The Swiss giant recently launched the MX Mechanical, MX Mechanical Mini keyboards, and the MX Master 3S mouse, aimed at professionals. Unlike most other mechanical keyboards which are aimed at gamers and feature RGB lighting, the <keyword id="16223325" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="MX-Mechanical-features" source="Orion">MX Mechanical features</keyword> a subtle white LED backlight, which can be customized as per your preference, allowing you to use it at work. <div type="image" title="numberpad" msid="97255955" hostid="261" sizebytes="27322" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Number pad on the MX Mechanical keyboard&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The keyboard offers effects such as static, breathing, contrast, waves, reaction, and random. It also features an ambient light sensor and a proximity sensor, which controls when the lights turn on. <div type="image" title="Shade" msid="97255996" hostid="261" sizebytes="48808" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The key colors on the MX Mechanical keyboard&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The keys come in two shades – light gray for alphabets and numbers and dark gray for special and modifier keys. The keyboard comes with an aluminum plate below the keys, again offered in a light gray color. The rest of the keyboard features a plastic body in dark gray color. The keyboard features a compact design and is shorter than many keyboards available, even with its feet open. While some may like this, it may take some time to get used to if you have just started using the keyboard. As the keyboard does not come with a wrist rest, this also means that you may not be able to use a lot of wrists rests available in the market. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Typing experience" comment="subhead" text="Typing experience">Typing experience</cmsannotation> As a writer, I spend most of my day typing, and the most important thing about a keyboard for me is the typing experience. This includes how fast I can type on the keyboard and how comfortable it is, especially if it needs to be used for extended durations. <div type="image" title="switch" msid="97255940" hostid="261" sizebytes="38532" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The Logitech MX Mechanical features Tactile Quiet (Brown) keys&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The Logitech MX Mechanical is offered with three key options – Tactile Quiet (Brown), Clicky (Blue), and Linear (Red). I tested the keyboard with Tactile Quiet keys, and true to their name, they produce minimal sound, quite the opposite of what mechanical keyboards are known for. <div type="image" title="keycaps distance" msid="97256010" hostid="261" sizebytes="34040" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;MX Mechanical&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> I used the keyboard as my daily driver for a few weeks and found that the device offers good tactility and requires minimal pressure. The keys have a total travel distance of 3.2mm, allowing you to type easily. I noticed that I could type quite quickly while using the keyboard once I got used to it. The keyboard is comfortable to use, and I could use it throughout the day without any discomfort. Overall, I found the typing experience on the MX Mechanical good. The keyboard is comfortable to use and requires minimum effort. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Connectivity" comment="subhead" text="Connectivity">Connectivity</cmsannotation> If you are someone like me who switches between devices during the day, you will find the MX Mechanical a good option. It comes with two connectivity options – Logi Bolt dongle and Bluetooth. What makes switching between devices easier is that it can be paired with three devices and it takes around a second to switch between devices. I connected the keyboard to my desktop using the dongle and with Bluetooth for my laptop. To switch between devices, all you have to do is press the dedicated button on the keyboard or use Logi Options+. During my usage, I found it very easy to switch between devices and both dongle and Bluetooth connected instantly. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Battery life" comment="subhead" text="Battery life">Battery life</cmsannotation> Battery life is another area where the MX Mechanical impressed me. The keyboard is claimed to offer a battery life of up to 15 days with the lights turned on and up to 10 months with the lights turned off. I used the keyboard with lights turned on and found that the keyboard offers around 2 weeks of usage. Even if you run out of power, you can quickly charge the keyboard using a USB Type-C cable. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Logi Options+" comment="subhead" text="Logi Options+">Logi Options+</cmsannotation> The Logi Options+ is a free-to-use application that allows you to control and customize the MX Mechanical. It comes with a lot of options and also allows you to check the battery level of the keyboard. <div type="image" title="w1" msid="97255894" hostid="261" sizebytes="23910" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Logi Options+ interface&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The app allows you to adjust the backlighting effects, reprogram certain keys and more. Logitech does not allow you reprogram all the keys and the keys that can be reprogrammed are highlighted. <div type="image" title="w2" msid="97256027" hostid="261" sizebytes="17352" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Backlight effects on Logi Options+&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The app also allows you to enable battery saver mode, toggling the backlight, forcing the keyboard to stay in windows layout, among other things. The app however does not allow you to record macros, which may be a deal breaker for someone who frequently uses macros. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Verdict" comment="subhead" text="Verdict">Verdict</cmsannotation> The Logitech MX Mechanical is a good keyboard that ticks most of the boxes. It is a good option for you if you are someone who spends most of their day typing and are looking for a mechanical keyboard that you can use without attracting too much attention. The lack of a wrist rest, the short height and absence of macro recording are some of the drawbacks of the keyboard. Another factor that may force you to think twice before purchasing the keyboard is the price. If you are looking for a similar experience but want a slightly affordable option, Logitech also offers the MX Mechanical Mini, which is priced at ₹17,495. It has been priced at ₹10,995 and is available from Amazon India. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Design and comfort" comment="subhead" text="Design and comfort">Design and comfort</cmsannotation> <div type="image" title="Color option" msid="97280772" hostid="261" sizebytes="89706" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Logitech MX Master 3S in Pale Gray color option&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The Logitech MX Master 3S feature a similar design as its predecessor, with the company only adding a new color – Pale Gray. I received the Graphite Black color, which is quite dull. The device features a minimalistic look, which some users may find as a positive as it does not stand out if you use it in your office, unlike some premium devices that feature RGB lighting. <div type="image" title="IMG_20220706_111602" msid="97280806" hostid="261" sizebytes="21376" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;MX Master 3S&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The mouse is a bit big, and users with small hands may find it difficult to use. The size of the mouse was perfect for me and it was wonderful to hold, which is something people with large hands will like a lot. The weight is slightly higher at 141 grams, but you get used to it after a while. <div type="image" title="Thumb area" msid="97280783" hostid="261" sizebytes="55916" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;MX Master 3S thumb rest&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The left side of the mouse, where the thumb rests, is made of a rubberized material that makes it comfortable to hold. At the same time, I found that the thumb rest area gets dirty easily, compared to the rest of the mouse. As someone who works on a computer for the majority of the time, I quite liked the MX Master 3S, it is comfortable to use for extended durations and the thumb rest area has been designed well. The mouse has been designed keeping right-handers in mind and cannot be used by left-handed people. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Connectivity" comment="subhead" text="Connectivity">Connectivity</cmsannotation> The MX Master 3S has been designed keeping in mind people who switch between devices. It comes with two connectivity options – the Logi Bolt dongle and Bluetooth. The mouse can be paired with three devices and all you need to switch between them is to click on the device switch button at the bottom area. I connected the mouse to my desktop using the dongle and to my laptop using Bluetooth. While I did not face any issues on my laptop, I did notice a little lag while using it on my desktop, despite the mouse being quite close to the dongle. It is quite easy to switch between devices, and I often switched between my desktop and laptop, with the mouse switching devices in just a second. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Performance" comment="subhead" text="Performance">Performance</cmsannotation> The biggest change that the MX Master 3S offers over its predecessor is that it is quieter. This is due to Logitech’s Quiet Click technology, which the company claims has made the mouse quieter by 90%. Essentially, the left and right clicks make minimal noise and are barely audible, which people working in offices may appreciate. As someone who likes to hear the click of my mouse, the feature did not appeal to me. The second change that Logitech has done is improving the sensor. The MX Master 3S features a higher resolution 8,000 DPI (dots per inch), twice that of its predecessor. This makes the mouse quite sensitive and seems like an overkill when most people are going to switch to a lower DPI option. <div type="image" title="Scroll Wheel" msid="97280841" hostid="261" sizebytes="48936" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Horizontal scroll wheel on the MX Master 3S&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The presence of the horizontal scroll wheel, which the company calls Thumb wheel, made it easier for me to browse through large workbooks without having to use the slider. It is very useful for someone who has to sift through a lot of pages. The forwards and backwards buttons are also quite useful, but this is not something exclusive to the mouse. The buttons are responsive and work well. As a gamer, I found myself switching to another mouse while gaming as there was some lag while using the MX Master 3S. This is due to the lower polling rate on the device, which is just 125Hz, compared to 1000Hz offered by most gaming mice. This increases the input lag and results in taking more time for you to target your enemies. Then again, this mouse was not designed keeping gamers in mind and is aimed at professionals. As far as work is concerned, the MX Master 3S performed well and was comfortable throughout the day. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Battery Life" comment="subhead" text="Battery Life">Battery Life</cmsannotation> Logitech has claimed that the MX Master 3S offers a battery life of around 70 days on a single charge. During my usage, I found that the battery life is closer to 50 days, which is still quite good. Even if you run out of power, you can easily charge your mouse using a Type-C cable and unlike Apple’s Magic Mouse, you can use the MX Master 3S while charging. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Logi Options+" comment="subhead" text="Logi Options+">Logi Options+</cmsannotation> The mouse can be customized using the company’s Logi Options+ app. It allows you to remap buttons, set shortcuts, adjust the DPI, program button functions on a per-app basis, meaning the same button performs differently in different apps. The app also allows you to set the sensitivity of the horizontal and vertical scroll wheels and the pointer speed. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Verdict" comment="subhead" text="Verdict">Verdict</cmsannotation> The Logitech MX Master 3S is a good premium mouse that is quite useful for professionals, boosting productivity while increasing comfort. While it brings a lot of features on the table, it is quite expensive and may not fit everyone’s budget. In addition to this, it is not suitable for gaming, which may be a deal breaker for some people. Overall, this is a good buy for professionals willing to shell out money to increase their productivity. The trackpad also doubles up as a number pad once you click on the number pad button on it. Dolby Vision HDR ensures you get great contrast and colour, and Pantone validation ensures colour accuracy, which comes very handy for video and photo editing. Starting with gaming, the panel’s 240Hz refresh and 3ms response time make it a treat to game on, especially if you are a fan of first person shooter (FPS) games wherein even a slight delay could end up costing you and your team the game. I had a great time gaming on the laptop and after gaming on several laptops over the years, I can easily say that this is one of the best displays. I can confidently say that you won’t need an external monitor if you own this, unless you want a bigger real estate to game on. The peak brightness of 1100 nits and DCI-P3 colour standard make it a great device for content creators as well. While most users may not have much use of the ScreenPad Plus, it is a good feature to have. I often found myself using it to add notes, or pin information that I was referencing for work. It is equipped with the AMD Ryzen 9 7945Hx processor with 16 cores and 32 threads. This is coupled with up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 16GB GDDR6 graphics. The laptop comes with 32GB DDR5 4800MHz RAM, which can be extended up to 64GB. For storage, it offers a 2TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD, which can be upgraded to 4TB. I tested the laptop with several games, including Red Dead Redemption 2 and Forza Horizon 5. Both the games performed well and the laptops were able to handle them without any issues. The powerful hardware means that you will be able to run any game without even having to look at the system requirements. The games ran smoothly on the device, even at Quad HD resolution and I got high FPS at all times, even going above 350 in games like CS: GO. If you are someone who plays lighter games like Counter Strike: Global Offensive or PlayerUnkown’s Battlegrounds, the laptop is an overkill to handle such games. One of the issues gaming laptops usually face is they tend to heat up if you are playing heavier games for extended durations. This device however performs well even in this area. While it gets a bit noisy, the laptop is able to keep the temperatures under control. While the laptop is equipped with a 90Whr battery, the battery life is not one of the strongest points of the laptop. While gaming, I was able to get around 3 hours of battery life out of the device. Then again, as with most gaming laptops, most of the time you are going to be gaming at your home with the device plugged in, so battery life may not be an issue for most. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Verdict" comment="subhead" text="Verdict">Verdict</cmsannotation> The Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo is a powerful and feature packed device, offering top-end hardware and an excellent gaming experience. Coming to the price, the laptop is aimed at enthusiasts who are willing to spend a huge amount of money to get a top-end laptop that is different from most other devices available in the market. At the end of the day, if you are willing to spend the big bucks, the Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 is a great option for you. But also note that it’s not for everyone, only professional gamers, video editors or even coders can consider it but if you are a casual gamer, you can consider other Asus laptops like the new ROG Strix Scar 16 and Scar 18 that will cost you way lesser. One thing I liked about the device is that the bezels are evenly distributed. The tall display is great for watching content and gaming and is quite bright, even in direct sunlight. The iQOO Neo 7 has its fair share regarding bloatware, like BYJU’s, Snapchat, LinkedIn, and more. Coming to performance, the iQOO Neo 7 is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 chipset coupled with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. I tested the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. The Dimensity 8200 is a powerful chipset and can easily handle whatever tasks you throw at it. I did not face any issues while multitasking, despite opening several apps. The main highlight of the device is its gaming experience. In addition to the powerful chipset, the device is equipped with a vapor chamber and a 3D graphite structure for cooling. I used the Neo 7 to play popular titles such as Call of Duty: Mobile and Asphalt 9. Another area where the iQOO Neo 7 excels is the battery department. It is equipped with a large 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging support. The device can be charged from 0 to 50% in 10 minutes; a full charge takes 25 minutes. The device lasted a day during my testing with some gaming and YouTube usage.
