Brahmāstra hits the advance booking bulls eye but needs word of mouth publicity

Talking about species can be dull, but not when you add <keyword id="6359858" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="alcohol">alcohol</keyword>. 
23 drinks into the evening, <keyword id="41551" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="science">science</keyword> writer <a href="http://www.sciwriter.us/">Charles Choi</a> attempted to explain speciation — the process by which new species develop — during a Science Online conference held last year. Speciation in the process by which species arise, and how scientists define when evolving organisms become separate species.
The <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFAx8nrCAxc&amp;feature=youtu.be">four-minute video</a> (NSFW for language) is a parody of the hit webseries-turned-tv-series Drunk History. It starts the same, listing Choi's drinks for the night: five Irish Car Bombs, five doubles of Jameson, two beers and a swig from a flask. Then the fun begins.
Before taking a stab at it himself, Choi starts by bashing on <a href="http://www.ucl.ac.uk/taxome/jim/Mim/darwin_on_spp.html">Darwin's definition of speciation</a> — the idea that , saying it comes from a "binary" perspective.
His own definition is basically incomprehensible, but that doesn't matter because he immediately starts in on "Tions" and "Ligers." Which really do exist, as a subspecies.
You should care about speciation. Understanding how new forms of life arise can not only help us discover them, but also potentially drive the creation of new organisms that serve specific and useful roles.
Things get complicated when we leave the reality of our Earth and start debate the mate-ability of Orcs and humans. Orcs are a race of mythical humanoid creatures, generally described as brutish, aggressive and repulsive, stemming from the writings of J. R. R. Tolkien.
Obviously Choi knows a lot more about their backstory than we do, and he says that because they are pretty similar, they probably could get it on in a Tolkien universe.

Lionsgate Play has a repertoire of Hollywood shows and is developing Indian originals such as Hiccups and Hookups and Feels Like Home. India is an important market for <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/advertising/media/article/india-will-be-among-the-top-five-markets-for-lionsgate-within-the-next-five-years-rohit-jain-lionsgate/articleshow/80769668.cms">Lionsgate</a> and is expected to be one of its top five markets globally by 2025. Business Insider India spoke to Amit Dhanuka, executive vice president, Lionsgate, to get an insight into the India OTT market and the company’s content play. We have seen that the trend of content is pretty consistent over a period of time. There are two or three pieces of content that work – one, good stories always find audiences. Second, their genre also plays a role. We did Hiccups and Hookups which is a very urban story but it found great audiences across the country. Jungle Cry was about a bunch of boys who participated in a rugby championship. Typically we have seen that action, thriller genres slightly outperformed the other genres. Their engagement levels are higher. When it comes to gender diversity in shows and movies, what has been Lionsgate's approach in India? We are the torchbearers for gender diversity. Our lineup of shows have female protagonists. Even when we launched our first edition in India, we had female leads in Hiccups and Hookups. We are consistently working around two accounts- gender diversity and inclusion. Lionsgate has also gone and represented African-American, Hispanic and Latin American communities on a global stage. The industry itself is changing as it is moving away from a male-centric view. It is now talent as opposed to gender. How is Lionsgate Play investing in regional cinema and content? We are trying to represent India as a whole but as of now we are slightly more focused on Hindi along with our Hollywood content. As we evolve in southeast Asia, we are going to look at regional Indian content. As of now, that is not a priority. Jungle Cry is a great example of how it does not need to be a local dialect but a local story also works wonders. We are currently releasing 65 plus titles in a year. Globally, our budget is around $2 billion. Which movies are creating the most amount of buzz? Feels Like Home is coming up with its second season. We are premiering Serpent Queen, Jerusalem, Unscripted Graham Norton and we just did Emmys. We want to present the type of content that customers have something to look forward to every Friday. How many minutes does an average user spend using Lionsgate Play? Our completion rate for series and movies is very high. Feels like Home alone had a 50% completion rate, which is significant. If we quantify our series, at least two to five episodes are being consumed. An average time spent per user on Lionsgate India is at least 80 minutes, sometimes going upwards (to) 100 minutes. How has the partnership with prime channels helped Lionsgate in India? We are also one of the largest partners globally when it comes to partnership with prime channels. In India, we have had a fantastic partnership with our launch of prime channels in the past 12 months. The subscribers in India on Lionsgate are paying annual subscriptions