The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has attributed the significant <keyword id="20029550" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rise" source="keywords">rise</keyword> in <keyword id="20233512" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dengue-cases" source="keywords">dengue cases</keyword> in the city this year to an increase in the number of <keyword id="22375552" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="testing-centres" source="keywords">testing centres</keyword>, which has grown from 36 to 900 compared to last year, according to an official report. As of July 6, Delhi recorded over 256 dengue cases, which is nearly double of the 136 cases recorded in the corresponding period in 2023 and the highest since 2020, according to the report's data. In previous years, the number of dengue cases stood at 153 in 2022, 38 in 2021, and 22 in 2020. The highest number of dengue cases were recorded in the Najafgarh Zone, the report said. No deaths due to the vector-borne disease have been reported so far this year. Last year, 19 deaths occurred due to dengue, the second-highest since 2020. "The rise in the number of cases this year is because more testing centres have started collecting samples and reporting the dengue cases to the civic body. Until last year, there were about 36 testing centres. Now, this number has increased to 900 because of which the numbers appear to be inflated," a senior civic body official said. The peak season for dengue is yet to arrive in Delhi and the situation will call for urgent attention when the monsoon advances, providing a suitable atmosphere for <keyword id="21283114" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mosquito-breeding" source="keywords">mosquito breeding</keyword> to increase significantly, the official said. Usually, it takes about 10-15 days for a larva to become an adult mosquito that spreads dengue. The MCD is taking various measures to curb breeding at the source, another official said. According to the report, in areas under the jurisdiction of other agencies like New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), Delhi Cantt and Railways, around 10 dengue cases were reported as of July 6. The report also shows data on other vector-borne diseases. The number of malaria cases reported until the end of last week stood at 90, while chikungunya cases were logged at 22. The MCD conducted over 1.8 crore house visits to check for domestic mosquito breeding and found breeding in over 43,000 houses, the report said. It has issued nearly 40,000 legal notices and challans for violating the Malaria and other <keyword id="22294655" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="vector-borne-diseases" source="keywords">Vector Borne Diseases</keyword> Bye-Laws 1975 Act, it added. Rise in dengue cases due to more testing centres in city: MCD

Cases of malaria are considerably higher so far when compared to last year. Delhi has reported 363 malaria cases till this month while the figure stood at 294 in the corresponding month in 2023. As per a PTI report, the total malaria cases last year were 426. Most malaria cases are reported from the West Delhi zone. As for Chikungunya, 43 cases have been reported so far. This is nearly double than last year when the figure stood at 23. A total of 65 cases of the virus were reported last year. The most number of chikungunya cases have been reported from the South Delhi zone this year. Last week, the city witnessed a spike of nearly 250 cases of dengue in seven days. As per Municipal Corporation of Delhi's (MCD) data from January till September 21, a total of 1,229 dengue cases have been reported in the city with the death of a 54-year old registered in Lok Nayak Hospital, a senior official at the hospital had confirmed. Delhi reported 651 cases of dengue this month. Last month, a total of 256 dengue cases were reported in the city. The number of cases has become three-digit since August, it said. Last year, Delhi reported 3,013 dengue cases till the corresponding month, a manifold increase from 525 in 2022. A total of 9,266 cases were reported in the entire year while 19 dengue deaths were registered in the city last year. In September alone, the figure stood at 2,141 cases in 2023. The most number of cases this year are reported from the Najafgarg zone at 180. In a week, 45 cases have been reported in the area, the highest of all the zones besides the south zone where an equal number of cases were reported this week. The non-MCD areas governed by other agencies like NDMC, Delhi Cantt, and Railways, reported 312 dengue cases to the total tally, as per the data. To enforce mosquito control laws, the MCD has issued over 1.14 lakh legal notices and 39,338 challans to those who allowed mosquito breeding on their properties. Repeat offenders have been fined Rs 24.82 lakh, and police complaints have been filed against 9,241 people who didn't follow the rules, as per the data. The civic body also plans to increase fogging operations at major upcoming public events like Dussehra and Durga Puja and step up inspections and anti-larval measures in areas with high mosquito populations to curb the infectivity of the virus. Delhi reports over 300 dengue cases in a week; malaria and chikungunya cases on the rise

