This means that the medical aspirants will no longer have to go through a separate examination to secure a licence to practice medicine, or to enroll in postgraduate programmes. In fact, NEXT will also be considered as a screening exam for foreign medical aspirants. In a bid to have uniformity across institutions, the bill also seeks to rope in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Institute of National Importance (INIs) into the given criteria. “At present, we have NEET and entrance exams for AIIMS. Now, we will also have an exit exam that will be for everyone for getting a licence to practice medicine in the country," Mint <a href="https://www.livemint.com/politics/policy/cabinet-approves-bill-to-replace-mci-with-national-medical-commission-1563360408508.html">reported</a> citing Union minister <keyword id="119642" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Prakash-Javadekar">Prakash Javadekar</keyword>. The NMC, which will substitute the Medical Council of India(MCI), will be set up to take over the responsibilities of conducting common entrances for MBBS, streamlining the course and fees. Under this, the government will introduce fee relaxation for students enrolling in private institutions. “The Medical Assessment and Rating Board will grant permission for new medical colleges, starting PG courses and increasing seats based on the standards set by the UG and PG boards,” the Cabinet noted. The NMC will constitute three autonomous bodies — Under-Graduate Medical Education Board, Post-Graduate Medical Education Board, and Ethics and Medical Registration Board — which will focus on ensuring global standards of education. Every year, 80,000 students take admission in MBBS courses across the country. While 150,000 take the entrance examination to enroll in 50,000 seats for PG courses. Now, MBBS doctors need not take extra exams for licences, PG admissions

It focussed at introducing a ‘bridge course’ that will enable medical practitioners of alternative medicine to pursue allopathy. However, it faced criticism from medical professionals and health associations in India. The bill was later revised with several amendments including aggressive punishments for unauthorised practice of medicine — a year long imprisonment or a fine of up to ₹500,000. MBBS doctors can skip entrance exams for MD and MS courses, if Health Ministry has its way

India’s most prestigious institution for medicine All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is expected to announce the results of <keyword id="8164002" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="AIIMS-PG-2020">AIIMS PG 2020</keyword> entrance exam on Saturday, i.e November 22, 2019. The applicants can check the result on the official website at aiimsexam.org. The selected candidates will also have to appear for the medical examination. The entrance exam was held on November 17 for MD, MS, MDS, DM, MCh. And the minimum cut off score was 50 percentile. The registration for July session will begin a week after the declaration of result, on November 27, 2019. The admissions will begin on January 1, 2020 and the counselling will take place in February. Only seven of the total 15 AIIMs institutes offer postgraduate courses. The total number of seats across AIIMS centres in Delhi, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur, Rishikesh, Bhubaneswar and Bhopal is 546. In the several education reforms announced by Finance minister <keyword id="42575" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arun-Jaitley">Arun Jaitley</keyword>, he has proposed to establish a <keyword id="581232" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="National-Testing-Agency">National Testing Agency</keyword> which will conduct all the academic entrance examinations in India. 
 
This will take away the burden from Central Board of Secondary Education and All India Council for Technical Education in terms of the administration work related to examinations.

Apart from school exams at Class 10 and Class 12 level for CBSE affiliated schools, CBSE conducts major higher education related entrances in the absence of any national testing body. 
 
It conducts the Joint Entrance Exam-main (JEE Main) for engineering schools including IITs, and the National Eligibility Test for UGC for selecting professors in college and university system.

<ul><li>Indians planning to study medicine in China may have to learn Mandarin language to enroll in MBBS programmes in the country. </li><li>The Ministry of Education (MoE) rolled out an official list of 45 universities in China which are qualified for an MBBS degree programme in English. </li><li>China opened its doors to foreign students in 2003, and has as many as 500,000 students. </li><li>In China, medical education costs nearly ₹300,000 to ₹500,000 for government-authorized universities.</li></ul>More Indians are opting to study in China, given the affordability of education as compared to the US and Australia. But those looking to gain medical degrees from the country, will now face a roadblock--of language. They might have to <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/china/china-restricts-mbbs-course-in-english-to-45-varsities/articleshow/71485629.cms">learn Mandarin </a>to enroll in the country’s MBBS programmes. The government of China is allowing only 45 of its universities to teach MBBS in English. There are over 200 universities in the country offering medical courses. “It has been clearly mentioned by the Chinese MOE that teaching MBBS course under a bilingual (English/Chinese) model is strictly forbidden. The MOE has also informed that the list of universities will be regularly reviewed and updated in due course,” PTI <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/services/education/china-restricts-teaching-of-mbbs-in-english-to-45-colleges-amid-big-surge-of-students-from-india/articleshow/71482435.cms">reported</a> citing Indian Embassy. China opened its doors to foreign students in 2003, and now there are as many as 500,000 of them. As many as 23,000 Indian students enrolled in Chinese universities — and more than 21,000 of them opt for medicine. To avoid confusion among aspiring doctors, Indian Embassy removed the Chinese universities that do not offer courses in English from its website. However, the students who are presently enrolled in any university other than those listed by the government are learning Chinese language to get through the course. In China, medicine education costs nearly ₹300,000 to ₹500,000 for government-authorized universities. In India, the tuition costs can range anywhere between ₹1 million to ₹3 million. Indian medical students will now have to learn Mandarin to study in China

In order to revamp the medical scenario of the country, the govt is leaving no stones unturned. As per a news report in The Times of India, the health ministry is planning an exit exam for MBBS students passing out of government as well as private medical colleges. 
 
