According to a press release, the total consideration for this order is approximately Rs 981.45 Crores. The execution period for this contract spans from August 2024 to August 2025. MSRTC operates a fleet of over 15,000 buses. With this substantial order, Ashok Leyland buses will now dominate its fleet. These modern, fully built buses will comply with the latest Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) standards and feature AIS 153 compliant bodies. The order, awarded by the domestic entity MSRTC, is for the supply of BSVI OBD II Diesel Fuel Type Fully Built Passenger Buses. MSRTC, one of India's largest state transport undertakings, operates a fleet of over 15,000 buses. With this substantial order, Ashok Leyland buses will now dominate its fleet. The Maharashtra government has announced Rs 1,000 crore financial package for the cash- strapped <keyword id="58636" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maharashtra-State-Road-Transport-Corporation">Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation</keyword> (MSRTC) for the next six months, minister Anil Parab said on Tuesday. Addressing a press conference here, the state transport minister said <keyword id="488499" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Deputy-chief-minister-Ajit-Pawar">Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar</keyword> made this announcement after a meeting with him and holding a discussion with Chief Minister <keyword id="53973" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Uddhav-Thackeray">Uddhav Thackeray</keyword>. Parab, who is the chairman of MSRTC, said this financial package will help the transport body get back track and will meet expenses such as salaries of employees and fuel costs for the next six months. "The number of passengers (travelling by ST buses) is increasing by the day, and with the cooperation of staffers, the MSRTC's finances will be brought back on track. The problems will be resolved with the state's financial assistance," Parab said. The transport body had suffered revenue losses of around Rs 3,000 crore during the COVID-19 lockdown period, Parab said, adding that this in turn resulted in pending salaries. As announced a day before, the MSRTC has disbursed the pending salary of one month and festival advance to employees on Monday, and will pay pending salaries of remaining two months before Diwali. "The state government has agreed to pay state transport employees pending salaries till October 30, before Diwali," Parab said. MSRTC staff unions have claimed that two employees committed suicides at Jalgoan and Ratnagiri districts in the last two days, allegedly due to non-payment of salaries. The minister, however, refuted media reports that the MSRTC had acted only after these suicides, and appealed to employees not to take any extreme steps. The MSRTC is one of the biggest road transport undertakings of the county with a fleet of nearly 18,000 buses and around one lakh employees. The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will unveil a new state transport route of its prestigious Shivneri Volvo and e-Shivneri buses from the MTHL, or Atal Setu from February 20 on an experimental basis. The MSRTC will operate two new routes -- from Pune Station to <keyword id="19911435" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mantralaya" source="keywords">Mantralaya</keyword> (<keyword id="20237574" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nariman-point" source="keywords">Nariman Point</keyword>) at 6.30 a.m. and another from Swargate (Pune) to Dadar at 7 a.m., which will be run via the MTHL. The return journey will commence on the same route at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and there will be a saving of around one hour both ways, benefitting the people of the state capital and the state's cultural- academic and IT capital, around 155 kms away. The MSRTC Divisional Commissioner Kailash Patil informed that there will be no change in the ticket fares, and urged the people commuting between the two cities to take advantage of the new routes with advance bookings on its site or app. Presently, the ST buses take over five-six hours, depending on the traffic density en route in both directions to cover the distance between Mumbai-Pune. However, this is expected to be slashed to about four hours in each direction, through the new route on the MTH, India's longest sea bridge, inaugurated by Prime Minister <keyword id="19895781" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="narendra-modi" source="keywords">Narendra Modi</keyword> on January 12.

Mumbai-Pune to get 'closer' with transport services via new sea bridge

Mumbai, Mar 8 () Formation of a women's battalion of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) and concession in registration charges if property is transferred in woman's name were among the measures announced by the Maharashtra government on International Women's Day. The announcements were made by Finance Minister Ajit Pawar while presenting the Budget for 2012-22 in the Assembly. "On the occasion of Women's day, I announce formation of the first women's battalion of the SRPF in the country," he said. Under the 'Rajmata Jijau Griha-Swamini Yojana', registration of property in the name of the woman of the family will be encouraged, he said. "Woman gives a meaning to the house and it is not wrong for her to expect ownership in the property," Pawar said. "Therefore, a concession (of 1 per cent in stamp duty) will be given in the prevailing rates from April 1 if the registration of the property is done in the name of the woman," he said. An outlay of Rs 2,247 crore has been proposed for the Women and Child Development Department, while Rs 1,398.66 crore will be received from the Central government. The total outlay for the Department will be Rs 3,637 crore. Girl students in rural areas will be able to travel to schools and colleges free by state transport buses, Pawar announced. While 1,500 environment-friendly CNG and hybrid fuel buses will be provided to state transporter MSRTC, additional special buses for women will be provided under the Tejasvini Yojna in metro cities. For women, Maha Budget offers stamp duty concession, special SRPF battalion

A spokesperson of the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), which operates a fleet of buses in Mumbai and metropolitan region, said almost 85% of the scheduled buses plied on roads. Bharat Bandh: Public transport services in Mumbai, other parts of Maharashtra almost unaffected

Mumbai, May 15 () With 933 new patients beingdetected, the number of coronavirus cases in Mumbai reached17,512 and death toll increased to 655 with 34 more deaths onFriday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.334 patients were also discharged from hospitalsduring the day, taking the number of recovered patients to4,568.On the other hand 650 suspected patients were admittedto hospitals.Of 933 new positive cases, 231 had come to lightduring tests at various labs between May 11 and 12 but werecollated on Friday, the BMC said.On Thursday, the city had recorded 998 coronaviruscases, highest in a day.The 34 deaths reported on Friday included 10 deathswhich took place between May 10-12, the BMC said.Sixteen of these patients were suffering from co-morbidities like diabetes, hypertension and blood pressure.The civic body said it has deployed 80 buses of theBrihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), the civicbus service; and 15 buses of Maharashtra State Road TransportCorporation (MSRTC) for transfer of patients to COVID CareCenters (CCC). BEST buses and vehicles provided by the TransportCommissioner are being modified for transferring asymptomaticand mild-symptom patients, said a BEST release.Drivers and helpers on these buses will be providedwith one week's supply of Personal Protective Equipment inadvance.
