The purpose of Aon Best Employers study, which was first conducted in Asia in 2001, is to gain insights into companies that are creating real competitive advantage through their people, to explore the factors that make a workplace of choice and to identify the Best Employers.<br />
The most comprehensive study of its kind in Asia Pacific, it is now run in 12 markets: Australia &amp; New Zealand China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand as well as in the Middle East.<br />

The <keyword id="6354813" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="nifty">Nifty</keyword> is likely to remain in a sideways zone until fresh buying emerges on blue chips. Overseas cues from Wall Street and Asian markets are muted as well. <br />

The market remains on tenterhooks ahead of Sunday's referendum on Greece. Global financial markets are likely to see major volatility if the debt-riddled nation exits the European Union. The Nifty is likely to see a 100-150 point downside if the Greek vote is against more austerity. That fall on the Index should be seen as a buying opportunity.<br />

The largest settlements tend to be gold or diamond <a href="http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/IOTD/view.php?id=84085">mining towns.</a> And while just about every one of them has an airstrip capable of handling large planes, the cost of air freight is substantial.</p><p>So when winter comes, fuel, explosives, and heavy equipment move north in an unusual way: via trucks driving on frozen lakes.</p><p>The lakes in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut begin to freeze in early November. Once the ice is thick enough to support construction vehicles, crews plow snow off the surface and expose the ice directly to the intense cold, making it even thicker.</p><p>By early February in most years, they have created a roadbed as wide as an eight-lane freeway, with ice capable of supporting double trailers hauling up to 42 tons. Though there are some land crossings between lakes, 87 percent of the 600 kilometer (400 mile) road is on ice.</p><p>The ice sags under a load, and the faster the vehicle, the deeper the depression. This sends out waves under the ice, which bounce back from the shoreline and the shallows. In weak spots, these waves can shatter the ice. To reduce this danger, officials set speed limits for the road based on ice conditions, weather, and weight.</p><p>A 25 kilometer per hour (15 miles per hour) speed limit is typical for fully loaded trucks, while 60 kmph (35 mph) is permitted for empty trucks going southbound in "express lanes." The top image shows in detail where the winter road divides into two lanes over one of the lakes. The wider view includes almost all of the ice trucking route in northwest Canada.</p><p>The winter road terminated near the Diavik Diamond mine in 2015; in some years, it has been extended farther north to reach the Lupin and Jericho mines in Nunavut, but both have recently been shuttered.</p><p>The road carries thousands of loads each winter, bringing in items either too large or too expensive to carry on aircraft. Hauling freight over this ephemeral road system is six to eight times less expensive than flights, and some equipment, such as giant ore-carrying dump trucks, would never fit inside a plane.</p><p>The winter road closes to heavy traffic when spring arrives and the ice thins. It is completely impassable by mid-April.</p><p>The tonnage hauled and length of the driving season is quite variable from year to year. Ransoms typically range from $300 to $500, sometimes with a limited time before the price is raised or before the chance to pay is withdrawn completely.</p><p>The idea behind ransomware authors extending an olive branch to victims is simple: the victim has to trust that paying up will actually restore their files. If they don't trust the legitimacy of the service, they are less likely to pay.</p><p>Further, even for the victims that <em>want </em>to pay, actually doing so can be a challenge. Most ransomware services require payment in bitcoins, and getting funds into a bitcoin wallet and then transferring those bitcoins to the attacker is not a trivial process.</p><p>"When you think about the people that ransomware's targeting … they're going after relatively unsavvy users who are using [outdated browsers]," Craig Williams, Security Outreach Manager for Cisco's Talos research group, told Business Insider.</p><p>Williams said that nearly all ransomware will change the user's background to a ransom note explaining how to pay.</p><p>"These instructions are written in such a way that [the attackers] are able to get money from [their victims], which I think in itself is a feat."