The company has formed a joint venture with EA GreenPower Pvt Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of GreenPower Motor Company Inc, a publicly listed firm in the US and Canada specialising in electric commercial vehicles in the passenger transportation and freight transport markets. Medical experts in Lucknow said that there have been over a dozen cases where the patients experienced extreme fatigue but did not consult a doctor. Sudden fatigue with drop in blood platelets also a COVID-19 symptom, say medical experts

New Delhi, Mar 23 () Lohia Auto Industries on Monday said it has shut down operations and suspended vehicle production at it Kashipur facility in Uttarakhand till March 31 as part of measures to prevent spread of coronavirus outbreak. The company, which manufactures electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers, said it has asked all of its employees to work from home through the end of March. "We have shut down our operations and suspended vehicle production at our Kashipur facility with effect from March 23, 2020 to March 31, 2020, as a measure to stop the spread of coronavirus and keeping the safety of employees as the top priority," Lohia Auto Industries CEO Ayush Lohia said in a statement. He further said the company will await further notifications from the government to resume operations at the plant. Lohia also said, "We have asked all our employees to work from home through the end of March. " Stating that the situation is dynamic, he said, "We are prepared to adjust quickly based on the daily analysis of the current environment." RKL RVK

New Delhi, May 6 () Three-wheeler and electric vehicle maker Lohia Auto Industries has put on hold major investments, and is focussing on sustenance for itself as well as suppliers to tide over the impact of coronavirus pandemic, according to a top company official.The company, which manufactures both diesel and petrol three-wheelers along with electric two and three-wheelers, is also gearing up to resume operations partially although its supply chain is not functional, as two of its suppliers are based out of Maharashtra, which is badly hit by COVID-19."Right now it is important to keep the eggs together rather than doing any further investments. We will be definitely keeping on hold major investments as of now. Key would be to sustain this turmoil and to support every people who are in touch with us," Lohia Auto Industries CEO Ayush Lohia told .Stressing that the effort will be to tide over the coronavirus impact in the first quarter, he said, "Then we will accordingly take steps for the next financial year or the second or third quarter of this fiscal because it is important for us to sustain ourself in the first quarter".Lohia further said, "We have taken a call that we will try and support from our side the suppliers and employees together. We have definitely not zeroed in on how it will be done, but we will be doing it once things start to get normal".At present, he said, the company is primarily focusing on its three-wheelers, some of which it has adapted for various applications that can be used in the present circumstances."We are focussing on our complete three-wheeler portfolio. We have evolved new products, which serve various purposes depending upon the needs such as those on which where sanitising equipment can be placed and can be used by government and private entities for sanitisation," Lohia said.After the experience of lockdown where there has been a marked improvement in pollution levels in cities, he said, "We are anticipating a boost in demand of environment friendly electric three-wheelers. We have already started modification like putting up a glass or plastic sheet between driver and passenger".In electric two-wheelers, he said, "we will be mainly in B2B segment because that is one area which is a low hanging fruit".The company has decided not to focus on B2C segment as customers will be less ready to spend on high technology expensive product like an electric two-wheeler during and immediately after the pandemic blows over.When asked about the company's plans for resuming operations, Lohia said, "We have also got permission to operate our plant but we are preparing ourselves to operate".The company is preparing for back-end supply chain to be ready as it is not yet fully open with its suppliers in multiple locations like Maharashtra, Delhi-NCR and Uttarakhand, he added."We are still trying to get in touch with our supplier base and check if they can operate. Then at least we can start few supplies which are for institutional and B2B clients," he said.Lohia Auto has certain orders from B2B clients who want to use its electric two and three-wheelers for deliveries for essential goods, he said, adding "that has not been happening because our supply chain is not ready yet.  It was encouraging to see the rapid adoption of the <keyword id="1461878" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bhim">BHIM</keyword> app. In roughly a month, this digital payment app has been downloaded by almost 125 lakh people. The <keyword id="25455" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="finance">Finance</keyword> Minister announced two new schemes related to this – one providing cashback to merchants using BHIM and the other as a referral bonus to consumers recommending the app. As more merchants are encouraged to use BHIM and consumers play a role in spreading awareness of the app, more transactions will become digitalized. 
 
Building the Infrastructure 
Without infrastructural support, no amount of incentives can cause change. In recognition of this, banks have been asked to launch 1 million new PoS (point-of-sale) terminals by March and 2 million Aadhaar-based PoS terminals by September. Apart from banks, post offices and fair price shops will be promoting cashless transactions, taking digital payments to the grassroots. 
 
All duties have been waived for manufacturers of PoS devices, fingerprint readers, iris scanners and other biometric payment devices. Additionally, ₹10,000 crores have been allocated to Bharat Net, a project that is taking high-speed broadband to Gram Panchayats in India. 
 