The national capital has reported around 295 fresh cases of <keyword id="6360092" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dengue" source="Orion">dengue</keyword> in a week - taking the total number of cases reported this year to 2490. However, there has been no death due to <keyword id="6360092" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dengue" source="Orion">dengue</keyword>, shows official figures. As per official figures released by the <keyword id="48285" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="municipal-corporation" source="Orion">Municipal Corporation</keyword> of <keyword id="66" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="delhi" source="Orion">Delhi</keyword> (<keyword id="55093" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="mcd" source="Orion">MCD</keyword>), there were around 693 cases of dengue reported in the month of September this year. In October, this count rose to 1238 cases. Around 295 positive cases of dengue have been reported between November 1 and 7, said officials with the anti-malaria wing of the <keyword id="48285" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="municipal-corporation" source="Orion">municipal corporation</keyword>. Last year, there were around 6739 cases reported in the month of November, they pointed out. Similarly, the national capital has also recorded seven new cases of malaria and a single case of <keyword id="6374860" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="chikungunya" source="Orion">Chikungunya</keyword> in the last week - taking the total count of cases reported in the current year to 207 and 41 respectively. Delhi reports 295 cases of dengue in a week

The <keyword id="48285" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="municipal-corporation" source="Orion">Municipal Corporation</keyword> of <keyword id="66" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="delhi" source="Orion">Delhi</keyword> (<keyword id="55093" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="mcd" source="Orion">MCD</keyword>) has implemented new rates of property <keyword id="45031" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tax" source="Orion">tax</keyword> to bring uniformity in the rates after the amalgamation of civic bodies in the national capital. The new rates of property tax will be applicable from July 16 and no additional surcharge will be levied on tax payers who have already paid their taxes, provided they have not underestimated the payable taxes. Along with this, instructions have been issued to all the <keyword id="14398012" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="regional-property-tax-officers" source="Orion">Regional Property Tax Officers</keyword> to prepare an online database of all the properties which come under the purview of paying tax at the earliest so that the revenue of the corporation can be increased. The MCD has also prescribed different utility multipliers for different types of properties. Four for entertainment and club, for banquet hall, '<keyword id="1039101" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="barat-ghar" source="Orion">Barat Ghar</keyword>' (six), for school, college, medical college, engineering college run or aided by government or local body (one), for unaided and private educational institutions (three), for non-residential properties (two), for business and commercial use, and three for industrial use. The civic body has decided to levy property tax at the rate of 12 per cent for A and B category residential <keyword id="52417" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="colonies" source="Orion">colonies</keyword>, 11 per cent for C, D, E category residential colonies, 7 per cent for E, F, G category residential colonies. Whereas, for non-residential properties up to 1500 sq ft, the rate of property tax has been fixed at 20 per cent for A, B, C, D, E category, and 15 per cent for E, L, F, G. Non-residential properties of more than 1500 sq ft have been prescribed a property tax at a uniform rate of 20 per cent. The property tax on industrial properties has been prescribed at a uniform rate of 15 per cent. Property tax will be payable at the rate of 20 per cent for covered land for airports and attached properties, and at the rate of 15 per cent on open spaces such as runways, taxiways, parking lots for aircraft, and 10 per cent on land beyond that. Meanwhile, property tax on residential and non-residential farmhouses will be payable at the rate of 20 per cent. In addition to the above rates, education cess of 1 per cent will also be payable. MCD implements uniform property tax rates applicable from July 16

