Some 39 other employees were named managing director, also on Tuesday. The annual promotion process is a closely watched rite of passge on Wall Street because it tends to signal who are the biggest earners and power players. Goldman Sachs kicked off the process earlier this month <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/meet-5-of-goldman-sachs-newest-partners-2022-11">when it promoted 80 people</a> to partner status, its largest class since 2016.Carlyle's promotions took place across 26 of its 29 offices around the world and will go into effect on January 1.
