Ride-hailing major Uber on Thursday announced a partnership with electric vehicle fleet operator Lithium Urban Technologies to deploy over 1,000 EVs in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune. Uber said it has already deployed more than 100 such electric vehicles (all sedan), such as Mahindra eVerito and Tata Tigor EV, on its platform. Over the next 12 months, the company said it remains committed to scaling up to 2,000 electric vehicles on its platform, including the Lithium EVs. "After our partnerships with Yulu, Mahindra and SUN Mobility, this is our fourth partnership in this space and Uber will always remain committed to providing smarter mobility, building greener cities and creating healthier lives," said Prabhjeet Singh, President, Uber India and South Asia said. Lithium's charging hubs in the selected cities have the capacity to charge multiple cars and buses simultaneously. While a fast charger can charge a sedan in 90 minutes, a slow charger can do that in 8 to 9 hours. "Our partnership with Uber has the potential to significantly add to the number of electric kilometers covered by cars in every city. Electric vehicles are particularly well-suited to the shared economy, and that's why we're seeing their early adoption, most noticeably in fleets," said Ashwin Mahesh, Co-Founder and CEO, Lithium Urban Technologies. According to the 2019 ‘IQAir; rankings, 14 of the 20 most polluted cities in the world are in India. Exposure to outdoor and indoor air pollution contributed to over 1.2 million deaths in India in 2017, according to the State of Global Air Report. Uber recently announced a global commitment to make all rides on its platform 100 per cent emission-free by 2040 through zero-emission vehicles and the integration of public transport and micro-mobility. Uber partners with Lithium Urban Tech to onboard 1,000 EVs in India

Instead, its lithium-ion battery can be charged within three hours using a typical 220-volt outlet.The little mobility unit starts at around $7,059 including VAT. And like other companies that have had to pivot amid the pandemic, Citroen has made the ordering process of the quadricycle available online, which means potential customers don't have to go in-store to purchase the Ami.But for those who prefer payment flexibility, the cube on wheels can also be rented for around $23.53 per month with an initial around $3,112 down payment under Citroen's subscription-like plan, which is a 48-month "long-term rental" package.According to Laliron, the long-term rental plan provides a "peace of mind" for the customers who prefer a monthly payment that's similar to that of a subway card or a subscription to a media service like Netflix or Spotify.But for the ultra non-commital, or for those who want even more flexibility and freedom, the Ami can also be rented through Free2Move for about $0.31 a minute.The initial customers who have purchased an Ami have so far been wealthy families who have paid cash for the unit with the intention of using it as an alternative vehicle for the family, Laliron wrote. The truck, dubbed the Urban eTruck, runs on three lithium-ion batteries that provide 124 miles of range - considering the truck is meant for urban environments, not highway driving, that range isn't bad by any means.But <a href="http://www.carscoops.com/2016/09/mercedes-benz-unveils-all-electric.html" target="_blank">Carscoops</a> reports that the eTruck has a modular design so you can add an extra battery packs to slightly bump that 124-mile limit.The Urban eTruck has been going through testing in Stuttgart, Germany since April, according to <a href="https://www.daimler.com/products/trucks/mercedes-benz/urban-etruck.html" target="_blank">Mercedes</a>. The truck has been used in different topographical environments to see how it can fare running just on battery power. All in, the Urban eTruck delivers 737 lb-ft of torque.There's no word yet on when we can expect the truck to hit the roads. The towers don't require pesticides or even natural sunlight.The technique is called indoor vertical farming - a type of agriculture in which food grows on trays or hanging modules in a climate-controlled, indoor facility. The process allows certain types of produce to be grown year-round,in small spaces. Produce could be delivered to consumers within hours of harvest.Plenty, founded in 2014, claims to grow up to 350 times more greens than conventional farms of similar size, while using much less water and land.  The Vespa Elettrica is a premium electric scooter that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. Piaggio, the company behind Vespa hasn’t launched the electric scooter in India yet - but said that it plans to do so, soon. The Vespa Elettrica is identical to the Bajaj Chetak in terms of design and features the same neo-retro look. It has a round headlamp, contrast colour air vents, a 4.3-inch digital instrument panel and smartphone connectivity. It is powered by a 4kW motor and has two riding modes – Power and Eco. The company has claimed that the scooter can be fully charged in 4 hours and a single charge will give a range of up to 100 km.  The Hero AE-29 was showcased during the Auto Expo 2020. It has a top speed of 55 kmph and can be charged in under four hours. As per the company, the scooter will have a range of 80 km on a single charge. The company has dubbed the AE-29 as the first IOT-enabled scooter. It features anti-theft smart lock, walk assist, reverse assist and mobile charger. The Hero AE-29 is expected to be launched in the coming months. Hero Electric AE-3 - a three-wheeled scooter

