In a bid to ensure the safety and convenience of an estimated 45 crore devotees, the Yogi Adityanath government is preparing for the upcoming Maha Kumbh. For the first time, the grand event is being digitized on such a large scale, leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and social media platforms to enhance management and security. "Around 2700 CCTV cameras are being installed in the district and the whole fair area. This will help us in crowd management... Cameras with AI features have also been installed in the area. These cameras will automatically send us alerts based on their feed. This step would be in addition to human intelligence. AI is adding to the information of human intelligence. We have already installed 25 police stations in the area and a total of 56 stations will be placed,” said Rajesh Dwivedi, SSP, Mahakumbh Mela. AI-powered cameras are being installed throughout the Kumbh site to monitor the massive crowd and ensure 24/7 surveillance. These state-of-the-art cameras will not only bolster security but also assist in reuniting individuals who may get separated during the event. In addition, popular social media platforms like Facebook and X will provide immediate assistance in locating lost relatives, streamlining the process of reuniting families amidst the sea of pilgrims. This time, visitors from across the country and abroad attending the Mahakumbh 2025 won't have to worry about losing their loved ones in the crowd. The Mela administration has devised an extensive plan to address this concern. A digital 'khoya paaya kendra' (lost-and-found centre) will go live on December 1, utilizing advanced technology to reunite separated individuals quickly and efficiently. The entire fair area is being equipped with 328 AI-enabled cameras, which have already been tested at four key locations. These cameras will monitor the crowd 24/7 and assist in locating lost individuals. Under the directives of the Yogi government, the large-scale installation of these cameras is in its final stages. The digital lost-and-found centres will immediately register every missing person's details digitally. Once registered, the AI-powered cameras will begin searching for the individual. Additionally, information about missing persons will be shared on social media platforms like Facebook and X (formerly Twitter), making it easier to locate them quickly. Face recognition technology will be used at the Maha Kumbh to identify individuals who get separated from their loved ones. This advanced system will work instantly, capturing photographs and identifying individuals among the estimated 45 crore attendees. AI-based technology to be used for crowd management at the Mahakumbh Mela 2025

Prayagraj: In a bid to make Mahakumbh 2025 a '<keyword id="23849655" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Swachh-Kumbh" source="keywords">Swachh Kumbh</keyword>', the Uttar Pradesh government plans to install over 1.5 lakh toilets and urinals across the Mahakumbh area in Prayagraj, informed a press statement on Friday. The Prayagraj Mela Authority has set a target completion date of December 15. All vendors have been empanelled, and LOAs have been issued to ensure timely execution. Special Executive Officer for Kumbh Mela, Akanksha Rana, confirmed that the entire sanitation infrastructure, including jet spray cleaning systems and a comprehensive cesspool operation plan, will be ready by December 15. This plan includes provisions like septic tanks and soak pits. "To ensure cleanliness and safety, all facilities will be monitored via QR codes. A total of 55 vendors have been empanelled for the large-scale installation, ensuring that devotees and visitors to Prayagraj during Mahakumbh have access to <keyword id="23036950" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="community-toilets" source="keywords">community toilets</keyword>, minimizing any need for open-area use," she said. She further informed that, as per the Chief Minister's vision, a strong emphasis on sanitation is central to achieving a 'Swachh Kumbh'. Rana said, "Over 1.5 lakh toilets and urinals are being installed to accommodate the immense crowd expected on the main bathing day, Mauni Amavasya, which sees the highest gathering of devotees--estimated at 4 to 5 crore. This extensive setup, designed based on crowd studies, ensures no shortage of facilities on peak days and continuous 24-hour access on regular days, with dedicated cleaning arrangements." The installation plan includes 49,000 Kannath toilets with soak pits managed by 9 vendors, 12,000 FRP toilets with septic tanks managed by 10 vendors, and 17,000 FRP toilets with soak pits handled by 8 vendors. Additionally, 9,000 prefabricated steel-based community toilets with septic tanks and 23,000 with soak pits are being installed, handled by 7 and 8 vendors, respectively. The setup also includes 350 mobile toilets with 10 seats each (by 3 vendors), 15,000 cemented toilets (by 3 vendors), and 500 VIP toilets. For urinals, 20,000 FRP-based units are being installed, with 5 vendors assigned to this task. During Mahakumbh 2025, millions are expected to bathe at the sacred Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers converge. By visiting Prayagraj's revered temples, devotees will express their deep devotion to the Sanatan faith.
