being against vote by mail, to me it's wild because Republicans historically benefit from voting by mail. That's typically the base of people who rely on it most and who use it most consistently. I do have a lot of concerns about how many voting centers are going to be closed and where people who vote every four years, let's just say that they're presidential voters, they're not consistent midterm voters, that they're not going to know what to do. They might get something in the mail, they don't trust it, they might think that it's fake, they might think well what do I do because I don't trust just mailing it back in. And they might say I'm going to wait for Election Day and go vote and then it turns out there's nowhere to vote, or the lines are so long with the limited polling places. We really, really need to be assertive and aggressive on campaigning, not just to try and convince people — I think most people have pretty much already made up their minds — it's about making sure they know how to vote and do so in the crazy conditions we have because of Covid. BI: I know you've said you don't feel ready to run for office again at this point, but you haven't ruled it out. Under what circumstances would you run again? KH: Oh, gosh. That's hard to even imagine. I wasn't planning to run for office in the first place and I would not have predicted a situation like what happened in 2017 when I decided to run. It's hard for me to play with that idea of what kind of a seat would open up and also what else is going on in my life. The job is really hard, it takes a deep amount of sacrifice. I know in the position I'm in now I'm able to help a lot of women who are able to make that sacrifice and who deserve a seat at the leadership table. That doesn't necessarily have to be me. I don't know that there's imminently going to be a reason for it to be me in any conceivable election, but there might be one and, if so, then I'll look into it and I guess we'll see from there. BI: I know you live in Washington these days. Are you in touch with any of your former House colleagues?KH: Oh, absolutely. In a way, you're in the trenches with those folks and especially my freshman colleagues. The 116th Congress is going to go down in history for a lot of fascinating and historic moments and you become close to these people and that doesn't go away. I'm grateful for those friendships and I'm grateful that the restrictions are easing a little bit so we can at least go out and have a drink outside. BI: Joe Biden is getting ready to announce his vice presidential running mate. Who do you hope he chooses? Do you think he should pick a Black woman?KH: I endorsed Kamala Harris for president from the very beginning of her campaign. I know her, I trust her, I think she's an incredible leader. And I was happy to support her and campaign for her from day 1. I would love to see his VP choice be Kamala. That said, everyone we're seeing in the running is talented and would add something completely different to the ticket and I have no problem with any of them. I do think that this is the moment for a Black women with everything that we've seen in terms of the intersection of racial injustice and gender inequity and everything else in this moment. I think it's the right time for that. At the end of the day, it's about supporting this ticket that has to beat Donald Trump. BI: I know you're launching a new podcast: Naked Politics. What will that be focused on and who are you talking with for it? KH: The podcast is focused on basically the dirty stuff that goes on with politics, the things you often don't hear about because it's watered through a lens of secrecy or you have candidates or elected officials who are running and who don't want you to see that kind of thing and that the entire system is built on secrecy. So I'm bringing on guests that are specifically willing to talk about that kind of thing. For example, one of my first guests is Bill Burton, who was President Obama's press secretary for his first term and then left the White House in order to start the first super PAC on the Democratic side that was in the wake of the Citizens United decision, so it allowed unlimited amounts of money to come flowing in that we knew was gonna happen on the Republican side and Democrats had to try and figure out how to do on the Democratic side. So, really talking to him about what that looked like and how what we do compares to the Republican side. And then also the world of political consulting, which is what he does. Mumbai, May 9 () Maharashtra Cyber has registered363 offences of rumour mongering, spreading misinformation,hatred and fake news on social media during the COVID-19lockdown, an official said on Saturday.The state police's cyber wing has been monitoringonline activities to prevent the spread of misinformationabout the COVID-19 pandemic.As many as 196 persons were arrested for sharing oruploading objectionable posts, videos and photographs onsocial media, the official said. In Sangli