 
The government intends to create a separate 'all-India chapter' for doctors qualifying the exit exam. Doctors currently get themselves registered with the state chapter of Medical Council of India (MCI) and have to get their registration transferred if they intend to practice in another state. Those clearing the exit exam will be able to practice anywhere in the country. 
 
Eventually, students not passing the exit exam could even be held back from post-graduate studies, an official source privy to the developments told TOI. 
 
The draft proposal prepared by the ministry suggests using the existing Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) as a voluntary exit exam. FMGE, a screening test recognized by the MCI, was introduced in 2002 as a qualifying examination for Indian students holding medical degrees from other countries and intending to practice medicine in India. 
 The health ministry is now considering using FMGE as a benchmark for all <keyword id="103123" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="MBBS-doctors">MBBS doctors</keyword>. 
 
 
Government data shows a huge disparity between the average pass marks in government and private colleges, as well as in different states. For instance, the result of All India Post-Graduate Medical Entrance Examination 2015 showed Andhra Pradesh had an average pass percentage of 84.92%, Chandigarh had 73.56% while West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh had 53.58% and 51.56%, respectively. The pass percentage in Assam, Jammu &amp; Kashmir and in foreign institutes was even lower at 46.38%, 37.84% and 31.41%, respectively. 
 Similarly, <keyword id="2878719" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="AIPGMEE-2014">AIPGMEE 2014</keyword> results showed that based on 50% score as minimum qualifying criteria, 22,802 candidates from government institutions passed the exam, compared to a mere 8,862 candidates from private colleges. From foreign institutions, only 1,188 passed. 
 
"How students fare in all-India PG exams is also an indicator of the quality of doctors being produced," the official said. 
 
The government is also of the view that while there is a need to ramp up capacity for post-graduate doctors to have more specialists, data showed that there was an urgent requirement to monitor the quality of MBBS doctors entering practice. 
 
Data showed that each year, about 100,000 doctors took post-graduate medical examinations across the country. However, only around 25,000 made it and the rest were available for service as MBBS doctors. Estimates show that nearly 100,000 MBBS doctors are available for active service at any given time.

During this time, she woke up at 4 a.m. and studied for at least 10-12 hours each day.Some prefer to take an easier route.The Journal found that several students had paid $15,000-20,000 to illegally look at the question paper before the exam. BI could not independently verify the figures.The police made multiple arrests related to exam cheating after results showed that 67 people received perfect scores in the NEET exams this year."Question papers are sold at extravagantly high prices," Ashok Rathore, a police officer who investigated cheating linked to India's medical school exam, told the Journal. "It's a nexus of desperate students, parents, tuition centers and printing presses."<h2 id="378edaf6-be36-458e-8847-661e66638c81">Leaked questions</h2>One student told BI that several Telegram channels dedicated to exam prep saw messages encouraging students "struggling with exams and don't have time for studies" to get in touch for "help.""My friend said he was asked to pay around 15,000 rupees ($180) to enter the private channel where they shared the questions," she said.BI reached out to the Telegram account offering "help". The person said they can provide next year's medical entrance exam questions for around 1 lakh rupees ($1,200).High ranks in these exams mean coveted "seats" in medical colleges operated by the state and national governments. Those with money can still legally obtain places in private medical colleges if they pay fees ranging from $115,000 to $145,000.However, some students with the financial capacity prefer cheating and getting a government seat instead."It makes very good economic sense," a senior medical advisor with knowledge of the matter told BI. "The question paper will be given for about 25 lakh rupees (around $29,000). For that much, they get a free seat in a government college where they only have to pay around 16,000 rupees ($190) per annum.""For the entire five-year degree, that still only comes to around one lakh rupees ($1191), so of course rich students would rather do that instead of paying their way into private medical schools."<h2 id="4ff61c3d-756d-47c9-8f47-2f6be9f1f6a0">Earning a 'merit' seat</h2>The advisor — who preferred to remain anonymous but whose identity is known to BI — also said there is a significant amount of respect that comes with having "earned" a merit seat instead of paying their way into a private "management" seat."Unfortunately, there are very few objective metrics that people have as outsiders to judge the competence of their doctors, especially at a time when everybody in India sits with an MBBS board outside their clinic," agreed Asish George, a doctor who cleared the entrance exam in 2014."For those people, the fact that someone cracked a highly competitive entrance exam and got in would inspire more confidence than someone who paid their way through the whole thing."According to the Journal, authorities in India have tried to install video cameras inside exam halls and increased their monitoring of social media to catch cheaters. He is currently handling the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities of the group, to promote football learning centres in Rajasthan and Goa.