The number of <keyword id="6360092" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dengue" source="Orion">dengue</keyword> cases witnesses a sharp rise in September with more than 400 new infections being reported in the last week of the month. A total of 693 cases of dengue were reported last month till September 28, according to a report released by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Monday. The city recorded a total of 525 dengue cases till September 21 this year while 412 fresh cases were reported in the week that followed, taking the tally of the vector-borne disease in the city to 937 so far this year, it said. In 2015, the city had witnessed a massive dengue outbreak, with the number of cases crossing 10,600 in October. It was Delhi's worst dengue outbreak since 1996. Of the 937 total cases recorded till September 28 this year, 75 were reported in August. It is also the highest number of dengue cases logged during the January 1-September 28 period since 2017, when the corresponding figure was 2,152. No death has been reported so far this year due to the disease. A total of 125 cases of malaria and 23 cases of chikungunya have also been reported this year in Delhi till September 28, the report said. The MCD has said that it has been conducting drives to check the spread of dengue. Amid a spike in dengue cases in the national capital, many people down with viral infection are exhibiting "overlapping symptoms" of Covid and the vector-borne disease, leaving both patients and doctors perplexed about the exact diagnosis. Cases of vector-borne diseases such as dengue and malaria are usually reported between July and November, sometimes stretching till mid-December. Its symptoms include high fever, headache, rash and muscle and joint pain, which are quite similar to that of Covid which also includes fever or chills, muscle or body aches, fatigue and headache among others. In such a situation it has become difficult to ascertain whether a person suffering from fever, body ache and headache is Covid positive or not, doctors said. Amid the continuous spurt in dengue cases, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had recently said that a plan has been devised to combat the vector-borne disease. Last year, 9,613 dengue cases were recorded in the city, the highest since 2015, along with 23 deaths -- the maximum since 2016. According to the MCD report, the city recorded 23 dengue cases in January, 16 in February, 22 in March, 20 in April, 30 in May, 32 in June and 26 in July. According to the MCD report, breeding of mosquito larvae has been found at 1,30,544 households this year till September 28. Authorities issued 96,189 legal notices for mosquitogenic conditions, and 35,668 prosecutions were launched. In 2018, Delhi had reported 481 dengue cases during the January 1-September 21 period, according to the report. The figures in 2019, 2020 and 2021 were -- 282, 212 and 273, respectively. Ten deaths each were reported due to dengue in 2016 and 2017, four in 2018 and two in 2019. And till about a decade ago, it was all fine and dandy till digital content clutter multiplied our brand exposure to a whopping 5000+ on an average day. And that meant the compelling need for acute differentiation over everything else. Let’s look at the topical industry of the year - EdTech. The whole industry came into being post digital burst. What’s interesting though is as much as these shiny, new kids stand for the same brand promise of blending sleek style, sustainability and automation, their colors try to intentionally stay as apart as possible. Leading the pack Tesla shines in its signature passion red, Faraday Future graces the color of powerplay jet black, Fisker has famously named its brand colors California sunset (orange) and Pacific ocean (blue), the Chinese born Byton decks a more luxurious grey and the adventure friendly Rivian chose orangish yellow. Superdry’s orange boasts of its fun and bold collection, Zara’s black promotes the high street range inspired by luxury fashion weeks. And why not, as the concept of brand colors needed to be synonymous with the “brand experience”. Now though, the audience is aware enough to know that just because Grab taxis are green, they don’t only move with an oil free, electric fleet. Honestly, as long as the story behind your choice of brand color is believable you can paint the canvas with whatever you wish for. Breaking the traditional need for popping colors, Unilever’s new age Talenti Gelato comes in a pure transparent identity to just focus on the product and cut the clutter in the ice cream shelf simultaneously. Ola, India’s answer to Uber uses an exclusive pear color something eponymous with sporty, not exactly a massy cab service using Wagon R &amp; Swift Dzire cars. But does it work? Quite brilliantly actually, the point of differentiation is well made and well reaped. The Niche Maze Before the digital era, market penetration used to be mostly about what