district, a case was registered againstsome people for uploading a Tik-Tok video about a particularcommunity being responsible for the pandemic and also usingabusive language against prominent social reformers, he said. At least 14 offences were registered by the cyberwing in the district since the lockdown was enforced, headded.Similarly, in Parli town of Beed district, somepersons were booked for a social media post linking the spreadof COVID-19 to a particular community, he said, adding thatthe district had recorded highest number of cyber offencesduring the lockdown.Of the 363 offences registered so far, at least 155cases were related to WhatsApp forwards, while 140 were forobjectionable Facebook posts, the official said.The cyber wing had deleted at least 101 objectionableposts from social media platforms during the lockdown, headded. Mumbai, Apr 21 () At least 251 offences wereregistered by the Maharashtra police's cyber wing for rumoursand misinformation spread on social media since the COVID-19lockdown was imposed in the state on March 22, an officialsaid on Tuesday.Of these 251 cases, 112 were registered in connectionwith objectionable WhatsApp forwards, he said.The state police's cyber wing, which monitors socialmedia activities, observed that WhatsApp was the most popularmedium used to circulate fake news, rumours and hate speeches,the official said.At least 87 offences were related to fake news andrumour-mongering posts shared on Facebook, he said.In a case of cyber crime registered at Dhule, anaccused had written a post on Facebook alleging that aparticular community was responsible for the coronavirusoutbreak, thus spreading disharmony and hatred, the officialsaid.Similarly, in Pune Rural, two persons were booked forcirculating an objectionable message related to the pandemicon WhatsApp, he added. Lockdown: 251 cases registered in Maha for fake news, rumours

New Delhi, Jan 13 () The Department of Revenue has identified 931 cases of fraudulent GST refund claims through data analytics and has now tasked the GST data analytics wing to scrutinise all past and pending refund claims filed all over the country for inverted duty structure, sources said.
 Refunds of over Rs 28,000 crore are said to have been filed by over 27,000 taxpayers so far on account of inverted duty structure in the current financial year.
 The sources said such identified taxpayers who have purchased goods from tax-evading non-filers would face verification and scrutiny as necessary.
 This is being weekly reviewed and monitored by Revenue Secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey.
 The sources said that to curb input tax credit (ITC) frauds, data analytics is to be done on all refunds since 2017, keeping an eye on the modus operandi of unscrupulous refund claimants or fly-by-night or shell business entities for availment of fake ITC.
 GST formations have booked 6,641 cases involving 7,164 entities till November last year and have so far recovered around Rs 1,057 crore.
 The highest number of such fraud cases have been booked in Kolkata zone, followed by Delhi, Jaipur and Panchkula (Haryana), the sources said adding that a recently detected fraud by central tax authorities in Delhi, involving GST refund for inverted duty structure, was deliberated at the 2nd National Conference on GST last week.
 The sources also said investigators in Delhi have busted through data analytics a significant fraud case, where fraudsters created a network of over 500 entities comprising fake billers, intermediary dealers, distributors and bogus manufacturers of hawai chappals for availing and encashing fake ITC credits.
 The bogus 'manufacturers' created in Uttarakhand were making supplies to other fictitious entities and retailers in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
 The raw materials for the chappals, known as EVA compound, are chargeable with 18 per cent duty whereas chappals are chargeable to GST of 5 per cent, sources said adding that resultantly, law allows the manufacturers to claim refunds of the inverted duty structure in cash.
 GST investigators found an ongoing parallel investigation in Uttarakhand to be connected and took swift action in preventing refund claims of Rs 27.5 crore. Through meticulous cyber-planning, fraudsters had created over Rs 600 crore of 'fake credit', which they would have continued to encash had it not been busted. The main accused in this case was arrested in December and continues to be on judicial remand.
 It was also through data analytics that recently, GST formations have identified a few exports with 'star' status that were fraudulently availing IGST refund and were untraceable at their registered addresses.
 In these cases, an exporter with over Rs 50 crore of exports of readymade garments has taken refund of Rs 3.90 crore, while the entity's total GST payment in cash was merely Rs 1,650.
 In another case, tax payments in cash have been found at Rs 51,201 while the exporter has obtained refund of Rs 9.59 crore.
