Hector is now available in five variants -- Style, Smart, Smart Pro, Sharp Pro and Savvy Pro. The company said the SUV is available in five, six, and seven-seater configurations. The next-gen Hector has key safety features such as six airbags and a 360-degree HD camera. Hector was introduced by MG Motor India in 2019. MG Motor India showcased its vision for future mobility - 'Drive Ahead' - at Auto Expo 2023 here. The company unveiled a line-up of 14 production-ready vehicles from its portfolio at the expo. Auto Expo 2023: MG Motor India announces next-gen Hector price starting at Rs 14.72 lakh

<ul><li>Even as the Indian auto industry is facing a massive slowdown, new entrant <keyword id="7205241" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="mg-hector">MG Hector</keyword> has managed to rake in 21,000 bookings. </li><li>The carmaker has now closed bookings temporarily as it can’t handle the initial high demand. </li><li>Its bookings had opened on June 4.</li></ul>Barely a month since its launch, MG Hector has sold out its stock in India, and temporarily closed bookings as it is unable to handle the high demand. The carmaker has received more than 21,000 bookings for MG Hector since June 4. It is touted to be India’s first internet car, as per company claims. “Our first product, MG HECTOR, has received an overwhelming response and we are unable to cater to such high initial demand. We are, therefore, closing bookings temporarily as this will help ensure timely and orderly deliveries for our customers who have shown tremendous confidence in MG. We are also working with our component suppliers to ramp up production in a gradual manner without any compromise on quality,” said Rajeev Chaba, President &amp; MD, MG Motor India. The date of re-opening of bookings will be announced soon. According to the company, it plans to increase production for the Hector at its Halol manufacturing facility in Gujarat by 3000 units per month. The top 2 variants – Smart and Sharp – have registered the highest demand, with over 50% reservations for the petrol variants. Interestingly, these bookings came at a time when India’s auto industry is facing tough times with sales slowdown, and subsequent production cuts by large automakers. Moreso, many dealerships too have closed down across the country. The British company which is now owned by Chinese SIAC however marked a spectacular debut in the India market, in spite of its headwinds. It entered the India automobile market with a mid-size SUV, MG Hector. In June, MG Motors launched its flagship store in Gurugram, along with a network of 120 centers across the country. The manufacturer plans to increase it to 250 centers by September this year.

MG Hector SUV stops bookings in India after 21,000 in a month

Unexpectedly though neither of these international brands suffered from what is affecting top players in India. Amidst the melee, Kia emerged as one of India’s largest car companies. It grew so fast that it took up the fifth position in sales, beating Honda and Toyota. In October alone, Kia sold 12,800 cars, whereas its bookings raced past 50,000. Kia Seltos has also been nominated for the 2020 World Car of the year. On Dhanteras, an Indian festival, Kia delivered over 2100 cars. What worked in Kia’s favour, is that all three of its variants are BSVI compliant. Most other companies are still selling their BSIV models even as the Indian government set an April 2020 deadline to sell them. This is one of the many reasons for the auto slowdown. Meanwhile, MG Hector— India’s first internet car —launched in June. It got 10,000 bookings with a 4-month wait period. The carmaker had to stop taking bookings after the number hit 21,000 and later restarted. It also delivered 700 units of MG Hector on Dhanteras day. Both these cars are SUVs. While the price for Kia Seltos ranges between ₹9.6-16 lakhs, MG Hector ranges between ₹12-₹16.8 lakhs.

