From Kia Motor’s ad for Seltos to Samsung’s Good Vibes App ad, these are ads India watched the most in 2019 according to YouTube's ad leaderboard

<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Birla+Corporation+">Birla Corporation</a> announced on Monday that it would acquire two cement units of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Lafarge+">Lafarge</a> India in <keyword id="6360371" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Jharkhand">Jharkhand</keyword> and Chattisgargh. These units would be sold through a slump sale for an enterprise value of Rs 5,000 crore. 
 The French company has decided to sell its units to conclude its mega global merger with <keyword id="1763424" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Holcim-Ltd">Holcim Ltd</keyword>, reported the Economic times. 
 
The transaction would be funded through existing cash reserves and incremental debt, and is subject to approval of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Competition+Commission+of+India">Competition Commission of India</a>. 
 <keyword id="62363" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Birla-Corp">Birla Corp</keyword> will acquire an integrated cement unit at Sonadih, a cement grinding unit at Jojobera, along with Concreto and PSC brands. The plants have a total cement capacity of 5.15 million tonnes per annum (mtpa). 
 
"The acquisition business has a demonstrated track record of operational and commercial excellence with profitability amongst the highest in the industry aided by raw material linkages, strong distribution networks and excellent brand loyalty in the attractive Eastern India <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=cement+market">cement market</a>," the company said in a statement. 
 
After the completion of this <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=transaction">transaction</a>, Birla Corp will consolidate its position in the east where demand supply scenario and outlook continue to remain buoyant. 
 Birla Corp, established in 1919, is part of the <keyword id="142702" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="MP-Birla-Group">MP Birla Group</keyword> with presence across cement and jute; cement constitutes over 90% of the company's revenues with a total operational cement capacity of 10 mtpa, it has units in Rajasthan, <keyword id="6355554" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Madhya-Pradesh">Madhya Pradesh</keyword>, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. 
 
After the transaction, Birla Corp will have a total capacity of 15 mtpa. With addition of these brands to its existing basket of brands, Birla Corp will derive synergy benefits through consolidation of its capacity.

Birla Corp goes shopping for Rs 5, 000 crore

The <keyword id="297598" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ethics-Committee" source="Orion">Ethics Committee</keyword> of the <keyword id="6355187" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="lok-sabha" source="Orion">Lok Sabha</keyword> has summoned Trinamool Congress MP <keyword id="326914" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="mahua-moitra" source="Orion">Mahua Moitra</keyword> to appear before it on October 31 in connection with the cash-for-query allegation against her. On Thursday, BJP leader <keyword id="294500" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nishikant-Dubey" source="Orion">Nishikant Dubey</keyword>, who had lodged a complaint against Mahua Moitra with the Lok Sabha Speaker, and advocate Jay Anant Dehadrai appeared before the Ethics Committee chaired by Vinod Sonkar and recorded their statements. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had referred the matter to the Ethics Committee for investigation. The panel had summoned Dubey and the advocate over their allegations against Mahua Moitra of "cash for Parliament questions". Dubey said the advocate, once close to Moitra before having a fallout, has shared "irrefutable evidence of bribes exchanged" between her and businessman Darshan Hiranandani to target the Adani Group and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The fiery TMC member has dismissed the charges as a "jilted ex's lies", a reference to Dehadrai, accused the Adani Group of behind them to target her as she has been relentless in raising questions of the conglomerate's practices and transactions. In his letter to the Speaker, Dubey said 50 of 61 questions she asked in Lok Sabha till recently were focused on the Adani Group. In a signed affidavit, Hiranandani, the CEO of real estate-to-energy eponymous group who allegedly paid her to raise questions in Parliament, has admitted that the TMC leader targeted Gautam Adani to "malign and embarrass" Modi whose impeccable reputation gave opposition no opportunity to attack him.

