Gone are the days when art was limited to galleries, displayed only behind closed doors and walls were stained with paan, scribbles, urine, posters and lack of general apathy. 
 
Now, tables have turned, all thanks to the St+Art Foundation, a non-profit organisation that works on art spaces in public spaces, which is hosting the Sr+Art Festival in the national capital for the second consecutive year. 
 
This year, they aimed big. They wanted to embed art into the cities we live in- and what better city to start with than the national capital of the country itself? 
 So, the result is this- over 14 artists from <keyword id="3658" type="COUNTRY" weightage="100" keywordseo="India">India</keyword> and all across the world have come together to paint their heart out on walls and as a result creating India's very first open air public art district in <keyword id="6411894" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Lodhi-Colony">Lodhi Colony</keyword>. 
 
Though the work that started in December 2015 is still in progress, presently several walls between Khanna Market and Meherchand Market are a spectacle lending themselves as an open air art gallery. 
 
Prepare to be mesmerized when you cross Meherchand Market and end up noticing a mural of freedom fighter Rani Lakshmi Bai painted by Lady Aiko, a Japanese artist or catch yourself reading the painted poem on the walls of Lodhi in Block 11 written by the painter Neils Shoe Meulman himself. His calligraffiti will be hard to look away from. 
 
It reads: Sans Serifs No Letters, And No Words To Read, Sans Words No Signs, No Names In The Streets, Just Rows Of Buildings, And Gardens Sans Weeds. 
 
There will be more art adorning the walls as you pass by the Colony and while you pass each mural, remarkably different than the previous one, you will be forced to catch your breath for a moment-at the sheer brilliance of the work of these artists, most of whom have been successful in completing painting over a wall in under 4-5 days. 
 
Their weapons of choice? Rollers, stencils, spray cans and last but not the least, their free hand. 
 
Built on the foundation of the Swachh Bharat Mission, the initiative focuses on creatively spreading the message of maintaining a cleaner physical environment. “Art has the potential to create a positive impact on a city and its residents, while also paving the way towards making people more conscious about their environment. Through the creation of India’s first public art district, we hope to work with the government on more projects to create a sustainable approach towards the Swachh Bharat Mission,” says, Arjun Bahl, co-founder and festival director, St+Art India. 
 
They are also conducting guided walks for anyone and everyone who wants to experience the magic of this open air gallery. Go for the walk, you won't regret it.

Welcome to Lodhi Colony- India's first open air public art district

The probe of recovery of over 500 <keyword id="9323420" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="oxygen-concentrators">oxygen concentrators</keyword> from famous Delhi restaurants has been handed over to the crime branch. This development comes a day after the Delhi Police arrested another person identified as Gourav Khanna, CEO of <keyword id="603619" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Matrix-Cellular-Services">Matrix Cellular Services</keyword> Ltd in connection with its probe into the seizure of over 500 oxygen concentrators in the last two days from popular restaurants in the national capital. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South Delhi Atul Kumar Thakur said that Khanna, a resident of Haryana's Gurugram was arrested on Friday night. He said that on Friday, police carried out searches at two popular restaurants in South Delhi's upscale <keyword id="6413695" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="khan-market">Khan Market</keyword> and recovered 105 concentrators, which are used for treatment of Covid patients. "During searches at <keyword id="134406" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Khan-chacha">Khan Chacha</keyword> restaurant in Khan Market, 96 oxygen concentrators were recovered, while nine concentrators were recovered from Town Hall restaurant," Thakur said. Khan Chacha restaurant is known for its melt-in-the mouth kebabs, while Town Hall restaurant specialises in pan Asian cuisine. The official said that these concentrators were being sold in the black market. Both outlets are linked to <keyword id="6388" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Navneet-Kalra">Navneet Kalra</keyword>, the alleged black marketer of oxygen concentrators in Delhi, the official said. On Thursday, the police recovered 19 oxygen concentrators after conducting a search at Nega Ju Restaurant and Bar in Central Market of Lodhi Colony. The police arrested four men including the manager of the restaurant. Thakur said that Friday's searches were based on the inputs shared by arrested accused Hitesh during questioning. He said that the efforts are on to arrest more people associated with the racket. Thakur further added that the staff involved in good work is being suitably rewarded. The official said that it has also recovered WhatsApp messages of the accused for selling the oxygen concentrators at higher prices. The police is also in touch with the custom department officials to track the import of concentrators from China. According to police sources, the oxygen concentrators were being imported for Rs 16,000 to Rs 20,000 and were being sold for Rs 70,000.