New Delhi, Apr 1 () MG Motor India on Wednesday reported total retail sales of 1,518 units in March 2020, including 116 ZS EV and 1,402 Hector SUV, the company said in a statement."Both MG Hector and MG ZS EV have made a mark in the Indian car market. Despite supply chain disruption globally, MG Motor continues to serve its customers."In February, our sales were impacted due to the disruption, while the situation improved during March before the lockdown was announced, resulting in the shutting down of our manufacturing plant," MG Motor India President and Managing Director Rajeev Chaba said.The company's current focus is on the health and well-being of its employees and their families, as well as the society at large, Chaba said."In this pursuit, we have also announced Rs 2 crore grant towards procuring gloves, masks, medicines, ventilators, and beds; and are working closely with the local administration in Gurugram and Halol (Vadodara) to support their requirements," he added.Despite the ongoing situation, the carmaker said it has assured its employees that there would be no layoffs and all payments to suppliers and vendors would be completed on time.MG Motor India, which initiated the 'Disinfect and Deliver' initiative to sanitise cars and ensure a near-zero contact with customers, before the lockdown was imposed, also said it has decided to formalise this as a permanent process across the company after the lockdown is lifted.With zero stock of BS-IV units of Hector across its dealerships and factory, the company has recently started production of BS-VI variants. MG Motor India February sales fall 7% to 4,193 units

Customers also get free fast charging at MG dealerships for a limited time period.</li></ul>MG Motor today launched its second car in India, the ZS EV. The variants Excite and Exclusive are priced at₹20.88 lakhs and ₹23.88 lakh, respectively. The British automaker who had a successful launch of MG Hector, is now doling out many attractive offers with the EV cars. Customers who have booked the car before January 17 will get a discount of ₹1 lakh. It is also offering a special warranty plan called MG eShield. This plan offers 5-year manufacturer's warranty for unlimited kilometers and 8-year or 1,50,000-kilometer warranty on the battery. The car which will be assembled at its Halol plant in Gujarat, is available for order in five cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. “The ZS EV is a globally-successful product that operates at the intersection of an EV’s sustainability, an SUV’s practicality, and a sports car’s performance. It comes with best-in-class features and tech capabilities at a compelling price point. We are confident that this unprecedented value proposition will incentivise more consumers across India to go electric,” said Rajeev Chaba, President and MD – MG Motor India. The ZS EV’s running cost is pegged at ₹1 per km, as per electricity rates in Delhi-NCR. The carmaker also said that it has already received 2,800 bookings in 27 days after it announced it in December. “The number of bookings received for the ZS EV outpaces the total number of EV cars sold in India in 2019,” the press release says. Windmill inspires wheels The MG ZS EV can go from 0-100kmph in 8.5 seconds. It does not look radically different from regular cars, and that is probably by design. It has windmill-inspired wheels, projector headlamps with daytime running lights, and keyless entry/lock. Internally, the ZS EV has an 8-inch panel that helps manage the car. It comes with six airbags, 3-point seat belts for all passengers, a PM2.5 filter and a sunroof. The engine is rated at 141 BHP and 353Nm torque. MG claims that the ZS EV offers a range of up to 340km. MG has also set up fast chargers at its dealerships in the five cities mentioned above. These fast chargers can charge the ZS EV from 0-80% in 50 minutes. Buyers can charge their cars for free at these dealerships for a limited time period. Apart from this, MG will install a 7.4kW AC charger at the home or office of the car owners. This charger can fully replenish the battery of the ZS EV in 6-8 hours. MG ZS EV’s advance bookings are higher than all of 2019’s EV sales

The number of connected <keyword id="36810" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="vehicles" source="Orion">vehicles</keyword> in service will reach 367 million globally in 2027, from 192 million in 2023, a new report showed on Monday. According to <keyword id="708241" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="juniper-research" source="Orion">Juniper Research</keyword>, this growth of 91 per cent will be driven by the advancement of both <keyword id="2572482" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="adas" source="Orion">ADAS</keyword> (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and increasing the capabilities of in-vehicle infotainment systems. Connected vehicles are those which come equipped with communication technologies that allow the exchange of information between the various elements of the transport system and third-party services. Moreover, the research found that operators are critical to unlocking new use cases, such as <keyword id="1710860" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="autonomous-driving" source="Orion">autonomous driving</keyword> and data-heavy infotainment via 5G; representing a $3.6 billion opportunity for providing 5G connectivity enablement in 2027 globally. "5G can allow automotive OEMs to upgrade the in-vehicle experience. In a vehicle market transitioning to electric vehicles, improving the user experience is key.