the masses demanded. And honestly rightfully so, for neither there was internet to measure the size of niche interests nor a way to get them delivered online to spurt segments scattered all over. And what it has resulted in is making colors more unisex, boldly unique and universally acceptable. Lyft’s Magenta and Dunzo’s Mint Green paves way for many more to come in the coming decade. Let’s try to understand the repercussions of not having niche colors. In the Indian media ecosystem look at the known brands Zee News, NDTV, ABP News, Republic, Aaj Tak, BBC Hindi, The Wire and Firspost ALL have red in their logos. Let’s forget for a second if all these brands have similar personalities, experience or values of the color red. Let’s rather say in 2021 you want to start a media corporation catering to millennials. Don’t you think a berry blue or sunshine yellow will give you a niche identity distinctively apart from all your industry peers and make the consumer immediately associate you with the color no matter on which medium it is used? Reliance Jio certainly would have considered it while starting to slowly move towards Persian blue from its bright red similar to core competitors Airtel and Vodafone. We aren’t talking about one off anomalies that used to happen in every category like Ferrari’s legendary lemon yellow backdrop whilst Audi, Mercedes, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Jaguar &amp; Lexus all go with the same kind of logo in metallic elements on their cars. These smartphone examples are of all category leaders and none come close to the other’s color no matter how close their audience, personality and brand experience might be. Now one of the major brand identity tests is to create a fictional character with a rich personality to match with your corporation’s values, vision and heart. The catch is, it only works if your audience feels that metaphor coming alive too. Otherwise as you will agree, every horse breeder can sell a Unicorn. And with all due respect the 2020s audiences have evolved from all color tones (and it’s kind of fair if not lovely). Now they are more interested and invested in what you actually do both with your offering and beyond it for the overall society. They know how to filter the frills from the flowers. Typography before color: The formula is minimal typography for maximum impact. Uber tweaked its logo element to a bolder no nonsense font of its name. Indian food delivery pioneers have removed their famous spoon and now just have Zomato written in a thicker and slightly curved style. The legendary Absolut Vodka which had a designer cursive line - ‘Country of Sweden’ in the logo itself has switched to just a navy blue Absolut enjoying the solitude. Visa has removed the card element last decade and even fired the fiery yellow edge to allow blue to engulf all of its typography on this one. Dominos have hit puberty late but by making the name come out of the inclined box they now demand complete attention. IHop, Dunkin... the list honestly keeps going on but the verdict is clear. Clarity of your name in the logo, something that can be read in a nanosecond during a digital post or banner is what works today. And when pure simplicity takes absolute precedent, intricate elements, three tone color schemes and parallel mascots take a backseat. Bold is the new black and clarity is the new color. Millennials demand this world to stop seeing colors, at least without any preconceived prejudices. And if anything the creative industry should be elated with this transformation, one less box to fit into. Let the old labels make way for legacy. If only the world would start having bold brands who can make shirts for men and call it pink. Oh wait, we already do - Pink Shirtmaker, London owned by the Louis Vuitton group. South Delhi Municipal Corporation (<keyword id="413995" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="SDMC">SDMC</keyword>) has passed an order that allows women and kids to access toilet facilities at hotels and restaurants in the area, without having to pay for anything. By this move, SDMC plans to boost the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/small-business/companies/swachh-bharat-campaign-goes-digital-private-companies-can-now-choose-their-cleanliness-projects-online/articleshow/57730445.cms">Swachh Bharat campaign</a> in its area. As reported earlier, SDMC had decided to pass this order in March itself, but it got delayed due to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/politics/bjp-sweeps-delhi-civic-polls-aap-alleges-evm-tampering/articleshow/58375826.cms">MCD elections</a>. Also, after the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/latest/sdmc-to-make-restrooms-in-south-delhi-hotels-and-restaurants-open-to-all/articleshow/57646024.cms">March announcement</a>, some hotels and restaurants had agreed to do so out of will, but once the policy kicks in officially today, they would be mandated to follow the code of conduct.