</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/568f14cbc08a80431d8b555c-1122-841/note-part-2.jpg" alt="cryptowall ransom note instructions ransomware" data-mce-source="Bleeping Computer" data-mce-caption="Instructions provided with the CryptoWall 4 ransomware." data-link="http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/cryptowall-4-0-released-with-new-features-such-as-encrypted-file-names/" /><p class="source"><span><a href="http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/cryptowall-4-0-released-with-new-features-such-as-encrypted-file-names/">Bleeping Computer</a></span></p><p class="caption">Instructions provided with the CryptoWall 4 ransomware.</p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>Ransomware authors will take extra measures to ensure payment. Some will offer alternative methods of payment. Others offer the free decryption of a single file to prove that they do in fact possess the key. Many services even use the <a href="http://www.csoonline.com/article/3004594/cyber-attacks-espionage/new-ransomware-business-cashing-in-on-cryptolockers-name.html">names of better known viruses</a> in order to piggy-back on their name recognition and reputation for actually providing decryption keys.</p><p>The practice of hackers offering victim support began with the developers of Cryptolocker, one of the most widespread ransomware viruses around, according to Lawrence Abrams.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/568f16acc08a806f008b7ddf-591-464/original-cryptolocker-10-22-13.jpg" alt="cryptolocker ransom note" data-mce-source="CryptoLocker via Lawrence Abrams" data-mce-caption="A webpage associated with the CryptoLocker ransomware includes a &amp;quotpersonal note&quot; to a customer experiencing a problem." /><p class="source"><span>CryptoLocker via Lawrence Abrams</span></p><p class="caption">A webpage associated with the CryptoLocker ransomware includes a "personal note" to a customer experiencing a problem.</p></div><p></p></div></div>Abrams is the founder of computer support site <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/24/sports/football/on-appeal-odell-beckham-jrs-suspension-is-upheld.html?smid=tw-nytimes&amp;smtyp=cur">Bleeping Computer</a>, and he said that CryptoLocker's developers would monitor support threads on Bleeping Computer and soon began to respond to some user concerns on their web-page.</p><p>CryptoWall, a successor to CryptoLocker, followed the former's lead and added a support page to its own websites. According to Abrams, most large ransomware packages since then have offered <a href="https://www.fireeye.com/blog/threat-research/2015/05/teslacrypt_followin.html">their own support pages</a>.</p><p>On Bleeping Computer, several ransomware victims reported communicating with various malware developers or deployers to resolve issues with payment or decryption.</p><p>In one instance, a victim of the PClock ransomware reported negotiating the ransom on his files down to 0.2 bitcoins-around $40 dollars at the time. A ransom letter posted by a victim of the same virus suggests an original ransom of 10 times that amount.</p><p>Rewat, a CryptoWall victim from Thailand, told Business Insider that he paid a ransom of nearly $580 to retrieve his files, but found that the decryption tool he was given did not work. This time, it worked. Compared to the 10 minute encryption process, decryption took 8 hours.</p><p>Rewat is unsure if CryptoWall ever received his message, but weeks later, he received a response: "Please upload your file via sendspace.com [and] send download link to me." He doesn't plan to write back.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/568f1a24c08a8081028b7e12-739-770/ransom.png" alt="tox ransom note" data-mce-source="Tox" data-mce-caption="The ransom note from Tox's ransomware, including payment instructions and an offer to get in on the business." /><p class="source"><span>Tox</span></p><p class="caption">The ransom note from Tox's ransomware, including payment instructions and an offer to get in on the business.</p></div><p></p></div></div>Former ransomware developer Tox told Business Insider that, during the time his virus was operational, he didn't often receive messages from victims, but that figured that the more help he could provide the better. </p><p>"The easier the payment process, the more paying victims [there will be.] I felt like a modern Arsene Lupin, in [that] I tried to be as [much of] a gentleman thief as my position allowed me to be," Tox said over encrypted chat.</p><p>For his part, ransomware developer Jeiphoos told Business Insider that he only ever received one message from someone claiming to be a victim.