All these strategically-designed measures would strengthen the resilience of India’s digital economy. The ramp in digital payments would not only increase the tax base but would help small business secure more loans for their working capital needs. Fintech companies would have the needed information to approve loans even faster and offer a variety of financial products based on frequency and type of receipts.

Discouraging Cash 
While encouraging digital transactions, Budget 2017-18 simultaneously discourages cash transactions. Transactions above ₹3 lakhs are no longer permitted to be made in cash. 
 
The Finance Minister announced a reduction of presumptive tax for SMEs with the annual turnover of up to ₹2 crores, from 8% to 6%. However, this reduction is valid only for receipts by non-cash means.

Moving Online The seriousness of the government to take everything online is quite evident, from the <keyword id="6360345" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="FIPB">FIPB</keyword> (<keyword id="62529" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Foreign-Investment-Promotion-Board">Foreign Investment Promotion Board</keyword>) permitting the e-filing of FDI applications to the withdrawal of service charge on e-tickets booked through IRCTC. GST, which the Finance Minister announced would be implemented as per schedule, would allow registration and payment online.

The government is targeting over ₹2,500 crore digital transactions for FY18 through BHIM Aadhaar Pay, IMPS and debit cards. The importance of the success of digitalization can be sensed by the tax figures released. Of 4.2 crore people in the organized sector, only 1.74 crores filed tax returns and of 13.94 lakh companies, only 5.97 lakh have filed returns. 
 
These figures indicate how skewed the system currently is. The initiatives being proposed by the government will increase the tax base, the tax rate can be reduced without impacting government revenue. A further reduction in the tax rate would be beneficial for businesses and the economy; thus beginning a virtuous cycle of growth. 
 
<keyword id="4160200" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="digital-india-means">Digital India Means</keyword> a Stronger India 
Most businesses struggle to survive, not because they can’t be profitable, but because they face severe cash-flow constraints for their daily operations. While these businesses struggle, traditional banks are reluctant to offer loans. 
 Budget 2017-18 has tried to address this by doubling the lending target to ₹2.44 lakh crores. This is in addition to the increase in government credit guarantees for SMEs from ₹1 crore to ₹2 crores, as announced by PM <keyword id="6354642" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Modi">Modi</keyword> in December 2016. Moreover, the Finance Minister proposed tax concession on provisions for non-performing assets (NPAs) and ₹10,000 crores of recapitalization for state-owned lenders.

The RBI has already included lending <keyword id="6354598" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="NBFCs">NBFCs</keyword> that are powered by cutting-edge lending platforms into the CGTSME (the credit guarantee scheme for SMEs). Similar initiatives need to be taken to equip FinTech lenders to help meet the unfulfilled credit demand of over $250 billion among SMEs. 
 The provisions in the Union Budget 2017-18 appear startup and fintech friendly. An ever-increasing number of <keyword id="6362513" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Startups">startups</keyword> are technology-dependent. These startups are likely to experience greater ease of doing business due to the heavy emphasis on the Budget on digitization. Furthermore, technological services will result in digital footprints of SMEs and consumers, which Fintech lenders can leverage to create and offer customized credit solutions.

Budget 2017-18: Forging a bright future for

The national capital has reported an "isolated" case of Japanese Encephalitis, official sources said on Thursday. All public health measures have been instituted as per the National Centre for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC) guidelines, the sources said, adding there was no cause for concern. Referring to an order issued by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Wednesday, the sources said that the 72-year-old man from west Delhi was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences on November 3 following chest pain. The patient was diabetic, had coronary artery disease, bilateral lower limb weakness and bowel and bladder incontinence, the source said. After the patient's blood sample was collected on November 6, he tested positive for Japanese Encephalitis. He was discharged on November 15, the sources said. According to the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme data, in 2024, 1,548 Japanese Encephalitis cases were reported from 24 states and Union Territories, with 925 cases from Assam alone. The central government guidelines, two doses of the vaccine have been a part of the Universal Immunisation Programme since 2013. Adult <keyword id="24203625" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Japanese-Encephalitis-vaccine" source="keywords">Japanese Encephalitis vaccine</keyword> has been introduced in high-burden states, sources said. "No outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis has been reported in Delhi in the past although occasional isolated cases have been reported from tertiary hospitals like AIIMS, Ram Manohar Lohia and Safdarjung among others - mostly from neighbouring states," a source said. While all public health measures have been instituted according to the NCVBDC guidelines, there is no cause for concern due to this isolated case of Japanese Encephalitis, the source said. The Japanese Encephalitis virus is normally carried by waterfowl and amplified in pigs from where it is accidentally transmitted to humans through the bite of infected culex mosquitoes. The infection may result in febrile illness and in a small proportion of cases cause neurological illness and may result in death, he said. There is no specific treatment for Japanese Encephalitis and there is no human-to-human transmission of the virus, the source said.