 The GST data analytics wing has been able to identify all such cases involving fake invoicing and fraudulent tax credits, which have been encashed through the facility of IGST refunds, the sources said. DP HRS

(Eds: updates with first COVID case during flights resumption, emergency landing) New Delhi, May 26 () Airlines ferried nearly 42,000 passengers on 325 flights till 5 pm on Tuesday as a traveller tested positive for coronavirus in perhaps the first case during the resumption of domestic air services and an AirAsia flight carrying 74 people made an emergency landing in Hyderabad. The air carriers also resorted to cancellation of several flights on the second day of resumption of services due to truncated schedules following requests from several states owing to the coronavirus crisis posing difficulties to hundreds of passengers at several airports. The number of cancellations was not immediately available though Tuesday's passenger load indicated more travellers taking to flights compared to Monday. Airlines also began operating from Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday while flights will resume in West Bengal from Thursday that is expected to increase the passenger traffic. Officials said several of the flights operated on Monday were half empty. IndiGo airline said one of the passengers who travelled on its Chennai-Coimbatore flight on Monday evening has tested positive for COVID-19. The low-cost carrier said the passenger was sitting with all precautionary measures like gloves, mask and face shield and he is currently quarantined at a Coimbatore medical facility. The 24-year-old man has been since shifted to the ESI Hospital for further treatment, officials said. Though the other passengers in the flight tested negative, they are likely to be home quarantined for 14 days, they said. The exact number of passengers was not known but sources said it could be around 100. Swab test results on Tuesday revealed that the 24-year-old man tested positive for the deadly virus. He was working in the room service wing of a star hotel in Chennai. "The operating crew has been grounded and home quarantined for 14 days and we are in the process of notifying other passengers as per the government guidelines, to ensure safety of our passengers and staff," the Indigo airline said. Domestic flights resumed on Monday after a two-month gap owing to the lockdown with 428 flights carrying 30,550 passengers to their destinations, according to civil aviation ministry data. Around 630 flights were cancelled on the first day of resumption of services, aviation industry sources said. All carriers except GoAir operated their flights on Monday and Tuesday. "Smooth operations of domestic civil aviation operation. Our airports have handled 325 departures &amp; 283 arrivals with 41,673 passengers till 5 pm on 26 May 2020, the second day after recommencement of domestic flights," Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Tuesday. "Final report for the day will be prepared after details come in at midnight." The AirAsia India flight from Hyderabad with 70 passengers on board developed a technical snag during the flight, forcing the pilot to shut an engine before making the landing under emergency conditions at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad on the outskirts of Hyderabad, airline sources said. The flight landed at 1.30 PM as per schedule and the passengers for the onward journey to Bengaluru were accommodated in another flight, they said VT-IXC, operating as i51543 from Jaipur to Hyderabad, encountered a technical issue and carried out a precautionary engine shut down, the airline said. "Handling the situation calmly in a professional manner the crew landed at Shamshabad, as scheduled," its spokesperson said in a statement. The airline is carrying out a detailed inspection of the aircraft and has informed the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) about the incident, it said, adding that it is assisting in the investigation to establish the cause. Asserting that its pilots and crew are experienced and well trained to manage these situations, AirAsia India further said it would like to reiterate that Safety First is a core value and the safety of its guests and crew is the single most important criteria in every aspect of operations. Like on Monday, a section of passengers who reached their airports on Tuesday were informed that their flights have been cancelled. Many people also vented their ire on social media. Aarti Chaddha, a member of Aam Aadmi Party's(AAP) social media team, had booked a seat on Tuesday's Mumbai-Chandigarh flight of IndiGo for her mother who had been stranded in Mumbai for the last two months. This flight was cancelled and when Chaddha asked IndiGo about it on Twitter, the airline responded that the flight has been "impacted" due to the restrictions imposed by the Maharashtra government. She said on Twitter on Tuesday, "Can we get the list of 25 flights listed to take off from Mumbai? Airlines are booking tickets, not sending cancellation messages, cancelling last minute, deducting the money." The Indira Gandhi International Airport(IGIA) in Delhi, which is India's largest, was scheduled to handle around 277 flights on Tuesday, officials said, adding that around 25 flights were cancelled during the day. On May 23, the government officials had said they expected Delhi airport to handle around 380 flights per day from May 25. Mumbai airport, India's second busiest airport, handled just 44 flights on Tuesday transporting over 44,000 passengers. On Monday, it had handled 47 flights. On Sunday night, the central government had clarified that Mumbai will handle a maximum of 50 flights per day from Monday. The officials said the first flight on Tuesday to Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh landed from Bengaluru at 6.55 am, carrying 79 passengers. The Spicejet flight returned to Bengaluru with 68 passengers, they added. At Vizag airport, the first flight landed from Bengaluru at 7 am.
