Hector is now available in five variants -- Style, Smart, Smart Pro, Sharp Pro and Savvy Pro. The company said the SUV is available in five, six, and seven-seater configurations. The next-gen Hector has key safety features such as six airbags and a 360-degree HD camera. Hector was introduced by MG Motor India in 2019. MG Motor India showcased its vision for future mobility - 'Drive Ahead' - at Auto Expo 2023 here. The company unveiled a line-up of 14 production-ready vehicles from its portfolio at the expo. Auto Expo 2023: MG Motor India announces next-gen Hector price starting at Rs 14.72 lakh

<ul><li>Even as the Indian auto industry is facing a massive slowdown, new entrant <keyword id="7205241" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="mg-hector">MG Hector</keyword> has managed to rake in 21,000 bookings. </li><li>The carmaker has now closed bookings temporarily as it can’t handle the initial high demand. </li><li>Its bookings had opened on June 4.</li></ul>Barely a month since its launch, MG Hector has sold out its stock in India, and temporarily closed bookings as it is unable to handle the high demand. The carmaker has received more than 21,000 bookings for MG Hector since June 4. It is touted to be India’s first internet car, as per company claims. “Our first product, MG HECTOR, has received an overwhelming response and we are unable to cater to such high initial demand. We are, therefore, closing bookings temporarily as this will help ensure timely and orderly deliveries for our customers who have shown tremendous confidence in MG. We are also working with our component suppliers to ramp up production in a gradual manner without any compromise on quality,” said Rajeev Chaba, President &amp; MD, MG Motor India. The date of re-opening of bookings will be announced soon. According to the company, it plans to increase production for the Hector at its Halol manufacturing facility in Gujarat by 3000 units per month. The top 2 variants – Smart and Sharp – have registered the highest demand, with over 50% reservations for the petrol variants. Interestingly, these bookings came at a time when India’s auto industry is facing tough times with sales slowdown, and subsequent production cuts by large automakers. Moreso, many dealerships too have closed down across the country. The British company which is now owned by Chinese SIAC however marked a spectacular debut in the India market, in spite of its headwinds. It entered the India automobile market with a mid-size SUV, MG Hector. In June, MG Motors launched its flagship store in Gurugram, along with a network of 120 centers across the country. The manufacturer plans to increase it to 250 centers by September this year.

MG Hector SUV stops bookings in India after 21,000 in a month

Unexpectedly though neither of these international brands suffered from what is affecting top players in India. Amidst the melee, Kia emerged as one of India’s largest car companies. It grew so fast that it took up the fifth position in sales, beating Honda and Toyota. In October alone, Kia sold 12,800 cars, whereas its bookings raced past 50,000. Kia Seltos has also been nominated for the 2020 World Car of the year. On Dhanteras, an Indian festival, Kia delivered over 2100 cars. What worked in Kia’s favour, is that all three of its variants are BSVI compliant. Most other companies are still selling their BSIV models even as the Indian government set an April 2020 deadline to sell them. This is one of the many reasons for the auto slowdown. Meanwhile, MG Hector— India’s first internet car —launched in June. It got 10,000 bookings with a 4-month wait period. The carmaker had to stop taking bookings after the number hit 21,000 and later restarted. It also delivered 700 units of MG Hector on Dhanteras day. Both these cars are SUVs. While the price for Kia Seltos ranges between ₹9.6-16 lakhs, MG Hector ranges between ₹12-₹16.8 lakhs.

The deliveries of the car will begin on July 1. Earlier in June 2019, MG Motors launched its flagship store in Gurugram, along with a network of 120 centers across the country. The manufacturer plans to increase it to 250 centers by September this year. "The one-of-its-kind flagship experience store redefines the traditional car buying experience in India, in line with the demands and requirements of new-age customers,” said Rajeev Chaba, President and Managing Director, MG Motor India during the launch. The car competes with the likes of Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV 500, Hyundai Creta along with the awaited launch of Kia Seltos.

Greater Noida, Feb 6 () MG Motor India on Thursday showcased its new SUV 'Hector Plus' that is scheduled to go on sale later this year.Hector Plus is a 6- and 7-seater addition to the Hector brand that the company claims is India's first internet car.HECTOR PLUS is designed to build on the success of HECTOR and has a more premium look and customisable seating configuration, along with revamped interiors and exteriors, MG Motor India President and Managing Director Rajeev Chaba said at the Auto Expo.He added that the new model is scheduled to go on sale later this year. MG Motor India to bring Hector Plus to India later this year

New Delhi, Apr 1 () MG Motor India on Wednesday reported total retail sales of 1,518 units in March 2020, including 116 ZS EV and 1,402 Hector SUV, the company said in a statement."Both MG Hector and MG ZS EV have made a mark in the Indian car market. Despite supply chain disruption globally, MG Motor continues to serve its customers."In February, our sales were impacted due to the disruption, while the situation improved during March before the lockdown was announced, resulting in the shutting down of our manufacturing plant," MG Motor India President and Managing Director Rajeev Chaba said.The company's current focus is on the health and well-being of its employees and their families, as well as the society at large, Chaba said."In this pursuit, we have also announced Rs 2 crore grant towards procuring gloves, masks, medicines, ventilators, and beds; and are working closely with the local administration in Gurugram and Halol (Vadodara) to support their requirements," he added.Despite the ongoing situation, the carmaker said it has assured its employees that there would be no layoffs and all payments to suppliers and vendors would be completed on time.MG Motor India, which initiated the 'Disinfect and Deliver' initiative to sanitise cars and ensure a near-zero contact with customers, before the lockdown was imposed, also said it has decided to formalise this as a permanent process across the company after the lockdown is lifted.With zero stock of BS-IV units of Hector across its dealerships and factory, the company has recently started production of BS-VI variants. MG Motor sells 1,518 units in March