directly as opposed to monthly subscriptions. Apart from Hindi, what language shows are Indians interested in? What OTT has done is reduced the language barrier considerably and made the audience slightly language agnostic. Earlier, the only way you could watch a dubbed movie was in a theatre or on television but it did not create any considerable monetary opportunity and OTT has tapped into that market – whether it is Korean content popular in India, or Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu content being watched in Hindi speaking markets. We did a great experiment with a dubbed Arabic movie called The Ambush and because of great content, it performed excellently in India. Can OTTs hold their own space with theatre releases by Bollywood? Brahmāstra was recently released in theatres and even though it will be released on OTT soon, I went to watch it in a theatre. The experience in a theatre is different. That experience cannot be replicated on a small screen. What OTT does is it lets you watch at the time and place of your choosing. Each has a different need they are serving. Lionsgate also looks forward to onboarding upcoming Bollywood movies. "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" is full of incorrect dino-depictions. Everything from the colors of the dinosaurs to their roars, and even their lack of feathers, here's five things "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" whiffed. Following is a transcript of the video.The newest Jurassic World installment is upon us like a hungry T-Rex, who doesn't have any feathers, for some reason. Here are a few things Hollywood is still getting wrong about dinosaurs. Many dinosaurs had feathers, but the dinosaurs of "Jurassic World" are covered in scales. Like crocodiles and lizards. They might have made an effort to stick a few feathers on this dinosaur, but even if they did, that's not even a real animal. It's a hybrid of two different species, which bring us to our next point...Genetics doesn't work that way. Sure, similar species can breed. That's how you get a liger (Lion+Tiger). But the Indoraptor isn't like a liger. It's a mix of a type of tyrannosaur and raptor. Two very different kinds of animals. It would be more like if you tried to breed a lion with a wolf, instead. It's just not going to happen. The DNA is not compatible. Dinosaurs didn't roar. In the first "Jurassic World", T. rex's roar was made from a mix of animal sounds and it sounds pretty similar in the new film. But dinosaurs don't roar like a lion. They're related to birds. Which means their voice box was probably similar to a bird's.Raptors had wings. First of all, raptor hands didn't droop down like that. In reality, that would only happen if their wrists were broken. In truth, raptors, like birds today, had wings. They couldn't fly. But the wing shape means that their arms looked nothing like this.Dinosaurs were colorful. Yeah, "Jurassic World's" dinosaurs are way too dull. Sure, earth tones like green and brown are common in today's reptiles. But paleontologists have found that dinosaurs came in a kaleidoscope of bright colors just like today's birds. Some even had shiny, iridescent feathers!We get it, Hollywood, T-rex is scarier with its iconic roar. And velociraptors look more vicious without those ridiculous feathers. But C'mon! The two soon collaborated on a short film, "Peluca," which followed a quirky high schooler named Seth (Heder), whom Hess described to Insider as "kind of the same character" as Napoleon.While shooting "Peluca" in Idaho, the crew had extra film left so Hess decided to film Heder grooving in character, inspired by the actor's now infamous dancing."I was like, 'Jon, while you're still dressed up in the moon boots and everything, let's go shoot this shot,'" Hess recalled to Insider. "'At the end of this empty dirt road, I'll just turn on the radio, and whatever's playing, just dance to the music.'" Hess ended up filming Heder dancing for "a minute and a half" to a Jamiroquai song that just so happened to be playing on the radio."The dynamic of seeing this guy that looked like [Heder], being able to throw down some pretty impressive moves, is so strange and entertaining and funny all at the same time," the director said. "It was just kind of this incredible epiphany that occurred." Ultimately, that dance scene didn't end up making it into "Peluca." But Hess and his wife were inspired to include a similar sequence in the feature they were writing - called "Napoleon Dynamite." Heder recalled Hess telling him at the time, "'Yeah, it's going to be the climax for the film; you dancing.'" <div type="image" title="Efren Ramirez as Pedro and Jon Heder as Napoleon stand in front of lockers in a still from &quot;Napoleon Dynamite.