"I can't comment about anybody else. It is a free country; anybody can say what they like. There are consequences to things that people say and at the appropriate time, I will certainly come out and explain what has happened. I will come out with the truth. I am not afraid of anybody; I don't get bullied by anybody. If somebody is trying to alter the narrative by trying to play the victim, the whole country is watching. I think the public is very intelligent, they know what is happening" Advocate Jai Dehadrai said. "The matter is sub-judice. It would be very inappropriate for me to say anything about a sub-judice matter before the Court. I can say nothing about it. This matter is extremely serious and I think the appropriate authority which is meant to deal with this issue is working. They will determine the basis of whatever material is produced before them. So I have absolutely no comment to make. I think decorum demands that the process is conducted properly, " he added. Meanwhile, facing 'Cash for Query' allegations, Trinamool Congress MP <keyword id="326914" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mahua-moitra" source="Orion">Mahua Moitra</keyword> is scheduled to appear today before the Lok Sabha <keyword id="297598" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ethics-committee" source="Orion">Ethics Committee</keyword> that is probing the case. Ahead of her appearance before the Committee, Mahua Moitra, in a letter to the panel said that she will appear before it for the hearing on November 2-- the summoned date. She asked for permission to cross-examine the alleged 'bribe giver' Darshan Hiranandand the complainant, Advocate Jai Dehadrai. Mahua Moitra in her letter also questioned the jurisdiction of the Ethics Committee to probe alleged criminality. The TMC MP is facing 'Cash for Query' allegations by Bharatiya Janata Party MP Nishikant Dubey, who alleged that Moitra had taken bribes from Dubai-based businessman Hiranandani to raise questions in Parliament to target the Adani Group. Dubey also wrote a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, titled "Re-emergence of nasty 'Cash for Query' in Parliament", seeking a probe into the matter. He also claimed that Advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai had provided him with proof of alleged bribes. The BJP MP and the complainant Jai Dehadrai had appeared before the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee on October 26 to provide oral evidence of their allegations.

Facing 'cash for query' allegations, <keyword id="26422" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tmc" source="Orion">TMC</keyword> MP <keyword id="326914" type="General" weightage="90" keywordseo="Mahua-Moitra" source="Orion">Mahua Moitra</keyword> has written to the Lok Sabha <keyword id="297598" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ethics-committee" source="Orion">Ethics Committee</keyword> that she will appear before it for the hearing on November 2-- the summoned date-- and has asked for permission to cross-examine the alleged 'bribe giver' <keyword id="291429" type="General" weightage="60" keywordseo="darshan-hiranandani" source="Orion">Darshan Hiranandani</keyword> the complainant, Advocate <keyword id="19343373" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="jai-dehadrai" source="Orion">Jai Dehadrai</keyword>. The TMC Lok Sabha MP on Wednesday made public her letter to the Ethics Committee Chairman and BJP MP Vinod Kumar Sonkar. Posting the two-page letter on her X handle, Moitra said, "Since the Since Ethics Committee deemed it fit to release my summons to the media I think it is important I too release my letter to the Committee before my "hearing" tomorrow." In her letter, Moitra alleged that Advocate Dehadrai had provided no documentary evidence to back his allegations in either his written complaint and neither could he provide any evidence in his oral hearing. "In keeping with the principles of natural justice I wish to exercise my right to cross-examine Dehadrai," she wrote in her letter to the Committee. "In light of the seriousness of the allegations, it is imperative that the alleged 'bribe-giver' Darshan Hiranandani, who has given a 'Suo-Motu' affidavit to the Committee with scant details and no documentary evidence whatsoever, be called to depose before the Committee and provide the said evidence in the form of a documented itemised inventory with amounts, date etc" she further wrote. "I wish to place on record that in keeping with the principles of natural Justice I wish to exercise my right to cross-examine Hiranandani," she added. Moitra had asked the Committee to answer in writing and place on record their decision to either allow or disallow such cross-examination. Moreover, the TMC MP also raised concerns over the 'double-standards' of the Ethics Committee and highlighted that the panel is adopting a different approach in the case of BJP MP Ramesh Biduri, who she says has a very serious complaint of hate speech. "In direct contrast, a very different approach has been adopted in the case of Shri Ramesh Biduri, MP, BJP who has a very serious complaint of hate speech (which was openly made on the floor of the House) pending against him in the Privileges and Ethics branch made by a Hon'ble member of this same Committee, Shri Danish Ali, MP. Biduri was summoned on October 10, 2023 to provide oral evidence and informed the Committee that he was away campaigning in Rajasthan and would not be attending. No further date of his hearing has been given so far. I wish to place on record that these double-standards reek of political motives and do little to enhance the credibility of the Privileges &amp; Ethics Branch," Moitra said in the letter. The TMC MP also questioned the jurisdiction of the committee in investigating alleged criminality. Mahua Moitra is facing 'cash for query' allegations by Bharatiya Janata Party MP Nishikant Dubey, who alleged that Moitra had allegedly taken bribes from Dubai-based businessman Hiranandani to raise questions in Parliament to target the Adani Group. Dubey also wrote a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, titled "Re-emergence of nasty 'Cash for Query' in Parliament", seeking a probe into the matter. He also claimed that Advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai had provided him with proof of alleged bribes. The BJP MP and the complainant Dehadrai had appeared before the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee on October 26 to provide oral evidence. The Committee, hearing the matter, also asked Moitra to appear on October 31. Later, she requested a hearing date after November 5 citing pre-scheduled programmes but was denied an extension beyond November 2.

