A special CBI court hearing the Babri mosque demolition case will pronounce its judgment on September 30. Judge SK Yadav has directed all accused to remain present in the court on the day of judgment. Prominent among the 32 accused are former deputy prime minister L K Advani and BJP leaders M M Joshi, <keyword id="6361634" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kalyan-Singh">Kalyan Singh</keyword>, Uma Bharti and Vinay Katiyar. CBI counsel Lalit Singh told that arguments of the defence and prosecution concluded on September 1 and thereafter the special judge started writing the judgment. The CBI has produced 351 witnesses and about 600 documentary evidence before the court. The Babri mosque in Ayodhya was demolished by karsevaks on December 6, 1992. CBI court directs LK Advani, MM Joshi, Kalyan Singh and other BJP leaders to be present for Babri Masjid demolition case verdict on September 30

The early winter air hangs heavy and the smell of fresh paint mixes with that of bleaching powder, used extensively to sanitise disinfect the campus. Almost four years after the <keyword id="6355192" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lucknow">Lucknow</keyword> High Court shifted out to the new building on Faizabad road, the old High court building in Kaiserbagh is buzzing with activity again. It is here that the special CBI court will pronounce its verdict in the <keyword id="445212" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Babri-Mosque-demolition-case">Babri mosque demolition case</keyword> on Wednesday. Former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani, former union ministers, <keyword id="58476" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Murli-Manohar-Joshi">Murli Manohar Joshi</keyword> and Uma Bharti, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh, former MP Vinay Katiyar and several other VHP leaders are among the 32 accused whose fate will be decided in the case on Wednesday. Ahead of the court verdict, a high alert has been sounded across the state for Wednesday. According to sources, more than 2,000 <keyword id="6393370" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Police-personnel">police personnel</keyword>, half of them in civil clothes, have been deployed to ensure the security of the area. SP Traffic Purnendu Singh said that all vehicular traffic has been banned the area and only ambulances, fire brigades and hearse vans will be allowed to move in the area. This will remain in force till the court verdict is announced. "There will be other diversions too and barricades will be put up at some places," he said. Besides, security has been beefed up in 25 districts that are known to be communally sensitive in Uttar Pradesh. Special security arrangements have been made in Ayodhya also where police personnel have been deployed in adequate numbers. Rapid Action Force personnel have also been deployed in Lucknow and Ayodhya. The CID, Lucknow intelligence unit and the CRPF are manning the complex and dog squads have also been deployed in the court that has been fitted with new CCTV cameras. Additional district and session judge (Ayodhya matters), SK Yadav, who has been hearing the case on a day-to-day basis since May 2017, has asked all the 32 accused persons to be present in the court when he pronounces the judgment on Wednesday. <keyword id="1223966" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="the-verdict">The verdict</keyword> will be announced in Court room number 18, and it has been decided that only five out of 32 accused will be inside the courtroom at any time. The rest will be seated outside in the lobby. There were 49 accused in the case apart from lakhs of 'kar sevaks' named in two separate FIRs lodged at the Ram Janmabhoomi (RJB) police station on the day of the demolition. Seventeen named accused, including Bal Thackeray, Ashok Singhal, Mahant Avaidyanath, Giriraj Kishore and Vijayaraje Scindia passed away during the course of the trial, leaving 32 accused in the case. Sources said that L K Advani, Uma Bharti, MM Joshi and Mahant Nritya Gopal Das are unlikely to be present when the court announces its verdict. Their applications for exemption are likely to be moved by their counsel before the court and they will seek exemption on health grounds. Babri Masjid demolition verdict today, UP on high alert

Last week’s eviction of the <keyword id="14666" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="BJP">BJP</keyword>’s trimurti – <keyword id="47100" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Atal-Bihari-Vajpayee">Atal Bihari Vajpayee</keyword>, <keyword id="58476" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Murli-Manohar-Joshi">Murli Manohar Joshi</keyword> and <keyword id="50272" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Lal-Krishna-Advani">Lal Krishna Advani</keyword> – from the party’s parliamentary board marked the final nail in the coffin of their political career. Their exit means an end of an era, which should have been more graceful and dignified. Instead of sacking them from the membership of the parliamentary board, they should have been allowed to fade away or kept as ‘honorary members.’ 
 Leaders from the opposition have started taking a dig at this decision. Recently, Congress leader and former Cabinet minister Manish Tewari said that this recent development clearly indicates that the “process of complete centralisation of power in one hand.” Another Congress leader Rashid Alvi said, “The <keyword id="2490292" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Margdarshak-Mandal">Margdarshak Mandal</keyword> is a ‘mookdarshak mandal.’ It is like an old-age home from where Advani and Joshi will witness the functioning of the BJP like mutes.” 
 
Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, LK Advani and MM Joshi were the pivots around which the party was built. Their role in building the BJP is unquestionable. They helped propel the party, from an insignificant political player with just two Lok Sabha MPs in the 1984 elections, to the single-largest party in 1996. 
 
Vajpayee, often referred to as the Bheeshm Pitamah of Indian politics, was the founder president of the party, and Advani and Joshi were general secretaries. Vajpayee was the party’s chief orator, statesman, and the most acceptable and respectable face of the party. 
 
Advani was the organiser and charioteer, who organised movements to propagate BJP’s core ideology of Hindutva. His Rath Yatra from Somnath to Ayodhya was crucial in building the Ram Temple movement and helped BJP form a government in the country’s largest state of Uttar Pradesh, thereby bringing the party into the mainstream politics. Advani was also a talent-spotter. He nurtured a pool of second-rung leaders, which ironically included Modi, besides Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, Ananth Kumar and others. 
 Joshi, a PhD in Spectroscopy from <keyword id="6364092" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Allahabad-University">Allahabad University</keyword>, was the intellectual face of the party. He was the key man behind the process of manifesto preparation and policy formulation of the party. 
 Alongside the rise in the stature of Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword>, there has been a steady and parallel decline in the fortunes of party stalwarts MM Joshi and LK Advani. Unlike Vajpayee, who is ailing, both the leaders are still fit and active politicians whose vast political experience and acumen could have been used by the party. However, their eviction from the parliamentary board – the party’s highest decision-making body – can only be attributed to Modi’s attempt at complete centralisation of power and further strengthen his stranglehold on the party by undermining the leaders taller than him. 
 On the contrary, other political parties are giving their seniors due respect. For instance, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) continued with veteran leader <keyword id="2502752" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Harkishan-Singh-Surjit">Harkishan Singh Surjit</keyword> as the party’s general secretary till 2005 and the party came up with its best ever performance so far by winning 43 seats. He was also a member of the party's Politburo till 2008, when he died at the age of 92. Even in the Congress, where many leaders complain of being sidelined to give way to Rahul Gandhi, <keyword id="219946" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Motilal-Vora">Motilal Vora</keyword> (86) is still the party’s treasurer and also a member of the Congress Working Committee. 
 
It is sad to see that the BJP, which talks about Hindutva, seems to have forgotten that giving due respect to elders is the essence of the Hindu culture and the Hindu society reposes great faith in the wisdom of elders.