New Delhi, Feb 20 () MG Motor India on Thursday said bookings for its SUV Hector have crossed 50,000 units in just eight months since its launch, and plans to launch six-seater version of the model later this year. The model has already sold nearly 20,000 units since its entry into India last year. MG Motor India Chief Commercial Officer Gaurav Gupta said, "The Hector continues its strong momentum in the Indian market crossing the 50,000-mark in terms of bookings received in just eight months since its launch." He further said the company continues to accelerate the momentum by opening new brand outlets closer to prospective customers in tier-I and tier-II cities. "With plans to launch the Hector Plus 6-seater family version in Q3 2020 (third quarter of 2020), we aim to further strengthen the Hector brand in India," Gupta said. MG Motor India said it has already expanded its operational footprint to over 200 centres across India and aims to expand the number to 250 by March-end. MG Motor India's SUV Hector bookings cross 50,000 units

New Delhi, Jan 26 () MG Motor India plans to increase production of its SUV Hector by around 30 per cent after BS-VI emission norms come into effect from April 1, according to a senior company official.
 The company, which last week launched the ZS EV, is also set to review plans for a sub-Rs 10 lakh electric vehicle (EV) considering the robust response to its pure electric SUV.
 "In case of Hector we are planning for another ramp up and hopefully that should happen in two-three months' time," MG Motor India President and MD Rajeev Chaba told .
 The company has received good response to Hector, its first model in India, and retailed 3,021 units in December 2019. Since its launch in July 2019, the carmaker recorded total sales of 15,930 units of the Hector.
 "Right now we are focussing on smooth transition to BS-VI from BS-IV in terms of dealer stock. Based on next two months we will decide but we are thinking that around 3,500 to 4,000 (units) per month of Hector we can do," he said.
 The first quarter will take some beating because of the stock adjustment, Chaba said, adding "but from April-May onwards it can be increased to 3,500 to 4,000 per month".
 Right now the company is producing around 3,000 units of the Hector from its Halol plant.
 With over 2,800 orders received for the ZS EV, way above its expectations, MG Motor India is considering to ramp up production of the vehicle to 300 or 400 units a month after three or four months, up from 200 units a month currently.
 When asked about the company's plans for the sub-Rs 10 lakh electric vehicle in the wake of the robust response to ZS EV, Chaba said it "is also an interesting development now".
 "I think we are going to review seriously what kind of shape and size, range and price that is needed for next generation EV," he said, adding "one concept will be there at the upcoming Auto Expo but we will modify it based on consumer response."
 Elaborating on the though process behind it, he said,"The less than Rs 10 lakh EV has to generate interest in millennials and it has to be a very lifestyle kind of EV. So it won't be a normal mainstream design. It has to be different," he said, adding, "We will firm up our plans post Auto Expo depending on the response." RKL ABM

Days ahead of its EV launch, MG Motors launched the first 50 kW DC charging station at its flagship showroom at Gurugram – n partnership with Fortum Charge &amp; Drive India. They plan to add four more stations across Delhi NCR. It is planning to open them in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. “With an aim to be the leader in the EV segment in India, we are pulling out all the stops to ensure adequate charging infrastructure for our first EV customers. Our endeavour is to create a robust ecosystem for EVs, right from charging to end-of-life for electric vehicles in India and the installation of the first public fast charger is the first major step in this direction,” said Rajeev Chaba, president and managing director at , MG Motor India. However, it’s not alone. Tata Motors too is setting up 500 EV charging stations in five cities – Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad – over the next two years. What the Indian government is doing The Indian government has set a mission – to convert 30% of cars on the roads to electric by 2030. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the Ministry of Power, has been given the authority to set up charging stations across the country. In a study done by the BEE and Ernst &amp; Young, it was projected that by 2030, Delhi would have 22.6 lakh charging stations, Lucknow would have 6.3 lakhs while Nagpur would have 2.6 lakhs. And there is the problem of the cost. “The retail pricing has been determined to be ₹4 per minute of charging that the operator is likely to charge the EV user with capital subsidy,” the study said. “At least one charging station should be available in a grid of 3 Km X 3 Km in the cities and one charging station at every 25 km on both sides of highways/roads,” Power Minister RK Singh said recently. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also announced tax subsidy for people who buy electric cars during the Union Budget. “To make electric vehicles affordable to consumers, our government will provide additional income tax deduction of ₹1.5 lakh on the interest paid on loans taken to purchase electric vehicles. This amounts to a benefit of around ₹2.5 lakh over the loan period to the taxpayers who take loans to purchase electric vehicles,” she had said. Coimbatore, Mar 5 (): As part of a nationwideexpansion plan, MG Motor India would add 15 more centres inTamil Nadu in a few months, a top company official saidon Thursday. With the opening of a new showroom here, the companyis operating eight centres in the state, with a plan to add 15more, including in Madurai, MG Motor India's chief commercialofficer Gaurav Gupta told reporters here.