New <keyword id="66" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi">Delhi</keyword>, Seeking to break the deadlock over protests against <keyword id="10002582" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="new-farm-laws">new farm laws</keyword>, the government on Saturday told representatives of agitating farmers that they are ready to address all their concerns with an open mind, sources said. At the beginning of the fifth round of talks here at Vigyan Bhawan, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar told a group of 40 representatives of various farmer unions that the government is committed to cordial talks and welcomed all positive feedback on the new farm laws, sources said. Later, Minister of State for Commerce Som Parkash, an MP from Punjab, addressed the leaders in Punjabi and said the government understands the sentiments of Punjab. "We are ready to address all your concerns with an open mind," a source quoted Parkash as telling the union leaders. The talks between the government and the protesting unions began around 2.30 pm and was also attended by Railway, Commerce and Food Minister Piyush Goyal. In his opening remarks, Tomar, who is leading the talks for the Centre, said the government is committed to "peaceful talks with farmers' leaders and does not intend to hurt farmers' sentiments". The agriculture minister welcomed feedback on the three farm laws, while agriculture secretary Sanjay Agarwal summarised the proceedings of the previous four rounds of talks with farmer unions during the meeting, sources said. The two sides are believed to have discussed contentious issues like provision of dispute resolution and registration of traders in proposed private mandis under the new laws. Ahead of the meeting, Tomar and Goyal, along with senior union ministers Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah, had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to deliberate over proposals likely to be made to the agitating groups. Modi's decision to hold deliberations with Union ministers, who have so far been the face of the Centre's efforts to end the farmers' agitation, signifies the importance the prime minister has attached to defuse the crisis, sources said. On Thursday, talks between the Union ministers and a representative group of thousands of agitating farmers had failed to yield any resolution, as the union leaders stuck to their demand for the repeal of new farm laws despite the government offering to "discuss and consider with an open mind" some key points of concern raised by farmers in the three new laws. Farmers on Friday announced a 'Bharat Bandh' on December 8 and threatened to intensify their agitation and block more roads leading to the national capital if the government does not accept their demands. Enacted in September, the three farm laws have been presented by the government as major reforms in the agriculture sector that will remove the middlemen and allow farmers to sell anywhere in the country. However, the protesting farmers have expressed apprehension that the new laws would pave the way for eliminating the safety cushion of <keyword id="76332" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Minimum-Support-Price">Minimum Support Price</keyword> and scrap the mandis, leaving them at the mercy of big corporates. The Centre has maintained the MSP and mandi systems would continue and would be rather further improved and strengthened. Undeterred by the winter chill, thousands of farmers have stayed put at various border points of Delhi for the past nine days as part of their protest against the Centre's farm laws. Before the start of the meeting, an All India Kisan Sabha functionary said only repealing of the new farm laws will end the stalemate. "At this juncture, we have transport unions, retail businesses and other associated groups who have shown solidarity with us. Our movement is not just about farmers," AIKS finance secretary Krishna Prasad said. Outside the meeting venue, employees of the Indian Tourist Transporters Association (ITTA), which has supplied vehicles for the transit movement of the protesting farmers, were seen holding a banner which read 'We support farmers' and shouting slogans backing the peasants' agitation. "I belong to a farmer's family. I can relate to their fears. We had farmland at Mahipalpur and now you see T-3 terminal out there. We are supporting the protesting farmers in their cause," IITA president Satish Sehrawat told . He said the association is providing transportation facility to the farmers since their first meeting. Bharatiya Kisan Union (Rajewal) state general secretary Onkar Singh Agaul said: "Our demand remains the same that the government should withdraw all three farm laws. We want MSP should be guaranteed through law". He also sought scrapping of electricity amendment law and an ordinance on stubble burning. BJP leader from Punjab Surjit Kumar Jayani, while entering Vigyan Bhawan along with his party colleague Harjeet Singh Grewal, hoped the issue will be resolved soon.