&quot;" height="2392" width="3189" msid="83436246" hostid="261"></div><h2>Heder got the 'Napoleon Dynamite' dance scene done in three takes</h2>In the film, Napoleon's impassioned dance to Jamiroquai (during an assembly in front of the whole school) comes as a last-ditch effort to secure votes for Pedro, his new friend who desperately wants to be class president. But the dance also impresses Napoleon's friend and maybe-crush Deb (Tina Majorino), and forces his high school classmates to think of him in a new light. Hess and Heder told Insider that they took a more unorthodox approach to filming the now-iconic scene. Running low on funds and unsure what song Napoleon would actually be dancing to, the cast and crew were forced to get creative. "We had one roll of film left and basically had just three takes to get the entire dance sequence filmed," Hess said. "I remember after each take I was like, 'Oh, man.' I didn't think that we had it. I was really worried.""And so I just kind of had to live with it and cross my fingers," he added. Although the film didn't have a choreographer to help Heder with his dance moves, the actor knew that he wanted to make Napoleon's dance markedly different from the character's normal physicality."Like, Napoleon barely moves. He doesn't express a lot, he doesn't get that animated," Heder recalled. "We knew the vibe of the whole movie and the purpose of this dancing would be so different than the way Napoleon usually moves."He also had some pretty straightforward direction from Hess: "Dude, you just do your thing.""That was his direction. He just put it in my hands," Heder said. "Then I realized, you know what, I'll just do what I normally do. I'll just do my best to make it as funky as I can and as good as I can."Hess also told Insider that some skillful editing was involved to make Heder's dance even more memorable, combining the best shots from multiple takes for the final version. "When we got into the cutting room, when we were editing the film, it was like, 'Oh, wow. Yeah, we've definitely got it,'" the director recalled. "We ended up kind of Frankensteining together different dance moves from all three takes that we did and [put] them together as one." "It worked because it wasn't a professionally choreographed sequence," Heder added. "It had a little of that 'just making it up as I go' vibe." Adding to the pressure was the fact that Heder had to dance to multiple songs with similar tempos, in the event that their licensing request for Jamiroquai's "Canned Heat," the second single from the band's fourth album, "Synkronized," was denied. "One take was to 'Canned Heat.' Another take was to 'Little L,' which is another Jamiroquai track from their album 'Funk Odyssey,'" Heder detailed. "And then we danced to a Michael Jackson song from 'Off the Wall.'" Both creatives agree that the scene wouldn't have been quite the same if they hadn't secured the rights to "Canned Heat," but that ultimately, the success of the scene came down to the hilarious visual of Heder's character dancing his heart out. "At the end of the day, you still would have had a nerd performing some ridiculous dance moves in front of a high school," Hess said. And Napoleon's audience? Those were real high school students from Preston, Idaho, who worked for free, according to the director."We didn't have any money we could offer them," Hess recalled of casting the students. "It was just like, 'Hey, wanna come be in a movie and get a free bottle of Gatorade' or whatever we had out of the cooler. But we offered everybody a credit in the film. So it's a pretty long credit sequence at the end." The extras didn't even get to see Heder's dance, nor did any of the other cast members. "We actually shot all of their reaction stuff, weirdly enough, without Jon dancing. Cause they didn't want Jon to overdo it," Hess explained. "Jon was literally just performing for the crew. He wasn't even performing for an actual audience of extras, which is kind of weird. He was boogieing down for just a bunch of film school friends." The result was one of the most memorable movie climaxes in recent years: a quietly joyous, slow-building celebration of dance and movement, performed by one of film's most unassuming protagonists."We had no idea how it was gonna turn out until we went to the Sundance Film Festival and we saw the whole thing," Ramirez, who played Pedro, recalled. "It was just perfect - from the crowd's reaction to Heder's dancing." <div type="image" title="Jon Heder as Napoleon feeds Tina the llama in a still from &quot;Napoleon Dynamite.&quot;" height="2395" width="3194" msid="83436248" hostid="261"></div><h2>In the years since its release, Heder's dance has become an instantly recognizable part of the film</h2>Nothing has been quite able to match the barely-contained exuberance and self-effacing coolness of Napoleon's dance since, and the scene has become as much of a calling card for the movie as a "Vote for Pedro" shirt. "As a character, it definitely won Napoleon some long overdue respect," Hess said of the dance. "It's like, here's a guy that's just flying under the radar in life and is underestimated by everyone. Suddenly he has a showcase for this weird secret talent, but he's using it to help his best friend. " Ramirez agreed."This is what a friend would do for his friend, and that Napoleon put himself on the line like that, that's so wonderful to see," he told Insider. "It's like, wow, that's what friends are for."But if you're expecting Heder to ever bust a groove like that again, don't wait on it. "It was all freestyle. I didn't memorize it. I mean, look, I've seen it many times, so there's certainly moves I could do, but I don't remember the order," he said."I always tell people: Really the Napoleon dance is just dancing from your heart," Heder added. "It's just like, feeling it and just letting it go. Because what it was. That's just all I did for it, was just feeling the groove."