<ul><li>CBI’s Special Court in Lucknow has acquitted all 32 accused of conspiring to demolish the <keyword id="43572" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Babri-Masjid">Babri Masjid</keyword>.</li><li>The key accused in this historic case include <keyword id="6436232" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="LK-Advani">LK Advani</keyword>, Uma Bharti, MM Joshi and Kalyan Singh, among others.</li><li>This is special CBI judge Surendra Kumar Yadav’s final verdict before his retirement today. </li></ul>Nearly three decades after the Babri Masjid was demolished, Lucknow’s special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court has announced its verdict today acquitted all of 32 accused. In his last verdict before retirement, judge Surendra Kumar Yadav said, “The demolition was not pre-planned.” According to him, the people named in the chargesheet weren’t trying to incite the mob but to <a href="https://twitter.com/LiveLawIndia/status/1311201954371166208">stop them</a>. “Court found that the video was fabricated. Investigative team did not produce negatives of the picture,” said advocate KK Misra after the verdict was announced. Yadav also highlighted that a local intelligence report had cautioned that such an event might take place on December 6 but it went unheeded by those concerned. Only 26 of the 32 accused were in court today. Some were excused due to age and others due to COVID-19 restrictions like Uma Bharti, who had recently tested positive for the disease. Overall 49 people were named as the accused in the FIR lodged by the CBI. However, 17 individuals died during the course of the 28-year-long trial. What is the Babri Masjid demolition case? The mosque was demolished on 6 December 1992 by a mob that believed that it had been built on top of Hindu deity Lord Ram’s birth place. However, the demolition was only the first of the dominoes to fall. Religiously motivated riots followed and led to death of around 2,000 people. Main crux of the matter, the demolition itself, was settled by the Supreme Court in 2019. It ruled in favour of erecting the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple at the location and allocating a different site for the mosque to be rebuilt. What was still hanging in the balance were the two FIRs filed by the police in 1992. Additionally, forty-seven more FIRs were filed for attacks on journalists on the day of the demolition. Of the two FIRs filed by the police, one was against lakhs of volunteers who were seen climbing the mosques with hammers and axes in hand. And the second one was against eight people — Advani, Joshi, Bharti, BJP’s Vinay Katiyar, Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s Ashok Singhal, Giriraj Kishore, Vishnu Hari Dalmia and Sadhvi Rithambhara. Dalmia, Kishore and Singhal have since passed away. Shah slammed the Congress for its opposition to the Centre's land acquisition bill, which it called anti-poor and anti-farmer.

No Congress Spokesperson has made any statement to this effect. What plane is he coming on, when will he me(others), if his vacation is finally over... this all will be discussed when he does finally come back," Hussain said. 
 Gandhi has been missing in action for over a month and Congress has insisted that he has been granted leave of absence to introspect over the party's affairs following a string of electoral reverses starting with its rout in the <keyword id="6355187" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Lok-Sabha">Lok Sabha</keyword> elections. 
 
He skipped the first leg of the budget session, inviting criticism from the opposition parties.

As already said he has gone for introspection on recent events with an aim to strengthen the organisation. Whenever we will get intimation, you will be informed."

 It was a grand run that the show enjoyed for years of clean <keyword id="4578" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="entertainment">entertainment</keyword> doled out to television viewers across the nation. It wouldn’t be a mistake to call it a great tool that popularised Hindi, because even in those southern states where Hindi wasn’t the spoken medium there was a huge fan base for Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi! 
 
In the days that followed, there Dekh Bhai Dekh provided some succor, but the industry couldn’t have produced a much massive hit show till many more years. 
 Much water has flown under the river in the recent years and Indian television industry has come to realise the value of combining <keyword id="6359193" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Comedy">comedy</keyword> with every genre of its entertainment segment.

Then came The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, The Great Indian Comedy Show, and cutting across the Hindi channels it was Office Office, Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai and Tarak Mehta ka Oolta Chasma to name a few. 
 
In the recent times, comedy shows climbed so high on TRPs that channels waged wars against each other to curate shows that competed with each other on the same genre! 
 
The old adage of ‘laugh and the world laughs with you’ is finding a different interpretation in the television industry today. 
 
According to statistics, there are a record 151 million people watching comedy shows on Hindi entertainment channels and these shows are the biggest revenue generators in the current situation. Biggest advertisers such as L’Oreal, Procter &amp; Gamble, Nokia, Samsung, M&amp;M and Vodafone are literally vying with each other for adspots on none of the other shows, but on those which have comedy as the main ingredient. 
According to a survey done recently by a media agency, comedy shows came only second to action thrillers that packaged some live dare-devilry. When they were tired of getting scared, and biting their nails, people preferred to laugh and let their hair down. 
 
Today, every brand and every channel wants to associate itself with comedy for viewer loyalty. Endemol India, the television production house which first packaged standup comedy for Indian channels, is constantly experimenting and reinventing new age comedy shows wrapping them together with games or sitcoms. 
 
Bar the double-entendre, comedy shows are those times when the whole family can get together to sit and have a hearty laugh over a meal. Only, the jokes need to be perceived and presented in a manner that a family does not feel embarrassed to laugh together in those moments. 
 
Comedy Nights with Kapil is another show which has climbed very high altitudes in Indian television; now that even the celebrities and cricketers who were not too comfortable being made the butt of jokes, come to be laughed at, and laughed with! This is a sole testimony that the country is tired at drama. Give them some fun!