 Hero has showcased a unique three-wheeled scooter which is also known as a trike. The trike, dubbed as Hero Electric AE-3 will be the first such vehicle to be launched in India. The Hero Electric AE-3 is powered by a 5.5kW electric motor that gives it a top speed of 80 kmph. It is equipped with a 4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that can be fully charged in 5 hours and has a range of 100 km. Other features on the AE-3 include geofencing, real-time tracking, fully digital instrument cluster and reverse assist. The scooter can balance itself while standing still by using its gyroscope-enabled auto-balance park switch. Evolet Raptor - a rotor that pushes for 100 kmph

 Evolet, a Gurugram-based start-up showcased the Raptor maxi scooter at the Auto Expo 2020. It is expected to go on sale in June this year. The company has not revealed any information about its price yet. The Evolet Raptor is powered by a 3kW motor which gives it a top speed of 100 kmph. The company has claimed that the scooter can be fully charged in 3-4 hours and it has a range of 100 – 150 km on a single charge. Tesla had already started construction in Nevada, but on the company's most recent earnings call, CEO Elon Musk was anything but committal about Nevada being the true winner of a multistate competition for the first of what could be several "Gigafactories." 
California vaguely re-reentered the runoff in the past few months, and that seemed to enough incentive for the Nevada state government to come up with enough ... incentives! and definitively end the discussion. Besides, it was unclear whether California was really interested in giving Musk and Co. a sweet deal anyway, given that the state legislature ended its session without voting to authorize any sort of competing incentive package.
In any case, Nevada coughed up the money, and now the deal - which would have Tesla and partner Panasonic effectively paying no state taxes for a decade - is done. 
On the one hand, you could argue that for Tesla the company - and probably more importantly, Tesla the speculative Wall Street investment - having the Gigafactory plan settled is a big positive. Musk's entire master plan to move past the luxurious Model S sedan and bring higher-volume electric vehicles to the market hinges on being able to secure a very large supply of lithium-ion battery cells.
The Gigafactory makes that possible. 
But is it really a goods deal for Nevada? At the Atlantic's CityLab, <a href="http://www.citylab.com/politics/2014/09/reno-won-teslas-gigafactory-was-it-worth-it/379725/">noted urban theorist Richard Florida is appalled</a>:

Florida goes on to cite sources who question how many jobs the Gigafactory will actually create (Tesla and Nevada say 6,500; others suggest 3,000 may be closer to reality), point out that Nevada is paying hundred of thousands, potentially, for these jobs, and note that a successful Tesla and successful Gigafactory will reduce jobs at traditional auto manufacturing operations.
There's also some stuff in Florida's analysis about how Reno isn't likely to become a tech hub, hinting at Tesla's cynicism over the way the company is pitching the Gigafactory's prospects. 
The point about traditional engine plants losing jobs if the Gigafactory gains them is one that could easily be disputed. At the moment, the traditional auto industry is booming: new vehicle sales in the US are running at a 16.5-million pace, with the vast majority of those cars and trucks powered by good old-fashioned gas engines. 
Tesla, meanwhile, is selling a few thousand cars a month, and will be lucky to deliver over 30,000 cars this year.
Even if Tesla achieves its ambitious goals of selling half a million cars by 2020, that still about only 3% of the overall US auto market at present. And it's likely that a decent chunk of Tesla's production will be exported as sales grow in countries like China. 
So Tesla could have some marginal effect on employment at traditional auto plants, but so what? Of course, the underlying argument is, as Florida notes, that Tesla won't contribute 6,500 net jobs to the US economy, if the Gigafactory in Nevada subtracts jobs from elsewhere. But what if a growing conventional auto market actually adds jobs? 
The more damning allegation, as far as the size of the deal goes, is that Tesla was going to build the Gigafactory in Nevada anyway. The lead-up to the deal was nothing but tax-incentive theater, with Musk directing the show. For Florida's perspective, this is not a good way for states to do business, and he concludes by calling for "an end to incentives once and for all."