Crime branch to probe recovery of O2 concentrators from Delhi eateries, including Khan Market's famous Khan Chacha and Town Hall

New Delhi, Oct ( IANS ) A team of Special Cell has nabbed two inter-state drug peddlers, Devender and Khalid and recovered "Crystal Methamphetamine (Ice-drug)", prohibited psychotropic substance of approximately one kg. The value of the drug is around Rs 2 crore in the international market. "Specific information was received through a reliable source that two persons would be coming to deliver Ice-drug or meth in the area of Machli Mandi, Ghazipur, New Delhi. The team acted upon the information and laid a trap that led to the apprehension of the two accused. From their possession, around one kg prohibited psychotropic substance Crystal Methamphetamine (Ice-drug/Meth) and a small quantity of Heroin was also recovered," said PS Kushwah, DCP Special cell. Accordingly, a case under relevant provisions of NDPS Act was registered at Special Cell, Lodhi colony, Delhi, and the accused persons arrested. Further efforts are being made to nab accomplices involved in the drug peddling racket. Initially, Khalid and Devender started delivering small quantity of drugs on commission of 10% for suppliers in nearby area of Delhi and NCR and won the trust of supplier. Thereafter, they were consigned to deliver larger quantities to drug in Delhi/NCR but this time they were caught by Special Cell. Forward and backward linkages of this narco-chain are being investigated by the Delhi Police. --IANS zaz/ash

New Delhi, May 8 () A Delhi Police constable posted at the Mandir Marg police station here tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, officials said. The constable was placed in isolation and 11 more police personnel were quarantined at separate places, they said. The Mandir Marg police station barracks, where the COVID-positive constable stayed, was sealed, the officials added.Three more Delhi Police personnel, including a traffic inspector, tested positive for the infection on Thursday.The 59-year-old traffic inspector was in charge of the Sangam Vihar area of Southern Traffic Range.The other two are a 46-year-old head constable posted in Mahendra Park police station and an inspector deployed at the Lodhi Colony office of the Delhi Police Special Cell.Contact-tracing is underway, the officials said. New Delhi, May 7 () Three more Delhi Police personnel, including a traffic inspector posted in Southern Traffic Range, tested positive for COVID-19, police said on Thursday.The 59-year-old Traffic Inspector, who is incharge of Sangam Vihar area of Southern Traffic Range, felt body ache and mild fever on May 4 following which, he went to the government CGHS dispensary, Minto Road, where the doctor prescribed medicines and advised five-days rest, they said. However, the official gave his swab sample to a private lab for COVID-19 test as a precautionary measure on May 6. On Thursday, the result was received as positive, a senior official said.He said the traffic inspector was residing along with his 22-year-old son and a 27- year-old domestic help at government quarters in Minto road area. In Northwest Delhi, a 46-year-old head constable posted in Mahendra Park Police Station also tested positive for COVID-19. He has been living with his wife, two daughters and a son in the police colony, Narela. He was on medical leave since May 1, police said. Also, an inspector posted with the Special Cell of Delhi Police has tested positive for COVID-19. He was is deployed at the Lodhi Colony office of the Special Cell, they said. Meanwhile, officials are tracing the people with whom the three police personnel came in contact so far so as to quarantine them, they added. More than 30 Delhi Police personnel have tested COVID positive so far. A 31-year-old Head Constable, Amit Kumar, posted at Bharat Nagar police station died on Tuesday evening due to COVID-19. The ‘Love Mumbai’ typography installation was showcased in this year’s Kala Ghoda Festival in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=mumbai">Mumbai</a> and has been designed by Hitesh Malaviya and Hanif Kureshi. 
 St+Art India had written to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation requesting that the installation be given a permanent home in the city and was joined by <keyword id="2941350" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Humans-of-Bombay">Humans of Bombay</keyword> which started a petition to make it a part of the city landscape. 
 
And, finally their answers were heard on Wednesday when <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=aditya+thackeray">Aditya Thackeray</a>, head of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=shiv+sena">Shiv Sena’s</a> youth wing announced on <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=facebook">Facebook</a> that the installation will be permanently displayed at the Bandra Reclamation Promenade. 
 
He also wrote that he was in love with the installation.
